I have an albino bushynose pleco, and I can't get her to eat anything. I've tried several different types of fruits and veggies. I've given her enough time to figure out that it's food, but she never touches anything I put in the tank. Every single time I drop in an algae wafer at night, she completely ignores it (clouding up my tank and making a horrible mess). This was my last hope and it seems to be working. I've only had it in the tank for a few days and I've already seen her on it several times.

Chemi-pure is a bag of active carbon with ion absorption resins mixed in. It is a chemical filter that provides chemisorption and diffusion of gases, and the ion absorption resins as the name implies absorb dissolved ions in the water through a process known as ion exchange. It doesn't do anything for cloudy water but it isn't designed to, so I'm not sure what the last guy was expecting. It's like buying hand lotion and saying it doesn't do anything for sweaty armpits. For cloudy water he should have relied on frequent small water changes, or a diatomaceous earth filter.

For what Chemi-pure is specified to be used for, it is my favorite chemical filtration for my Malawi's. I typically stick two 10oz bags in the top bucket of my Eheim canister filter and fill the gaps with filter floss. On a rule of thumb, one 10oz bag is good for 40 gallons or less. It lasts about 3 months max.

the product is good in the filter canister for about 6 months. it is great also for fresh water fish tanks, but mainly to keep salt water marine life tanks.

Use this product for both my tropical and african mbuna cichlid tanks keeps water crystal clear and lasts longer than regular charcoal media. This is a perfect fit for Aqueon and All Glass brand 75 gallon aquariums. I have several aquariums (Aqueon 20L, Marineland 55 gallon) and this is the tightest fitting top. U.P. Aqua Mini Thermometer (F)

As the product title states, it's a mini thermometer. The only temps listed are in increments of 10 deg with a 5 deg mark in-between. You won't be able to read a precise temp from it, but it's decent for a rough guess if that's all you need. As far as accuracy, it's hard to tell because reading it's always a "best guess." I used a digital thermometer to try to measure this products accuracy and from what I could tell, the digital thermometer always read about 3-4 degrees higher. I decided this wasn't worth the effort of guessing and stopped using it.

Would not recommend unless your not interested in a true reading and only need a 5 degree range.

I had gravel as many fish owners started with. But, I went sand and I will never go back. Especially with THIS sand! It's so beautiful and fine, my fish love it and even though it is a very 'dusty' sand if you rinse it off first, it's perfect. It's so easy to clean. My loaches, guppies, and betas adore it. Not to mention Xmas moss and java moss LOOOOOVE it. Hornwort works well in it, too.

However, with every pro there is a con.

It's sand. Twenty pounds of sand that you are playing 17 dollars for when you can buy a very high quality sand like this in the pool section of your local store. I think it's way too high priced!

We wanted a bright white sand for our new aquarium and decided to go with this one. I'm so glad we did! It's very fine, and a beautiful white color. Since it is so fine, I was worried that it might stir up easily, but it's been perfect in our aquarium. We have a 15 gallon tank, about one foot square, so the 20 lbs gave us 2-3 inches of sand on the bottom. I think if you've got a more traditional shaped tank you'll need more than one bag.

One thing to keep in mind is that the sand won't be as white once it's wet. I was dissapointed when I rinsed it and it turned to a light cream color. It's not a flaw in the sand, I just didn't think about how sand changes color when wet, so I wanted to toss it in for people to keep in mind. With the light on in the tank, this sand still looks white, much whiter than any sand that we could have bought at a local store.

It's a little pricey, but we're going to look at the tank every day. The extra cost was worth it to love how the aquarium looks!

Aquavista 500 Wall Mounted Aquarium with Coral Reef Background

First, I would like to say that if you are considering buying this product, you should read this. I was very mislead by the youtube videos, and all the product reviews on this product. I have had this product for over 6 months. Let me explain to you, my story.

1. Purchased Product, Received Product fairly quick. Missing Mint Cloth, Screws & Hardware, also the entire lightning balast system /including bulb.

No problem? Just exchange it right? Wrong. 2nd Product Received with the same accessories missing plus a plastic part on the aquiarum cover/lid was broke off. And instead of the aquarium saying Aquavista (under where the frame goes, it said "china" embedded in the plastic.)

Hmm.. I think to myself.. This can't happen a third time can it? Why, Yes it can! It came from china. Same missing accessories: Screws & Hardware, cloth, lightning ballast system + bulb. Wow, Right off the bat someone would rate this a 1 star.. Not me, I'm willing to give it a shot!

I call Amazon, they told me to contact Aquavista. Aquavista Customer Service Support was very nice, they sent me Lightning Ballast + bulb that i had to install / + free filters.

After setting up this aquarium, i had bought my own pebbles / Rocks. ( this will become a nightmare as small rocks will fall in the filteration area and become stuck). I followed the manual, waited to put fish in tank.

I have had a horrible time with this tank, I have to clean this tank at least once every week otherwise the tank becomes filthy and fish start dying. I have had horrible, horrible experiences with this tank. Here's one to mention. One morning, GloTetra Disappeared. Hmm.. Where he go? Called aquavista. They told me to check behind the aquarium background. (was really fun trying to take this off after setting aquarium up.) Long story short, in the bottom right side of tank, theres a small hole (between black filter cover and background in corner of tank) where little fishies can get through. SO, Mr. Fish was stuck behind the tank. Long story short, becasue i had to bend background alittle to get fish on other side, small rocks fell between the plastic and background to where the picture would not fit the way it should. Had to take the entire tank apart, fake aquarium plants, small ship, fish, rocks.. everything. This was truely a nightmare. This didn't happen once, but three times. Once with a albino frog (didn't have to take the tank apart because he was easier to get) and also a neon tetra who is decaying in the bottom of the tank under the black filter. Oh yes, this causes disease and all fish will die, Except my Pleco + Frog. I have bought a water testing kit before all of this happened, and the ammoneia levels were extremely high. (50-100% water changes + cleaning of all objects/rocks) per week. To top things off? If you accidently overfill the aquarium with water (there is a meter) water will drip on your floor. But one time dripped on the right side instead of the left side. This caused the LCD touchpad + Screen to short out. Aquavista customer server was extremely nice, and sent me another one for me to replace. I paid $ 140 160 for this product and felt that I extremely over paid for cheap china plastic and poor quality. Poor Filtration in a 5.5 Gal = Death to all fish (cept pleco+frog or other high immune system species)

I would not have gotten this product if I would have known all of this could happen. It's truely a beautiful tank when it is lit up and turned on. Then the beautiful moment is ruined by fish who sink to the bottom of your tank lifeless and dead. Go to your local pet store to buy an aquarium worth spending this much money on.

EDIT 8/4/11: Yep, so.. My frog pretty much lives behind the fish tank and comes out when he wants to.. Great conversation piece to tell people why my frog is stuck behind the "design flawed" tank. Yeah... I've tried blocking all areas where he could possibly get behind with the white rocks it came with.. somehow he manages to still get behind there.. fkn frog.

We purchased our Aquavista 500 tank a few weeks ago. We just love it. We mounted it in our family room and it has become a true conversation piece and a hobby for our family. It took a few hours to mount but that was because I wanted as much electrical hidden as possible. Other than that, the process was easy and as our first aquarium, it is very easy to take care of. I really like how everything is built right in. The programming is simple and we like having the ability to set the timers for lighting, etc. We have two small fish and a dwarf frog in the tank and they all seem happy.

It is a very pretty scene, but do not and I repeat put it anywhere in the house where you are going to sleep because it is extremely noisy.

This is an absolutely amazing product. It brings a new life to any room that you place it in and brings the calm and relaxing feeling that comes with a brilliant fish tank. API Nexx Filter Extension

Looks good very user friendly. The only think I have an issue with is when you link them the

Power isn't increased. Still does a decent job keeping the water clean I would like more flow though.

I really like the Nexx filter systems. They are well priced easy to setup and clean and expandable. I have 5 systems and have had no issues with any. That said, you must be careful setting up the extension canister. If you do not follow the direction exactly, and they are not real clear, you can have a mess. Make sure you power off, remove both the power head and outlet from the water and have a bucket close just in case. If you do this it is clean and easy.

I wouldnt say that these are needed for vertical growing but if you dont already have a lamp socket then this is worth it. It is very sturdy compared to the "converted" socket that i took from my hood after switching from horizontal air cooled hoods. I plan on buying another one. nice long cord too.

Coralife Lunar Aqualight High Output T5 Quad Lamp Fixture

I've been using this fixture for about 6 months now and it has worked great, my corals are thriving. My only complaint is that the fan can be a little loud.

I love the directional LEDs they make showing off specific parts of the tank so easy at night. The lights work great. When you first turn the light on the cooling fans sound like booting up a loud computer tower. It takes from a half hour to an hour to quiet down.

I am a beginner reef aquarist and have found this light to work great so far. I am noticing good growth of coralline algae on my rocks, my soft corals and lps seem to be doing very well, have not ventured into sps yet. I love these lights they are energy efficient and very quiet. Some reviewers said that the fans are loud, I disagree they are whisper quiet. I was also concerned about electric bill but after running for a month, I barely noticed a spike in usual electric usage. I highly recommend these lights. I have a 3 year old Bull Terrier and he is a spinner. I've tried everything to try and get him to stop. Most internet sites say to teach him to sit and make him sit when he starts. I believe it is impossible to teach a chronicly dazed spinning dog to sit. When he is spinning, it is like he forgets all of his surroundings, he'll knock the kids over, move furniture and it drives me crazy. A breeder site recommended the boomer ball to help entertain him. I was skeptical, would my dog really push a ball around the yard with his face? This is not a good ball. It is a hard plastic ball. The dog cannot bite it nor push on it thus I guess the reason for saying it I "indestructible". My dogs just pretty much run around this ball in the yard. Kind of dumb if you ask me.
