Lee's Thinwall Rigid Tubing 3/16 in. x 3 feet

None of the local stores carry this anymore so I was happy to find it on Amazon -at a very reasonable price too.

It arrived from the vendor in a long tube box and wrapped in tons of bubble wrap.

They obviously have learned from their mistakes in packaging in the past (see other reviewers) and did a great job with my order. No complaints at all!

This tubing arrived bent in a 180 degree angle in a box that was too small for it. Why not ship it in a poster tube?!!

Luckily I only need a short section to complete my co2 diffuser, but where I'd normally keep the leftover piece for future use, I think I'll have to toss it. What good is this bent up to me? I don't think I should have to resort to heating it to straighten it out like the previous commenter.

Revisit how you ship this thing!

Do not buy this if you need a 36" x 1" diameter undergravel riser tube since they ship a 3/16" outside diameter air hose tube, as described further down the page. The 36" small tubes where coiled in a 20" x 20" bag and needed to be heated up to get them straight again.

I am writing this summary for the rigid tube pipe. This tubing is use full in a variety of jobs from connecting air line tubing to air line tubing or using for a rigid spacer between air line tubing and air stone, or as an outlet for your air making big bubbles. it is also used as a rigid gude for your air line in an under gravel filter. I am sure it has a dozen or more uses also.

What's to say? It's rigid aquarium tubing. Its OD fits nicely into standard flexible aquarium tubing ID. My only critique is that the seller bent it to package it and it stayed bent. That wasn't the end of the world because I only needed about 18" of straight tubing.

Fish Mate 3000PUV Pressurized UV+Bio Pond Filter

It took me about 6 months to actually get around to installing this in our pond, mostly because I was redoing the waterfall but I'm also quite lazy.

Previously I had tried using a 200 gallon gravity filter, media filtration, and a skimmer/pump combo. In all cases there was little improvement on algae blossoms, mosquito larvae, and water quality. After talking to a local shop, I sought out this specific filter because they had a lot of success with a showcase koi pond located behind the store.

After reading the relatively detailed instructions and following the advice of pond enthusiasts, installation took about 4 hours due to the rocky soil (it doesn't have to be in the soil but can sit flush). Since filtration efforts had been miserable failures prior to this, my hopes were high but my expectations sat far lower, so I plugged it in and went about my business.

Two weeks to the day, my pond is clear enough to make out fine details along the bottom; including areas where green frogs have burrowed into the muck. Not only is the pond clear enough to make out fine details, I finally discovered where a slow leak was coming from (liner is sinking). As a final reward, of sorts anyway, there was also a revelation in finding two long forgotten lawn ornaments, a bunch of toys tossed in long ago by my daughter or her friends, and the skeletal remains of a cat.

I will have to wait until spring and summer to see how well the UV works on controlling algae at peak levels of sunshine and mosquito larvae but with the rapid development of clarity I am feeling confident that we'll be able to maintain good water quality. Highly recommend this filter!

This device does keep the water clean. However, it is made of cheap, brittle plastic that is prone to failure. In one year, I've had three different "Tanks" which have all failed in various ways (a crack, another crack, and a complete 0-ring seal surface failure). The clean-out valve has also failed, resulting in most of the pond water being pumped out. The manufacturer has so far replaced the parts, but their customer support staff treats you like a criminal when you call, implying that you have done something wrong with the product. What is there to do wrong? It is backwashed every week. The pump can not supply enough pressure to exceed the rating of the device.

Look, a person can go broke by owning a pond with all the chemicals and media filtration and more chemicals. All the pond places recommend these expensive "mercedes benz" units (that cost $1000 more than this fishmate) to do the job of this fishmate. I have learned to get the advice of other water gardeners on Daves Garden and quite a few of them were already using this and highly recommended it! Some of these people owned other units prior that cost A LOT more but weren't as easy to clean.

I bought this Fishmate because I was having a lot of health problems with my koi. I have an extensive waterfall filtration system and a turnover rate in my 2000 gallon pond of 2.5 times an hour yet my fish were always sick with something or another. I was also struggling with suspended algae. The UV light cleared the water within 24 hours. My pond wasn't as dirty as the other reviewer with the toys and dead cat in his pond... (?) but it wasn't crystal clear like it is now. Also, I am happy to say the fish are healthier!!!

It took me about 35 minutes to assemble it. That is only because I had to measure tubes and trim them and read the instructions. It really was a no brainer! If I had to set one up now after doing the first it would probably take me 10 minutes.

Another great tip I recvd from other water gardeners is to dig a hole in the ground and fit it with a large enough bucket or similar walled container with the bottom cut out. Place the Fishmate into the hole and landscape. I used a bucket and it works great! The reason for the bucket is to keep the walls of the ground from caving in on the canister. You can drain the muck our right into this bottomless muck pit.

BTW: I bought my Fishmate 3 months ago. Buy all the hoses and clips all at the same time and you can get it up and running ASAP.

Forget the chemicals. I could have purchased two of these units with the money I spent on algae kill in the last three years. My water (2500 gallons) is crystal clear even in the hot summer with full sun and several fish. Even the smell of dead, rotting algae is gone. The unit was easy to install and there have not been any leaks or problems. Even my fish are happier. I don't think they ever liked those chemicals. After adding chemicals they wouldn't eat for several days.

We have had one of these filters for about 6 yrs now. Our first one died last year and we were waiting till spring to replace it. We waited just a few weeks too long before we had a full algae bloom. I ordered the filter on Thursday and when we came home from work on Friday, our pond looked like green pea soup. The filter came on Saturday and I was afraid that the algae had already gotten out of control and it would take weeks to get the water clean again. I will keep these plants and use them as they are the size I need, but I wanted plants that were green with some red (like the picture). What I received was red plants with little or no green on them. I am disappointed that they do not look like what is shown online. The bases look more like Plaster of Paris then ceramic. Aqua Tank Betta - Penn plax beta bow front cubed tank

The main problem with this product is it is poorly manufactured and in my opinion over priced.

The cube is a really nice size and your betta will have room to swim. They are compact but are big enough for your betta to be comfortable. The cube comes with a plant and gravel. I didn't like the plant but the gravel is coordinated with the color of the cube.

The lid is a great feature of this product. The shape is nice because you have plenty of viewing room.

If you buy this product make sure you have some silicone aquarium sealer .........more than likely you will need it. Very poorly manufactured.

This product is far too small for a living animal. Bettas are kept in small containers in pet stores because they cannot be kept with other bettas-that does not mean that's how they are meant to be kept as pets. Please research proper living conditions before purchasing something like this. If you want to see how bettas act in properly-sized tanks (HEATED tanks-they're tropical fish!), check YouTube. You might be surprised.

Marina I25 Internal Filter

It's a nice little filter, works well with low flow. I have it in a betta tank and it gets the water circulated without pushing the betta around. The reason I gave it 4 stars is because I wish there were more options for filter cartridges. Once a tank is cycled, you shouldn't remove or replace the filter media or you will cause the tank to cycle again, which can kill fish. This filter only has cartridges that have a teensy bio sponge, then a compartment for carbon, and another compartment for ammonia absorbing media. Once a tank is cycled, there's no need for carbon or ammonia absoribing media, and these two things stop working after a week or two and need to be replaced anyway. To solve this problem, I took some cut-to-fit filter floss and used fishing line to "sew" it into a pillow the same size as the cartridge, then stuffed it with bio beads and sewed it closed. It fits into the filter and doesn't obstruct the flow and I can use it for years with nothing more than a swish in a bucket of conditioned water.

I installed this filter yesterday afternoon in my 2 gallon betta tank with a brand new fish. This unit is easy to install, disassemble and clean. It is so small that it should fit easily in any size aquarium that has at least one flat side. It appears to be working great so far. It is powerful, but gentle and nearly silent. Horizontal Aquarium Thermometer

Easy to read, cheap and accurate. This one is removable without braking, which the older similar ATI thermometer wasn't. So all in all I can only recommend it.

I have one other ATI thermometer that works great. In looking for a second aquarium thermometer, I tried other brands, all of which failed miserably in comparison to this ATI product. Upon trying another ATI thermometer, success!

A lot of people say these types of thermometers aren't accurate. I disagree highly, I have several standard tube types that read the same temperature as this excellent unit. Plus unlike those where I have to take a moment to figure out the temperature, this one is clear at a glance. Unlike some other similar models, this one can be moved to other tanks or different spots on the same tanks. Very glad I purchased this, will buy this model again if needed!

Petco Variety Pack Plastic Aquarium Plants

I bought a variety pack at Petco, it's affordable and you get around 3 or 4 plastic plants depending. They are all of varying sizes and my Betta seems to like them. Although they are plastic, my Betta has not had any fins tearing or anything like that.

Note:

I've had these about a month now, and they are beginning to disintegrate and become stringy. My filter catches more of the stringy junk everyday. I'm probably going to have to replace them soon.

I don't know if this happens to all plastic plants. Just thought I'd share.

Marina CUBUS Glass Betta Kit

0.9 gallons is way too small of a space for a betta to be happy. Get a 5 gallon, heater, hood and light, and a betta hammock. Give him some plants (silk or real because pointy fake plants can injure him) and some gravel. Put a ghost shrimp or two in the tank with him to help keep his area clean. Then you have a happy betta. This tiny thing isn't the best choice.

As other reviewers have commented this tank is much too small to create a healthy environment for a Betta. While it is initially aesthetically pleasing the small size of this tank simply leads to stressed out fish, whom quickly loses their colour, and shortens their life span. If you're the kind of person whom values appearances over the health of your pets, than I doubt this review will change your mind. However if you genuinely care for the well being of your pets please select an alternative tank (Around 5 gallons, like the Fluval Chi).

LIghting works fantastically! Plenty of bright lights, one white and one actinic, and the additional LED "moon lighting" is something that I would have a hard time living without now that I've seen how beautiful it can be shinning on coral during the wee hours of the nighttime. For reference, i'm using the fixture over a 70 gallon, corner, salt water aquarium. However, the fan noise once the unit warms up is too loud for my comfort level in a living room environment. I googled fan noise and this model and found I was not alone with this concern. Thought about returning the unit but will see if I can get used to the background noise. The fan noise can best be described as like a low level jet engine sound. The only other concern is that the mounting legs are a little awkward to install. Better illustrations in the assembly manual would be a suggestion to the manufacturer. It was easy once "I got it." All bulbs were included.
