So definately two thumbs up, and I plan on buying at least one more of these tanks for yet another betta in the future. The filter makes the current way too strong for any small fish to live in here comfortably. And if you put anything bigger than a betta, you aren't really giving your fish enough space....so I don't understand what good this tank is. I bought mine from Petco directly and returned itMy fish love this tank and I love the LED lighting which has a blue and white light option. Now for the issues. I've had it for less than a year and the white LED is turning into a strobe light, blinking on and off so something is up with the wiring. The filter works great but I don't live anywhere near a petco so getting the right size filter is a huge pain. there is a size that walmart sells that is really close but you have to force it in and fight with it to get it out. otherwise it's a nice tank with a good view.

Aquarius Aq15005 Aquarius 5 Rounded 5-Gallon Aquarium Kit
The tank:
The "Panaview" idea is a bit false. Because of the hard curve on the corners, it can be very difficult to see what is happening at the edges of the tank, a few inches from the acrylic. That said, for the most part, the flat front leads to clear views of what is inside, and if my shrimp are close to the wall, I can see them whether they are behind the curve or not.
The lid fits into a pair of hinges, but doesn't actually snap in. Makes it very easy to open, leave open, close, and best of all, remove easily for water changes and prevent it from overbalancing backward when aquarium is empty.
The one drawback to the lid is that there is enough room to hook the little hook for holding the filter over the back, and that's about it, unless you're going to do some modifying. Honestly, getting the cord for the heater I use through is a snug fit. This is good for, say, crabs, crayfish, and stronger shrimp that may attempt to go on 'walkabout', but it doesn't allow a lot of space to add additional items such as a sponge filter, airstone, etc. Without the filter in place, I can *just* fit a single airline and the heater cord through the hole. On the one single tank that I use all three, I have simply drilled an additional hole in the lid for the airline. Easy breezy--if you have a drill. That said, I don't anticipate most people attempting to add additional stuff beyond perhaps a filter. Keep in mind, I use it for invertebrates that can climb out--I have dwarf crays in one, and mini-crabs in with my cherry shrimp. If you have nothing that you're worried about getting out, there is a cut-out option for a HOB (hang on back) filter and heater (don't use an HOB heater on this, please! But they will leave large holes, and they don't, honestly, look very easy to remove. The tabs that hold the cutouts in place look quite strong. I have never attempted to remove them, and I can't imagine that I ever will. For my purposes, if I need an extra airline fed in, I'm just going to drill a tight fitting hole, which I suspect is less work anyway.
The lighting:
Their is a bank of nine white LED lights, and nine blue ones. They can be set to have either the white, the blue, or both in place. The light level is enough for lower light plants, such as java moss, java fern, dwarf lily, or most hygrophilia, but if you're thinking of making a nano or pico tank, you'll need to work on the lighting. (If you don't know what I'm talking about there, it's honestly not a concern....though....look it up, as it's a very fun hobby! XD)
I don't think that this tank is terribly aesthetic without the lid it comes with, as it has a lip similar to that on the critter keepers....I honestly don't know how to explain it, but basically, it's a hollow lip that I can fit my fingertips under. Looks better hidden.
The Filter;
I admit to not using this in any of my tanks, but for one. It is a submerged filter, with an open top, and decent sized intake vents. The water flow is also surprisingly strong from it. All said, it would be perfect for a betta (providing it's still hale and healthy...a weak or very old betta may get sucked up against the intake), or other smaller fish. Not so good with my mini-shrimp and other inverts that I keep in here. The entire design is quite open, and shrimp climbing in for the delicious detritus on the insert only to be sucked through the impeller is an all too realistic reality. Not to say that I haven't found use for these, however!!! I keep them in my tank of pre-aged, pre-cycled water that I use for tank changes, and use them for quiet and decent water movement to prevent stagnation. Generally, I've been using them more as a micro-powerhead than a filter. XD I've been pleased, as so far, they all continue to move water rapidly and well, but then, they also aren't really contending with any serious bioload--just that of a few cory's that tool around and help the water I use for water changes in my more delicate tanks age and get it matched perfectly, chemistry wise.
That's about it to this tank. Not a super high tech little setup, but if you're planning on keeping a few smaller, cool water fish (ie: white clouds), it'll work. Better yet, get yourself a sponge filter, a heater, and some shrimp! Not that I'm biased or anything. LOL
A random side note NOT related to this product, but very much related to fish keeping:
If you decide to keep A FEW small, tropical fish and pick up a heater....pick up a good one. Read the reviews. Heaters can kill your fish very quickly if they fail, not to mention cheap ones present a fire hazard. I state this because I once had a cheap hang on back heater literally melt through the wall of one of these tanks when it failed, to much loss of life, very sadly.. You get what you pay for!We decided to get a few fish and a small tank for our son for his 10th birthday and it has been everything we haoped it would for him and this tank has helped make it a great gift. The tank is small enough to fit on a dresser top, has a lighted cover, very clear plastic for viewing, and comes with a little filter so you have a wider option of fish you can house.
The first few weeks I had been complaining that the included filter was underpowered and didn't seem to be doing a good job keeping the tank clean, but I have since learned that the rocks I chose were the key problem and were effetively locking the gunk down in the bottom and it wasn't the filter's fault at all. I was using the larger decor rocks that are upwards of .75" each. Advice to those buying this tank, use the typical small rocks that come in the 2.5# bags and lok look large chunk kitty litter, that will be more accomodating with this filter.

I was really pleasantly surprised when I unpacked and set up this aquarium. Very easy! It's just the right size for smaller fish and looks great on a desk...or anywhere! The filter works very well and the lighting is nice. Highly recommend.Update Aug. 30: Still highly pleased with the tank. Everything still works and the water is staying nice & clean with the included filter. Very happy!
Update: Oct. 24, 2012: Still really like the aquarium, but the on/off switch for the lights stopped working...the lights will only stay on...I have unplugged the light, which is fine as I have African-clawed frogs in the aquarium and they don't need extra lighting.

I don't understand all the good reviews for this tank! Besides that it was inexpensive, and the lights are fine, there is nothing good to say about it. The hood was beyond bizarre -the big filter thing that you have to hang over the back of the tank and into the inside can't be installed until you CUT OUT a big chunk of the hood... why isn't it designed with a piece that simply lifts out??? The piece you cut out is made to be cut out (??) but I had to use a sturdy serrated knife to do it, and I'm really lucky I didn't get severely injured in the process. The filter itself doesn't hang at the proper angle, so I have a children's book wedged between the motor of the filter and the outside of the tank. Lovely. And the filter has a constant loud hum... makes me realize just how quiet (silent, in fact) my old tank filter was (i had a small Aqueon tank). I have to return this, I guess, what a pain! You get what you pay for, in this case.Want Aquarius Aq15005 Aquarius 5 Rounded 5-Gallon Aquarium Kit Discount?
I love the tank. It's a perfect fit to go right on top of my dresser. The lights look really good as well. There was a small crack where the lights are, but nothing worth fussing over. It still works perfectly fine. The filter was working great while I had it running, unfortunately it's too strong for my poor little beta fish. Betta's don't like currents as it is, so I think I'm going to switch over to a sponge filter. But besides that the product id great with an unbeatable price! (:Saturday, October 18, 2014
Pet Buddies PB1719 Googlie Stanley Skunk Large Toy
Luckily my niece has a boxer/english mastiff cross and she has destroyed every toy but this one. Well, until now haha.
She's just now after several weeks managed to gnaw off a single leg, but its still her favorite toy, and for a dog with a boxer's energy and a mastiff's size and power--that says something.
Definitely worth the money, provided your dog is a serious enough sized dog to enjoy it. I'd recommend this one for dogs anywhere from 45lbs+ in size. Basically medium sized and up.I gave this to my sister for her dog. Her dog loves to play with it. She says he takes it all over the house.

My previous post: "When I tried to assemble the filter the Bio-Wheel coupling did not fit over the male portion of the Outlet Adapter BW Pro Tube from the filter. The Outlet Adapter Tube was not glued correctly such that the part that is supposed to couple with the Bio-Wheel is not at right angles and therefore impossible to line up with the coupling. I wrote to the supplier for a replacement Adapter Tube. Will update."Now the update (belated): About 10 days after I sent the e-mail with photo to Big Al's Online I received the replacement part no charge. Filter and biowheel works perfect. I will definitely buy from Big Al's Online (through Amazon.com) again. I had used this filter before but without the biowheel. Simply love it. I especially like that I can have a clean micron filter ready to replace the dirty one and have the filter back to the tank running within 10 minutes without the mess. Highly recommended. I also use a Marineland PC0350PSB Magnum 350 for my bigger tank and love it for the same reason. When maintenance is easy you will do it regularly.

I'm rating this 4 stars because it is a powerful filter and preforms well with my tank. The reason why I did not give 5 stars is because the picture was misleading on the parts that I would receive. ie: Syphoning hose & cardboard carton with added media or such were missing; with the first order and also the replacement order.Amazon did take care of my situation; so I would recommend that you purchase from this seller.

Boyd Enterprises ABE16705 Chemipure Filter Media for Aquarium, 10-Ounce
For what Chemi-pure is specified to be used for, it is my favorite chemical filtration for my Malawi's. I typically stick two 10oz bags in the top bucket of my Eheim canister filter and fill the gaps with filter floss. On a rule of thumb, one 10oz bag is good for 40 gallons or less. It lasts about 3 months max.the product is good in the filter canister for about 6 months. it is great also for fresh water fish tanks, but mainly to keep salt water marine life tanks.

Seachem Stability 500ml
Buy Seachem Stability 500ml Now
I have used this product multiple times to start quarantine tanks and hospital tanks (marine tanks, with both fish and coral.) It works; it's worked every time. I've never had my tanks spike ammonia or nitrite when using this product as directed. I'm amazed how many websites & forums claim that no such product exists. Also, the reviewer who says that you have to keep using it is wrong, for so many reasons (the bacteria don't get used up and die, they multiply, just like all bacteria, and also, all of the bacteria that would normally be in your tank if you cycle the traditional way will also still exist in the tank.) I've never used the product beyond 7 days, not even with water changes, and my tanks have never "crashed" when I stopped using this. I would, however, consider stocking the tank lightly, and gradually building up stock.Read Best Reviews of Seachem Stability 500ml Here
This product has worked for me and the people I know who use it. Whether it's for starting a new tank or for use after killing the bacteria bed when medicating a tank. I've seen it cull a nitrite spike and keep new tank syndrome from happening. For larger tanks, a bottle wouldn't last long, but it's definitely worth it. I mean, who wants to wait to start a tank, or who wants to watch their fish die from ammonia or nitrite poisoning. So I would get a 500 mL bottle if you have anything bigger than a 20 or 29 gallon. That way you'll have some to start the tank and some later on, just in case. I've only seen it used for freshwater aquariums.Want Seachem Stability 500ml Discount?
I have been using Stability as a backup for quite some time. I think it is good at providing bacteria that help process waste that settles on the bottom. Great compliment to the regular nitrifying bacteria that grow in the ordinary course.UPDATE: 09/22/2012 Still using Stability every time I do a partial water change and I've never had a problem. I just meaure the correct amount in the cap and give the tank a shot. I really think it helps.

After reading the other review, this product seemed like it might be a miracle product. I'm afraid it wasn't true for me. I ended up having to throw my beautiful 5 x 8 area rug in my living room away. I was so upset that this didn't work for me. This rug really tied in all of my furniture in my LR and I don't know that I will find another. Not only did the product not work for me but it caused an extreme allergic reaction. I noticed as soon as I started using this product I could walk in the room and almost couldn't breath. In addition I had a automatic extreme build up of saliva in my mouth. Causing me to spit constantly. For my health I had to throw out the rug and quit using this product. Be very careful if you suffer from allergies.Friday, September 13, 2013

Fluval Filter/Light Cube with Transformer and Media Replacement for Fluval Chi 19L Aquarium Kit
The replacement filter:
When the filter arrived it made a rattling sound when I took it out of the box like something inside was broken. When I plugged the filter in the water pump didn't work making the unit useless. It was returned.
The original filter:
After only having my Fluval Chi for two moths the tab on the filter door that keeps the filter media inside broke off. This caused the filter door to sometimes fall open when it was in tank and also open every time I pulled the filter out of the tank to clean it. This let all of the fish waste that has been trapped by the filter to go back into the tank. Soon after the tab on the filer door broke the light on the top of the fountain stopped working. Then the light switch that controls the light for the tank broke off....
All in all I was very disappointed with the quality of this filter (I'm starting to feel that way about all Fluval products). Fluval is usually considered a superior brand in the fish keeping hobby but this product did not live up to the Fluval reputation. I would not recommend purchasing this filter. My tank's cube fell apart and I didn't want to have to purchase the entire set up. This new cube works great and saved me enough to buy extra filters, too.I am pleased with the ease and speed of the amazon service. However, the product itself seems to be of less quality than the original filter/light cube I had.
Issues with original: the light switch broke and the light was stuck on which causes to much stress for the fish and the algae was growing like crazy.
Issues with replacement: the box does not sit perfectly horizontal (it tilts forward) so that the water does not flow over all edges evenly and the strength of the pump is not as good and thus the water is unable to flow up into the rock basket and create a waterfall at that level.
If I was that handy/skilled I would take the good components of both cubes into one so it worked as it should.
Many thanks,This item was ordered to replace my current Fluval filter/ light where the light had stopped working. I have had the unit for 3 years. I put the replacement unit on and the light stopped working in less than 3 weeks. Very dissappointed. AnnThis is just what I needed, I considered throwing the tank away but decided to search for a replacement. Satisfied now!

Aqueon Full-Spectrum Daylight T8 Fluorescent Lamp
We have four very colorful Shubunkin goldfish. When they were small, we had them in a standard 55-gallon aquarium that came equipped with the 8000K Aqueon bulbs. The tank had a dark navy blue background. The Aqueon 8000K bulbs were perfect for the combinations of colors in the fish (orange, brown, blue, silver, and white) as well as the dark solid color background. In fact, the colors of these fish were pleasingly vivid under this light.
After a year, the fish were getting too large for the 55-gallon tank, so we moved to a 120-gallon. I purchased a custom-made hood with a pair of HO T5 bulbs, one at 6500K, the other at 10,000K, because an 8000K bulb was not available in a T5. The T5 bulbs were extremely bright and lit the tank to the point I thought I'd have to buy sunglasses for the fish. Algae growth increased dramatically. The new lights also imparted a greenish cast to the navy blue background. And, the HO ballasts emitted a lot of heat.
I purchased a different hood that held a pair of T8 bulbs, trying several different combinations from ZooMed. It was amasing how slightly different C/T bulbs affected the colors of the fish, gravel, and background. Bulbs at 6500K literally turned the fishes' colors from vivid to very washed-out. I ultimately went back to the Aqueon 8000K bulb for the main light, and used a Zoo Med Coral Sun Actinic 420 Coral Bulb T8 32 Watts, 48-Inch in the second slot. Together, the 8K Aqueon and the Coral Sun Actinic 420 provide a very pleasing level of color and intensity of light to the 120-gallon tank. At night, shutting off the Aqueon and leaving the Coral Sun Actinic on by itself, lends a cool "moonlight glow" to the tank.
From my experience, I've learned that manufacturer's stated color/temperature ratings can vary quite a bit. Finding a bulb (or bulbs) that provide a pleasing level of color and intensity may require some trial and error.
If you have a tank with live plants, the Aqueon 8000K bulb may not provide the correct spectrum or intensity of light. We had a few plants in our tank, but the fish ate them almost as fast as we could replace them, so I can't report on how well the Aqueon bulbs will support a planted tank. YMMV.
Finally, we have been using the Aqueon 8000K bulbs in our tanks for over two years. We've never had a failure or problem with them.Installed first week of May this year burned out today 8 Sept this year. Bought another don't tell me why.

Finnex Digital Temperature Control Glass Heater, 100-Watt
What you get is a modern looking heater with a very nice and easy to read screen which shows the current water temperature, but when you are setting your desired temp it will show the temp you desire and then switch back to the current temperature of the water. This heater appears to be of very high quality construction. Very solid ends, suction cups and even the power cord is just nicer. Everything about it shouts quality. However this is no indicator as to how long it will perform, which in the past for many other heater brands I've owned (Tetra, Marineland, DeepBlue and Marina) is about 6 months or so.
Pros: Appears to be built very well, from the digital screen to the power cord. I love the way it looks. The screen is very easy to read, a plus for me since I do not see so well. I like how you set it by simply pressing a button on top until you reach your desired temperature. I really prefer this method of setting the desired temperature over the knobs on most other heaters which you must twist to set the temperature which may or may not have markings and most are very hard to see while the heater is still in the aquarium, but not so with the digital screen on this one. I can also attest that my heater's thermostat matches my thermometer perfectly, rare with aquarium heaters in my experience so far.
Cons: Has a separate temperature probe, which helps maintain overall water temperature more accurately (a plus) but some might see it as unsightly (a con). It doesn't bother me at all, it is small and high quality like the rest of the heater.
At this point I would recommend this product with the only hesitation being that I do not know how long it will last, but if it lasts 6 or so months, then it is on par with other brands I've had many of in the past and I prefer these over them. Hopefully it will last for years, or at least a couple years. I'll try to remember to update this review on the longevity of the heater.
I current have 8 aquarium up and running in my home.
