Seaclone 100 Protein Skimmer

Seaclone 100 Protein SkimmerI bought this skimmer to save some money, as many others have. I was prepared for the fact that I might have to modify it to get it to perform well but I haven't had to do so at all. I researched how a skimmer is supposed to perform, including watching videos of what skimmate should look like and this skimmer is perfoming adequately. I have to empty it pretty much every other day. The skimmate is dark and thick and some particulate matter is removed. The bubbles I get are tiny and plentiful and seem to be doing a good job.

Is it the best? No, it certainly isn't. Is it sufficient? Yes, absolutely. It is working very well in my tank. I use it in sump, for what its worth.

My tank is 36 gallons with a 10 gallon sump. I have 2 clowns, a coral beauty, yellow tail damsel and scooter dragonette along with the usual clean up crews. There is about 70 lbs of live rock.

IVS Portal 4" Aquarium Viewer

IVS Portal 4' Aquarium ViewerPros:

Nice to see the details with the portal viewer

It can be used to clean some algae off the tank

Seems to be well built

Cons:

Not that great as cleaning magnet

Has a limited range to view close ups, but I've read they're working on or already have another lens to view objects further from the original lens.

Summary:

I got the portal viewer to see close ups of SPS coral in my tank and that's exactly what this does. The range of view is somewhere around 16" for a nice clear image. Any further and it gets blurry. A little over priced for what it does, but it does it's job. Great way to inspect coral for any pests.

We love the portal and use it all the time to look at things in our saltwater reef tank. It is also helpful in finding pests like glass anemones. We don't use it as a glass cleaner and prefer our other tools for that. A definite "must have" for enjoying your reef tank.

Buy IVS Portal 4" Aquarium Viewer Now

I have a 60 gallon acrylic reef tank and the Portal works great to show off the awesome detail in the coral and makes new growth easy to identify. Not the best as a tank cleaner but holds well to tank and rounds corners easily. If you have a reef tank this is a no brainer.

All Glass Aquarium AAG65101 Part Starter Fs-4, 2pk

All Glass Aquarium AAG65101 Part Starter Fs-4, 2pkSo I needed a new condenser/starter. This did the trick and was less than 5 dollars. Sometimes you get lucky. With this product I avoided purchasing a whole new aquarium light.

I have a double bulb 48" All Glass aquarium light. When the lights quit turning on I Googled the light and thought that what I needed was these new STARTERS. After they arrived I open up the light fixture and found a BALLAST but no starters.

I should have open the fixture before I ordered the item. A word to the wise.

Aquarius LAV081 Black Lavarium-LED Multi-Color Light, Air Pump & Glass Pebbles

Aquarius LAV081 Black Lavarium-LED Multi-Color Light, Air Pump & Glass Pebblesplease, if you have any shred of decency. DO NOT put a fish in this, even for a beta this is to small. really put yourself in you fish's shoes (or fins) and think, would you want to live your life in a color changing plastic lamp. just use this as a lamp and skip the fish. Betas (or any small fish) should be kept in no smaller than a gallon tank, they don't require a lot of room, but still need some room to move around and exercise. this could have been a 5 star review if the image on the posting did not imply that this is even close to suitable for a living organism to live in.

This "tank" is too small to put ANY fish in. It shouldn't be legal to sell tanks less than a gallon.

Buy Aquarius LAV081 Black Lavarium-LED Multi-Color Light, Air Pump & Glass Pebbles Now

This thing doesn't even hold 1/2 gallon!! NO FISH should be kept in something this small. This is terribly inhumane to do to a fish! how would you like eating, pooping and sleeping in a room thats roughly 3' x 3'.... disgusting and disgraceful!! For less money you can order this...has a filter, hood, care guide and food!!

Design Elements Yellow Coral Aquarium Ornament

Design Elements Yellow Coral Aquarium Ornament Size: 6.1' HThis is pretty cool, it is much more green than yellow, the whole center is green and then there's a 1/4 inch band around the outside that is yellow. The base is black and it turned the sand in my tank black. It seems kind of sharp and rough but the fish don't seem to care. I have one cichlid who has dug the sand out from under the edge and uses this as his "spot."

Nice piece with good colors but note that the middle of it is much more green than it looks, very much two tone.

Deluxe Bow Fluorescent Full Aquarium Hood, 36 Gal Black

Deluxe Bow Fluorescent Full Aquarium Hood, 36 Gal BlackI bought this product and it was delivered with speed to my house, however the cheap plastic tabs that hold the front of it together broke apart as i was setting it up.... WITH NO EFFORT! not really pleased about this.

I do not understand the negative reviews unless the others were damaged in shipment. Mine was perfect but in all fairness, It was wrapped in bubble wrap like Tutankhamen and put in a large box with lots of peanuts. This is the original hood that comes with this tank and stand set. I had to order it because the shop had no hood with my tank and stand causing it to marked down to 99 bucks from 250. The light is nice and bright. Brighter than incandescent bulbs by far and wide. It is not as nice as the glass hoods but that is an upgrade. It fits the tank like a glove.

Snoozer Luxury Cozy Cave Pet Bed

Snoozer Luxury Cozy Cave, Cappuccino, LargeI have a basset hound, Max, that is very cold natured. He has a dog door so he is always going outside to howl at the neighborhood. But when he comes in, he just sits over on a pillow shivering. He can't figure out how to get under pillows and blankets. Now granted, he is not the smartest dog I have ever had. But he is the sweetest and I hate to see him shivering. So I saw this pillow on Amazon and decided to give it a try.

The result? Max loves it. He immediately figured out how to use it. And now he is in it all the time. And instead of sleeping while curled up in a ball, he sleeps sprawled out inside of this pillow. All you really see is his nose or tail sticking out.

I really have not had it long enough to speak to how easy it is to clean or how it wears. But so far so good.

Here is a video of the first time he came in from outside and climbed into the pillow:

I have two XL beds for my 45 pound vizslas. The dogs *love* them and the XL is plenty large (the Large is not quite big enough). If my two dogs were more snuggly with each other, they could both fit in one XL. The exterior (I have the suede-like material, not the canvas cotton) is nice but the interior fleece lining is low quality fleece. I have had one bed for about two years, and the fleece is now worn down and scratchy. The cover is washable but not in a regular agitator-style washer. I have to take them to the laundrymat and use a front-loader. Another improvement I would like to see is a waterproof liner to protect the dog bed insert. Currently I am using a twin size mattress protector that I sort of wrap around the bed and then put the cover on. It works okay but is awkward to use.

Buy Snoozer Luxury Cozy Cave Pet Bed Now

Researched the Cozy Bed for my cold-natured "burrower". First thing I did was take some of the foam out of it...and it was so easy. The bed has a zipper so you can take off and wash and the filler was in a zipper holder so all I had to do was unzip to take out some of the filler. Then I put her in there and she hasn't come out of it since last night. She would strongly recommend this bed to everyone out there! Also, I was pondering what size to get. She is a terrier mix and about 14 pounds, 20" long. I bought the small and and she can stretch out in it or roll into a ball!

Read Best Reviews of Snoozer Luxury Cozy Cave Pet Bed Here

I was really happy to see this bed, and the dog seemed to take to it quickly too. Problem is that my dog is a Dachshund who loves to burrow (reason that I bought this bed) and at first it seemed great. I moved it to my room and put it on my bed where he sleeps at night and when he got in, he moved toward the back and laid down, and that's when I stopped liking this bed.

When he tried to curl up near the back, he ended up rolling the bed so that it pointed up at around a 45 degree angle, and then it fell off of my bed with him in it. Dogs who like to burrow also like to have their backs against something, like the back on a dog bed. In this bed, the possibility exists for the dog to get back too far and tip the bid since unlike many foam-form beds, there are no sides nor back.

So, I fixed the problem, and this is how: I took out the cushion first; then I cut a couple of long strips of double-wall cardboard, around 5 1/2 inches tall and about 2/3 the circumference of the bed. I stuck them in to form a ring around the inside of the bed, and then put the cushion back in. Success! He now can lay in the bed with his back against the new wall, no tipping. I also find that he is now stretching out more since he isn't afraid of the tipping.

Note to manufacturer: this is an easy fix and you should be providing that ring.

Unfortunately only bought one and two of my dogs just LOVE it! As soon as one gets out the other gets in. This is a high quality bed and I would have bought another if they wouldn't have raised the price by $30!!! SHEESH

Aquavista 500 Wall Mounted Aquarium with Rama Background

AquaVista 500 Wall-Mounted Aquarium, BlackI love this aquarium. I am a fish lover and have various tanks in my house. I saw this and thought this is definitely something differnt, not only in looks but in function. The set up was easy, just hang it on your wall and add water and fish. There is a control panel on the side that maintains all the components, filtration, airflow, etc. We have it in out foyer so people see it right when they come in. We've gotten so many positive comments and even our friends have purchased a couple!!

I ordered the tank with the silver frame to match our stainless equipment in our kitchen and it looks great! I actually received the aquarium the next day! Set up was a little bit of a challenge as the depth is only 3 3/8" inches on the inside on the tank and I put a couple of plants and a piece of driftwood ( found me a few pieces of African driftwood with a depth of less than 3 3/8", terrific selection and excellent prices too). I originally put substrate (for shrimp) over a mesh covering the semi open bottom and the aquarium was overtaxed and became violently ill. I remedied the problem by slowly taking everything out and replacing the substrate with gravel and it works great now. The tank is very well designed and thought out and it comes with a net, cleaner pad on a pole, gravel (white), a mechanically manipulated mini grabber and everything you need except fish. Well written instruction manual with company phone number and a problem section which got me through the subsrtate problem. It's only been up for two days so I'll write an addendum if there are any problems. Jody Koval

Lee's The Ultimate Super Pump

Lee's The Ultimate Super PumpI needed a replacement T pump for my python water changer and this works> Just wanted to let everyone know.

I got this pump because a previous reviewer said it worked with the Python siphon. I needed to replace it. It looks exactly like it and the same size, but it's a different color (Python is green). This pump was a free shipping item and the Python pump was not, so I chose this one over the Python.

It hooks up to the faucet just like the Python, but make sure you keep the metal adaptor that came with your Python pump because the one that is on Lee's is plastic...booo. That can become weak and strip over time. Got everything hooked up just fine, but it was siphoning extremely slow. it took a while to get the water up the tube and to the sink and if I picked up the vac out of the water and then put it back in, the suction goes away completely. It won't suck up anymore unless I empty all of the water out of the entire line. Once it's all empty, I can slowly get my suction back. Oh, and if you hit the python switch to stop the flow for a second, the same thing happens. You have to empty all the water out of the line before you can start again. Very frustrating and takes a lot more time. It works but you'll be standing there for awhile. I have a 30g tank, so maybe people with smaller tanks have much more success. This is a great backup if you are in a bind, but I still suggest getting the Python pump for your Python vac.

Just got this little venturi, put it on the wash sink in the basement, which has a faucet that is threaded for a hose. Then hooked a full length garden hose to the side port and stuck the other end in the sump well, in the other corner of the basement.

Turn on the faucet, you create enough suction to raise water a few vertical feet through all that hose, believe it or not!

A lot easier than bailing the sump, if the power goes out.

Read Best Reviews of Lee's The Ultimate Super Pump Here

Aquarium filters remove many harmful chemicals, but nitrates do accumulate over time, and the way to remove them is by periodic partial water changes, usually something like 20% per week. The old way was to siphon water out into a bucket, which was dumped down the sink, commode, or in the yard. The bucket was then refilled and poured back into the tank.

To change water in this manner was a little bit labor intensive on a small tank, and really time consuming on a larger tank.

I stumbled on my pump in a Thrift store, where I found it on a shelf for $1. In all honesty, I'm not 100% sure mine is Lee brand, as it wasn't in the original package, and there is no name on it. It may actually be a knock-off. Mine is made of blue plastic, and looks identical to the item pictured.

It operates by connecting it to a water supply, which can be either an outside hose spigot, or by using the adapter, a kitchen faucet.

Water flows through from top to bottom, past a venturi located where the side fitting is, creating a suction which will draw water out of the aquarium through a hose. I purchased 50 feet of clear vinyl hose from my local aquarium store, attached it to this device, and put a suction strainer on the other end to avoid sucking small fish into the hose.

In use, I drop the suction strainer into the tank, unroll the hose, and attach the pump to the water tap outside my front door. Opening the diverter (the blue collar) on the pump outlet, then turning on the water tap starts a siphon which removes as much water from my tank as I desire (water tap can be closed once siphon starts so long as the pump is lower than the tank, siphon will continue).

Closing the diverter on the pump outlet stops the siphon, and opening the water tap with the diverter closed refills the tank.

I can't imagine any way to make water changes any easier. I've been using this device for years now, and it still works great.

There are also attachments which allow you to vacuum the gravel with the water siphoning out of the tank, if you feel the need to perform this task (I never vacuum because I don't use an undergravel filter, because I use EcoComplete substrate, and because I have fish which eat any food which falls to the bottom, so for me, the need simply isn't there).

Synthetic Coral Deep Blue Professional Replica Black Octopus 20x6x18inches

Synthetic Coral Deep Blue Professional Replica Black Octopus 20x6x18inchesDeep Blue creates the most realistic an beautiful Faux coral you'll find. Each piece is fashioned by a hand sculpt and a mold is created. The corals are made from a fresh and salt water safe cold resin and the detail is nothin short of amazing. Over the years I've collected many pieces for my tanks and own different sizes of Staghorn, Mangrove root (not a coral) and many others. All have surpassed my expectations and this outstanding representation of black octopus coral is no exception.

Like the Staghorn I like the stark white and despite the name, if you're wondering if this piece is white it is, the name can be confusing as Black Octopus coral comes in peach, brown, black of course, red and white.

Using replica coral isn't just less expensive than actual dried coral, it protects our delicate reef systems which as you may already know are compromised world wide and many are failing. If you keep live corals these blend in easily and add a great deal of visual impact and make a sramatic impact to most any tank and any decor. They are of course a magnet for algae but then what isn't?

The good news is these pieces can be bleached in fact as I write this review I have an X lARGE Staghorn and a few of Deep Blues replica Texas Holey rocks bleaching in a large tub. The ratio for safe bleaching should be one part bleach to 10 parts water. When all traces of algae are gone run and rinse with clean cold water until all traces of the scent of bleach are gone. Prior to placing the pieces back into an aquarium it's important to neutralize any traces of bleach with a product like PRIME by SeaChem after that you're good to go.

The Octopus coral is especially nice if you run some LED air wands behind and or in front of the piece. I use white and Lunar blue and find the new bendable LED bubble wands by Aqueon the best yet. The LED lights are clear and bright, the bubbles uniform and each wand can be bent along the base of the coral which creates spectacular shadows while illuminating the branches from beneath.

This beautiful piece makes a stunning addition to any tank.

Lee's Flex Aquarium Tubing, Clear, 1/2-Inch by 100-Foot

Lee's Flex Aquarium Tubing, Clear, 1/2-Inch by 100-FootThe other reviewers lack a certain common sense. The price is for a box which contains 100' of the tubing, not per foot. Seriously, use your brain. No one is going to charge over $5,000 for 100' of tubing. I am embarrassed for the other reviewers that they actually thought that.

This company's price for this product as advertised is clearly outrageous: $50.75 per foot for 1 foot of 1/2" clear flexible plastic tubing (also adds a $6.05 shipping charge for a product that weighs 1.6 ounces). I previously ordered the product at a price of $1.79 per foot. Get your act together or pull this product off the Amazaon web site.

Clearflo Kit

Laguna ClearFlo 1400 Kit - Includes PT1502 Pressure-Flo Filter & PT342 Max-Flo PumpFirst impression was that I have bought a quality unit. I especially like the tool-less quick fittings. Simple, secure, and leak free. Filter seems heavily constructed. Pump flows a decent amount of water for being so small. My Kill-O-Watt meter says it is pulling 42 watts and will cost me approximately $3.10 a month.

3 days after install and water is crystal clear. No green tint at all.

This unit replaced a homemade skippy filter and a hand-me-down submersible pump that kept the water clean but somewhat cloudy and green. Old pump pulled 380 watts (cost approximately $31.00 to operate every month), so the Laguna setup will pay for itself quickly.

Overall I'm very satisfied with my purchase. Time will tell about the quality of this system but right now I would recommend this system to a friend.

I don't usually review my purchases but due to the lack of reviews on this product I thought I would share my thoughts. Hope this helps someone else.

I have had this setup running for about two years now. I have had to replace the impeller in the pump once. Cheap and easy fix. Everything still works like new and water is staying Chrystal clear. I thought I would have to change the UV light by now, but it is still doing its job.

This is my first pressurized filter. In the past I have used only my skimmer and bio-fall but have had too deal with green water in the past. I must say my pond looks pretty good this summer attribute this to new filter.

Cleaning bars are worthless pump doesn't have enough power to efficiently back flush the system and clean the pads. I have foregone trying back flush and have gone to manual cleaning of filter pads on a weekly basis. Takes about 15 minutes to clean the five filter pads which after a week are completely clogged so I know the system is doing its job of filtering out the algea and other stuff in my pond.

System was easy to install.

Buy Clearflo Kit Now

I fought with many other pump and filter systems before going with this Pump and Filter Combo. My water was instantly crystal clear and to top it off, this thing has to be the easiet equipment ever to clean. Its well worth the investment even if you arent frustrated with your current set up like I was. I was ready to fill my pond back in and give my fish away.

Read Best Reviews of Clearflo Kit Here

At first this filter seemed great. The pond cleared up and it was easy to clean. However, in less than one month, the foam filters shrank so much that the the scaper bars didn't even touch the foam filters. Customer service said that should not happen and sent me a new set of filters. The second set of filters again, only lasted about a month before they shrunk. I'm not sure how or why they keep shrinking but they do. I now find that I have to take it apart every month and clean it and even then, it only performs well for a week or two. I do not recommend this filter!

Want Clearflo Kit Discount?

I love this filter. It cleared my pond up within three days. It was relatively simple to assemble (after I read the instructions several times). My only complaint is I had a hard time keeping the valves from leaking. I bought Tetra 1-1/4 tubing and don't know if this was part of the problem. I normally buy tubing at Lowe's; however, it's clear and I wanted black...so I ordered Tetra 20' tubing. I finally solved this problem though by using two metal clamps on each valve. I've had the filter in operation now for three weeks and all is working great. Don't let that keep you from buying this filter. It very well may have been user related! I have not had to backwash yet, so I don't know how easy this will be. I can only say I love how quickly the filter cleared up my green water. My pond is about 2000 gal. I've had large ponds but scaled it down because of maintenance. Let's face it, those of us that love ponds know the maintenance is a PAIN! I have a filter fall working with the filter. I'm very happy with my choice.

Bird Supplies #1806 Keet Triple Roof Cage 18 X 14 X 22.5"

Bird Supplies #1806 Keet Triple Roof Cage 18 X 14 X 22.5'We've had this cage for at least six years when Mrs. Spudman caught the escaped parakeet in the backyard. It has a drawer that pulls out for cleaning, but I never liked using it. Instead I'd just pull up the cage from the base and set it aside. The parakeets only flew out once in all those years.

Now the base has developed cracks at each end, and I've just orderd a new cage from Amazon.

This cage served us well. It has easy access from the top or from the vertically sliding doors. It came with plenty of perches, and we supplemented them with sticks from outside. Our keets love climbing on those sticks from one end of the cage to the other.

One complaint we've always had about this cage is that it doesn't keep all the seed and feathers within. There's always a mess around the cage spreading out several feet. We tried a cage skirt once, but it didn't work that well. We're hoping the new Vision cage with the clear, high base will do a better job keeping seed and feathers within.

API Replacement Test Tubes with Caps

API Replacement Test Tubes with CapsThe picture is not what I got. What I got was the API testtubes which I am happy with. They are the exact same that came with all the API tests that I already have. And to make your life easier if you have a bunch of these get one of these: "Karter Scientific 208V2 Plastic Test Tube Rack for 12/13mm Tubes, Holds 50, Detachable" Its a perfect fit.

If you use the API test kits then you may want to get these to go along with it. These are simply replacement tubes for the API kit so they are the exact same as what comes in the kit (clear tube with a 5 ml mark and a cap). And since they are somewhat fragile you will eventually need some replacements. Also helps out to have multiple test tubes if you are testing multiple tanks at once, in my case, 6. Its a lot easier filling a bunch of tubes at once for testing than using, rinsing and reusing the same few tubes over and over for one batch of tests.
