Pond Pump Max Flow
Ani-mate said that customers should purchase their rebuild kit EVERY year. The rebuild kit for the 1500 gal model costs approx $125. The price of the pump itself was $145. At the end of the warranty period, a Fish Mate pump will cost you almost 3 TIMES the original cost!!!
Beware, do not purchase this product. Ani-mate's (Fish Mate) warranty is a sham! Their pumps seem like a great deal, until you realize they are actually trying to bait you into spending much more of your money after the initial purchase. I am disappointed they do this to honest customers!I purchased this pump as a package deal with the 16 watt bio/uv fish mate filter. It's a great little pump and you can't beat the price. Pump does not come with a filter pad but you can pick one up at places like Lowes or Home Depot. The inlet reciever on the Fishmate filter is a little bit small if you're running a length(5 to 6 feet or more) on a pitch. You might encounter a flow problem.
I stepped the size of the inlet up by gluing a coupling onto it and chose a hose size that fit over the coupling. This fixed the flow problem I was having. I didn't have a problem with too much flow after I did this, it was perfect. If you're running a length that's less then 5 feet(pump to filter) on a pitch, I'd recommend using the standard inlet that's given.
There'a also a "flow valve" that's included with the pump for a waterfall flow adjustment you can modify to use if needed. I bought this product in June with the filter to hook up to it, right around algae season. All things considered, this is the most bang for my buck I've ever gotten. My pond water has been crystal clear since I installed this. Not very loud (barely a hum, probably less if you have a deeper pond), and quite powerful, this is one of the best investments I have made for my pond.

This pump is replacing another exactly like it that failed after less than two years. It has a three year warranty; however, I did not have purchase documentation for failed pump. Will keep it for this one.Want Pond Pump Max Flow Discount?
I have the Fish Mate 600. Have used it for three years. This will be the fourth season. When I first used it this year, didn't work.I open up the pump assembly (easy) and there's a help line phone number inside the impeller housing! I guess for people like me who lose the paperwork.
I call the number. A human being answers the phone. Tells me I need to service the pump. I order the service/parts kit for twenty bucks.
Takes all of ten minutes to service the pump. I put it in the pond, it works perfectly. This is what I call no BS service. Also, the output is excellent to drive my filter
in my 300 gallon pond. I highly recommend this product.

Chew Proof Sm An High Rise
The small starter cage from the pet store was way too small, and too messy as the little guys would dig and throw the bedding all over the floor. This drove me crazy. They also chewed up the plastic ramps.
Then, we tried 2 different tall plastic bins with a piece of screen over the top. We weren't happy with that either, as we couldn't interact with the gerbils at all. They are BIG jumpers, so if we took off the screen to interact with them, they would jump straight out of the bin, and it was the tallest bin we could find!
So, this product was the solution and we are so happy with it. I found the 10 gallon fish tank at a super store for only 10 bucks. Great deal.
I agree, the little platforms are a little hard to put in, and I had to push a little to get them to work right, but still well worth the money. Mine seems very stable, and I don't feel the need for zip ties as other users have.
The small blue dish and the blue wheel are from the other cage we had. I was happy to see that the wheel would work with this cage as well. After reading some of the prior reviews, I was a little concerned about the quality of this product, but I have to say, it met and exceeded my expectations, especially for the very reasonable price! Our hamster has been desperately trying to escape her 10 gallon glass aquarium home too small and cramped. But we did NOT want one of the plastic homes. Prior experience tells me that they become chew toys and end up with sharp edges and holes in the walls. Also didn't want to spend tons of money on a huge new cage.
Our product came exactly as pictured. I wonder if prior reviewers were expecting it to come with the 10 gallon aquarium part it does not, and the description makes that very clear. You need to buy the glass aquarium separately, and they are very cheap at most pet stores. It was very easy to assemble, less than five minutes. We did not need zip ties or any other supplemental wiring or connectors. I do have to note that it does not fit perfectly across the top of our base aquarium, but with the springloaded clips, it is perfectly secure and we have no problems with it staying in place.
The layout does make it very difficult to access the bottom level of the cage without removing the entire top, but if you keep the food bowl in the "penthouse" then you only have to remove the top for cleanings. The hamster is much happier with the additional space and loves exploring.
All in all, we are extremely pleased with this product. It does exactly what we bought it to do, it works exactly as intended, and the price was much better than comparable products. I recommend it for your hamster or gerbil friends!

The customer image is the actual product sold (ty). I am glad I was told I might have been upset if I thought I was getting a bigger item. I am happy with the size I have as my gerbils are a little timid to climb. I'd recommend this product for gerbils they would chew thru the plastic version that is available for le$$. It's been said two gerbils require a 10-20 gallon. I think this was the perfect tank extension for my two pets to get the space they need.

Before I purchased this, I looked up all over the internet trying to find info on the wire bar spacing of this high rise cage and could not find it. So, I took a chance and ordered it anyway. Now, I can share with others the bar space measurement, which is very important to know when you have small pets! The bar spaces are 3/8-inch(which is 1 cm). I got it to use for mice and have not had any trouble with escapees. There was one corner where one bar is distanced further, so I cross-wrapped some wire around that small spot, so that I wouldn't have to worry about my mice making the great escape. I would recommend going over the cage before you put your pets in to make sure there are no areas like this...all it takes is one spot a little wider than the others and small mice or hamsters can slip out. Also, in the item description here on Amazon it says the measurements of the cage are: 19-1/2-inch width by 11-inch depth by 10-1/2-inch height. However, this is not the actual measurement. As stated on the box it comes in the measurements are: 20 1/2 width by 10 3/4 depth and 10 1/2 inch height. This fits perfectly on a ten gallon aquarium. Also, the Amazon description says that it comes with a wheel and tunnel tubes, which it does not. I am going to email Amazon, so that they can correct the description. It does come with a water bottle and food dish. I already have a water bottle, though, so I didn't even try this one. (edited to add that I tried the water bottle just to see if it works...it leaks like crazy! With some adjustment, I got it to stop leaking out the metal ball part, but then it started leaking at the seam where it screws together...so it went in the garbage!)
This cage comes folded up with all the sides all ready connected to the top, so you just attach the J hooks of the sides together and then attach the shelves and ramps inside. It comes with two shelves and two ramps, which with the aquarium makes it a three story house. I didn't have any trouble assembling it...it just takes a little patience attaching the shelves inside, as you have to maneuver your hands and the shelves around the inside of the cage to connect them. They are also attached with J hooks. It says you don't need any tools, but I borrowed my Dad's pliers to pinch the J hooks tighter where the ramps connect to the shelves. My mouse that I had in another cage always got under the ramp and would bump it(maybe trying to move it) and when I tested these ramps by putting my hand under them and giving them a bump, they lifted right off. I didn't want my mice getting hurt by falling ramps, so I just pinched those hooks tighter with the pliers and now they are secure.
When I was considering buying this, I was confused by the conflicting reviews, as some said it was great and others said it had broken and bent wires, etc. But, I knew Amazon always gives 100% refund if an item arrives damaged, so I went ahead and ordered it. No problem with mine, so hopefully the company that makes these has better quality control now.
On the box, it states the cage is for hamsters, gerbils, mice, and rats. I really can't imagine a rat having enough room in there when they're full grown, but I've never had a rat before(only mice), so maybe I'm not the one to say. I just always love my pets to have plenty of room and for mice, this gives them lots of fun space. The mice cages at pet stores seem so small, so I had been using a big plastic bin, but this is much nicer(no plastic...yay!) and easier to view the little critters. It has a large snap door opening in the top, so you can reach in to interact with your pets. The cage is easy to lift off...you just lift the spring loaded clamps on each side and it lifts right off. Those clamps are attached to the cage and you pull them down to clamp under the black rim of your aquarium. But, they are SPRING loaded, so if you have children, be sure they know not to fiddle with them...when I first took the cage off the aquarium, I just snapped them up and they jumped up like a gerbil...you wouldn't want a child's hand to get hurt or startle the inhabitants of the cage. The cage feels secure on top of the tank; I tried rocking it back and forth and it stays securely. I have found it works great for mice.
I made an extra shelf to put on the second story, so now the second story is a full floor. I used metal grating like the type used for these shelves. I got it at a hardware store (I got the more expensive kind, because the less expensive kind had rough metal). I cut it to size with overlap on the front and back...that way the overlap is what holds it in place when I clamp the cage on. I attached felt around all the edges to cover any sharp points where it was cut with wire cutters. My girlfriend bought this for me as an early Christmas present because i'm getting a pet rat. When it arrived it was bent when i pulled it out of a box, making it hard to put together. The clip that clips it to the cage was broken and rusted. the product is unusable. Do not buy this product, it is a waste of 30 dollars.

Coralife Pure-Flo II Per Day TFC Membrane
The box is labeled with a UPC code that matches the Coralife-branded filter on several other websites, so maybe this was a problem with the supplier, or maybe somebody bought the real thing and returned it with a cheaper brand inside thinking Amazon wouldn't catch it. I'm exchanging it and a new one is being shipped. When it's received I will update this review when I find out if the correct brand is shipped this time.I make a lot of water for my salt water tank, this product insures that I get all chemicals out of the water. Tetra 29181 Finding Nemo Aquarium Cube, 1.5 Gallons
Great little design, no leaks, filter is cute and relatively functional, however the air pump is not very stable and is prone to falling over and making a loud vibrating noise. It seems to want to follow the hose, so make sure you position the hose well.
The tank includes almost everything you need, EXCEPT gravel. So, when your kids open it up looking for it, you will need to come up with a good excuse (or, after reading this review, buy it and have it ready). Food, water conditioner, decoration, lights, etc., are all included. Make sure to rinse everything very well. Be careful not to use any soap as the residue may kill anything you put into the tank. A good thorough rinse should do the trick. Then, try to fill the tank and let it run for a couple of days before adding a fish (we put one Beta in each tank and they are both doing very well). The acrylic is very clear, and the cover is VERY good for keeping toys, hands, etc., out of the tank. I did not give it five stars because of the pump and the lack of gravel. Even still, I would have given 4.5 stars if it were available, as the gravel is not such a big deal (don't forget to rinse it VERY, VERY well before adding it into the tank). This aquarium, along with other small "starter kit" aquariums are inadequate for the needs of most fish (even smaller fish like tetras and danios) and promote impulse buying of fish (particularly goldfish. more on that below).
Aquarium "kits" give many people the impression that they can just buy the kit, fill it with dechlorinated water, and dump in the fish. This causes so much heartache for the poor buyer, as they will see their brand new fish go belly up within days or even hours depending on the conditions of the tank and fish. :(
The reason for this is because in a "kit" aquarium, the buyer is not encouraged to CYCLE the tank That is, allow bacteria to build up in the systema process that can take days, but there are treatments that can be added to the water to speed up the process.
If that weren't bad enough, the dimensions of the aquarium here itself (1.7 gallons?) are severely inadequate for most types of fish, as I stated above. Fish need room to swim around, lest they become ill or overly stressed. (with the exception of really slow moving fish, of course...like bettas, etc).
In a large, healthy aquarium, there are many types of beneficial bacteria living in the ceramic media at the bottom of the filter. This is good. It breaks down the toxic fish waste and ammonia and all is well with the aquarium.
A small aquarium is doubly bad for the novice, as problems with the water quality can get deadly to the fish much much faster than they could in a large aquarium. There is no room for error in a tiny 1.7 gallon cube.
Though to a beginner, a large aquarium may seem daunting, the novice hobbyist will have much better luck with a 30 gallon. Water changes are done less frequently, and if the filter goes out in a 30 gallon aquarium, you won't have to drop everything and immediately go out and buy a new one. You can wait a day.
A little word about goldfish: goldfish require a large aquarium to suit their needs. They are very dirty fish, and produce lots of...err...waste, so they would need a larger aquarium as well as a pretty efficient filtration system. Even in a large aquarium (20-30 gallons) just one goldfish would require at least weekly partial water changes.
Goldfish also get HUGE. Some can grow to 8-12 inches. They can also live 20-30 years. So, when a goldfish dies after five years, it didn't die of old age...just so you know.
About my fish: I keep two Oranda goldfish (those are the little guys with puffy red caps on their heads) named Pork and Beans in a 25 gallon rectangular aquarium. When they get too big, I will either sell one, or transfer them to a larger 30-40 gallon.
hope this helps! :)

We bought this for my son's 3rd bday. He is a huge nemo fan. We opened the package and the tank was completely cracked. After reading the enclosed packing materials I finally figured out that we could take this back to the Pet Smart here in town. They were super helpful. They helped us determine that a BETA would do better in here than a goldfish. Goldfish need more space than this small (? 1.5 gallon) tank can provide. Kent Marine Pro-Ammonia Detox
However, if you really have to use tap water with a FOWLR tank, I would rather use Seachem Prime. Prime also detoxifies heavy metals and nitrites. A small bottle can be used for a long time.
It's nice to have a bottle as an emergency solution. Let's say you have a dead fish in the tank for a day or two which you didn't notice. You have an Ammonia spike or a nitrite spike. You can just use a little of this or Prime every few hours and you ll remove all the Ammonia or nitrite in the tank. It buys you time so that you can do a few smaller partial water change which is less likely to shock your livestocks. The product itself is very good and safe for shrimp in both fresh and salt water. I had also called the company to ask a question and the customer service was outstanding. I am so pleased that I will not be using any other products from now on.

110V 300W 300-Watt Anti-Explosion Submersible Aquarium Fish Tank Water Heater with Built-In Thermos
And that is why the lower rating is a bit slow, took a bit more than 24 hours to raise the Temp 7 degrees! It is in Celsius, so if you do not know how to convert it (learn how to use Google). Honestly, for the price and I have a monitoring system on my 210G saltwater tank, it's great. This heater should be sufficient to heat a 75 gallon aquarium with powerheads & cascade 1000 to heat the tank past 73 degrees Fahrenheit. Now I have to buy another heater. Get what you pay for.!Not what is pictured; only worked for @ 3 weeks have asked for replacement. The temperature setting is celcius; hard to adjust and only worked for a few weeks before one of the internal pieces turned brown and it stopped working. HOWEVER, the vendor has been very responsive and nice to work with and has sent replacements. Unfortunately, they package these in envelopes and the glass tubes are crushed during shipment. Finnex Digital Temperature Control Glass Heater, 100-Watt
What you get is a modern looking heater with a very nice and easy to read screen which shows the current water temperature, but when you are setting your desired temp it will show the temp you desire and then switch back to the current temperature of the water. This heater appears to be of very high quality construction. Very solid ends, suction cups and even the power cord is just nicer. Everything about it shouts quality. However this is no indicator as to how long it will perform, which in the past for many other heater brands I've owned (Tetra, Marineland, DeepBlue and Marina) is about 6 months or so.
Pros: Appears to be built very well, from the digital screen to the power cord. I love the way it looks. The screen is very easy to read, a plus for me since I do not see so well. I like how you set it by simply pressing a button on top until you reach your desired temperature. I really prefer this method of setting the desired temperature over the knobs on most other heaters which you must twist to set the temperature which may or may not have markings and most are very hard to see while the heater is still in the aquarium, but not so with the digital screen on this one. I can also attest that my heater's thermostat matches my thermometer perfectly, rare with aquarium heaters in my experience so far.
Cons: Has a separate temperature probe, which helps maintain overall water temperature more accurately (a plus) but some might see it as unsightly (a con). It doesn't bother me at all, it is small and high quality like the rest of the heater.
At this point I would recommend this product with the only hesitation being that I do not know how long it will last, but if it lasts 6 or so months, then it is on par with other brands I've had many of in the past and I prefer these over them. Hopefully it will last for years, or at least a couple years. I'll try to remember to update this review on the longevity of the heater.
I current have 8 aquarium up and running in my home.
