Fluval Ceramic Shaft Assembly, for Impellers w/Curved Fan Blades Only, 304, 404

Fluval Ceramic Shaft Assembly, for Impellers w/Curved Fan Blades Only, 304, 404I bought this with an impeller to try and repair my filter, unfortunately, this product arrived broken and I wasn't able to rig it to the original one to fix my filter. I honestly don't think it would have worked anyways because the hole where this goes was warped and it wouldn't fit properly.

Part came in quickly as described! Using this and another part I was able to take a "free" fluval 404 which was given to me and fix with these parts for less than 20 dollars. So thank you to this seller for taking the time to list these parts on Amazon!

Good quality product that worked properly the first time and is still working after several months. I will alway recommend a fluval product.

Ecoxotic PAR38 LED Aquarium Lamp, 12000K

Ecoxotic PAR38 LED Aquarium Lamp, 12000KI've been running it for about a month now and the light is great. I installed track lighting above my tank and use this bulb to put the light where I need it. Birdsnest coral (Seriatopora hystrix) that I have under it is showing good growth as is the Red Gonipora I have under it. Excellent way to get light where you need it. The spread on it isn't huge so if you want to use these exclusively for your tank lighting you'll need a few, I'd say one for 8-12 inches of tank length or so.

I have a 6 gallon saltwater nano tank so this may be overkill but I love it. I bought a clip on desk lamp from target for like $10 bucks and I modified it to hang off my ceiling like a pendant light. Colors and shimmer are beautiful!

Coralife Energy Savers ACL76004 Water Pump 100gpd Ro Unit

Coralife Energy Savers ACL76004 Water Pump 100gpd Ro UnitAfter initial assembly, there was a small leak on the back. I wanted to wall mount the unit, but the leak prevented that. I worked with an ESU (the manufacturer) support engineer to resolve the problem. I cracked a part following his instructions, which made the leak worse. The engineer sent me a replacement part that did not fit. At this point, I gave up on asking the manufacturer for help.

Finding a replacement part that fit was a major hassle as the instructions don't include any sort of part list. Finally I located the part and replaced it. No sooner was that leak fixed than the increased pressure (from no longer leaking) caused another part of the unit to leak. By now the filter is out of warranty and I have to set it up on top of the washing machine so water doesn't go everywhere. Every time I use it, I'm tempted to throw it in the trash.

Instruction are not very good. Drawings are fine but don't clearly show things such as which way filter units go into the canisters, or how to set it up for an open reservoir. The instructions need to explain more about how the unit actually works, such as, which valves do what, etc. This information was not available at any of the web sites I could find. This unit does not include enough tubing, or tell where to purchase longer lengths, or what type of tubing to use. I had to purchase more tubing from a local hardware store. It took a lot of research and improvision and I had to buy a special float valve to set up to store water for aquarium use. This unit is advertised as being used for aquarium setups and is sold by aquarium vendors. It should explain how to set up for aquarium use, but, does not. Unit seems to work fine, now, but, I am very disappointed that it took so much effort to set up, and I am an equipment maintenance technician who deals with all sorts of complex equipment and knows how to install highly technical stuff. I would not call this highly technical, but, the instructions give very little help in understanding this piece of equipment and how it works. This unit, for this reason, gets a low rating from me. I purchased this unit because it has a high daily output and uses a pressure pump, which reduces water wastage.

Aquarium Products Freshwater Biozyme

Aquarium Products Freshwater BiozymeThis stuff is great. Iv used it to cycle my 55, 20 and 36 gallon fish tanks. It takes a few days to cycle it.

I suggest you put this stuff onto your filter pad. I put it on the bottom of the foam and carbon inserts on the aquaclear filters. Putting it on the bottom will cause bacteria to grow a lot easier.

Also this is a water conditioner so when adding new water you can add this stuff to the tank and it will take care of chlorine and metals in the water.

This stuff will float around in your tank until your filter pushes it under, but if you soak it in a cup it will sink immediately, which I recommend doing.

Upon buying this I was under the impression that it was for saltwater and freshwater so I was disappointed when it came in and was only for freshwater (my mistake). As for actually making a difference in my tanks I would have no clue. My saltwater tank cycled in one week and one day so I would say that it must have done something right.

Buy Aquarium Products Freshwater Biozyme Now

I'm not sure if this product actually works or not as far as helping to establish your beneficial bacterial colony. The "bacteria" is mixed in with bran flakes and floats around on the water surface. Really messy in a small aquarium. Might be okay for a pond or outside water garden with fish.

Read Best Reviews of Aquarium Products Freshwater Biozyme Here

I've reviewed few things on here and it's usually good, but I feel as if I should warn you about this product...

I set up my freshwater, planted tank a few weeks ago. I decided to splurge on a Fluval 306 canister filer, which is INCREDIBLY quitet compared to my old HOB filter. Who doesn't want to speed-up the bio process? Not I!! So, I went to my LFS (no, I didn't buy it from a vendor or site), BUT...my happy (non-fish) tank water went from clear, to having some sort of white scum on the surface after adding this product. I had followed the directions and thought to myself that it'll clear up in a day or two.

Nope! It stayed and stayed and stayed. Hmm... a week into my trying to "pre" cycle my tank was meeting with misery, so I figured I'd throw a few Otos in (I always start my tanks with cleaners) to add some ammonia to the mix and get everything in order. The beneficial bacteria doesn't really take root till they have some sh*t (ammonia)to feed on. No change...

So, after doing extensive reading and research, I found out that this is something seen with a mass influx of proteins and lack of surface agitation. Long story short, I adjusted the outflow nozzle to stir up the surface water and...WOW!!! It sucks, but my tank looks like I just churned up the "mulm" from the gravel after months of not cleaning it. I'm psyched watching the intake suck up the crap that's been sitting up top get sucked into my tank's intake!

45 minutes later, the surface water in my tank of clean. One of my Otos looked at me and winked, so I know it's all good under da' hood.

If you need a product to help you jumpstart the biological filtration in your aquarium, this is the stuff. Unlike other, liquid based products, this never goes bad so it it guaranteed to do the job. I've been using it for 25 years with nothing but good results, there's nothing else out there that works as good as Biozyme, period.

Marina Decor

Marina Decor Mangrove Root, LargeI was so excited when I first received this. It looks great in my Fluval Ebi tank. The shrimp love to climb on it and the Beta even likes to rest on the top in the cubby-like hole.

The color is nice and natural and makes for a very attractive structure in a planted tanks. It acually looks even better when a bit of algae starts to grow on it. But that's where the trouble started.

I have a couple Nirate snails that love to eat algae. With in a couple days they ate was on the 'Mangrove Root' and the paint that was under the algae came up with it. So now there are sections that are white/gray instead of brown/red.

Luckly I don't think it hurt the snails (they are still alive) but I will be removing this from the tank and using a real piece of driftwood or a nano tree so I don't have to worry about the problem again. It's really too bad because it does look nice. :( oh well, live and learn.

**update** 12/13/2011

I'm changing my rating to 1 star.

So I took this thing out of my tank and really just about fell on the floor. IT SMELLED SO BAD! because it is hollow, fungus was able to grow inside of it. Seriously... it was so terrible that we had to promptly put it in a garbage bag and store it outside.

Total waste of money. :(

The decoration is well made and looks good in the tank. I looked at the pictures and did not pay a lot of attention to the measurements. It is hard to figure just how large the decorations are. The small size is 4.8 x 7.8 x 4, the medium is 12.7 x 6.8 x 5.1 and the large is 14.6 x 8.4 x 5.5. The medium measures smaller than the small size in one of the measurements and just a little over an inch bigger in another. I bought the small one and it does not have large enough holes for most of the fish to swim though. I do not know if I need a medium or a large. It would helpful if the seller would set them side by side so that you could see the differences better. I believe the large size is pictured on the web, which will allow more than just the smallest fish to swim though. I will look around town and see if I can find this decoration so that I will not end up buying all three sizes. I am giving this 3 stars not because of the quality of the decoration but because of the difficulty figuring out just what size to get for your tank.

Update: I took the chance and bought the large size. I'm positive that it is the one used in the picture but without the plants. It is a little bigger than I wanted but it will work. I did not buy the medium because it didn't measure that much bigger than the small size. If you have a tank that is 20 gal or more you might want to go with the large size if you want your larger fish to be able to use the openings. I have mostly tetras and barbs which are not "big" fish but they don't like to swim through tight areas.

The measurements would be less confusing if they read like the following

Small 4.8 x 7.8 x 4

Medium 6.8 x 12.7 x 5.1

Large 8.4 x 14.6 x 5.5

The first number is the height of the rock on the tallest side

The second number is the length of the decoration

The third number is the height of the rock on the smallest side

The smallest rock and the arch are just about the same size in height.

After a week in the tank, the fish love it. I never had a problem

with the fish decoration, it was the information provided about the product.

If you have a fish with sensitive fins like a betta, you can forget this. The overall texture is extremely rough and sharp.. rough and sharp enough to actaully cut my skin none the less snag some nylons. Also it has 3 places on the ornament where it's obviously they've stuck 2 pieces together.. very crudely with gaps and no texture mesh up. The bottom is hollow.. not sure about that. Too bad. Looks good online. Poorly made and ROUGH.

I'm glad to find this on Amazon so I can share how much my fish enjoy this ornament. They either roost on the very top, or sleep in one of the holes. One of them spends about 10 minutes in each hole before swimming up to perch on his Betta Hammock for a while. I will always use this ornament in my tanks. It doesn't look especially nice in this photo but it's pretty neat. More importantly... they love it!

I have a crayfish that has found his way inside of this thing (it's hollow) and made it a home, he manages to move from branch to branch and poke his head out of holes he's made for himself. Also my pleco uses the bottom branches as his home during the day. It's very cool looking and perfect for fish to play in.

Aqueon Evolve 2 LED Aquarium Kit, 2 gallons

Aqueon Evolve 2 LED Aquarium Kit, 2 gallonsI own the 2 gallon model of this aquarium which comes (as of this review) in 2, 4 and 8 gallon models. I can only speak towards the 2 gallon version, though it seems reasonable to expect that all three equally share the same pros and cons.

Overall this is a nice tank. Complete with power filter, LED lighting with daylight and moonlight modes and lids (one for the back filter section and one for the overall front aquarium section).

THE LED LIGHT

Is pretty nice. The daylight mode is very bright, impressively so. It shows every ripple of water producing that often sought after dancing affect. Even the moonlight mode is bright enough to produce this affect, yet not so bright as to be mistaken for anything but moonlighting.

THE FILTER

I personally do not like cartridge filtration that I must replace often. Instead I put a small bag of "bio-max" (the AquaClear 20 version) in the filter section with two sponges (also AquaClear 20 version) for the filtration. It does come with a nano sized version of the standard Aqueon filter cartridge, which works really well, I just prefer the former setup. The filter area also has plenty of room for a nano aquarium heater to be put out of sight! Big plus, IMHO, as heaters tend to be an eye-sore, especially in such a small tank as this one (2 gallons).

The pump on mine was not attached to the output nozzle new from the box. The easiest way to get the pump up and out to attach everything correctly will be by pulling on the power cord. Please note that the bottom of the pump has suction cups, and when you put it back down in, it will stick. Sometimes when pulling it back out the suction cups will come off. A very small fish net will easily fish them out, and they are easy to snap back on the pump itself. The pump has a good bit of power for such a small tank as this (2 gallons), but I discovered that the pump is adjustable! There is a circular slider on the side of the pump which will cut the flow down greatly, perfect for a Betta. I've got mine set to the most minimum output.

THE AQUARIUM

Is nicely done, elegant and light-weight. The aquarium is acrylic so one must use all the same cautions and maintenance as any other acrylic aquarium.

THE LIDS

Now this is where I wonder what they were thinking. The lids just don't seem to fit right. They DO fit, and work, but they just aren't right. They are a little too wide and don't seem to be deep enough. I'll try and upload pictures. Nevertheless, they are not cheap feeling. I don't think I'm being picky here, they just need minor adjustments to be perfect. This is not a deal breaker though, and I think most people won't even use the main front lid, but the back only.

I hope that this review is helpful, and I would highly recommend this tank.

===========================

UPDATE

After having this tank for a while now, I did decide, since my original review above, to perform a modification to the flow as I now believe the flow is a little strong for a betta. I simply drilled holes in the small tube that runs from the pump to the outlet, thereby decreasing the water flow a good bit more, and my betta seem happier. He did alright before, but with the reduced flow he is out and about more. I put a good bit of holes in the tube to really reduce the flow for the better. If your betta seems bothered by the flow, then drill the holes! I didn't even use a drill, just a drill bit in a screwdriver by hand, easy. Be sure to wash the tube to remove small particles before putting it back in the tank.

I bought this tank a little over a month ago from the Petco I actually work at. A co-worker of mine told me she was going to setup a SW pico-tank and I told her she was crazy. Well, she quickly convinced me to do the same. Let me tell you, I have no regrets.

I examined all the different size tanks before my purchase and found that all three sizes had the same size lighting arrangements. Wanting to keep corals, I knew I wanted the most wattage per gallon. The tank's actual volume appears to be only 1.7 gallons and, as mentioned in other reviews, the flow is quite strong even at the pump's lowest setting. Because it's so small, working in it can be difficult. Arranging my live rock was a chore ensuring not to scratch the acrylic. I feel the tank design could easily be achieved with glass as well. Filtration is adequate and flexible. I placed some biological media in the bottom of the reservoir in addition to the cartridge designed for the tank. Back to the LED lighting, it has kept my Duncan, Zoanth, and Ricordea in great shape and the blue moonlights really bring out their fluorescence. The lid could fit a little better but it works; though, water evaporates from this thing like crazy. They sell a heater marketed for this aquarium separately but any small, low wattage heater will suffice.

In summary, this is a great package. Somewhat on the level of a very small bio-cube, it has everything needed to sustain a quaint little ecosystem.

Buy Aqueon Evolve 2 LED Aquarium Kit, 2 gallons Now

I bought the aqueon evolve 2 because the guy at the pet store recommended it and I liked that it had a filter and a cool design. The problem was, I was going to put a twin tail halfmoon betta in there and the filter was waaaay too strong, even after I lowered the power. It pulled the beta straight to the intake and I was worried it was going to shred his poor fins, not to mention the strength of the current totally freaked him out (they like their water fairly still). I later discovered this is a problem most people have had to deal with with this model. My solution was to put a piece of filter insert foam between the intake and the charcoal filter and then disengage the tubing and the spout from the pump. This lowered the pressure of the current by diffusing the water and is keeping my betta from shredded. I was disappointed that a $60 tank (regular price) needed to be modified to keep my fish happy, but fortunately all it took was only about $3.00 in modifications and a little ingenuity. Hope this helps anyone else in this situation.

Read Best Reviews of Aqueon Evolve 2 LED Aquarium Kit, 2 gallons Here

For perspective: I have significant experience with both fresh and salt water aquariums, worked in a pet store specializing in fish for 2 years, and primarily focus on pico and nano tanks. I had been out of fish keeping for several years because of travel, and decided to get back in with a small betta tank, and bought the Aqueon 2 gallon for my office.

I turned the tank into a planted tank for my betta with dwarf hair grass, java moss, dwarf baby tears, etc. The supplied light isn't sufficient for this, but will grow some low light plants. There are plenty of quality replacement lights for this size for sale on ebay or other electronic sellers.

The tank's dimensions are fair for what it is, and it is a pretty design, provided the acrylic does not get scratched. The main problem, however, is the assembly of the rear/filter portion of the structure.

Behind the black wall in back of the tank is the filter section. Prior to purchasing the tank, I expected this to be a typical overflow setup, with two chambers, one for intake, one for the return and pump. However, the Aqueon has a third, and poorly thought out, area. Essentially the typical two chamber system is truncated on the intake side. It is only deep enough to fit the given filter pads, and then flows directly to the return side where the pump is located. Below that area in the tank is a large empty space containing...nothing. There is a small fill hole between this section and the rest of the tank, which I primarily found to be a good way to get small detrius bypassing the filter and being sucked into the pump. This large area, which takes up almost half of the rear of the tank, is empty and has very little water flow. As a result, it is primarily dead water and the perfect location for anerobic conditions that are detrimental to a tank. For two months I struggled with this tank to keep ammonia levels low. They were consistently in the 2.0 PPM area, despite me doing regular water changes, having one fish and two snails in the tank, and sufficient plants that no filtration should really have been necessary at all. The tiny bioload in conjunction with everything else leads me to believe that this area of dead space was at least partially to blame for the problems I had. I eventually gave up on the tank and changed to this tank: Fluval Spec V Aquarium Kit. The change has been dramatic. I literally just moved everything from the Aqueon to the Fluval: bilogical media, wood, plants, fish, etc. I added some shrimp and five dwarf cory cats. Since swapping tanks, I have had no ammonia spikes, and everything in the tank is clearly happier. While I cannot say for certain that the design of the tank was the cause of my problems, I find it likely at this point. I find it ridiculous that a fair sized portion of the tank is used neither for filtration or for giving the tank inhabitants extra real estate. Fluval's design is much simpler and better, in my opinion.

I have a crown tail betta that I attempted to put in this tank, but even with the pump on the lowest setting, it was much too powerful for his large fin structure. I came up with various methods to reduce the flow, none of them satisfactory, but since I have learned of the "two little fish" ball valve. Amazon sells this. If you have a betta of any kind with this tank, I would recommend purchasing that valve. It's something I wish these small tank manufacturers would include anyway, given the prediliction to use these tanks primarily for bettas, but as it is, at least there is a solution somewhere. I don't think this tank is really big enough for much beyond bettas, oto cats, and a few other fish that stay small and don't move much. My betta was certainly active enough in it to show his personality, and was constantly searching it. Providing lots of terrain to explore (logs, etc) is key.

So all of that said, what do I think this tank is best for? I think it would be a great little shrimp tank, if kept basic, or a pico reef. Possibly in either situation the pull from the pump (on its highest setting) would disturb the water enough in the wasted area to make that a non-issue. Of course, you'll need better lighting for a pico reef, but information on such tanks is available widely online and that kind of tank is best left to having some more experience with salt water, if you haven't done so.

Want Aqueon Evolve 2 LED Aquarium Kit, 2 gallons Discount?

Just got off the phone with Aqueon customer service. They were very helpful. I was told that the first generation of the Evolve 2 tanks were packaged with a pump that indeed is too large for that size tank. (this implies that Aqueon has corrected the mistake for the newer generation of Evolve 2 tanks so hopefully consumers won't be having this problem much longer). In any event, as soon as I mentioned that my fish were getting sucked up into the filter intake, she confirmed that indeed the pump is too strong and immediately offered to send me a replacement pump which will be better suited for the 2 gallon tank.

For anyone who has this tank and is having problems with the pump being too strong, call customer service and give them an opportunity to make it right. Their number is 1-800-255-4527. I did not have to furnish receipts, or read UPC numbers off a box (thank goodness b/c I've already thrown it away) .... just told them I have an Evolve 2 tank and that's all they needed to know. Hopefully when my new pump arrives in a few days my last remaining guppy will be much happier.

Penn Plax Tortoise Palace with Wire Top, Black Frame and Glass Terrarium

Penn Plax Tortoise Palace with Wire Top, Black Frame and Glass TerrariumIt's a beautiful enclosure. Lots of pieces, but easy to put together. I did have a slight issue with the 4 screws that hold on the front panel but in the end it wasn't a big deal. I used black silicone to seal all of the inside edges, exposed screw holes, & frame around viewing window it turned out looking great. I found the 'Lack' coffee table at Ikea for $39 to use as a stand ...looks like it was made to go with the enclosure. My Russian Tortoise uses every part of his tortoise palace so I'd have to say that he loves it too!

I adopted a tortoise recently and did a little research on their housing requirements. This seemed perfect for a Russian. I got a great deal through Amazon and absolutely LOVE it. Set up was fine. Same as IKEA furniture and my fish tank stand. one of the arms that holds it up is a little iffy but it does the job. Overall I would recommend this to anyone with a small tortoise. It looks great in my house also!

CREE LED 72 watt DIMMABLE Reef Aquarium light Model XPG R5/XPE = 250MH

CREE LED 72 watt DIMMABLE Reef Aquarium light Model XPG R5/XPE = 250MHThis is a well made light that has been working in my aquarium for 2 months. It is strong enough that I can see bubbles of O2 float up from my desired algae (from photosynthesis) I have not gotten any photosynthetic corals yet but I expect good results. Also the light comes well packaged and quickly.

Tank description

10 gal saltwater

12lbs live rock

3-4 inch sand bed with 10lbs of live sand mixed with 20lbs of play sand

leather coral

just added cleanup crew (sails, emerald/hermit crabs, peppermint shrimp)

about to add midas blenny and photosynthetic corals

Update: added frogspawn, torch and plate corals all doing very well, I also have a maxima clam who is also doing very well. this is a very good light. do not be afraid to put a strong light on your tank due to algae growth algae can only grow to the point of absorbing all the nitrates if you maintain the tank well and have a strong cleaning crew algae will not be a problem

I purchased this for a 24 gallon jbj nano cube. I didnt want something that would break the bank but I also wanted a fixture that was dimmable and this one fit the bill.

Well my first fixture had 2 led's that were off in color so after contacting the seller they sent me a return label and I was able to return it and a little while longer I received my replacement.

All the led's were good to go in the replacement but the case was a little bit different than my first fixture. The first fixture had nice rounded edges and looked like it was pretty well put together.

The replacement didnt look like it was put together as nicely but hey at least it was going to get the job done. The whole process of returning the old fixture and getting the new one took about 2 months so that stunk. Overall I'm happy with the led fixture. I've owned the tao tronics or however you say it and those were nice too. If I had the choice of going with this fixture again or saving up and getting something better, I would probably save up and go with something better. I do feel like you get what you pay for in this hobby. Although you may not need to spend $600 on led's that will get the job done, I would have gone with something a little higher end such as AI SOL's or something comparable. Anywho I hope you find this somewhat helpful.

Thanks!

Nature's Miracle Advanced Ultra Absorbent Pads for Pets

Advanced Ultra Absorbent Pads - 30 CountThese are the most absorbent pads I have used.

I have tried WEE WEE Pads, Little Stinker, Standard Nature's Miracle pads.

Out of all of them, this particular one has the highest absorb-ability and best odor control.

However, it is also the most expensive pad out of all that I have tried.

I don't use these pads as often, so in terms of pricing it is just difference in cents per day on average for me.

For anyone interested or thinking about this. if price does not matter as much to you, and quality is something that you value the most, this is what you want to get.

We do rescue and we begin their potty training with potty pads. All the other brands get filled too quickly. These are the best absorbers around. I get the larger ones, Advanced Utlra. The dogs use them and we replace them and move them closer to the door and bingo, within a week or less a dog is trainned to the outside. We're happy, the dogs happy and this is the first step to their adoption. No one wants a dog that is not house broken.

It is better to try these then to turn a dog into rescue because you can't or won't house break them.

Thanks for such a Great product.

We have one cat that, for whatever reason, refuses to urinate in the litter box. (The cats have their own room where their litter boxes are found.) The pad absorbs the smell and prevents the urine from soaking through to the floor. I love them! They're a bit pricey, but we figured out that because we don't use as many, in the end, if we buy in bulk, we're paying only a little more than we would for the larger quantity of regular pads we'd have to buy.

We have tried a lot the other brands and this is the only one that does not leak and absorbs quickly so when the pup runs over the pad she does not get puppy urine on her.

I've tried many doggie pads because I do dog rescue, and there are always dogs that aren't housebroken. These pads are more expensive than others, but cheaper on Amazon than at the store. They are so worth it for absorbency.

Marineland PC0350PSB Magnum 350 Pro- Up to 100-Gallon, 350GPH

Marineland PC0350PSB Magnum 350 Pro- Up to 100-Gallon, 350GPHI've had this filter for almost 20 years, but lost it in the last house move, so I'm buying another one. I like being able to see through the smoke plastic side to see if crud is building up. It uses magnets to spin the propeller, so there is no seal to leak when it is taken off the base. i make my own filter media by putting activated charcoal in a nylon stocking. Makes it cheap to run and lasts for months. Powerful and reliable.

I keep an adult red-eared slider semi-aquatic turtle who is very very very messy... like most turtle owners I have struggled to keep the water clean over the years ( frequent water changesreplacing filter cartridges having been a must.) My previous filter was destroyed by the turtle and I started looking online for a replacement. I wanted a high performance filter. I bought this filter about a month ago and have been amazed since then. I keep the animal in a pre-formed pond liner in my kitchen with around 60 gallons of water. I have not so far have had to change the water ( just add some) and it is clear and free of odors. The carbon in the filter really does wonder at purifying and the blue sleeve catches the debris very well. I have replaced the sleeve twice and the carbon once in a month time. The bio wheels are I think a must for turtles as they oxygenate the water and create more movement. I had to modified the set-up a bit in order to instal it on the pond liner instead of an aquarium, which took a little time, but so far have had zero problems. I highly recommend this product to anybody who takes care of turtles. It is powerful, quiet and very well made.

We are located in Colombia, south america, where this filter is hard to find. The filter is little to medium size, but in 48 hours makes your water so clear that the fish look like flying on air...

We use it to clean our tanks, it does a great cleaning job, this filter is ready to use, it comes with activated carbon, hoses, etc... all you need is a little hose cutting (to match tank hight), and plug the power cord...

The filter has been working for over a month now... absolutly NO problem! Weve changed the normal cartridge to the "Polishing" one... just amazing!... We breed discus and sometimes betta fish, having 7 discus in a 250 lt tank and the water quality raise so much that one new pair started spawning after polishing the water. the other tanks we own where passed thru the filter with excelllent results!, clear "new looking" water pronto.

Clean water = Healthy and happy fish

The only messy thing ive noticed is in the moment you want to open the filter for mainteinence and you where using the activated carbon recipient... well that recipient ant the filter`s top (where you connect the hoses) unite strongly... so when you open the filter, you have to be carefull because with the filter's top comes the recipient's top and you can spill some carbon...

tough its easy to clean and we find it very practical.

"Ok, here is the l-o-n-g and short of it...bare with me and all your worries will be allayed ~ this canister filter is a miracle IF you take the time to inventory your parts, get to know the equipment included and TAKE YOUR TIME in the initial set up!!!

Background ~ we have a 75 gallon goldfish only tank (yup, the dirty little critters). But this tank is our family's pride and joy. We have two $30 goldfish in here a tri-color Ranchu and a Metallic Veil Tail Fancy along w/ a Chocolate Moor, a Black/White Telescope, an all White Fancy and an all Gold Fan Tail.

Step 1 inventory ALL your equipment. This took me almost 2 hours but I wanted to make sure everything was in the box that was supposed to be. Cross referenced with what the part did in/on the filter. Found one small broken piece but realized it would not alter set up.

Step 2 FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS WORD FOR WORD and DIAGRAM FOR DIAGRAM. Do not rush through this! I cannot stress this enough. It took my daughter and I about 3 hours to fully set this bad boy up. Due to some of the other reviews, we really made sure to follow along so as to not make errors.

Step 3 Perform regular maintenance. We do a 10% water change weekly and a 40% water change plus filter clean monthly (i.e. foam slip clean/replacement, carbon/ammonia media replacement, tube clean).

Side note ~ please, please, please follow the starting of the pump word for word. You have to get all the air out of the canister or it WILL BE AUDIBLE. After you have gotten most of the air out, there will, undoubtedly, be a little bit of air left. Just let it run and by the next day, it will be gone. This has been our experience every time we have had to turn it off and open it up. This is no biggie! Remember, this IS a filter with water running through it...it is NOT going to be totally silent! It sounds like a filter. I find the sound of running water soothing, but that is just me. I have this in my living room where we "live" and the sound does not affect my working from home in that room, us watching TV or sitting at the dining room table eating dinner (it is literally within 5 feet of the table). It does have a mind of its own and some days are quieter than others (cannot quite explain this) but it never is so loud as to be distracting and some days we have to check if it is even running.

Our tank has never been cleaner. Even my husband now enjoys watching the fish. The tank literally looks like there is no water in it except for the bubblers and a power head providing aeration for our fishy friends.

Another side note ~ I personally think the "water polishing cartridge" is a waste. We did try to change out the carbon/ammonia media and put it in but, honestly, did not make a difference. This DOES run louder as the filter does not fill the canister up fully so more room for water to rush around it. If you truly want a polisher, then I suggest the smaller Marineland HOT Magnum Hang On the Tank Canister as a supplement. But I don't see the point.

My amateur advice is always have a filter that is twice the recommended gallons required and your tank will be cleaner, regular maintenance will be lessened, your fish will be happier, and the joy of owning an aquarium will be increased!

I am going to buy a second one for my 46 gallon Euro Tank.

I HIGHLY recommend this filter and my fish do too! Just make sure you do your part and maintain it!!! >(*o*)< (fish face)"

I've had this filter installed on a 55-gallon aquarium for over 13 years, without a day of difficulty. It was a bit of effort to set up, but not what I would consider unreasonable. I took the time to install the quick-connects entirely worth it come cleaning day. It takes about 10 minutes to clean this filter, and I do it maybe 6 times per year. I don't have any trouble keeping the lid on the media container as long as the sponge sleeve is replaced, and it is put in the canister before filling with water. I have replaced the seals and gaskets once at minimal cost. The sponge sleeve is inexpensive to replace and lasts years if handled with care. I also have 2 bio-wheels on a separate pump and course sponge prefilters on all intakes. My aquarium is heavily planted (need to thin regularly) with a medium to low population of medium to large fish. I also have a 10+year-old HOT Magnum on a smaller tank, and it too performs extremely well. I have never used another filter for this aquarium, because I have never needed to.

Super Orthopedic Lounge Pet Bed

Snoozer Medium Super Orthopedic Senior Dog Bed, Black with Black SherpaI used to balk at any dog bed that cost this much money, but I have purchased MANY dog beds and my dog's favorite dog bed was a 6" tall memory foam bed. Unfortunately that is a very large bed and the dimensions of it are too large to fit in my bedroom. I bought this bed because it is the tallest memory foam bed that would fit in the space I have in my bedroom. I need space to walk too afterall. My dog loves this bed too, I'm sure that it is more comfortable for him than the thinner (3") memory foam beds or the ones that are stuffed with loose fill. My only gripe about it is the cover they use for it. According to the company it is completely waterproof, but that also makes it almost as noisy as a plastic tarp. You WILL hear it when your dog moves around on this bed. That being said, I would still highly recommend it.

The snoozer orthopedic senior dog bed appears to be well made with quality materials. My dogs seem to really like it.

Update: 6-4-13 I would give this bed 6 stars if possible! When I unzipped the cover to wash it I found that the sherpa is lined with the same fabric that the rest of the bed is covered with, and the zipper is a heavy duty zipper. :)

Buy Super Orthopedic Lounge Pet Bed Now

It barely fits my medium dog (staffordshire bull terrier) he fits right to the ends and cannot lay down sideways on it. the only parts that fit sidways is head to middle belly. but he likes it and it is very sturdy and should last a long time. the cover does zip off and can be washed, but only unzips half way it will be a bit of a bear to get it off and back on after washing. The top is a thick plush foux sheeps wool. the fabrick is a very thick and coarse cotton or such type fabric. the zipper is Very heavy duty. little scratchy but doesn't seem to bother the dog.

Dingo Home for Dwarf Hamsters and Mice

Dingo Home for Dwarf Hamsters and MiceI have this cage and it is attached to a Crittertrail one, 2 crittertrail mini one's, a habbittrail outpost, and a crittertrail outhouse. It makes for a great setup, and basically a mansion for my 4 dwarf hamsters. I am undecided if I love this cage or hate it... you can descide for yourself, but here is some pros and cons to help along:

Pros:

LOVE the 2 layers, really gives them that burrowing feeling that is so comforting to them.

Easy access to the lower level.

Pretty solid.

Cons:

Connections are weak and hard to adapt to crittertrail tubes, even thought they are listed as compatable.

You must buy door kits if you plan to add any tubes or other cages, they are somewhat hard to find.

The wheel is COMPLETELY obnoxious although safer than some of the ones I have seen it was removed after 1 day of my dwarf hamsters finding it. I tried to put a Silent Spinner (the most safe and silent and best quality wheel I have ever had the pleasure of owning) but there wasn't enough room, so I put 2 of them elsewhere in my system.

Not much ventalation, although with my setup this isn't as much of a problem because of the other cages connected. This is an issue as small animals can DIE from the ammonia of there own urine if not well ventalated.

The top half of the cage is hard to access.

All in all, if you are adding this to an existing system with good vent. and you don't mind buying door kits, finding specal tubes, and only handleing your pet when they feel like comming out, it's a good cage, but PLEASE at least add a small cage with good vent. and put a silent spinner wheel in! :)

I wish I had read the online reviews here before purchasing this at PetSmart.

Our pet mice are now dead, thanks to this gas chamber.

The Down Under Dingo Home should not be sold as a stand-alone cage. Don't buy it unless you are connecting it with open access to another well-ventilated cage.

I completely disagree with other reviewers who though this cage wasn't top quality. I connected this cage with two others and this is by far the favorite for my hamsters. My Campbell's hamsters absolutely love this cage and in fact my girl had babies in there twice in succession because she felt so safe in there. So now I have 6 hamsters (girls because I put the boys in another set of cages) and this is the best cage because it is sooooo easy to clean, you just unsnap one orange hing on either side and lift up the plastic to clean, and my hamsters really love it here and I can just remove the purple lid on the side to have them come out so I can pet them. The wheel is really nice and it's inside the cage so the hamsters don't throw stuff all over my floor and it's true that it gets loud after you have it for a while but if you put a tiny bit of corn oil on the part that connects it to the cage it will stay quiet. My hamsters really like going into the orange "underground" compartment and hang out in this cage the most.

This is a great cage for one or two MICE of DWARF hamsters-but not for larger hamsters or garbles! I have had my cage for a few months now and it has been working really well for my single male mouse.

Pros: Easy to clean, easy to take apart and put back together, the "underground" area for the mouse to sleep and burrow in is great and he really enjoys it, you can add other cages or accessories to this cage.

Cons: Poop gets stuck between the 2 parts of the wheel and it must be taken completely apart to clean, the water bottle leaks, and unless your pet is people friendly, it can be difficult to get them out of the cage by means of the lid.

I got a Robo Hamster and this cage last Friday.

Initially, we were happy about this cage.

But this water bottle didn't work! So, my hamster got dehydrated and died on Monday....

This company specializes hamsters and small animals-they should know better!

I don't know how many hamsters has / will be suffered this kind of cage... but from my experience, use glass aquarium and high quality water bottle! Don't buy this cage! It'll kill your hamster!

Coralife 10000K T-5 High Output Fluorescent Lamp

Coralife 80404 10000K T-5 High Output Fluorescent Lamp, 31-WattWe recently orded 2 sets of bulbs. One set from another company was not packaged well and came to us completely broken. However, this MarineandReef's packaging was superb! It was packaged with brown paper to keep them from rattling around and the bulbs were also wrapped in bubble wrap. I have already ordered two more bulbs from them (to replace the other broken ones).

This is a great bulb for the T-5 light fixture. The light is bright and the corals look buestiful under them.

Buy Coralife 10000K T-5 High Output Fluorescent Lamp Now

TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE.....The item is not even close to 36". It's only 33" and not to mention, way to small to even fit into the strip light itself. Now I have to deal with returning this and waiting for a refund. I thought maybe I'd save some money but it turns out, I'm wasting not only money but also my time with this. First ever bad experience with purchasing online from any site.

Note to the seller: Do us all a favor and edit your original post to say it's only 33" and that it will NOT fit into a 36" strip light.

Fluval Flora Stainless Steel Planting Tongs - 10.63-inches

Fluval Flora Stainless Steel Planting Tongs - 10.63-inchesI have a 5-gallon planted tank with Crystal Red Shrimp and tons of tiny live plants. With the piece of wood that I have in the tank and the fear of smashing small critters, I bought these tweezers, Fluval Plant Scissors, and long tweezers without the bend in the tip. These are great for planting individual pieces of bunch plants and GREAT for catching and squishing snails. Who needs chemical snail control when you have the therapy and satisfaction of squishing them yourself? The tweezers made themselves triply valuable when I started a 65-gallon 36x18 planted tank. Even on a stool I am up to my armpit in water to reach the bottom. These tweezers make it possible to replant the bottom of the tank and pick up debris on the bottom, rearrange stones and wood, and minutely adjust anything that needs adjusting. I have used them to deliberately place tiny bits of glossostigma, dwarf baby tears, flame moss, christmas tree moss, and riccia where I need it and to hold them in place while using fishing line to attach it to wood, rocks, or in the gravel.

I recommend these for anyone who has a planted tank. The angled tips make even the hardest-to-reach corners easily accessible, and keep clumsy fingers away from delicate roots and critters.

Buy these on Amazon! Prime customers can get them in 2 days for less than half the cost of a fish store.

This must be some really bad stainless steel. These tongs rusted in no time. I only use them for my freshwater aquarium. I got them on sale, otherwise I'd be very disappointed.

Buy Fluval Flora Stainless Steel Planting Tongs - 10.63-inches Now

I had a pair of no-brand stainless steel tongs I bought from eBay for 10 dollars a while back. It proved to be very useful and comfortable to use, I decided to look on Amazon to take advantage of my Prime membership. At the time I bought this, it was 10 dollars. I see that it is cheaper now, so it's probably worth the money at the time of this writing (11/14/11), but I would not have purchased this if I had known the followings:

A bit too much resistance on the tongs when trying to grab squeeze the tongs.

Round but non-smooth tips screeches against fish tank glass.

My eBay one has none of these flaws, but for 6 bucks, it's not bad a bad buy with Prime.

If you're looking for surgical precision, look somewhere else. When you pince the tip together you can see a gap near the tip of the prongs, this causes a bit weaker grip. The strongest grip right at the angle, its not the greatest grip but overall gets the job done... Kinda. I def prefer my hands for some uses

These are sturdy tongs, but just that, tongs. Good for planting larger plants. Difficult with smaller fine plants because there is no feeling in them.

Jardin Plastic Frame Net Fry Hatchery Breeder for Aquarium, White

Jardin Plastic Frame Net Fry Hatchery Breeder for Aquarium, WhiteIt was pretty easy to assemble, the netting goes right over everything except the sucker parts. the sucker parts though you have to really push to get them on, then when you get them on you have to press them onto the tank really well or else the hatchery will sink and your frog might get in and eat all your baby fish... then when its time to get out the remaining survivors of the frog attack its really difficult because the suckers wont detatch. Overall though, its a pretty good product and if you lower your water level a little then you'll be fine.
