SpongeBob SquarePants® Jellyfishin' Aquarium Kit, 4 Gallon Tank w/Filter

SpongeBob SquarePants® Jellyfishin' Aquarium Kit, 4 Gallon Tank w/FilterThis is a great little starter aquarium. My son loves it! From the description I thought I needed to buy a pump and tubing for the aerating ornament; however, this was not the case. These items are included in the aquarium. We just had to buy the fish and food. Since it does not have a heater (and cautions against one since it's plastic) you cannot use tropical fish, but goldfish and danios will work. We bought 3 glofish, and they are beautiful.

An excellent aquarium for beginners. You don't need to buy anything else, it has a pump, filter and everything in the kit. I mistakenly bought an additional filter and a pump which I really didn't need. Just be careful assembling the aquarium--it may take about 20 minutes, the pictures were kind of tricky. Us eyour common sense if you can't understand them. :)

Pet Buddies PB1719 Googlie Stanley Skunk Large Toy

Pet Buddies PB1719 Googlie Stanley Skunk Large ToyI originally bought this for my mom's shih tzu, however, I failed to pay attention to this being a "large" toy. It was almost as big as the poor girls head! Despite her (the shih tzu's) attempts, she just couldn't play with it.

Luckily my niece has a boxer/english mastiff cross and she has destroyed every toy but this one. Well, until now haha.

She's just now after several weeks managed to gnaw off a single leg, but its still her favorite toy, and for a dog with a boxer's energy and a mastiff's size and power--that says something.

Definitely worth the money, provided your dog is a serious enough sized dog to enjoy it. I'd recommend this one for dogs anywhere from 45lbs+ in size. Basically medium sized and up.

I gave this to my sister for her dog. Her dog loves to play with it. She says he takes it all over the house.

I purchased this for my two boxer puppies. It is very durable (so far) and so cute! The rubber is very heavy so they won't be tearing it any time soon. They aren't used to the squeaker yet, but love chewing on it.

I think we own 5 or 10 of these "Googlies" by now and we love them (Oh, and so does the dog!). They keep Duke entertained for hours on end because of the unique shapes and the squeaking, I think. Plus, we like them because of the neat characters! I definitely recommend checking out a Googlie or two for you and your pet!

Air-Pod Aquarium up to 30 Gallons Air Pump

Air-Pod Aquarium up to 30 Gallons Air PumpI bought this airpump to use with my 10gallon quarantine/hospital tank and can honestly say it's super quiet. So quiet in fact that I can only hear the pump when my ear is about 3-5 inches from the unit. The unit is also extremely powerful. I have it connected to a Airtech Gang Valve 4 outlets running 2 separate lines. One connected to a 1" airstone and the second connected to a 12" bubble bar and with the gang valve fully open it's a hurricane inside the aquarium. Of course by adjusting the gang valve I can get the exact flow I want. Nice design, quiet and powerful. What more can you ask for in an aquarium airpump (NADA)? I would definitely recommend this pump to anyone wanting silent and powerful operation.

I bought this air pump that is labeled for use with up to 30 gallon tanks. I have a 10 gallon and this pump does not have enough air pressure to run a 5" bubble stone! It is quiet--maybe because it is doing so little!!!

U.P. Aqua Shrimp Sand

U.P. Aqua Shrimp SandThis substrate can't no longer buff my water ph. it's only been 4 months of use and my shrimp tank water can't go any lower than 7 ph.

I really like this product for my shrimp tanks.Works well, just rinse off and use.Shrimp love to look for food in it.Just the right size.

Buy U.P. Aqua Shrimp Sand Now

I purchased several bags of U.P. Aqua Shrimp Substrate for a couple tanks (20 Long PFR/10 PRL) based off of being newer to the market and a few glowing reviews. Here in the US we do not get many of the substrates that are available in HK, Japan, and Europe due to import restrictions and lack of importers in general.

Overall, it does look good and is what I would consider the only reason I haven't gave it away. Small ~1MM grains are easy for shrimp to play with, and several of my PFRs like to actually dig into it while scavenging. The reason they are able to interact with it so much is entirely due to the lightweight of the grains. Planting anything with buoyancy is frustrating without using inert weights, including Java Ferns which will "walk" around the tank at night without them in the currents. Waving a few fingers through the water and creating a current will send little black grains everywhere. Ph Buffering ability is pretty much non-existent unless you fill 1/5 of a 10G tank which wasn't a primary concern of mine as I use a 5 stage RO/DI anyways. Tested with both house tap, RO, grocery store mineral water and could not see any significant Ph buffering. There was no ammonia spike detected which is nice.

That being said, it would look incredible in a small desk nano as long as you are not depending on it to do much else than be inert. In that aspect I gave it 3 stars on looks alone, and it didn't give me any cloudiness issues to speak of. I will keep it in a few tanks, but I cannot say I am willing to spend that much again for an inactive substrate. There are much better values around here (twice as much product, actually buffer 6.5, and cost half the price).

This is an exceptionally clean and attractive substrate and so far I am very impressed. It rinses nearly clear and partial water changes do not cloud the water. One bag does a 10 gallon tank adequately.

Kyjen Dog Games Launch A Ball

Kyjen Dog Games Launch A BallI was researching buying a ball launcher and this one seems like it might fit the bill. But then I saw that *4* "5-star" reviews are written on the SAME DAY July 24th, 2012.

Then *three* more "5-star" reviews are written on the following two days. Out of 8 reviews total for this product (as of this writing), 7 of them are written within a 72 hour span.

When you read the reviews themselves, they are all written in the exact same style. This reeks of self-promotion.

This is big RED FLAG to me and, personally, I am not going to take a chance on dealing with this company.

me and my dogs love it. Will bring it to beach when weather turns warmer. They will have fun with it for sure.

The first thing I noticed about the Launch-A-Ball was the bright colors. Others handles are stiff and I have to work harder to throw the ball. This product MAXIMIZES my effort because of the flexibility. I can also pick up the ball without touching it. SMALL AND EASY TO STORE.

Exactly as advertised. Sturdy arm is the perfect length for picking up and throwing tennis balls. It's great not to have to bend down to pick up the ball every time! The arm is curved nicely and a little springy so you can really launch a ball nice and far without hurting your arm. Comes with a bright green ball and has no problem picking up any of our old standbys as well (though the ball it provides seems to be just a bit smaller than regular balls). Makes trips to the park that much more fun!

So my dog slobbers all day, and likes to play fetch. Finally I don't have to take a slobber bath with him when we go the park, this Launch Ball makes it easy to throw and I can also throw the ball farther. Tyson likes that. Aquatic Fundamentals 10/20 Gallon Aquarium Stand with Shelf

Aquatic Fundamentals 10/20 Gallon Aquarium Stand with ShelfIt's unfortunate that this stand is misrepresented in the product description. I recently purchased a 16g Nuvo Aquarium to use for a reef setup. Unfortunately, upon opening the box for this stand, which was packaged nicely, there is a sticker that specifically states that the maximum capacity of this stand is 200lbs. Let's do some math:

Tank ~40 lbs

Salt Water (16g @ 8.556 lbs/g) = ~137 lbs

Live Rock (Approx 1-2 lbs per gallon) = ~16 lbs

Live Sand (Approx 1 lb per gallon) = 16 lbs

209 lbs and that isn't including equipment needed to run the tank.

If you were to go with a fresh water tank at 20 gallons you are at 167 lbs with just water. Just a heads up.

Don't get me wrong here. I think the stand looks nice. I didn't put it together to avoid wasting my time (which I guess is moot now that I have to return it), so if you intend to use this for a 10 gallon tank, I'm sure the stand will look great and function well. The shelves look like they are coated in a nice finish as well. Unfortunately, this won't work for me. I REALLY wish I had known what this sticker said BEFORE I ordered it.

I shopped around for an aquarium stand and found a lot of expensive items that I didn't really like. I wanted something simple, not a giant piece of furniture. And I wanted something easy to assemble. This stand is sturdy, it looks nice, and it took 20 minutes to put together. Our aquarium is a 10 gallon tank, but it would accommodate a 20 gallon as well. There just wouldn't be any space around the edges of the top shelf.

My only (small) complaint is that the threads on one of the leg pieces were messed up so it was very hard to put one of the screws in. But that was probably just on the one I got and not a universal problem.

What else can I say? I like it a lot, it was exactly what I was looking for and it was a lot less expensive than the other aquarium stands I researched.

This product was easy to assemble (took about 20 minutes with no tools needed). Once built, it is very sturdy. I have used for both 10 & 20 gallon standard tank & fits great. However, a 20 gallon long does not fit. I placed baskets on the bottom 2 shelves and it hides all the food & equipment very well. The only complaint I have is that is a little to short (stands ~3 feet tall).

Almost everything about this stand is perfect for me. It's simple, inexpensive, not too large and very sturdy. My only complaint is that it is not completely waterproof. I spilled a bit of water on it during a water change and it created a couple of small welts. Its not very noticeable though so I don't really mind. I highly recommend this stand for smaller aquariums!! :)

Want Aquatic Fundamentals 10/20 Gallon Aquarium Stand with Shelf Discount?

There's room on top of this stand for our 10 gallon tank, the food, and a small lamp for the sofa next to it. The relatives eager to put this together (including a 10 year old) started with the shelves in the wrong order and ended up making a permanent mark on the eventual top shelf from columns screwed in too tightly. They thought the instructions were a little confusing. Anyway, I think it's nice and sturdy and well balanced with weight on top. Good value for the price.

SeaClear Rectangular Aquarium Combo in Cobalt Blue, 50 gal.

SeaClear Rectangular Aquarium Combo in Cobalt Blue, 50 gal.A 3-star so far, because I haven't set this up yet, but out of the box it looks absolutely beautiful. It arrived on time, in perfect looking condition,(I hope there's no leak). The acryllic was clean and the blue cobalt , gives it a built-in background of color. I'll update later. Updating...to five stars. I finished setting up my aquarium today. My tank looks absolutely fabulous. The tank is sound (thank God), no leaks, and no scratches. I love the clean rounded edges, and the blue cobalt background enhances the accessories I put in.The filter, heater, and air hose all have pre cut sections which makes placements so much more organized and easier. An all-around well designed, and built tank. I'm going to enjoy this one.

I absolutely love my acrylic aquarium. The rounded edges look great. Fish and plants show up really well in comparison to the smaller one I had before.

JW Pet Company Anchor Bubbler 12-Inch Aquarium Accessory

JW Pet Company Anchor Bubbler 12-Inch Aquarium AccessoryInstallment was simple and easy. However, due to my insufficient amount of gravel the anchor bubbler would float to the top after a week, which was expected since material is similar to foam. Thus, I set in rocks that sits perfectly into the anchors. I have two rocks per anchor and it now holds it in place perfectly and haven't budge since 1st improvement.

My pleco digs this bubble wand up. It's irritating and fairly difficult to anchor the "feet". I get one side down with enough gravel and the other side pulls out of the gravel. I have to use 2 hands to secure in the gravel and then my front gets wet.

Marineland PA0415 Eclipse Replacement Lamp, fits 6-gal, 12-Inch, 8-Watt

Marineland PA0415 Eclipse Replacement Lamp, fits 6-gal, 12-Inch, 8-WattI was well pleased with the price of the 12" fluorscent bulb I ordered.I was pleased I could find it. Thank You,

Do not, I repeat, do not buy the Eclipse six aquarium at all costs!! It's total garbage and the light will malfunction in short order. Like an idiot, I bought three (or was it four) hoods that all went to heck in a handbasket. The lamp may or may not have been part of the problem and I don't know for sure but the Eclipse six is poorly designed in so many ways I could go on and on and on...

It works. It is a light bulb, not much more to say about it as long as it works. So this requirement for the 20 words review is really silly. I wish I could plug in some other cheaper light tube for this unit, but unfortunately it only takes this one, so as long as it works, it's good.

Want Marineland PA0415 Eclipse Replacement Lamp, fits 6-gal, 12-Inch, 8-Watt Discount?

I got this bulb for my Aqueon 15 gal column tank. A 12-inch bulb isn't easy to find, so I purchased this one and a Power-Glo to see which is brighter. I can only find T5 bulbs that are 8-watts, which isn't ideal as I want the tank BRIGHT. This bulb bulb is a much lower kelvin than the Power Glo, but the light looks very dull and a tad yellow once it is installed. It actually seems like it might be a bit dimmer than the original Aqueon bulb that the tank came with. Plants would probably do ok with it if they could tolerate medium light. Keep in mind my tank is very deep, so this review may not be a great qualifier for more standard shaped tanks where the light has less depth to penetrate.

All that being said, it's hard to find 12" bulbs and beggars can't be choosers (well, except in this case they can). If this was the only bulb I could get my hands on, it would probably suffice.

Dymax IQ3 Acrylic Aquarium - Black

Dymax IQ3 Acrylic Aquarium - BlackI read mixed reviews so I thought I would share my experience. I've had the tank up and running for a week and I'm very happy. It's a salt water tank. I just put a damsel in to help cycle the tank. In a couple weeks I'm going to add some mushrooms. The key is to do a simple water change once a week and make sure you add carbon and Rowa every so often to absorb any toxins. The LED is functioning properly and the filtration is excellent so far. I'd rather have faster moving water rather than an under powered pump. If anything breaks or burns out prematurely I will update my review. Thanks for reading :)

Hydor ETH 200 In-Line External Heater 200w 5/8" hose - Original Eth 201

Hydor ETH 200 In-Line External Heater 200w 5/8' hose - Original Eth 201I have a tall 29 gallon that had a typical submersible "stick" heater in it. The problem inconsistent heat. No matter where you put that stick, the temperature in the tank will vary as you get further away from the stick, and will vary a lot from top to bottom. I had to set it to 82 degrees to get an average of 76, and the furthest corner was usually closer to 72.... that's a HUGE variance which is bad for the fish.

This heats ALL your water every drop passes through this heater (about 6 times an hour if you have adequate flow through your filter).

I put this in my output line, set it to 78, and within 1 hour got a reading of EXACTLY 78, no matter where I put the thermometer in the tank. I will never go back to stick heaters again.

HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION!!!

Bought this heater for use w/ a Fluval 305 canister filter on a 45gal corner pentagram community tank. The old glass tube heater's thermostat seemed to stop working (maybe because I let the water level drop a bit low), and I came across this inline model while looking for a replacement.

First off, the heater is much larger than I expected. It was too long to install above the filter yet below the tank in my stand (while keeping the required vertical positioning), so I had to move the tank away from the wall in order to install it in-line on the return hose behind the tank. Since it's also pretty fat (much thicker than the hoses themselves), the tank now sits a few inches from the wall instead of almost right up against it. The Fluval 305 filter also uses the ribbed hoses, which I found out after purchasing the heater are not 5/8ths, but 3/4" themselves. A few posts on the net said connecting the ribbed hoses directly to the heater would result in leaks. I ended up buying a couple of the rubber Fluval hose ends, which just push on to the ends of the cut ribbed hose, and so far, no leaks.

Once installed, the heater seems to work well, but the temp setting on the dial doesn't match the 2 thermometers in the tank. The thermometers both read ~2 degrees higher than the dial. As long as this remains consisant, this isn't a big deal. The ambient temp in the house will be as low as 65, but the heater doesn't seem to have any trouble maintaining the tank at 78.

It is nice to be able to not have a glass tube heater showing in the tank, though. Makes for a cleaner looking setup.

Buy Hydor ETH 200 In-Line External Heater 200w 5/8" hose - Original Eth 201 Now

My first fish was a little crazy and used to swim frantically around the tank banging into the walls. Turns out he smashed the glass heater and the rest (along with the fish) is history. Went to the "in-line" heater version after that and this heater works great. Use it in a 30 gallon, acrylic tank.

Read Best Reviews of Hydor ETH 200 In-Line External Heater 200w 5/8" hose - Original Eth 201 Here

I bought one of these to use with a Fluval 306 canister filter and 50 gallon tank. Connecting it to the filter was not straight forward since Fluval uses ribbed hoses. I ended up using a clear 5/8" PVC hose from the filter to the intake of the heater and then used the rubber connector and the ribbed hose on the discharge to the tank. So far in nearly 6 months of use this has worked flawlessly with no leaks.

I can't say enough about how well the heater works as far as controlling the tank temperature. I have a digital thermometer and it never fluctuates more than +/.1 degrees no matter what the room temperature is. You do hear a slight click when the the heater turns on or off which means they use a mechanical relay to control the voltage to the heating element. I like this as most heaters use a solid state relay (think transistor) which is usually the reason heaters fail in the "on" state and fry the tank, SSR's almost always fail "on".

If you have a canister filter you can't go wrong with one of these heaters.

Want Hydor ETH 200 In-Line External Heater 200w 5/8" hose - Original Eth 201 Discount?

I have this installed on the output of a Fluval 206 canister filter. Keeps the turtle water at 80 degrees effortlessly. The outside of the unit does not get very warm, so it is not a problem having it rest against the aquarium background. The tank is a 55 gallon with about 40 gallons of water in it. I took about a foot of the black flexible Fluval tubing and put a rubber end on it with silicone, then covered that with heat shrink tubing. It attaches firmly to the compression fitting. I had a clip that slides over the tank rim, so attached the heater to that with a cable tie. It is very lightweight. Love it!

Rio Plus 3100HP Water Pump for Aquarium, 900-Gallon Per Hour

Rio Plus 3100HP Water Pump for Aquarium, 900-Gallon Per HourI have been using this pump for my 75 gallon water tank. It used to take me 20 minutes to change the water and now it takes 5-7 minutes. Amazing and reasonably priced.

I like this product because it supplies my outdoor fountain with the sufficient water flow to keep the water moving. This product has completely met all my expectations.

Buy Rio Plus 3100HP Water Pump for Aquarium, 900-Gallon Per Hour Now

I've had this pump for 2 years now and it's still going strong. I've never needed to replace the impeller, unlike the Rio 800 which needs to be replaced once or twice a year. The Rio 3100 is actually more powerful than expected, even after 2 years, which is why I am in the market for a smaller powerhead.

Read Best Reviews of Rio Plus 3100HP Water Pump for Aquarium, 900-Gallon Per Hour Here

I bought a Rio 3100 pump to power my Pro Clear Aquatics 175 wet/dry filter and it's just about perfect for that application. The pump is designed to run submerged so I just placed it in the sump where is sits on it's suction cups. For the inlet I installed a 90 degree fitting to prevent vortexing and cavitation of the pump because the water level in the sump is only about 4 inches deep. Then I come right out of the top with a hose for the return it's very simple.

The pump is nice and quiet. I did have a little noise at first but I think that might have been some residual air that took a few minutes to get through the system now, while not totally silent it's still nearly inaudible. Also, under my sump I placed a couple of pads made from some closed cell foam and the whole thing is inside of a cabinet which helps to make it even more quiet in the room.

The pump draws less wattage than any other pump of it's size that I could find, only about 75 watts. We will see how it does over the long haul but I've had great results from the other Rio pumps I've used in the past(Rio 1100) for other purposes.

The pump is not expensive either and that's another plus and thus a great value.

Float Aqua Log for Pet

Zoo Med Floating Aquarium Log, SmallI bought this because I have a lone guppy in a ten-gallon tank, and I found out the guppies like to hide in order to relieve their fish-stress. Well, my guppy swam through this floating log about twice that I saw, but never adopted it as a "hang out".

Also, these floating logs really do float and one day I saw to my horror my guppy trapped between the log and one of the sides of the aquarium. So I took it out and now it's in my "another great aquarium idea that didn't work" box. I'm rather disappointed.

This very nice looking product could be improved by some sort of anchoring mechanism that would keep it from floating out of control in tanks with moving currents of water. I would have jury-rigged such a mechanism myself if the guppy liked the log, but he didn't.

Not as realistic as some other aquarium decor, but floats as advertised. Fantastic price for the buy (other stores were selling for 4x as much.

This realistically ugly plastic log floats on the surface of the tank providing a hiding place for brooding mouthbrooders and chewed-on males. Like penn-plex's cliffs and caves, it provides a hiding place away from the prime territory at the tank bottoms, so the dominant males leave it alone. There are no suction cups to fail and it sits in a stable orientation and does not roll. It boast a "feeding hole", but I wouldn't use it. If the aggressive fish find food in they won't leave it alone.

My betta loves this log. He sleeps in it rather than the betta leaf hamock thing I got him and will chase the other fish in the tank away from it. Only downside is if you've got a territorial and aggressive fish it could become a bit of a war zone, so it may not be for ever tank.

Want Float Aqua Log for Pet Discount?

This product is probably better suited for turtles and frogs. Some fish may like it. My fish could care less. When the fish are hanging around the top of the tank, especially while feeding, they may pass through it just to get to the other side...meaning they go through it because that is easier than swimming around it or under it at the moment. Otherwise they ignore it. Am going to try it in another tank with a different type of fish and see how they react to it.
