EHEIM Jager Aquarium Thermostat Heater, 250-Watt

I bought this heater to replace a Ebo Jager that I had had in my 75 gallon tank and a 70 before that for 10 or 15 years total. I have tried a wide variety of heaters over the past 30 years and there is no other submersible heater that can match an Ebo Jager. The temperature setting was perfectly accurate, dead on at 78 degrees. Did a partial water change and quickly returns to 78 degrees even though I used relatively cool tap water.

This was recommended by many as a top notch aquarium heater so I ordered it. Put it in my 29 gal and it worked great...then the other day I noticed my temps inching up and the heater running even when the temp was higher than what it was set on. I started looking through the manual, oh wow is it bad, in an attempt to figure out what was going on. I am now sending a request to their tech support...and thank goodness it is warm now and I don't need to worry about my fish getting cold! Too bad I am beyond my 30 days with Amazon.

Only used it for two weeks. The temp variance was off by about 2 1/2 degrees. This was adjusted by the variance tab. I check my water temp everyday when it is plugged in. A big plus for me is this is actually made in Germany. You don't see that much anymore. Good build construction. Also, many complain about Eheim being a big heater compared to others. Yes it is, but this extra size allows more surface area to dissipate heat (efficiency) and more separation between heating coils and thermostat.

Don't hesitate to buy one. Really one of the best in tank heaters.

I have been buying the Tetra brand aquarium heaters and they just don't perform and they just don't last. Although it is too early too tell the longevity of this device I can say without question that there was a visible quality difference just in the way the unit appeared and felt. It felt sturdy, and the attachment suction cups were also hiqh quality. With the Tetra heater, I was unable to get my tank above 74 degrees--which was ok but not optimal for the variety of fish that I have. I plugged in the EHEIM and within an hour I was up to 76. I waited a day to acclimate the fish then jumped the temp to 78. The fish are happy and I am too. I have always known of the quality of EHEIM filters and it appears to me that that same care and quality is included in their heaters. I am a fan!

The unit is very cheapily made. After only about 1 month of use many of the LEDS went out. The LEDs used are way to weak to "grow" corals as the seller claims. I would avoid this product.

I would never try this on my reef tank as there is no way it's powerful enough to supplement the light needed for coral growth. I used it on my freshwater tank for a while with no splash and one line of blue went out. The plants seem to like it but it looks more blue than white which is also a bummer.

i have this on a refugium running 8 hrs a day, they are low output LED's so don't expect it to blind you or bleach coral. my only complaint is the one they sent me is 50/50 blue to white. i'd put the color spectrum around 16k

Marina Decor

I was so excited when I first received this. It looks great in my Fluval Ebi tank. The shrimp love to climb on it and the Beta even likes to rest on the top in the cubby-like hole.

The color is nice and natural and makes for a very attractive structure in a planted tanks. It acually looks even better when a bit of algae starts to grow on it. But that's where the trouble started.

I have a couple Nirate snails that love to eat algae. With in a couple days they ate was on the 'Mangrove Root' and the paint that was under the algae came up with it. So now there are sections that are white/gray instead of brown/red.

Luckly I don't think it hurt the snails (they are still alive) but I will be removing this from the tank and using a real piece of driftwood or a nano tree so I don't have to worry about the problem again. It's really too bad because it does look nice. :( oh well, live and learn.

I'm changing my rating to 1 star.

So I took this thing out of my tank and really just about fell on the floor. IT SMELLED SO BAD! because it is hollow, fungus was able to grow inside of it. Seriously... it was so terrible that we had to promptly put it in a garbage bag and store it outside.

Total waste of money. :(

The decoration is well made and looks good in the tank. I looked at the pictures and did not pay a lot of attention to the measurements. It is hard to figure just how large the decorations are. The small size is 4.8 x 7.8 x 4, the medium is 12.7 x 6.8 x 5.1 and the large is 14.6 x 8.4 x 5.5. The medium measures smaller than the small size in one of the measurements and just a little over an inch bigger in another. I bought the small one and it does not have large enough holes for most of the fish to swim though. I do not know if I need a medium or a large. It would helpful if the seller would set them side by side so that you could see the differences better. I believe the large size is pictured on the web, which will allow more than just the smallest fish to swim though. I will look around town and see if I can find this decoration so that I will not end up buying all three sizes. I am giving this 3 stars not because of the quality of the decoration but because of the difficulty figuring out just what size to get for your tank.

Update: I took the chance and bought the large size. I'm positive that it is the one used in the picture but without the plants. It is a little bigger than I wanted but it will work. I did not buy the medium because it didn't measure that much bigger than the small size. If you have a tank that is 20 gal or more you might want to go with the large size if you want your larger fish to be able to use the openings. I have mostly tetras and barbs which are not "big" fish but they don't like to swim through tight areas.

The measurements would be less confusing if they read like the following

Small 4.8 x 7.8 x 4

Medium 6.8 x 12.7 x 5.1

Large 8.4 x 14.6 x 5.5

The first number is the height of the rock on the tallest side

The second number is the length of the decoration

The third number is the height of the rock on the smallest side

The smallest rock and the arch are just about the same size in height.

After a week in the tank, the fish love it. I never had a problem

with the fish decoration, it was the information provided about the product.

If you have a fish with sensitive fins like a betta, you can forget this. The overall texture is extremely rough and sharp.. rough and sharp enough to actaully cut my skin none the less snag some nylons. Also it has 3 places on the ornament where it's obviously they've stuck 2 pieces together.. very crudely with gaps and no texture mesh up. The bottom is hollow.. not sure about that. Too bad. Looks good online. Poorly made and ROUGH.

I'm glad to find this on Amazon so I can share how much my fish enjoy this ornament. They either roost on the very top, or sleep in one of the holes. One of them spends about 10 minutes in each hole before swimming up to perch on his Betta Hammock for a while. I will always use this ornament in my tanks. It doesn't look especially nice in this photo but it's pretty neat. More importantly... they love it!

The caps of the bottles fit perfectly, but somehow when pouring some drops, the "nozzle" leaks a little, thus making me squeeze the bottle very gentle, so i dont have an extra drop on the test.

The thing I certainly hate in this test, is the crystal test tube : the bottom is rounded, so you have to be holding the tube all the time!! and the white plastic cap that goes on top of this tube (so you can shake it) doesnt fit tight, so if you don't use your finger to press the cap, you might end up with the liquid to fly all over...

Thats why I gave them 4 stars, the accuracy is not that bad...

I have a saltwater tank and my coral has been eating the calcium like crazy so I need to test frequently and replenish calcium. I love this test! I have this aquarium. It was my first. It's perfect for anybody who is looking for an aquarium but is scared of breaking the glass. The acrylic is thick and you can see through it just as easily as any glass. Instead of seeing a line of caulk/glue on each corner, the acrylic tank has a smooth sharp turn. The top is glued on. Mine has cut outs for a penguin 330 filter, a small hole for the heater and two larger holes in the middle. They are covered with another piece of acrylic so your lighting wont be splashed. The holes are big enough to move around without any problems.

I have very heavy Holey rock that needs to be taken in and out of the aquarium tank during water changes. I've dropped several big pieces numerous times over the years. I worry about hurting the fish, but never about the tank.

The acrylic tank spoiled me. I was given two glass aquariums since this one. I broke the first one when I was cleaning it. The other one is still in my garage. I've decided to stay with acrylic. It's tough and it's just as clear as glass.

I want to say to check this set and make sure you know what it comes with. The one I have came with the acrylic splash cover, a light/ ballast, heater, and Penguin 330 Filter. SeaClear Aquariums are great. I'm just not sure how Petco sells this particular aquarium.

I'm puzzled as to how people looking at this tank can't figure out how big it is. It's described as 36" x 12" x 16", which makes it 6912 cubic inches, or very slightly less than 30 gallons in volume, as measured from the outside. So, we'll call it 29+ gallons!

Ok I believe this tank is a 30 gallon...thats what it said on the packaging paper when i got it. I wouldnt have bought it had I known, but anyways. This sucked that they didnt put the size, it just seemed a bit sketchy to me.

This tank has 3 cutouts on top, pretty small, I'm cutting them a bit wider, since I have turtles. Its a pretty great size tank overall, I just hate that the top is glued on. I would have prefered one with no top or one that comes off.

Zoo Med BettaTherm Submersible Betta Bowl Heater 7.5 Watts

I almost gave up on finding a heater that actually lived up to the standards in their descriptions. Two others that I tried never went past 72 degrees, although the descriptions said they went to 78 degrees. This little BettaTherm heater is the absolute best. It stays at a consistent 79-80 degrees. My Betta, Clifford is just thriving in his 2.5 gallon bowl. He is so much more active since I put in this heater. This heater takes up no room, is flat and covered by your rocks on the bottom of the bowl. There is a suction cup that holds the cord nicely against the side of the bowl. I would say..stop looking at other heaters, this is the best out there.

The heating power of this product is way underestimated.

It says it can raise a 1-3 gallon tank 5-10 degrees above room temp. I woke up the morning after i installed it and found my 2.5 gallon betta tank at 86 degrees with a room temp of 65. I'm glad i didn't buy this product in the summer or he'd probably be dead.

Without any kind of built in thermostat you have to constantly monitor your tanks temp and plug or unplug the heater.

It might be safe for a 5 gallon but if your tank is any smaller than that this heater is too powerful.

Just want to warn people that this heater is a fire hazard. Mine was only 4 months old when today I walked out to see smoke

coming out of my aquarium. Had I not been home I don't even want to imagine what would have happened. There was quite a bit

I've had this heater for a few days in my 1 gallon bowl, and it certainly does well at keeping the water warm. You can't set it to a specific temperature, though, so you really need to keep an eye on how hot your water gets. My room temperature is at about 70 degrees, and this heater usually keeps the water at around 80. Sometimes, though, especially after it's been on all day, it gets up to more like 85, and that's a bit too hot for my betta.

Basically, this heater is nice to have, but buy yourself a thermometer to go with it, and don't let it go unwatched for very long.

after 6months the bottom of the glass thermometer let go and the steel bb's came out,

filtering out the hundreds of tiny bb's was easily done with a small magnet,

a replacement thermometer I picked up a a local pet co and it looks the same except it has rubber coating the bottom of the thermometer, must have become a Known issue

so I would recomend the rubber bottom coated one

This gravel looks great in my betta's 5 gallon "natural" aquarium, though I bought the 5 lb size. It is much lighter and much more attractive (in my opinion) than the standard Petco River Rock Shallow Creek Aquarium Gravel, 20 lbs.. I find the River Rock one to be too dark and, frankly, ugly. The size is great and perfect for the roots of my Anubias. The light color accentuates the colors of my fish and decor.

These are cheap check valves. They seem to do the job so far but i wouldn't bet new carpet on it. Fair price for the product.

Seem to work fine and apparantly do not inerfere with air flow. We'll see if they work when the pump fails or a hose becomes detached. I am pleased.

I would definitely not recommend these check valves. I was looking for one to use in my CO2 injection system for my fishtank. The only options were $15 for a brass one or about $3 for two plastic ones, so I decided to try the cheap ones. After just the first night there was a fair amount of water that made it past the valve. They may work well for applications when there is gas (whether it be CO2 or just air from an air pump) going through the valve at all times, but if there will be times when there isn't, then I would look for something of better quality.

I gave it two stars because it IS cheap, so I sort of should have expected the outcome.

Zilla Fresh Air Non-Locking Screen Clips, 2-Pack

I bought these for a snake cage and they are extremely difficult to attach to the zilla screen. Stupid to think that Zilla would make clips that fit their screens. Once I finally got them on the screen with pliers and a friend's help, they didn't work. The flimsy metal allows the lid to be pushed up without difficulty from a young corn snake. He is able to push his lid up unless I put books on top, but that looks tacky. So I invested in these clips and I'm still using the books. The clips are a waste of time and money. I'm trying to return them and I guess I'll just continue to have books on my snake cage.

No way these things are going to keep my snake in. They are cheap and flimsy and come unsnapped with very little effort.

The clips fit our screen and keep the lid in place. When our snake gets bigger and stronger, it would probably be better to get another pair of clips to hold down the screen at all four corners. For now, these clips are doing the job.

Item as described. Looks great. Does attract algae like most plastic deco. The weights at the base help to keep the plants in place without worrying about filling some kind of plastic base with gravel or sand.

I recently decided to try out the Fluval Fresh Fish Aquariums (which I love), and also bought several plant and other decor to decorate it with.

This one was such a surprise for it was unlike any other plastic plant decor for fish tanks I've seen, felt and realized that fish tank plants vary in quality. It not only has a vivid color that stands out in the tank, but it's leaves/petals had an exquisite feel maleable, soft, pliable...it felt like heaven. If you want quality in your aqauriums, Jardin's products will not disappoint. I have a couple other reviews for plants I got from them, and another manufacturer that is close to Jardin's in quality, so look up any reviews I have posted regarding fish tank plant and misc. decor.

I purchased these plants to add color to my fresh water aquarium along with a little bit of height. My initial reaction when opening was that the color was great as described by other reviewers. However I was surprised at how flimsy they were I was expecting the stem of the plant to be more taught/stiff to keep the plant standing upright. They were essentially rolled up in a ball in the packaging. While a bit apprehensive I put them into the aquarium and they stood rather straight once in the water. I suppose I would describe it as the plants have some natural looking sway or hang to them. I ordered two packages of two (4 total) and placed them near a rock creating some great cover for my fish. They love to swim through the opening in the rock and hide out in the cave like cover I have created by spacing out the plants and allowing them to hang in toward the center.

I bought some of these and was amazed at how long they are. I had to cut some of it to make it look decent in my turtle tank. The colors are also amazing. It makes my tank look so natural and it adds beauty to it at the same time. What i liked the most was that it did not float everywhere. You just throw it in and it will sink to tje bottom. No rocks or gravel needed. But if you have turtles...you might need some rocks XD MY turtles seem to love this plant. My smallest turtle, Toity, loves to hang on to it and swim around it like every 3 seconds. Really love this product and will be buying more plants in the future :}

We've had a few different small animals and experimented with different cages and water bottles and have found this one to be the best by far. Small animals like gerbils and hamsters NEED to chew on stuff, and unfortunately it sometimes is their water bottle or other wire or plastic cages or toys. They need to be housed in an aquarium, first of all, so they cannot chew on the walls and latches, etc. We've owned plastic and wire cages in the past only to quickly replace them all with glass aquariums with a wire mesh top. That said, the only reasonable solution for the water bottle for the little fellas was this one because it's small, can be situated up high enough that they can't chew it, sticks on with double-sided tape, and is easily removed for filling. The other bottles we've had (many!) were all something that was bulky and hung down so far they would climb on them and chew on them. The glass one we had was fine until they chewed the whole cork off around the glass tube and we couldn't open it ever again. Gerbils in particular don't drink a lot, (and therefore don't pee a lot) so the bottle can be very tiny, which is why this one is perfect. The floating turtle inside makes it very easy to glance in and check the water level, too.

This sturdy little bottle is the best Gerbil or Mouse water bottle I've come across. The rounded bottom prevents

the cute little rodents from chewing through the cap like they do on conventional water bottles. The price is great and delivery was fast.

I bought this to replace 2 other water bottles that I purchased. The other bottles that I had my gerbil chewed up. The design of this bottle makes it hard for him to get his teeth into, and also the way it hangs also helps with that.I do not have a cage enclosure for the gerbil I have a 10Gal aquarium style tank and it works great!

This product is very good, with the exception of the attachment. To put it on the side of the cage you have to use this wire...it's kind of dinky. But the price is fairly good for the sturdiness of the bottle. the double-ball valve is fantastic and dripping is at a bare minimum. I have had bottles that my hamster chewed open. I'm pretty sure she'll have a hell of a time trying to chew this one ;)

I got this for my Russian Dwarf Hamster, I use an aquarium instead of a cage for her and while this is very small (half the size of 'normal' bottles) I was able to get it to work.

Using just the hook that comes with it, the bottle would have been about 4 or 5 inches from the bottom of the cage, way out of reach. Simply use some paperclips and you can get it to work just fine.

I had previously bought a Marineland LED hood for my 29 gallon aquarium, it looked pretty but had very flimsy hinges which broke after six months rendering the hood useless as it fell off every time I tried to raise it to do anything. Since I really needed a hood to keep my aquatic turtles in, I resigned to having to go back to a conventional fluorescent unit to replace the broken LED hood. I read the other reviews here for this unit and they are accurate. This hood is very well made, fit my tank perfectly. I was a little concerned with having to cut out the plastic in the back to fit my filter tubing, heater, etc. but after carefully measuring it was easy to do with almost no gap space, so not even a small crab would be able to get out now. I am very happy with this purchase. If Perfecto ever makes the same hood with an LED I will be their first customer.

The other reviews I thought sounded planted, but they are actually true. This is a very nice feeling hood. It just feels well made! I definitely recommend it. It fits perfectly on top of my 29 gallon tank. The only thing I guess I can say that wasn't the best was the difficulty I had in removing the tabs on the back to make space for the filter, air hoses, etc. I ended up having to use tin snips to cut the plastic tabs out of the way. But if anything, maybe that's just a testament to its solid construction!
