200W 200-Watt 110V Submersible Aquarium Fish Tank Adjustable Heating Pipe Heater

200W 200-Watt 110V Submersible Aquarium Fish Tank Adjustable Heating Pipe HeaterProduct was alright for a little while then it quit working an the cord wasn't long enough at all I had to use a extension cord to use it which is very unsafe for that type of product. Over all I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Nice heater, directions were all in Russian so that made installing difficult. This package took forever to get to my mail box.

This heater is crap, Quit working after 3 weeks. The power cord is way too short and you need a magnifying glass to see the temp. settings. would not recomend this heater to anyone. Not even worth sending back.

Lixit First Aid Kit for Dogs and Pets

Lixit First Aid Kit for Dogs and PetsI got my family a bunch of disaster kits for the holidays this year and the last one I made was specifically for our 3 year old, 85 lb. black lab, Wolfgang von Wolfhaus. I purchased the Lixit First Aid Kit and accompanying Lexit Pet Mess Kit, along with a blanket, english setting collar/leash, chew toy, portable water bowl, a notebook with copies of his records, immunizations, tags, and licenses, along with some quickclot and other small do-dads.

Remember to plan for your pets... they can't do it themselves!

Wow! This is a real winner, so handy and portable. Would recommend to any pet owner; a great idea and purchase.

First day that I had the kit, my dog cut his cheek on something. It had everything I needed to stop the blood and keep the cut clean.

Great kit, I've used it a few times through my work and I've always found what I needed. Although I added just a few items such as rubber gloves, antiseptic shampoo and Iso Betadine. Otherwise great buy!

Marina Cool Goldfish Kit

Marina Cool Goldfish Kit, Purple, Medium/2.65-GallonTHIS kit come with everything but heater and light .my betta loves it .it big enough to add a nice size ornament .filter a bit strong but for 18.00 dollars can,t complain .i have yet to find a better deal on a one gallon for my other betta so i just order 1 more for her .wouldnt put gold fish in but perfect for my betta,s

Well, I purchased this product for my son about a month ago. THIS WAS THE BEST DEAL ON AMAZON. For those stating that this is too small, THIS IS A STARTER KIT!!!!! So if you just got a goldfish keep him in here until you can upgrade, like my son and I did. This was one of the best deals I ever got. Now we keep our goldfish who is currently 4 inches in a 10 gallon tank. Also, if you can buy a heater, this is great for keeping to small tropical fish like platties or guppies. We now keep two guppies in here. REMEMBER every Inch of fish means one gallon of water, so after your fish is about 2.5 inches, its time to upgrade. The filter is VERY strong. Assembly is quite easy if you READ once agian READ NOT SKIM through the instructions. I assembled everything in about 3 min. unlike the reviewers below. This Starter kit contains gravel(rock) one plant, gold fish food, water conditioners( Hagen Nutrafin Aqua+ which improves tap water and removes metals and chlorine, protects scales and fins, and has an anti stress formula, and Nutrafin Cycle, which IMMEDIATLEY establishes a safe enviorment and contains ammonia and a nitrate elimination formula, both of these are VERY beneficial for your fish), a POWERFUL Hagen filter, and of course, the 2.65 gallon tank. Overall this product is a bang for your buck and you will NOT regret purchasing this item.

We bought this tank at Petsmart for about $23. Cheap. But it brought so much heartache to our family. I wish I had read all the reviews, maybe with modifications I could have saved my daughter's Black Molly. The 2 guppies that we first got were killed by the filter within 48 hours. Their beautiful tail got caught in by the filter. Molly (the black Molly) was smarter and quickly figured out that one should not get close to the front if the filter. But 12 days later she died of stress. I could not understand why as we kept water at perfect conditions, water changes every 2 days, a little salt, heater to keep temp constant, etc. I mean, I put a LOT of work in keeping that fish alive because I did not want to break my child's heart after the guppy fiasco. Well, after reading the review about the constant whirlpool, it ALL makes sense! This poor fish would hide inside this castle decor or hover right at the top of the water at the side of the filter, avoiding at all costs the larger front area of the tank. I thought she was skiddish. Now I see she was trying to survive the whirlpool. But I guess eventually she succumbed to exhaustion and stress. We found her dead this morning.

We will try the sock, sponge & change position of the filter for the new Molly, Cole. We can't put anything bigger in her bedroom. But I extremely regret having gone for this kit. :(

My wife purchased this aquarium, and it didn't take long to see that it was a death trap if you intend to have anything but one one or two larger fish (smaller fish will struggle with the current created by the large filter).

Some people here are shutting the filter off at night, but doing that will kill your fish unless you are doing very frequent water changes to make up for it. Defeats the purpose of the filter and your aquarium won't cycle right anyway.

I made some alterations to help make the aquarium a short term solution until we were ready to upgrade (we purchased a petco bookshelf aquarium which is far superior for not much more money).

First off, I would NOT recommend placing the filter in the center of the tank, as the manufacturer recommends. This pretty much makes the entire tank a whirlpool, which will kill smaller fish like neon tetras and guppies who are not full grown. Instead, place the filter over on the far side of the tank so your fish can get away from the suction current and rest. High stress environments usually mean a shorter life for your fish.

Moving the filter to the side of the tank will create a problem. You won't be able to close the lid properly. To solve this, I drilled a hole into the lid's side trim and widened the hole with a pair of needle nose pliers. You need to practice putting the filter into place first so you can estimate where to notch out the hole. This will allow the filter hang bracket to function normally while allowing you to shut the lid completely. Run the filter's power cord through the space just to the left or right of the hood hinges.

You can also place a clean toddler's sock over the bottom of the filter to help mitigate the suction power of the filter. It's not the best solution in the world, but far better than turning the filter off completely for any length of time.

Lastly, I purchased a lamp cord, a socket and a 4 watt light bulb at the hardware store for $7. The raised hood of the aquarium provides plenty of room to install a light and the lid has holes in it to run the wires through.

I hope this helps a few people until they are able to upgrade.

For those considering a better aquarium for just a few dollars more, I would highly recommend a Petco 6.6 gallon bookshelf aquarium. You can find those here on Amazon for $40. It's not much more money and will give your fish more than twice the space, fewer hassles and an environment that is far less stressful to your fish.

I purchased this tank for my daughter for her fifth birthday. I am happy with the construction of it, as well as the child-accessible feed-opening in the lid. The size is just right for a little kid, and the colors and decorations are lovely. That being said, it IS a starter tank, and is probably not actually a very good choice for gold fish, as they grow so large. The tank does not come with a heater or a lighting system (which can be purchased separately), so the best choice of fish is a Betta. I understand that most people say that Bettas need a minimum of five-gallons of water, but that hasn't been my experience with any Betta I have ever owned, and our fish is presently quite happy swimming about his 2.65 Gallon bachelor pad. Overall, it's a decent product for the price.

Hagen Nutrafin Nitrate 0.0 to 110.0 Mg/L for Fresh and Saltwater, 80-Tests

Hagen Nutrafin Nitrate 0.0 to 110.0 Mg/L for Fresh and Saltwater, 80-TestsI have used this test kit several times to monitor Nitrate in aquariums. It is the one kit that has been thoroughly consistent and accurate. You must use good light though when reading the results and follow the directions to the letter, that is important. I have found that viewing the test bottle against the card in direct sunlight helps to match the result to the closest PPM on the card. It can be a little confusing as the other reviewer claimed, but you are aiming for low readings to begin with and this brand is more accurate than the other cheaper one for Nitrate. And at this price compared to getting it at a chain pet store or LFS it is a great deal!

Long story short...

The color from the test tube can not accurately be placed at any one point on the color chart that is provided. Using a computer to analyze the colors, the hue of my test tube is the same as the hue of the 20 mg/L color on the chart, but the saturation is the closest to the saturation of the 50 mg/L color on the chart, and the "value" is actually below the entire chart (it would correspond to 0.89 mg/L). I don't believe there is any way a human or computer can tell where, on the provided chart, the color of the test tube should fall. No matter how I tried to evaluate the colors (naked eye, computer-evaluated red/green/blue or hue/saturation/value), I was not able to come up with a value for my nitrate level. To me this kit was a complete waste of money, although I did have fun trying (unsuccessfully) to find a way to use their inadequate chart to figure out the nitrate level.

Long story long...

I test color vision every day and I have great color vision. I also got the opinion of other people and everyone agreed that the color of the test tube, before and after a 50% water change (to make sure I wasn't just off the chart), could not be placed anywhere in the provided chart. I read and re-read the instructions and followed it as best I could, although holding the last (of 3) bottles at a "45 degree angle" causes drops to fall out at a very fast rate and sometimes it is hard to allow only three drops into the test tube (this is not a plastic squeeze bottle, but a glass bottle that you must tilt "at 45 degrees" to allow the solution to drip out after shaking for 30 seconds). Personally, I think holding it at 30 or 20 degrees is much easier, but I'm not sure if that changes the size of the drops or not, so I just do what the directions say and throw everything out if more than 3 drops get into the test tube.

Before I did a water change, the vivid violet color of the test tube was much different than any of the desaturated colors on the card, which ranged from light pink to dark purple/maroon. I did a 50% water change, thinking that maybe I was just off the chart, and the color of the test tube became more pale, but still did not match anything on the chart. I asked other people and they also had no idea where on the chart my test tube was. There is a limit on what the human eye can do in terms of color and I thought I would take human judgement out of the equation.

I got the best lighting I could difficult because this cylindrical test tube focuses light into a bright vertical beam behind it leaving dark areas near the edges and a much brighter color near the center of the tube when you hold it in front of the white area on the chart. Finally, I got it situated so the color was mostly uniform when looking through the test tube. I then took a digital photo of the test tube held against the white area on the color chart and analyzed it on my computer. There are many ways to represent colors. I used HSV (hue, saturation, value) because the colors on the chart appeared desaturated compared to my more vibrant test tube and I was hoping I could remove that from the equation (also RGB did not provide values that consistently increased or decreased going up or down the chart, where HSV did). I used OpenOffice spreadsheet to create regression equations to correlate each parameter (hue, saturation and value) with nitrate concentration based on the colors provided on the chart. The absolute values of the coefficients of determination were 0.987, 0.913 and 0.996. For those who don't know, if the coefficient of determination (R2) is close to 1, then your equation is very accurate and if it is close to 0 then it is not accurate at all. This means that, in the chart provided with this kit, the hue, saturation and value all change predictably when nitrate concentration changes and you can come up with mathematical formulas that you can plug the values from either H, S or V into and it will give you the nitrate concentration. So, if I record the hue reading from one of the colors on the chart and plug that into the hue formula, it will give me the nitrate concentration that is listed next to that color. This is also the case for saturation and "value." No matter which of the three I use, I always get very close to the numbers listed on the chart. For example, if I analyze the color that is supposed to indicate 20 mg/L on the chart, plugging the hue into the hue equation gives me 18.3 mg/L, saturation gives me 17 and value gives me 20.7 (all pretty close to the correct nitrate concentration of 20).

Now, if the colors on this chart actually correlated with the possible colors in the test tube, you should also be able to take the hue, saturation or value from the color of the test tube and with the same formulas, come up with the nitrate concentration in the test tube. All three values should give you roughly the same nitrate concentration. So I analyzed the color from my test tube. Using the "value" of my test tube, my nitrates would be 0.89 mg/L. If I use the Hue, my nitrates are estimated at 21.2 mg/L (much higher) and if I use "saturation," my nitrates are 45 mg/L (more than twice what I got from "Hue" and 50 times as high as what I got from "value"). So, using the formulas I derived from the provided chart, the color of my test tube indicates that my nitrates are 1, 20 and 45 depending on what component of the color I use. These numbers are completely different from one another and show that the color of my test tube really wasn't anywhere in the spectrum of colors provided on the chart.

No wonder I couldn't look at the color and see where it fit on the chart. The hue of my test tube was the same as the hue on the chart that indicates 20 mg/L, the saturation of my test tube was closest to the saturation on the chart that indicates 50 mg/L and the value of my test tube was actually off the chart low (lower than the value of the 5 mg/L color on the chart). I'm not sure if I just got a bad test kit or if this will be the same for all the kits, but I think I have shown that there is no way to use the color of the test tube and the colors on the provided chart to come up with a nitrate level. I recommend looking for another nitrate test kit.

All Glass Aquarium AAG29051 Versa Top for 36 by 18-Inch tank.

All Glass Aquarium AAG29051 Versa Top for 36 by 18-Inch tank. These glass tops are very high quality. The only issue is the image is misleading. The image shows the 36x18 glass top that does not require a center brace but what you actually recieve is 2 18x18 sections for tanks that have a center brace. Unfortunatly that doesn't work for me but it is not the fault of the product.

While you do receive a glass top, the one I received was defective. Or, it may have an undocumented feature it was designed for a braced aquarium.

Buy All Glass Aquarium AAG29051 Versa Top for 36 by 18-Inch tank. Now

I ordered this Versa Top with plans to use it with my 36"x18" 40g breeder tank. What they do not tell you about this product is it is for the FIFTY and SIXTY gallon breeder tanks and not the 40. It comes in 2 18"x18" pieces of glass that expect your tank to have a center brace and not 1 solid 18"x36" as the description of the item would lead you to believe. When I messaged the seller they refused to replace or swap out the item and I had to go through amazon directly to have things fixed. Ended up ordering the proper Versa Top from my local fish store for HALF the price.

Soft Foxtail Color: Blue, Size: Mini

Soft Foxtail Color: Blue, Size: MiniThis is a real pretty ornament. It is fluffy and flowing ( not made of plastic ) and once put in water it fluffs right out. It is "mini" so not as tall as one might expect. Most of the foxtails I find are too tall. I like this one. I put it in my tank with a red and an orange mini foxtail and they serve to brighten up the whole tank. The fish seem to love these foxtails. The colors are deep and rich. A nice, affordable addition. This one is really reasonably priced! I would recommend it. It looks very nice in a five and a ten gallon tank and I am sure it would work in any size tank. It is that pretty.

It's a lot smaller than I thought it would be, and mine seems skinnier than the picture displays. But it's the right shade of blue that I wanted, so I like it.

Pet Greens Grooming 2 in 1 Shampoo & Conditioner

Pet Greens Grooming 2 in 1 Shampoo & ConditionerI've been using this Pet Greens shampoo on my Westie, and it's fantastic. She loves to play and can get very dirty, this shampoo/conditioner cleans her extremely well. After we use it on her; her coat is soft, shiny, and vibrant, she smells great, looks clean, her skin and fur just feel great afterward (you can also tell that she feels great afterwards too). The ingredients are all natural and seem to work very well. I got turned on to Pet Greens (Bell Rock Growers) products because she loved their treats, but this shampoo is a fantastic product as well. Blue Ribbon Cambodian Temple Ruins Aquarium Ornament

Blue Ribbon Cambodian Temple Ruins Aquarium OrnamentThis is a beautiful ornament for a fish tank! It fits perfectly in my 29 gallon, adding to the "jungle ruins" theme I am going for. It has a nice weight to it and looks to be constructed very well. My only complaint is that a couple of the openings (the entrance and one window) are a little rough and may tear a delicate fish's fins (like my betta). A little sanding solved that problem. I highly recommend!

AquaClear Filter Case for 110/500 Power FiltersNo complaints here. Perfect and brand new replacement if you have a broken case.

I just wish it came with the motor/filter intake tube plate that is placed inside the case.

I have been delighted with the performance of all three of my Aquaclear 110/500 Power Filters. They are quiet, work well, and are relatively easy to clean. I was horrified when I was pulling the case to clean it and dropped it on the floor. Luckily, Aquaclear allows users to purchase individual components of this system and I only had to purchase a replacement case. The availability of these spare parts provided me significant cost savings over buying an entire new filter and also kept the parts that I had not broken out of our local landfill.

Vibran-Sea Fountain Fern Silk-Style Aquarium Plant, Extra-Large 18-19 tall, Green

Vibran-Sea Fountain Fern Silk-Style Aquarium Plant, Extra-Large 18-19 tall, GreenThis plant will not stand up. It bends in half and makes a plant tunnel that the fish love. It looks a little funky slumped over. It also gets very dirty quickly. I use a stiff brush to clean it off. I looks funny but us the fish's favorite.

These look great for the price. They stand up well when cleaning off algae, too. I used a 30 minute mild bleach soak (1/2 cup in 5 gallons water) followed by a thorough rinsing. They look brand new after 6 months.

This is a great looking plant, so long as you don't mind the small plastic-looking connections between the leaf segments (aka. you won't mistake it for a real plant, but it still looks nice). It moves in the water and has a weighted bottom that makes it easy to anchor. It is definitely 18-19 inches, so it sticks out of the water a little bit in my 29g tank. I have it bent in multiple directions so it provides cover at all levels of my tank. Good price here on amazon (11.99 as of today).

Universal Rocks 30-Inch by 18-Inch Ledge Aquarium/Reptile Rigid Foam BackgroundThis ledge was one of the more economical choices for a backdrop, but my daughter's young bearded dragon seems to love it. He does a lot of jumping around and basking on it. It does protrude into the tank quite a bit, but seems to be exactly what was needed. I anticipate buying a larger tank as the dragon grows older, and would definitely consider this product then. Would love to have had a bit more rust color in the rock face, but it still looks great in the tank.

Mighty Toys Bug Series Lala the Ladybug Toy

Mighty Toys Bug Series Lala the Ladybug ToyI had seen these toys at my local pet store and they seemed like a great match for my dog. Sprocket is a coonhound/gs mix and quite the chewer. Toys don't last long in my house and he loves, loves the stuffed kind. These seemed durable and nearly impossible for him to rip through. Rather than pay full price at the pet store, I gave this one a try through amazon.com. It lasted one day before he had found the seem and ripped into it. It looked like a ladybug massacre in my living room. He completely eviscerated that thing within the hour. So, sadly, this was not the match for my guy. I have since found that hugglehounds work perfectly for him. They don't last forever, but they do tend to last the week which is a big improvement. Once he's torn them apart he still continues to carry around the carcass and play with it for some time. So I would suggest that those of you that extreme chewers...give the hugglehounds a try.
