Oceanic Systems Inc. Oc Biocube Replace Fan Biocube Replacement Fan For 8 & 14 Gal Filter Cartridges

Oceanic Systems Inc. Oc Biocube Replace Fan Biocube Replacement Fan For 8 & 14 Gal Filter CartridgesThe image to promote the fans leads you to believe that you will be getting Oceanic OEM fans. The reality is that you get fans that are thinner than original, with ball bearings that are noisier than the original. If one of your fans is going and you need something to replace them in a pinch, these will do, but if you're able to source either OEM or open market sleeve bearing (quieter) replacements, skip these. Also, the original ones draw .08A, these indicate a draw of .15A.

The fan was not the right size for the 8 gallon biocube. The fan was to thin so it rattles while it is on.

JW Pet Company Accuair 4-Way Aquarium Gang Valve

JW Pet Company Accuair 4-Way Aquarium Gang ValveI purchased this because I have several items in my 55 gallon fish tank that I wanted running at the same time. This one is by far better than the other model I had gotten awhile back. I always felt that one had air leaks. I love that I can adjust them so I have the proper air flow coming out of those that need more and those that need less. I do however think I may need to go to a larger air pump now as I don't think mine has enough power for all 4 but I had questioned that before hand.

I REALLY NEEDED ANOTHER GANG VALVE TO GO WITH ALL THE OTHER AIR LINES I HAVE GOING ON IN MY TANK, ALONGE WITH THE AIR PUMP I GOT THIS WORKS GREAT

Buy JW Pet Company Accuair 4-Way Aquarium Gang Valve Now

For multi vavles...this is a pain...better to get the valves that just has a lever....this product works okay...but if you spend 10's of dollars on the aquarium....spend another dollar on a better valve....since you use it everyday when feeding you fish....the company is great...fast efficient....but the need to get the all metal valves.

The clear plastic breaks and cracks easily. Not recommended. Instead, I suggust purchasing the hard plastic black ones found at PetSmart.

I have this valve on my 75 gallon freshwater tank and it works very well. I have one valve off and i am using three valves. Works well on a glass aquarium but i wouldnt get this for outdoor use or an acrylic tank unless you have an alternative mounting plan.

Fish & Aquatic Supplies Tetra Safestart 100Ml

Fish & Aquatic Supplies Tetra Safestart 100MlI transferred my betta from a bowl to a 5 gallon tank, and needless to say, I was anxious to get him into his new spacious tank ASAP. This product allowed me to do that after just one 12 hour period with the filter running and the SafeStart added (not sure even that was necessary). My betta has been happy, active and blubble-nesting away in his new environment from day one thanks to this product!

I got this after I set up a new 2gal aquarium (under gravel filter, aerator and heater...cost more than the fish, but worth it!) and had never heard of cycling (please Google aquarium cycling or nitrogen cycle, too long to explain here). After testing I found very high nitrites >5ppm and no nitrates (very bad). I called Tetra and they told me to change 25% of the water and put in 1 teaspoon into the new water (mix with the new 25% water before putting in the tank, also add dechlorinator and can add aquarium salt not table salt). By the following week when I tested again nitrites were 0 and nitrates were 0-5ppm (desirable readings). I highly recommend this product. Note: shake extremely well and refrigerate after opening.

Hydrofarm AAPA3.2L 2-Watt 3.2-LPM Active Aqua Air Pump with 1-Outlet

Hydrofarm AAPA3.2L 2-Watt 3.2-LPM Active Aqua Air Pump with 1-OutletI used this pump for my 3 gallons aquarium. It works perfectly, no sound and you can control the pump flow rate very easily.

Exactly what I needed for my project and meets all my expectations.

Arrived on time and works fine.

If and when this unit fails, I'll purchase another.

Either defective or poor quality, this air pump did not pump air at all... even after futzing with the control. Went back to the Tetra pump which still works fine. I recommend the Tetra which has been working well for over 3 years.

http://www.amazon.com/Tetra-77851-Whisper-Pump-10-Gallon/dp/B0009YJ4N6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1361196113&sr=8-1&keywords=aquarium+air+pump

I was looking for a bit quieter pump.

I cannot recommend the Hydrofarm Air Pump. Too little cost to return. Thru it in the trash.

No big deal ;-)

I like this pump. I've had it for some time now. I seems to be holding up well and it is pretty quiet for output. I have it driving one large 4" air stone at about 20" depth. It puts out a nice wall of bubbles. I like that it is adjustable too. I have used that feature too. Better than other cheap diaphram pumps I've used. Reminds me of the 80s "SUPRA" of old.

This is the quietest little pump I've ever owned. Also one of the cheapest ! I used this in an Aerogarden spacesaver when the original airpump went out. The Elite spacesaver is obsolete, but this was better than a replacement. This is an upgrade! Adjustable airflow is nice for my application too. I have owned many aquariums & I can tell it would also be great for that.

Zoo Med Reptile Basking Spot Lamp 75 Watts 2 Bulb Value Pack

Zoo Med Reptile Basking Spot Lamp 75 Watts 2 Bulb Value PackI bought a two pack of these bulbs from a local retailer on 14 March. Worked great initially, but I was pretty disgusted when I came home from work on 26 March to find the lamp burned out. A week and a half? I thought perhaps the bulb overheated or something, although you'd figure a *heat lamp* would be designed to tolerate high heat. Anyway, I tilted the bowl fixture from almost straight down to about 35 degrees off of vertical to allow more heat to escape, and aimed a pretty small fan at the top of the fixture to cool it. The second bulb blew out on 8 April, giving me an average bulb life of about 12 days--but considering the bulbs were on a 10 hour timer, they lasted for about 120 hours each. Totally unacceptable! Since then I've had a regular Philips 100W reflector spot bulb and it's been working great for 61 days. An email I sent to Zoo Med has gone unanswered for weeks. I won't be buying anything from Zoo Med again.

I purchased a double 75w pack of these bulbs. I use them for my uromastyx cage where the basking temp. has to be at 120 degrees and the lights on for 10 hrs a day. The first bulb I used lasted a little more than a month. The second one that I had used didn't even last a month. I feel that this bulb should last longer than this. I used the equivalent bulb from a different brand and it lasted months!

I saw many a review stating that only minutes were received, but for me they work long time so maybe I'm lucky or my electrons may be milder that others. Either way, good price if the shipping is free, otherwise best to arise from the couch and buy them at the local institution.

Fluval Polyresin Aquarium Ornament - Rock Outcrop

Fluval Polyresin Aquarium Ornament - Rock OutcropI recently added one of these Fluval rock outcrop ornaments to a Mr. Aqua 7.5 gallon rimless cube aquarium, that I am using as a ghost shrimp tank. I planted some Java Fern around this ornament for realism and it looks very nice.

My ghost shrimp like to climb up on it and use the ornament for a vantage point in the aquarium.

I recommend it for anyone looking for a realistic outcrop formation.

love the looks of this rock, very solid and made well. Soaked in water before using it in tank. no problems with it or fish once it was in my tank. I bought two of these and one larger one so I could make different looks to the tank by flipping it around and grouping it differently.

This piece of wood is smaller than you might realize by looking at the picture, however it is a nice looking piece of drift wood. My husband bought it for our children's little 10 gallon tank and it would be the right size. Unfortunately, this wood has yet to make into our tank. After we received it in the mail it was sitting on the counter prior to being put in the fish tank. I noticed it had a sticker on the wood so I read what it said as I removed it. The sticker stated that this wood was the ideal addition to home aquariums however due to some of the unique properties of the wood it would need to be soaked for "a few days" to allow the color to leach out. It stated that if you do not do this your fish tank water might be discolored. I was relieved that I read the sticker prior to my husband tossing it into the tank. I pulled out a large salad bowl, filled it with water and dropped the wood in. I was shocked the next morning to find the wood caused the water to turn the color of tea. I thought that was probably all the color that was going to leach out but just in case I emptied the bowl out and filled it with fresh water. After a week of changing the water every day I was beginning to think that the unique properties of this wood were such that it would cause my fish to be obscured. After a month the wood is still leaching color, at this point it is no longer a dark tea color however it is still turning the water a color I do not wish for my fish tank to be.

Beware when purchasing this product. If you have a lot of time and do not mind the wait this wood looks very nice. For those of you who have children or husbands who want instant gratification this product is not for you.

Hagen Nutrafin Ammonia 0.0 to 7.3 Mg/L for Freshwater, 70 -Tests

Hagen Nutrafin Ammonia 0.0 to 7.3 Mg/L for Freshwater, 70 -TestsThis test kit will do the job of testing for Ammonia, I'm sure. The testing seems to be straight forward and the booklet contains a great explanation of the whys and where fore's and how to treat for the different levels of amonia. And while the booklet seems sturdy, I'm wondering what a couple of tests holding water against the slick card stock will do to the comparison chart. I wish there were a separate plastic comparison chart rather than just on the back of the booklet.

I give it four stars for now.

Catalina Aquarium CA 3000 Aquarium Pump 1000 GPH

Catalina Aquarium CA 3000 Aquarium Pump 1000 GPHI purchased this because I saw one in a pet store but,it was pricey.I have a sump on my 125 gallon tank and,I needed another pump.I decided not to go back with the one I had so,I decided to try this and,I must say I am disappointed. The price was pretty good but it doesn't push as strong as my old one which was about the same gph. Also the fitting for my sump hose dose not fit snug.

I purchased this item in a setup.(tank, stand, hood, filtration system,etc.)USED. The pump was bad, It looked like it was run dry for a long time. The inside where the impeller goes had gotten hot and was deformed. So I bought a new one of the same type. Seems to work good, it pumps alot of water. The only servicable part is the impeller. It's easy to clean. We'll see how long it lasts. But it works good now.

I bought this to up the flow to my sump. It has an automatic thermostat that turns off when it gets too hot, then back on when it cools down. In 80 degree water that's very 10 minutes. So, it either has a bad self cooling design or the thermostat is super sensitive. I don't need a filter that turns itself off every 10 mins for 5 mins at a time. I'm 50/50 on whether to return it or use the feature as a wave maker in the tank. I prefer a high current in my freshwater 125, so this would put a nice kick up every 10 minutes then relax.

Seachem Flourish 250ml

Seachem Flourish 250mlI dose my planted aquaria with Seachem Flourish liquid fertilizer once a week, used in conjunction with Seachem's root plant tabs. The result is lush green plants that look great in contrast to the vivid colors of the tropical fishes I house in my aquariums.

Any fishkeeper worth his or her salt understands the importance of healthy plants in a freshwater aquarium setting. And Seachem's plant tabs and liquid fertilizer are invaluable in helping to keep one's plants healthy.

Highly recommended!

This works for my aquarium. The plants are growing well. It doesn't alter the water chemistry as far as I can tell and it lasts a long time. It's hard to get 20 words to review this product.

Flourite, 7 kg / 15.4 lbs

Flourite, 7 kg / 15.4 lbsSeachem's fluorite is an iron rich, clay, stand-alone substrate. You plant your plants in it immediately, and let 'em grow! It's excellent for both hydroponics and aquariums. You don't need to add any laterite or gravel or anything at all. It works best if it's not mixed with anything else such as soil, peat, or sand (You can of course place a thin layer of decorative gravel of your color choice on top if you wish). It never needs replacing. It's expensive, but you get what you pay for. My plants are lush and

There is one VERY IMPORTANT bit of advice I must impart to everyone reading this: There is one big drawback to this product, and that is you MUST WASH IT. Do NOT skip this step! This stuff has a ton of dirt and sediment caked on it that will clog up and ruin your filters and dirty your water beyond visibility if you don't. This is a real big pain in the rear because you have to use a LOT of water and many rinsings to flush it all out and get it so your water doesn't look like red tea. Be patient! It's very much worth it for the incredible aquascape you will get.

Okay, I just got this stuff and can't yet speak on it's plant growing merits, but I can tell you this stuff is D-I-R-T-Y.

Best cleaned the same way you do sand.

1: Set bag upright on the ground.

2: Cut off the 2 top corners, just big enough for a hose on one side and drainage on the other.

3: Put your hose in one side, I highly recommend doing this outside... in the grass.

4: Try to bunch some of the bag around your hose and a use a cable tie or something to hold that end shut.

5: Run your water. Make sure your hose reaches the bottom of the bag and that the bag will stay upright.

6: Go fix yourself a sandwich, check in 15min, run water until it comes out the top of the other side clear, this may take some time.

And done.

Looks like a nice dark brown in the picture. Even a softer brown would have been ok, but in person looks really light and multi color. Doesn't look natural. Works great, but being that I wanted to recreate a really natural looking river bed, I'm not impressed. Does the job though.

The gravel is beautiful, but you really have to wash it about 10 times to get the silt off it.

But, you ABSOLUTELY MUST NOT USE THIS SUBSTRATE WITH AXOLOTLS (MEXICAN WALKING FISH). The little stones are ~5mm wide far too big for axolotls. I had to buy sand to put on top of the Seachem Flourite so my axolotls don't eat the little stones.

I have this in my aquarium, my first try at a fully planted aquarium, and my plants are doing wonderfully! I do add liquid fertilizer from time to time and have a good deal of lighting but I don't have any nutrient problems. my valsinaria, crypts, rotalla, Echinodorus, water sprite, java moss and hygrophilla (sp. may be a little off on these) are all growing beautifully in this tank. Especially the valsinaria. And i also have a lot of cherry shrimp breeding in the tank, although because of the color they blend in with the soil and they are little hard to see. Overall I am very happy with this soil and would recommend.

I did not rinse mine at first and the tank was VERY cloudy for 24hrs, and was cloudy a little thereafter for a few days, even my filter was coated and I had to replace it, i didn't add any fish for the first week, because I didn't think that kind of cloudiness would be good for their gills. However since then it hasn't been a problem, even when I move a plant around it does get a little stirred up but it isn't a problem, it seems to settle in nicely. The soil is a little rough so I am not sure if it is the best for all fish, but for my schooling fish it is fine.

Universal Rocks 48-Inch by 20-Inch Rocky Flexible Aquarium Background

Universal Rocks 48-Inch by 20-Inch Rocky Flexible Aquarium BackgroundFirst of all, the "clips" that come with the background are just rings of plastic. They were very difficult to force over the edge of my tank and once there, the rubber background easily slid out from under them. In case it isn't clear from the other descriptions, yes, this product is made of rubber, and another interesting thing about it is that it floats. It is in fact *so* flexible that it bows in the middle from trying to float. The packaging says that it can be siliconed in, what they mean is, it *must* be siliconed in. It says that you can keep it in place using clips and gravel. I have three inches of gravel at the bottom of the tank, but after trying to wrestle this thing against the glass for the better part of half an hour, I'd say that I'd need at least 7-8 inches of gravel and several large, heavy rocks to keep it forced back flush with the glass.

So, here's some installation instructions based on real-life use:

#1get some aquarium grade silicone. I don't know how much you're going to need, but guessing by how rippled/pitted the backing is, my guess would be: a lot. I'm also going to need silicone to plug up some holesmine had about 6 pea-sized holes in it, and I don't want my guppies swimming through them and getting trapped behind the background. Speaking of which-

#2don't buy fish until this thing is installed. If you're thinking of installing it in a tank full of water, I hope you have waterproof flooring because it's gonna be messy. Every time I try to push the background back up against the back of the tank, all the water behind rubber sheet takes the path of least resistanceup, out, and onto the floor. Then, the background falls off the edge again as soon as I let go of it. Right now, it's sitting in a slouched mess in my tank as I try to find 55 gallons worth of clean buckets to-

#3drain the tank. You're going to need to take the tank down, empty the decorations and gravel, thoroughly dry it, and lay it on it's back. I haven't gotten this far yet, but I anticipate trouble. My lid had a bar down the middle, so I will need to bend the background to get it laying in the tank, meaning the silicone will need to go between the background and the glass after the background is already in the tank. Then weight the background down so it doesn't move, wait 48 hours for the silicone to cure, rinse the whole thing out (somehow..... the tank is wider than my shower and it's 20 degrees outside.) Not sure where I'm going to put the fish in the meantime, but I'm sure I'll think of something. Gotta say, tearing down, storing, and rebuilding an entire 55 gallon tank is not what I had in mind when I read that it was "easy to install."

In short, if you're sitting in your house with a dry, empty tank, wondering if this would be a good accessory, go for it. It looks pretty good for what it is. If you're looking for a nice background for a tank that already has water and/or fish, I'd give this one a pass.

Edit: altered my review up from two to four stars because, after I drained the tank, filled a spare 10 gallon for the fish, cut the background to shape, siliconed it in place, waited two days for the silicone to cure, and refilled the tank, it looks *spectacular.* It looks like real stone and I'm really happy with it. It's a very hard install, though.

I do recommending using GE silicon 1 or 2 to adhere it to the tank, the clips are only good for probably in a reptile enclosure. It does look good in my 75 gallon aquarium. When I got it I used some large sheers or tin cutters to trim it, then placed it in tank, and on the outside glass I circled where it made contact with the glass so I knew where to put the silicon along with around the edges.

This background was shipped and delivered in great time, received before expected. It came in a humungous box that was quite humerous, but it did protect the background and there were no issues upon arrival. The background was received as described and looks very cool. Cannot wait to give it to my husband for his new fish tank this Christmas.

Got this with the assumption that there would be magnets to attach this to the glass to keep it from moving. It came with only a few little plastic clips which were basically a section of plastic tubing with a slit in it. The background looks great if you can keep it secure. I use driftwood and some rocks to try to keep it pressed up against the back wall of the tank. This would be great if you wanted to silicone it to the tank glass.

Arrived in record time! Ordered it on a Tuesday, received it on Thursday. Came well packaged and as shown in the advertisement. I had been debating buying one of these for a looong time. I had looked at every company that makes them, DIY versions and pretty much every possible route to go for my 75gal. Universal Rocks stood out for me. They are well made, durable and easy to install. The clips provided may seem low-tech, but the idea is to have this panel rest against the back wall, under the lip of the aquarium. I recommend going to Universal Rock's site as they have a whole section on using the clips, installing and placement. I did this while doing a normal H2O change only I completely emptied the tank of decorations and plants. Gravel vac'd thoroughly and installed with my stock of 20 cichlids still in the tank. Scrubbed it completely first and put it in. Sank right out of the box and bent around the center brace with total ease. At first it was approximately 1/4" too tall for the tank. I removed it and using kitchen sheers (very tough and tedious and I would recommend tin snips for the job) I trimmed the bottom of the background. Fits like a glove! Clips went in place no problem and looks awesome! I would not hesitate to purchase anything with Universal Rock's name on it. I contacted them directly with several questions and received excellent, quick responses every time. If you have a particular question that is holding you back from purchasing, ask them and they will resolve any doubts. This really makes me proud of my tank. Looks awesome, is durable and will make any tank a showpiece. Will definitely be purchasing another for my other 55gal tank as well. 100% SATISFIED!!!!
