Super Naturals Peace River Gravel (40 lbs)

I used to use Sand Blast Sand for my planted tanks when I lived in Texas. However, after days of disappointment trying to find blast sand in Ohio I broke down and ordered the Super Naturals Peace River Gravel off Amazon Marketplace. With the exception of a bit of confusion in shipping (at first I only got one bag instead of two) and the surprise that this is NOT the sand with the water conditioner/live bacteria in it, I am very pleased with this product. The tips on the front of the bag about rinsing the gravel were great and as much as I hate clarifier, the included goo did its job well.

I will say that if you can, buy the Peace River Gravel with the water conditioner and bacteria already in it. It's worth the extra couple of bucks to be able to put it straight in the tank without rinsing.

The particle size is perfect for planted tanks. South American cichlids and other larger fish will also like this because they can move it around with their mouths or bury themselves in it. This will not clog the gills of these fish and does not settle too tightly for plant roots. In the past I would use blasting sand with Fluourite or another plant substrate mixed in. Cleaning is easy and it is not likely that it will be sucked up during gravel vacuuming.

If you have to buy gravel off the internet, this is the stuff!

I bought these by mistake, so I can't be a good judge. Should have bought the Rite size "E" for my Emperor 400. These are for the Marineland 350. The surface area compared to the Emperor 400 is smaller, maybe 1/2 the size. These are made by marineland, and I have never been disappointed with a marineland product, except they are a little pricey. i would think that due to the smaller size, compared to the 400 filter that you would need to change them out more often. i would recommend getting the Emperor 400 filter to begin with.

Fish Bubbles - Wall Hanging Fish Tank - 3.6L

Waste off money, i brought 5 of them should have brought one and see how it goes.

But with water fish rocks etc... the hooks thingy were it hangs cracks and you guess it water fish rocks all over the place and crying screaming kids, very upset about there fish..

I love this fishbowl and I get more compliments on it than any other decoration in my house. We've had our Beta fish in for over 6 months now and it seems pretty happy in it's home too. I love decorating it for holidays by putting fancy paper behind it and changing the rock color. I also put a lighted christmas wreath around it during the Chrismas and it was so beautiful! It also nice that young little hands can't reach into it and other pets don't even notice it all. A must have if you like fish!!

I love these bubbles...but not for housing fish. Instead, I purchased a couple of these to hold fruit in my kitchen. I live in a small condo, and live with someone who is an avid juicer and smoothie creator. I mounted these on the wall and they hold a surprising amount of fruit! Bought 2 pcs and hung them a feet apart. Guests liked it. Betta fish each tank/bubble but shld also work with other fish. With colored pebbles (maybe < 2 cups each tank), a live aquatic plant, and a bulb of water lily growing it looks nice! I used a hook (e.g Hercules hook ) and had no prob holding it with a water < gallon. I only feed my fish 2-3x/wk with few food flakes so i just change the water every ten days. So don't over feed your fish as this will make the water dirty thus frequent cleaning is required.

The tank itself is small, I just don't think $17 is worth the plastic half bowl you get. I mean the idea is definitely cool, which is probably all that your paying for. The tank itself is cheap.

Tropic Marin ATM50002 Precision Thermometer

This Tropic Marin themometer reads 2 degrees (Farenheit) low when compared to four other thermometers (two of the others are digital).

I bought this thermometer new last week. It is in good condition (not broken, cracked, dropped, abused, etc.). The red alcohol column is intact (no bubbles). Two other aquarium thermometers (one digital) located in my aquarium read near 77 degrees F, while the new Tropic Marin thermometer reads near 75 degrees. In another comparison, two (human) body temperature thermometers (one digital), placed in my mouth, both registered 98.4 degrees while the Tropic Marin reads about 96.5 degrees.

After six consecutive days of trying to obtain an accurate temperature reading with this "precision instrument" I junked it for a medium to high end digital. $25.00 lesson learned.

The thermometer arrived with a gap in the liquid indicator as often happens. Unfortunately, the glass column has a bend in it between the bulb and the main body of the thermometer. This makes reuniting the liquid impossible as the gap becomes hung up there.

The suggested ice water method does not work as it is not cold enough to draw all the liquid dye into the bulb. If you shake the thermometer as advised, the beads in the bulb will break the glass. I have repaired thermometer problems many times when I worked in a laboratory, but this was a lost cause. The thermometer also lacks an expansion bulb at the top, so heating to eliminate the gap will burst the glass.

I now suspect the temperature inaccuracies described in the other reviews were due to gaps in the column that were not noticed.

Midwest Tropical 670 Square Aquarium End Table

This table is something that you want to think very long and hard about before buying. I bought this table about a year ago and still enjoy it very much. Some of the positives are that no one i know has ever heard of a fish tank table before, therefore adds class to our home well as a conversation starter. Our was son 6 months old when we bought this table still loves to take naps on the floor by it. The sound of the water movement is pacifying well as he loves to watch the fish and the bubblers in motion. Now some of the negatives. The table being all glass and acrylic glass means everything is very visible. To use a filter and/ or a bubbler in this tank the wires and the filter itself are very noticeable. I strongly dislike that they are noticeable. But the underwater filter supplied with the tank is quiet small. I was thinking of buying a few small mirrors the size of the filter and placing them around the filter to some what make the filter less noticeable. This problem still did not discourage me from loving this table. Another issue is the wires to plug in the under the table light, the filter and the bubblers. If you have hardwood floors you can just buy a throw rug to hide the cords. I, on the other hand have carpeting in my living room. And also rent a half double. My landlord was nice enough to let me cut two little holes in the carpet. One under the tank and one under my couch. There is an outlet behind my couch. I strung the cords under the carpeting. This is very unnoticeable and worked great. The only problem this method posed was that in order to add a new device or get rid of another one i would have to unstring and restring them through the carpet. I do not like the filter that the tank came with because it is very hard to find replacement cartridges for it. I cant get them at a regular pet store, i have to special order them. Another issue is the lighting. The tank comes with a small light that shines one direction. Two are needed for equal lighting. I cannot find this light anywhere online to purchase a second. If i place the light under the middle of the tank, half of the tank is dark while half is perfectly lit. If i place it under the far edge (where i found was best to have it), the tank is all lit but dimmer on the far side. No heater can be used in this tank because it will cause condensation on the lid, the table top itself. that does not look pretty. I have hardy fish like goldfish, guppies, mollies, ect that are doing fine without the heater. Another issue is i am a big fan of bubblers and bubble stones. I love to have many bubblers in my tank. The bubbles pop at the top of the water creating droplets of water on the lid of the tank. After having this water on the inside lid of the tank my lid is now stained. I clean it and clean it and the water mark from where my bubblers are will not go away. To prevent the water droplets on the lid i would not fill the tank as high as it could go. But to me that was less room for my happy fish. In my opinion this tank would be a lovely idea for just water and plants. not a prosperous fish environment. Another issue i cant forget is how easily dirtied the lid gets. Yes i have a baby. And he loves to stick his sticky fingers all over the glass. So if you are an older couple, and the kids are grown up this is a great tank for you. Even will all the negative i have listed, i still enjoy my fish tank table. So think hard about whether or not you want it before spending the huge amount of money. This tank doesnt take a lot to maintain, the only thing is cleaning the glass everyday where my son messes.

Smaller than I thought it would be. I was hoping for something on the 8-10 inch range or larger. The log is about 5-6 inches max. Its in my tank right now so I don't want to pull it out. Marina Easy Clean Water Changer

The devise works very well however you may have to make a trip to your local hardware store for an adapter for it to attach to your kitchen sink. It fit to my bathroom sink but not my kitchen sink. a $2 part will fix that though. I would have given it a 5 had it come with ALL the correct adapters and if the suction cup clips would hold the tube in place when the water is turned on.

Other than that a decent product.

Very useful tool for the aquarium enthusiast. Easy hookup to my kitchen sink. I tried it on my 10 gallon tank to test it. It works great but I wouldn't recommend it for small tanks. It sucked out water at a very high rate even after adjusting the flow. I don't know what tank size minimum is best but I bought it primarily to use on my new 55 gallon tank and the rate issue is not a problem. The only thing with larger tanks is obviously it takes longer so be wary of your water bill. In the future I think I'll get some kind of system with an electric pump to save on water usage.

I have a 55 gallon tank and water changes can be trying. This products help a great deal but it is not very effective with the faucet hook up. The adapter that came with it dose not fit MY faucet, although it may fit yours, and the water usage is not at all practical. I have found using it as a siphoning system works just as well (if not better) and is a lot more practical. The length of the hose is great for draining the water right into the sink. Filling the tank straight from the faucet is by far the best part. It's worth the money just for that, but adding water with fish in the tank worries me because of the chlorine in our water so I won't do that. I'd recommend it to anyone with a large tank if you have a small tank, anything under 35 gal, it may not be what your looking for.

This works well to empty and refill tanks. I have four tanks and this makes water changes go by really fast.

Tip: When pulling water from tanks, you can get the suction going and then shut the water off at the sink so that you don' waste water and it will siphon out on its own.

I have also owned the python system and I would say that they are the same. I am glad that I purchased the Marina version again and saved some money for something else.

We have been using our 25 foot hose for over a year, and unable to buy another faucet coupling, we bought a 50 foot unit too. We have 13 aquariums ranging from a ten gallon to 80 and 90 gallons and raise angelfish so we do a lot of water changing. Using the hoses attached to our kitchen and bathroom faucets, we can change 20% of water in all our tanks in 1 1/2 hours. We do this every week, and daily in our fry tanks, and would be facing a lot more obstacles if we didn't have these water changer hoses. We were lucky to have started with the Marina Aquavacs because of their brass couplings. I think the plastic would not last so long.

Design Elements Yellow Coral Aquarium Ornament

This is pretty cool, it is much more green than yellow, the whole center is green and then there's a 1/4 inch band around the outside that is yellow. The base is black and it turned the sand in my tank black. It seems kind of sharp and rough but the fish don't seem to care. I have one cichlid who has dug the sand out from under the edge and uses this as his "spot."

Nice piece with good colors but note that the middle of it is much more green than it looks, very much two tone.

Works but not that well. Set it up to feed a 33 gallon long marine aquarium for a week while I was on vacation. I do like the way the drum rotates completely all the way around at once to dump food, some feeders use a slow turning of a drum to time the addition of food. Setup of the timer is just more complex than it should be. I used the included Velcro to mount the feeder to the top of a wood canopy where the flakes were to fall into a section I cut out for the hang-on-tank protein skimmer to fit in. Upon pulling the drum off to add flakes the plastic backing of the drum pulled out and bent(not good)although I was able to get it almost back into position when I put the drum back on. Also, when I returned the feeder had leaned over off the Velcro so that it was out of optimal position and the flakes weren't falling as they should. My fish lived but I wouldn't trust it again.

EDIT: I gave this product another try when going on vacation for two weeks this October 2007. When set up properly and filled properly this feeder works with out fail. I secured the feeder to a strip of scrap wood screwed into the tank hood so that it had to stay in place. I also filled the drum through the discharge hole instead of pulling the drum off. My fish were still fat and happy on my return. Can't be beat for the price. 5 Stars. If you lose the instructions for setting feeding times you can go to the link below for a complete on line copy.

I have a 20 gallon fish tank with six fishes(kois and goldfish) and I wanted a fish feeder for when I go on vacation which is normally about ten days. I used this item and it worked perfectly. You just have to program it for the time of day you want the fish to be fed and it can feed up to two feedings at a time . What happens is the drum just makes two rotations and drops the food. My wife and I are big fish lovers and also like to travel, weather permitting. We have three aquariums in our home. A 30 gal, a 20 gal, and a 10 gal fry tank. UPDATE:

Mounting the device with the clamping device is rather simple. The C clamp will attach to the front of all aquariums. Do this: place the device close to a lightbulb for 10 minutes to get the plastic more pliable. Not close enough to melt it however. Now remove the rubber suction cup from the inside of the clamp. This should be put away for future use. Use the non-hook side of the velcroe which is just a soft buffer for the glass. Place it where you want the feeder. Now slide the clamp down till it hits the inside of the plastic and gently open the clamp a small amount. It will spring back, no problem. Do not overdue the spreading of the clamp and do it slowely. Now the inside protion will go directly against the glass and the screw can be turned in against the velcroe. Tight and secure. Works extremely well.

I bought the Aquachef before going away on a vacation, as most people do. Some things I first noticed; programming is a bit ambiguous, but I figured it out; the device feels like it's going to break when you pull the drum off to fill it (there's no release, you just pull it), and the supply door is just a bent plastic fold, not really a door (mine is already starting to break), and the "clamp" was too narrow to get over either of my tank rims (they are regular plastic frames), I had to cut off the screw clamp and rely on the velcro to hold it on, it leans at an angle with the velcro barely holding it in place.

I have had it for about nine months now, it periodically loses all power, you have to bang it go get the display to come back on, all programming gets lost. If you disturb the machine (for instance when trying to pull the drum off) it loses power. Today, I noticed that the feeding latch was in the wrong position, after hitting manual feed a few times, I saw that the drum only goes around 180 degrees, not 360, so the feeding latch only lets food out every other cycle. I changed the batteries, re-programmed it, and it still only goes half way around.

Basically, it's junk. When I first noticed it losing power, I bought another brand as a back-up and I have both running. That feeder isn't much higher quality. I would love to find a high quality, reliable feeder.

I purchased this feeder so my fish would not go hungry while I was on vacation. The time and the feedings are set using a 24h clock, so it's pretty hard to mess up. I did a trial run and everything seemed to be working fine. When I got back from vacation, my fish were not looking so hot. I fed them and they ate voraciously which got me wondering if the feeder was actually working. So I set my iphone alarm for 10:00 am and watched the feeder to see if it was dispensing food. Nothing. Then I set it for 11:00 am, and watched. Still nothing. So somewhere during the time I was gone, this feeder just quit working. Batteries are fine, clock is set right and so is the feeding time.

Maybe it will work for you, but it didn't work for me.

I ended up proping half the skull up in a corner and spread the rest of the pieces along the bottom of the tank. the LED is very bright and directional; just how I wamnted it. The bubbler just made way too much noise for me to keep in my tank. if you are looking for something that makes a TON of bubbles this will be perfect for you, it was just a little overwhelming for my small tank.

API 3-Day Pyramid Automatic Fish Feeder

I'm unimpressed with this product. My fish don't eat it with the relish they have for their regular food (shrimp pellets and tropical tablets). I gave it an extra star only because my fish did well enough over the 3-day break from their regular food. Not recommended.

Provides a slow release and fish nibble on this when they're hungry. Dissolves much faster than the gel-disc variety and tetras and guppies like this type better.
