The log is realistic. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because when I was removing it from the tank for cleaning, I grabbed it by the top opening and my thumb made a whole on the top part of it. It's no big deal as the whole is barely visible, but it should be more resistant in the top. The main log body feels sturdy, but in the inside there are some edges which feel kind of sharp. This doesn't worry me since the only one that enter it is my hoplo, but other fishes like fancy goldfish or bettas might hurt themselves in it. I don't really know why someone would buy a log for their goldfish, but whatever... Just a warning.
It gives my tank a really good look (More natural). If you complement it with some plants and sand, it will look amazing!
I would buy it again if I had to.

Marina Cool Goldfish Kit

We bought this tank at Petsmart for about $23. Cheap. But it brought so much heartache to our family. I wish I had read all the reviews, maybe with modifications I could have saved my daughter's Black Molly. The 2 guppies that we first got were killed by the filter within 48 hours. Their beautiful tail got caught in by the filter. Molly (the black Molly) was smarter and quickly figured out that one should not get close to the front if the filter. But 12 days later she died of stress. I could not understand why as we kept water at perfect conditions, water changes every 2 days, a little salt, heater to keep temp constant, etc. I mean, I put a LOT of work in keeping that fish alive because I did not want to break my child's heart after the guppy fiasco. Well, after reading the review about the constant whirlpool, it ALL makes sense! This poor fish would hide inside this castle decor or hover right at the top of the water at the side of the filter, avoiding at all costs the larger front area of the tank. I thought she was skiddish. Now I see she was trying to survive the whirlpool. But I guess eventually she succumbed to exhaustion and stress. We found her dead this morning. We will try the sock, sponge & change position of the filter for the new Molly, Cole. We can't put anything bigger in her bedroom. But I extremely regret having gone for this kit. :(

My wife purchased this aquarium, and it didn't take long to see that it was a death trap if you intend to have anything but one one or two larger fish (smaller fish will struggle with the current created by the large filter). Some people here are shutting the filter off at night, but doing that will kill your fish unless you are doing very frequent water changes to make up for it. Defeats the purpose of the filter and your aquarium won't cycle right anyway.
I made some alterations to help make the aquarium a short term solution until we were ready to upgrade (we purchased a petco bookshelf aquarium which is far superior for not much more money).
First off, I would NOT recommend placing the filter in the center of the tank, as the manufacturer recommends. This pretty much makes the entire tank a whirlpool, which will kill smaller fish like neon tetras and guppies who are not full grown. Instead, place the filter over on the far side of the tank so your fish can get away from the suction current and rest. High stress environments usually mean a shorter life for your fish.
Moving the filter to the side of the tank will create a problem. You won't be able to close the lid properly. To solve this, I drilled a hole into the lid's side trim and widened the hole with a pair of needle nose pliers. You need to practice putting the filter into place first so you can estimate where to notch out the hole. This will allow the filter hang bracket to function normally while allowing you to shut the lid completely. Run the filter's power cord through the space just to the left or right of the hood hinges.
You can also place a clean toddler's sock over the bottom of the filter to help mitigate the suction power of the filter. It's not the best solution in the world, but far better than turning the filter off completely for any length of time.
Lastly, I purchased a lamp cord, a socket and a 4 watt light bulb at the hardware store for $7. The raised hood of the aquarium provides plenty of room to install a light and the lid has holes in it to run the wires through.
I hope this helps a few people until they are able to upgrade.
For those considering a better aquarium for just a few dollars more, I would highly recommend a Petco 6.6 gallon bookshelf aquarium. You can find those here on Amazon for $40. It's not much more money and will give your fish more than twice the space, fewer hassles and an environment that is far less stressful to your fish.I purchased this tank for my daughter for her fifth birthday. I am happy with the construction of it, as well as the child-accessible feed-opening in the lid. The size is just right for a little kid, and the colors and decorations are lovely. That being said, it IS a starter tank, and is probably not actually a very good choice for gold fish, as they grow so large. The tank does not come with a heater or a lighting system (which can be purchased separately), so the best choice of fish is a Betta. I understand that most people say that Bettas need a minimum of five-gallons of water, but that hasn't been my experience with any Betta I have ever owned, and our fish is presently quite happy swimming about his 2.65 Gallon bachelor pad. Overall, it's a decent product for the price.

I have been using an API Calcium Test Kit to test water in a reef tank.As the test kit began to be depleted I ordered a new one of the same test kit.
Too my surprise where as the first kit indicated 380ppm the second indicated 520ppm.
Same test performed within mins using two API Calcium Test kits!
Shame on API for selling such poor products!

Como 5pcs Plastic Non-return Aquarium Air Pump Check Valves
That's just bad QC. Most of the valves I received weren't defective.
Of the working valves I received, I connected one to a deep water culture (for air bubbles) and the weight of the nutrient solution went right through the valve and backed up the airline (heading towards the air pump). Needless to say the air flow stopped. People use check valves so these kinds of things don't happen.
Also, the fittings on each side must be larger than 1/4", because these valves stretch out my 1/4" airline. After I was done with the valve, I had to cut off the small bit of connected airline because it was too stretched out to use (like throwing a hot dog down a hallway).
I didn't really know much about check valves when I ordered these, but it's been some time and I've tried different brands. These are my least favorite and I wouldn't order them again.

For the price, these are great. They work well. The only negative would be the extra plastic from the molds they came out of. However, I easily trimmed them with a razor blade so it wasn't an issue.Read Best Reviews of Como 5pcs Plastic Non-return Aquarium Air Pump Check Valves Here
I ordered a bunch of these to keep on hand. Well, it appears that I only got 2 useful valves out of the entire bunch. When connected to the air pump, these valves whistle, loudly. Too bad as they are perfectly sized as opposed to some of the other check valves that are available.I'm not sure if was just bad luck but I will not chance reordering these.

does exactly what it says it would do.....keeps water crystal clear........and parameters where you want them....I have a salt water aquarium without a skimmer and this does wonders... I've used Chemi-pure Elite along with Purigen in my 29gal Biocube. I had switched to another product and quickly had hair algae and cyano. Switched back to Chemi-Pure Elite and Purigen and the cyano is nearly completely gone and the hair algae is receding. You don't get a lot of space in an all-in-one so use it wisely!

Fluval Suction Cups, (4) 4x12 mm and clips, (8) 4x14 mm (03, 04 and 05 Series)
They've been in a fresh water tank now for several years (holding a Fluval E electronic heater on a side wall) and they seem as good as the day they first went in!
They're not "deteriorating"........when I need to slide the heater along the glass it "breaks loose" easily and slides while the cups retain their suction, etc.
I'll be happy when I have an extra set, sometimes it's the "little things" that are really important.
I really wouldn't want any other brand, etc., this Company REALLY knows aquarium equipment. They work well, do not seem like they are going to get hard and stop working like so many others.

this suction cups are horrible they don't hold much and when they hold they fall easely, won't recommended for any one.The Fluval Suction Cups are good for some things, but not quite what I was looking for. I am sure I will be able to use them in a different application. What I was actually looking for were suction cups capable of carrying American Flags on the trunk of my Corvette.
Thank you

I actually use these to hold air lines in place. I have bought the regular air line clips and suction cups and they are stop working a few weeks due to cheap plastic. These are supposed to be for canister filter intake/blows or heaters (they work excellent on those too) but I bought an extra set just for air lines. This way my larger cichlids can't knock the air lines around anymore!Friday, April 11, 2014
SeaClear Rectangular Aquarium Combo (Clear)
I have very heavy Holey rock that needs to be taken in and out of the aquarium tank during water changes. I've dropped several big pieces numerous times over the years. I worry about hurting the fish, but never about the tank.
The acrylic tank spoiled me. I was given two glass aquariums since this one. I broke the first one when I was cleaning it. The other one is still in my garage. I've decided to stay with acrylic. It's tough and it's just as clear as glass.
I want to say to check this set and make sure you know what it comes with. The one I have came with the acrylic splash cover, a light/ ballast, heater, and Penguin 330 Filter. SeaClear Aquariums are great. I'm just not sure how Petco sells this particular aquarium.Just ordered this tank, and waiting shipment. I'll update once it arrives!
I'm puzzled as to how people looking at this tank can't figure out how big it is. It's described as 36" x 12" x 16", which makes it 6912 cubic inches, or very slightly less than 30 gallons in volume, as measured from the outside. So, we'll call it 29+ gallons!

Ok I believe this tank is a 30 gallon...thats what it said on the packaging paper when i got it. I wouldnt have bought it had I known, but anyways. This sucked that they didnt put the size, it just seemed a bit sketchy to me.This tank has 3 cutouts on top, pretty small, I'm cutting them a bit wider, since I have turtles. Its a pretty great size tank overall, I just hate that the top is glued on. I would have prefered one with no top or one that comes off.

THIS IS NOT A 100 GALLON TANK, EVEN THOUGH WHEN YOU DO A SEARCH FOR 100 GALLON THIS IS THE FIRST ONE THAT POPS UP, SO THAT IS A BIT...ODD? Lee's The Ultimate Gravel Vac 25' Kit
It is an identical product to some of the pricier ones (such as Python), but works just as well. I would highly recommend it to anyone with multiple tanks or with large tanks who is tired of hauling buckets!Great tool for cleaning/refilling, I use it on my 10 gal tank and it working great, also used it on my beta tank. I would recommend it to anyone looking for an easy in tank maintenance.

I ordered this product mainly to clean my 95 gallons fish pond. It does a great job. For my fish tank though, the tube is too long for the kitchen sink water pressure. It is easy to fix by shortening the tube. I am happy not to have to carry the buckets of water anymore. I highly recommend this product.Read Best Reviews of Lee's The Ultimate Gravel Vac 25' Kit Here
I've had a python for 5 years and was stupid last time I put it away and didn't make sure all the water was out of it and behold, mold! I was looking for something fast on here (since I have prime) and not overly expensive. Lee's was always at the pet store so figured I'd try it. It doesn't have the vacuum power I'm used to, took a half hour to do my 29 gal. Even then I had to refill the tank to finish cleaning the gravel. Not impressed, but it worked just took too long for my taste. Plus side is no leaksI've used this same gravel vac for about 15 years before the plastic became brittle with age and had to be replaced. The hose is long enough to reach from our family room to the basement sink through an air vent. The only problem I've experienced is that the valve that is used to regulate the water either to the sink or to the aquarium leaks some making it a little inefficient. It just takes a little longer to fill the aquarium.Wednesday, November 27, 2013

Natural Nitrate Reducer Salt Water Conditioner
Before using this product, I read a bunch of reviews on reef central about it, including it's chemical makeup, biological action and success/failure in dozens of people's reef tanks. The group consensus is that the product appears to work in reef tanks with a moderate to light bio-load. In my own tank, it is being used in conjunction with a deep sand bed, strong skimmer, chaeto & miracle mud refugia. The overkill of using the IO NNR is due to the fact that my family love fish, so it's a little fish heavy for a 40 gallon breeder reef tank. My nitrate levels are consistently below 5 ppm since starting using the product and considering the space constraints and expense of setting up a bio-pellet reactor, this was the best solution for our situation. Vodka dosing can be tricky to find the right level and bacterial blooms can be a major headache for a skimmer, so going with a grain sized solid carbon source helps in that it's almost impossible to overdose the tank. The bacteria will consume the solid carbon food source at a more consistent rate vs. liquid dosing.
Now, this product doesn't always work for everyone. IMHO, anyone with a very high nitrate level due to a high bio-load might consider two things: Their cleaning/water change routine and reducing the bio-load (i.e., fewer fish, lighter feedings, etc.). Increasing your skimmer +1 over what you'd think you'd need for your tank is also an advantage. Using more nutrient exporters such as deep sand beds, refugia/miracle mud or harvesting macroalgaes like chaeto and caulerpa from your tank can also help suck out nitrates. Combine these nitrate controls with adequate weekly water changes and you should begin get your nitrates in check. It's not a cure all or replacement for water changes, but it does help. I have a old tank that has been difficult to control nitrate levels. This brought it down to 40-60ppm. Still high, but much better than before. It's worth a try.
Buy Natural Nitrate Reducer Salt Water Conditioner Now
Ok, here's the truth. I read most of these reviews and I usually don't understand a word they say! I have a 75 gallon tank that I took over from my husband when he no longer had time to care for it. I hate doing water changes, and if I do a 20% water change once a month, that's pretty major for me! I love the fish, and I have a super social tank! I have a tang, two cardinals, a coral beauty, a lawnmower blenny, a cinnamon clown, a royal gamma, the type of blenny that looks like an eel, a fox face, a yellow watchman, a recently widowed wrasse, a tiny little blenny with a spot on its tail, and a super tiny little yellow "fish" ... I love feeding them and they love to be fed and so I deal with nitrates more than I would if I didn't feed them so often. What I do, is I use a large toadstool leather coral as my judge for when my nitrates are too high. When he closes up, I know I need to treat the tank and I dose it with this stuff, and sometimes I dose it with Prime also. After a while the leather opens back up and that's that. When I can take a water sample in to the LFS, they generally tell me that my water is fine or that my nitrates are a little high and I need to feed the fish less. So ... I think this stuff works! I don't use it on a regular basis, but after reading the other reviewers I think maybe I should start using it weekly. Hope this helps!Read Best Reviews of Natural Nitrate Reducer Salt Water Conditioner Here
nothing at all will lower nitrates better than water changes and good biological filtration. That being said, I am not sure if this product masks the nitrate or it helps but I maintain my tank very well through biological filtration and 10-20% weekly water changes. I add half the reco dosage once each week to aid in nitrate reduction. Since my API reef kit shows zero I suppose it helps. My tank has zero mechanical filtration outside an oversized skimmer. I use liverock in tank and in refugium. I also use macro algae, deep sand bed and bugs in the refugium. I have been using this for 6 month as part of my weekly routine, would I reco it. Yes, because if its not broke dont fix it. If you have a nitrate problem, try water changes and more bio filtration first. If you get nitrate under control this way, you dont need this product. If you have a heavily stocked tank like I do it might help you with 10% water changes instead of say 20%.Want Natural Nitrate Reducer Salt Water Conditioner Discount?

Kent Marine Pro-Ammonia Detox
However, if you really have to use tap water with a FOWLR tank, I would rather use Seachem Prime. Prime also detoxifies heavy metals and nitrites. A small bottle can be used for a long time.
It's nice to have a bottle as an emergency solution. Let's say you have a dead fish in the tank for a day or two which you didn't notice. You have an Ammonia spike or a nitrite spike. You can just use a little of this or Prime every few hours and you ll remove all the Ammonia or nitrite in the tank. It buys you time so that you can do a few smaller partial water change which is less likely to shock your livestocks. The product itself is very good and safe for shrimp in both fresh and salt water. I had also called the company to ask a question and the customer service was outstanding. I am so pleased that I will not be using any other products from now on.

This product has a horrible sulfur smell, but it SURE works great.I use it to lower ammonia (I have RODI so I don't really care about the chlorine Detox part)
My ammonia levels were .25, I added this stuff, checked levels 10 minutes later and the ammonia was down to 0.
Stuff is amazing...My ammonia level went from .3-.4 to 0 within a few minutes. We've since cut back on fishfood. This product probably saved my marine aquarium.

I've been buying this fish food since 1999 when I set up my first 55 gal tank. (Though not my first tank.) I like to feed my fish a variety of foods to stimulate their time in the wild. This is one of the foods that my community fish like to eat. I've kept rather small fish: male betta splendens, serpae tetras, lemon tetras, zebra danios, black widow and albino tetras, etc. and none had a problem eating the food. They love it.I just this new bottle for when I stock my 55 gal tank I just set up again after a long distance move along with a 10gal tank. I have no problem recommending it to other fish fans.

Well I was hesitant on spending $10 on this and I was right unfortunately. It lasted about 20 minutes before 1 ball didnt squeak and 10 minutes later neither squeaked. Weird thing is there is no visible damage at all I cant see why its not working maybe the squeakers are crushed internally. They were not being aggressive or chewing it, we were just playing fetch. And it was smaller than I expected. I read the other reviews but bought it anyway because I have multiple dogs and there aren't many toys that can be shared. On the plus side it does have a nice bounce and u can throw it like a bola. But if squeaking is a must this toy is not for you.Read Best Reviews of KONG Squeezz Double Ball with Rope for Dogs, Large, Colors Vary Here
We bought this toy for our 2 boston terriers. They absolutely love squeekers, but they usually only last less than 24 hours. Our dogs may only be 25 lbs each, but they play like their 60 lb pitbulls. We've had the toy for over 2 weeks now, and there is not a single hole in the balls, the rope isn't frayed at all and BOTH squeekers still work!!! $10 is a lot for a dog toy, but we pay anywhere from 3-6 at walmart for other toys that last less than a couple days. We will most certainly be buying another! Highly recommended!Want KONG Squeezz Double Ball with Rope for Dogs, Large, Colors Vary Discount?
This toy didn't last as long as I'd hoped. My 60 pound puppy loved it, and we did get to play tug for a few days. Once he started chewing the rope it was over though. The rope isn't terribly durable, but we still have the balls, which have squeakers in them. My dog has started carrying them around the house and chasing them. This toy is a little pricey in my opinion, but was still fun, and if you don't mind the rope not lasting with a heavy chewer, then it's a great toy!
