I use it in my aquariums, and a fountain in my green house. Works well in both!

I have a problem with the water quality here; it's well water that has problems with high phosphate levels. I attribute that to living in a (largely former) agricultural area...phosphate-based fertilizers. The amount of algae varies directly with the phosphate concentration with little-to-no changes in any other ion concentration.

Anyway, this is the only non-copper containing stuff that works well and consistently. With the other stuff that I bought, I might as well have had the fish swimming in pure algaecide.

In my experience, this manufacturer sells a pretty good product line and I don't know why I didn't start with them.

I do have a phosphate sponge in one of the filters and I have live plants, snails and a fair number of monster Discus. Everybody is doing fine after months of treatment.

Yes, months. It takes a lot to keep the algae at bay and I try to watch how much I feed the crew.

This product, applied according to instructions (25 drops/ten gallons or 40 liters of water, killed all of my blue eye forktail rainbow fish, Pseudomugil furcatus, within 18 hours, first the females and then the males. This product simply does not work. I used it for three weeks following the instructions and everything remained the same. I have a 20 gallon tropical aquarium and I instead replaced the substrate after giving up with multiple products. I'm not sure if this works with other forms of algae (mine was green)but i'd be hesitant.

We accidentally did too much of a water change and created an in-balance in our tank due to trying to plan ahead for a vacation. I split them open, dissolve two capsules in 3 cc of liquid and give eachof three cats one cc of suspension, which gives them about 23 mg per cat. It is very small (perfect for the typical nano shrimp tank. Mine happens to be the fluval 5.5 spec) and does provide the large number of shrimp associated with small shrimp tanks a nice food variety among their shrimp pellets and frozen varieties of food.

I will throw in a block as often as once a week, or every other week (dependent on my weekly to bi-weekly water changes). It is important to only feed these blocks right before a water change is due or right after a water change is completed only because once again, with any plaster fed food, when left in the water column, it can get messy and dirty the tank in a relatively short amount of time. My cherry shrimp, orange bee shrimp, and red fire shrimp do enjoy it however and I will continue to offer it to them as a food variety once in a while.

Put one in the tank to see how it worked. It stayed at the surface with its dorsal fin sticking out. My Betta checked it out from every possible angle as soon as it was in the water and went back to his favorite spot laughing all the way. That was good I did not think my Betta could have taken a chunk out of it but did not think one would go down well. It says to have some current or moving water. I do and it soon went to the filter which creates a good current and just floated there. The current went just below so it stayed right there at the filter as if glued. All the other four in the bag were repeats other than my Betta took one glance and just shook his head at them. It looked nice to me (not my Betta) and if it floated about the ten gallon tank at all would have been a nice addition. Stuck in one place it has no attraction and would be just one more thing to clean. Had it sank to around mid level of the tank I think I would have been much pleased with its performance.

Fits the canister well, and traps a lot of very small particles. Instructions should note that the capped end of the black tube (which is part of the filter and does not come with the replacement foam block) fits into the bottom of the sponge and that the open end of the same tube inserts into the pump opening in the top of the unit. This will force the water through the filter instead of allowing it to go around the filter instead. So, if you're using this foam block and find the water isn't quite as clean as you'd like, check to ensure the tube is in position properly and securely.

I have a 120-gallon freshwater aquarium with a few large shubunkins and a mix of artificial and live plants. The aquarium was lit by a pair of 24" 8000k fluorescents in separate 30" hoods, set end-to-end over the length of the 5-foot long tank. I purchased a pair of these ZooMed Coral Sun Actinic bulbs primarily to provide some supplemental lighting for the plants. I installed them in an additional pair of 30" hoods. The addition of the blue light output from the ZooMed bulbs to the existing 8000K fluorescents, really made a difference in the overall color balance. The gravel and plants took on a more natural, less yellowish look and the colors of the fish were also enhanced. So, in addition to helping the plants, the aesthetics were much improved as well. In the evening, I shut down the 8000K bulbs and just leave the actinics on for awhile before turning everything off for the night. The ZooMed actinics provide a cool moonlight effect when used by themselves. Great product and highly recommended for my application.

I purchased this product at Petsmart the other day after reading all the comments. I know that the design should be working so I bought is for my aquarium. This product DOES work, and will stick on very tightly. The problem would be the method of setting this item up; you should hydrolyse it first in water then push it against the glass ABOVE the water, not in water, which means there will be a bubble in the middle of the suction cup. Then move it down under the water surface to the place you want. It will stick to the glass even tighter after a while and hard to be moved again.

The reason of these methods is due to the function of the suction cup. The suction cup is designed for using the atmospheric pressure to push the cup towards the glass tightly, since the atmospheric pressure will be greater than the air in the cup, so a small bubble is required in the middle. If you set this item in the water without any air in the middle, the section cup will lose its function because when you press it in the water, the internal water pressure will almost equals to external water pressure, due to the properties of liquid, which is harder to be depressurised.

I hope this will explain the reason some people thought this item wont work. Moreover, Betta fish does also rest on it :)

I bought this item almost as a joke, because seriously... a giant plastic leaf? My betta ignored it for three days and then flung himself on it. As I type, he's laying sprawled across it looking as deliriously happy as it's possible for a fish to look. Highly recommend.

Oh, and in reference to all the negative reviews stating that the leaf pops off -there must have been a redesign. My leaf stays put, and the suction cup seems to be working just fine as well (fingers crossed).

so, i see many reviews of people saying that the leaf doesn't stay in the suction cup. my belief is that you're just not pushing it hard enough into the suction cup. it's not as easy as most people say it is or should be, i had to push it in very hard, but once you get the stem of the leaf into the hole of the suction cup, it appears to be just stuck in there. i doubt you would be able to take it out. i have it my 2.5 gallon tank for my betta, he loves it. he chills on it during the day when he's bored, and sleeps on it at night.

the only thing i do not like it about it, is that there is a metal wire in the leaf, and if you bend it (or maybe even if you don't) the wire sticks out. it will eventually rust, plus it could cut your fish, so i bought some aquarium sealant (non-toxic to fish, $6 at petsmart) and covered the wire with it. i waited about 3 days for it to dry, and i put it back in. so, now it's safe, and my betta loves it. (: i've also heard you can take the wire out, and it's fine like that too.

i bought this leaf at petsmart about 2 months ago, and only for about $2.30, so it's cheaper. i think it's worth it, if you have the time to fiddle with it, and if you assemble it right. i say give it a try. (:

ALSO, if you put it in your tank and your betta doesn't seem interested, try feeding them over it over the course of a few days. it helps them realize to use it, but if s/he still doesn't use it, then s/he's just not interested. it does depend on your betta's personality, but at less than $3 at petsmart, i say it's not that much of a waste if your betta doesn't use it.

When I first put the leaf in my tank my Betta puffed his gills like he saw and intruder. After a few minutes he began to explore around it. It didn't take him very long at all to figure out what it's purpose was. The day after I bought it I looked at his tank and he liked it so much that he started to form his very first bubble nest right underneath it. I highly recommend the Betta Leaf Hammock. This heater is excellent it only raises the temperature 5 to 10 degrees which is perfect for this size tank. I have a one gallon fish bowl and there arent really any heaters made for that size. So because this heater is made for heating tanks up to several gallons, the water temperature of bowl needs to be monitored at all times if using a bowl as small as mine. Otherwise the water will get too hot for your fish. I usually plug mine in in the morning for a bit and then take it out when the temp is around 80, and I plug it in a bit before I go to bed and unplug it for overnight.

This works well for a 3 gallon half-moon and keep it at 78 in a 72 degree room.....I read a lot of reviews on here, but never could get this information specifically,so I am putting it here for others. Fits nicely under the gravel. Fish a bit afraid, but it does the job. I also cleared a little gravel away from the top of it so it helps radiate more heat. Heavy, thick gravel may make it function a little lighter, in my opinion, but you can assemble a safe pile of gravel on top.

Fluval C4 Poly Foam Pad - 3-Pack

These foam pads are great mechanical filtration in the Fluval C series. They tend to get gunked up and need rinsings, but nothing out of the ordinary. The fine mesh side doesn't hold up too well to frequent rinsings, and it can be hard to rinse these out really well (especially inbetween the fine pad and the corse pad). Though these are much better than having to buy those marineland filter cartridges. You don't really have to buy these, as you could just rip off the fine meshed side of your old one and replace with some poly batting. But I like to have some extras on hand incase I want to use them.

I have been using this particular brand of filter pads for a while now, about 2 years for this model of C4. My previous filters were canister style but they were too much hassle and commitment after having multiple back surgeries, I now use only H.O.B/Hang On Back type of filters, so that they are much easier to maintain regularly.

These pads are the double-sided style, consisting of a foam side and the other being a poly material. I do not use the foam only type, as I have somewhat smaller sized fish, I would consider the foam only to be better suited for much larger fish, etc.

This filter works great!!! Couldn't be more happy with it. My water stays crystal clear, and its the most quiet pump I've seen. The first couple days it made some noise but I lubed it with vegtable oil, and that did the trick. Watch some video's on UTube about it, they are very informative. Love this filter.

Before I bought these feeders I noticed the reviews were all over the place. Some people loved them while others came home to find their fish had died. So I bought them and decided to try one out before I left for vacation. I'm very glad I did because nothing happened. While it seemed to be dissolving I couldn't see any type of food being distributed. My Beta did not have a clue as to how to eat from it because he normally chases food from the top. He doesn't forage on the bottom of the tank. After 3 days I decided to take it out of the tank and use a mechanical feeder. I think if I had just dropped it in the tank and gone on vacation I too may have come home to a dead fish. They seem worthless to me.

I bought these at a local aquarium shop to feed my bettas when I go on vacation in a couple months. I had to test it out before relying on it, so I put one of these in each of 10 betta vases.

After three days these things hadn't started to dissolve. So, I fed the bettas a little of their regular food figuring that when I am going to leave on vacation, I could drop these in a few days ahead, giving the tablets time to start working.

After another day on this trial run, I did notice the tablets starting to dissolve. I hoped the fish would eat it... But there was no sign of any of the stuff being eaten. The tablets disolved at different rates. Of the ten, a couple of them didn't seem to dissolve much at all in a week. One of my ten bettas died on the sixth day. Another looked very weak, and even after another week of normal care hasn't recovered to normal.

If I don't come up with a better solution before vacation, I will just feed them twice a day, rather than once a day for a couple days before leaving, then give them one last big feeding as I leave the house. I'll still drop these tablets in with them in case they will decide to eat some of it.

Once these things do dissolve, it just looks like colored slime on the battom of the bowl. I definitely will not buy again.

I have used the Tetra Whisper filters on many different tanks for many years. I was quite sad to see them

I had a good experience with the whisper 60 and the whispser 20. but for some reason the whisper 40 is so loud.... it started off quiet for about a month and i was happy(not to mention i could save some money) . but as soon as i took it out to clean the tubes and impeller. booom louder and louder it got(i went thru 3 of these) . i cleaned them up and returned them all. DO NOT BUY THE 40 FOR SOME REASON THEY CANT GET IT RIGHT... I purchased the marineland emperor 280 power filter(it was 15 dollars more)but well spent and well made. its so quiet i only hear my air pump. sorry whisper. but u should revamp the 40 gallon powerfilter. its junk...

This is by far the noisiest filter I have ever heard. Gave it one star because I had to give it something. Have no idea how it filters because I couldn't stand the droning noise for more than half an hour. My fish tank is in a semi-enclosed area where the noise echoes out into the room. My job requires me to transcribe work using ear phones. Could not hear with this going. Hopefully I can get my money back. Bought it replace a Top Fin because I couldn't find a replacement for the strainer end. The much quieter Top Fin is back in place with a temporary strainer.

Coralife 54332 Actinic Straight Pin Compact Fluorescent Lamp, 24-Watt

I have an 8 and a 14G Biocube both salt and I love both of them. The lights 10,000k and Actinic 420 actually last awhile I had the same bulbs for a year I got new one's your really supposed to change them about every 6-7 months for proper coral growth. NO BS whithin the first 3 hours everything opened up and has grown tremendously in the past 3 weeks now. You might complain about the price but for what they do and how long they last their 100% worth it.

We have a 14 gallon nano tank and needed replacement lights. The fish stores charge way too much for the same product. Arrived quickly and was well packaged so no breakage. Works great!

Standard Replacement bulb. Put it in to replace a blown bulb, it worked. The last one of these I had from a LFS I paid $25 for and it only lasted 4 months at 12 hours a day on. I dont know if I got a bad bulb or maybe the life span on these is kind of low. either way when I got this one for $15 How can I complain.
