Sporn Nylon Non Pulling Dog Harness, Large/X-Large, Red

Sporn Nylon Non Pulling Dog Harness, Large/X-Large, RedI got this and was excited to use it. I put it on my boxadore. Which was not easy to put on him. once it was on my two year old boxadore we went for a quick walk around the block. It didn't work as well as it says. The nylon ripped right in half, and he wasn't even really pulling hard that time. It was helping him not pull as much with in the first 5 minutes he was using it before it ripped. This isn't made to last strong muscular dogs like boxers. I duck taped the straps back together with black duck tape and layered it strong. Now it works again. He still pulls when my husband takes him for a walk, but it does hellp some.

This is a nicely made harness, other than the sherpa slipping out from under my dog's armpits, as noted in other reviews of other sizes. That could be fixed with a few stitches. However, even without the sherpa (so the rope would be harsher against the tender armpit skin) this does NOTHING to reduce my dog's pulling. He is trained to walk on a slack leash next to me, but is dog reactive on leash and has pulled me over lunging at other dogs. He's an 85-pound Boxer and Ridgeback mix. I know to keep a safe distance and can focus him into a sit/stay if I see one coming, but sometimes one walks unexpectedly around a corner. That's why I got this harness, but it is totally ineffective, as is every other anti-pull harness I've tried. This one at least I have a little bit of control, unlike the ones that have the leash attachment in the front, but the ring for attaching the leash is at the end of the rope loop, so even walking him using my leash's handle which is next to the leash clip, I am still a foot farther away from him than on a regular collar I use a martingale collar so he won't slip away. Oh well! I'll donate it to a rescue, its not a bad harness for a dog that doesn't pull.

It didn't work for the 75 lb. female -

But it's working great for the 40 pounder.

Definitely diminishes the pulling.

Easy to put on fully adjustable love that the sherpa is included to prevent cutting in the "armpit" keeps you off the dog's neck while giving control

I read the reviews and bought one. My german shepherd mix just wouldn't respond to it like I had hoped. She pulled like mad and I had to go back to the Gentle Leader...I did buy the SPorn Head Halter though and it works perfectly for my girl! Better than the Gentle Leader...

Ultralife Reef ProduCounts AULXTERM X-Terminator Mantis Shrimp Trap

Ultralife Reef ProduCounts AULXTERM X-Terminator Mantis Shrimp TrapThis could be a nice trap if they had a functional QA system to inspect the product before it ships to the customer. OK, so I receive my first Mantis trap and the trap door spring is broken into pieces with no damage to the box, which means it left the factory that way. I returnd it and received my replacement trap by mail and noticed I cannot set the trap because the trap door was not trimmed properly and sticks open. I did not want to send another one back and have to wait again so I took a razor blade and trimmed the excess junk plastic off of the trap door and finnally got it to work. I placed it into the tank and noticed in just a few days that the trap door spring was already starting to rust. I had a few different pests to capture so, I had to leave it in the tank for 2 weeks. The only good news is it did catch crabs, fish, snails etc. By the end of the 2 weeks the spring was rusted very badly. They should have made the spring out of corosion resistant steel since it is desighed for a salt water tank instead of using very low quality cheap junk metal. Keep in mind it is also possible to contaminate your water with the rusted metal biproducts and chemicals leached into your tank from the quickly disintegrating metal spring. This could be especially toxic to a small nano reef tank. I took the trap out of the tank and thoroughly rinsed off the salt water and immediatly dried it off to try and mimumize corosion. I stored it for 2 months and when I took it out of the box to reuse it the junk metal spring had rusted so badly it had crumbled into pieces, rendering the trap useless! If you purchase this trap realize it is so poorly manufactured that it will only last you one use and into the trash it will go. Hopefully it will catch the pest before it falls apart and poisions you reef tank. I would not recommend this waste of money to anyone! Thanks for listening.

Don from Minnesota, 13 year reef tank owner.

After two months of trying to catch the little booger with a home made bottle trap and a store loaned "tube" trap, I broke down and ordered this thing. I have my live rock zip tied together with corals on it, so I didn't want to break it apart. I had see the shrimp in the other two traps only once and he squirted out like it was nothing before I could even get to the string to haul his little butt out of there. With this trap, I caught him the second day I tried it (the first day I had not set the sensitivity low enough). After two months of trying, two days later I had him! Woohoo!

The nice features of this trap is that it is tinted which makes the little guy not so shy about going in, but you can still see into it to know if he is there or your bait s still in there. The pressure release is adjustable and simple to operate. The door snaps shut once he is inside and locks the little guy in. It also holds water so it doesn't drain when you pull it out. Unlike other reviewers, my trap came in without issues, even though it was just put in a padded envelope and tossed in the mail. So, I am THRILLED with this trap!

The bad news.... I'm still hearing snapping. :( Glad the trap is re-useable.

Had gotten some new live rock for my reef tank and guess what? Yep a mantis shrimp came along eating my critters, so I tried this and by golly it worked! I took a little piece of fish and put the trap in the tank and the varmint was in there. Just make sure you rinse the trap several time to get the salt of and it won't corrode. At least mine haven't.

it's definitely a cool idea, didn't really work for my nano though, my crabs/shrimp avoid it like the plague and my peppermint strolls in there and steals whatever food i have put in there.... :(

JW Pet Company Aquarium Decor Cleaning Brush

JW Pet Company Aquarium Decor Cleaning BrushThis brush is handy for cleaning and does just what it should. I use it on the bridge type structures of my tank, anything poly-resin it would probably do fine on. You don't need to scrub with it a simply one way brushing motion has worked well for me. It's a handy size, ergonomic, stores right in my maintenance bucket. Oh and the price was right too!

AquaClear 110 Zeo-Carb Insert

AquaClear 110 Zeo-Carb InsertI have a 55 gallon tank and usually alternate between putting carbon filters in my filtration system and zeolyte filters. The carbon reduces impurities/smells in your water, and the zeolyte reduces ammonia; I didn't like having to pick between which filter I wanted to use because both were beneficial for different things. I am so happy that this product has found a way to bring all the qualities of both filters together; I no longer have to choose between them!

I really like this filter product, it has worked great for many of years and I hope I can continue to use it for many more.

Como Blue Purple Artificial Coral Float Grass Water Plant Aquarium Ornament

Como Blue Purple Artificial Coral Float Grass Water Plant Aquarium OrnamentGreat price and the colors look great in my Biube. The plastic is a bit rigid so I was a little worried about my fish getting scratched up; but no problems so far. And my snail loves hanging out on this plant (I guess it supports his weight better than the others).

Kent Marine 00616 35-Inch Pro-Scraper with Stainless Steel Blade

Kent Marine 00616 35-Inch Pro-Scraper with Stainless Steel BladeWe have a problem with stubborn hair algea and this scraper worked great. We could scrub it and scrub it with the magnet kinds and it would get stuck in it and you'd do the same spot over and over again. This scraper knocked it out in no time. Extra long length makes it a breeze getting down the sides of tall 90 gallon. Will most likely buy a backup!

When they say 35", they mean it. Terrifically long, and able to easily scrape all of the glass on my 55 gallon without ever getting my hands wet. Truthfully, I think this might be overkill for a tank that's 24" high, but I'm very happy with this nonetheless. I have one of the short scrapers that uses the same blades, and although they do last a while, they are not permanent and you should expect to replace them every once so often (the edges tend to bend over time depending on how vigorously you scrape). Pretty happy with it.

Marina I25 Internal Filter

Marina I25 Internal FilterIt's a nice little filter, works well with low flow. I have it in a betta tank and it gets the water circulated without pushing the betta around. The reason I gave it 4 stars is because I wish there were more options for filter cartridges. Once a tank is cycled, you shouldn't remove or replace the filter media or you will cause the tank to cycle again, which can kill fish. This filter only has cartridges that have a teensy bio sponge, then a compartment for carbon, and another compartment for ammonia absorbing media. Once a tank is cycled, there's no need for carbon or ammonia absoribing media, and these two things stop working after a week or two and need to be replaced anyway. To solve this problem, I took some cut-to-fit filter floss and used fishing line to "sew" it into a pillow the same size as the cartridge, then stuffed it with bio beads and sewed it closed. It fits into the filter and doesn't obstruct the flow and I can use it for years with nothing more than a swish in a bucket of conditioned water.

I installed this filter yesterday afternoon in my 2 gallon betta tank with a brand new fish. This unit is easy to install, disassemble and clean. It is so small that it should fit easily in any size aquarium that has at least one flat side. It appears to be working great so far. It is powerful, but gentle and nearly silent. I placed a weighted silk plant in front of the intake to break up the current just a bit. My new betta (Wavy) is quite small (

Micro Temp Controller Heater Controller (Mfg# AZ12037)

Micro Temp Controller Heater ControllerI bought one of these to control two heaters in my 55 gal. discus tank. At higher temps. it is inaccurate. This is only a minor problem after you recognize what it needs to be set at to get what you want. Another problem I had was that the instructions are pretty much useless. The temp. adjustment (through a small hole in the back) is difficult to set accurately. The setting display presents temperatures in degrees Fahrenheit without any decimals as it says in the manual. The readout normally displays degrees Celsius.

The really serious problem occurred this week. We had a brief power outage. When the electricity came back it had reset to a default setting of 78 degrees (too cold for discus). By the time I checked it in the morning, the temp. had fallen from 87 degrees to around 77 degrees. The fish were stressed, but fortunately looked better after a couple of days.

The idea of having a common controller for multiple heaters is an excellent one. I just wish this one worked better.

Update: It quit working completely after about a month. I returned it and got my money back.

Marineland Eclipse Seamless Integrated Aquarium System, 5 Gallons, Corner

Marineland Eclipse Seamless Integrated Aquarium System, 5 Gallons, CornerI have owned this aquarium for 3 years now. It looks great sitting on my kitchen counter. I could have been more consistent about cleaning the system (about 1x a month), but generally speaking the fish have thrived. Several mistakes I made include: 1) thinking that the bio-wheel needs to be occasionally replaced (don't go there) 2) leaving the light on too much which created an algae bloom, and 3) buying fish that outgrow this small aquarium. I made those mistakes in the first year. Since then it has been smooth sailing except for the light fixture burning out. The light switch is pretty cheap, so repeated use caused it to break. I rigged up another lighting system since I was not able to order a replacement part except for the whole lid unit (which costs as much as the aquarium), but it is not very satisfactory. I am breaking down and buying another aquarium just to get a functioning light. This time I am going to hook up the light to a timer and avoid overusing the switch.

This tank was purchased as an upgrade for my betta. I decided to send this tank set back almost immediately because I found the quality and design of the tank to be pretty disappointing...especially coming form Marineland. First off, the acrylic tank body scratches incredibly easily, especially compared to my other acrylic set by a different manufacturer. Even the foam packing material didn't appear to protect it well. The top and bottom of the tank were both lined with obvious scratches right out of the box! The filter that came with the set is made of flimsy plastic and doesn't sit well in the compartment designated for it. Nearly every time I opened the lid, the filtration system popped up because the cords got stuck in the hinge. The cords from the filter and light have to fit through a really narrow opening near the hinge of the tank. The tank comes with a clip to hold these, but it really doesn't help much. To add a heater, you must carefully thread the cord through a small hole on the opposite side of the lid and drop the heater through a narrow opening in the plastic that supports the filtration system, which is a real pain should you need to adjust the temperature or remove the filter for any reason. As for the lid, I don't understand why they didn't include a little feeding door like many other systems do. It is a hassle to open the entire top (especially if you are limited on space above or behind the tank) just to dump in some flakes. I did like the tank's aesthetics and corner shape when it arrived, and the quality of lightbulb included, but thats about it honestly. In my opinion, there are better tank sets to choose from...particularly if you are shopping for a Betta.

This is by far the best aquarium kit i've used so far. Ive had it for around 1 month already. The filter and bio wheel do the job with keeping the water clear and ammonia levels close to non-existant, respectively. Fish seem very happy and healthy. I was so pleased with this tank, i bought another one!

Read Best Reviews of Marineland Eclipse Seamless Integrated Aquarium System, 5 Gallons, Corner Here

I've had this tank for 6 months now, and it's on the kitchen counter (in a corner) with 5 male guppies in it (one inch of fish per gallon) and have a couple of plants also. I set it up quickly and easily, and haven't had any problems with scratches. The light is bright enough to keep the 2 plants healthy as long as I planted them directly under the light which is near the front of the tank. The bio wheel is perfect-just don't rinse it, replace it, or let it dry out-ever. I thoroughly rinse the carbon filter every Saturday with tap water and replace it every month. 1/2 gallon water change every Sat. too (via a tank vacuum to churn up the rocks a bit-while avoiding plant roots). It's a 20 min. job.

The only thing I don't like about it is the lid isn't well designed for a kitchen counter with overhead cabinets. I wish the lid was a hinged 2 piece! I can't open it fully on the kitchen counter-even when I pull the whole tank to the counter's edge. (Or, at least they should put an adjustable prop up stick in it. So, I have to unplug everything and take the whole lid off-which is a bit tricky in the kitchen and annoying. They could have put more effort into cord management, too. The cords get pinched in the lid if you don't carefully guide them thru the small holes. My 5 gal dream tank would have those retractable cord roller-upper things in the lid.

But, it looks nice, and the fish & plants are happy.

I have owned this tank for three years now. I originally purchased this tank based on my experience with several of the large Marineland tanks which were phenomenal. The 5-gal system is nice when working, the bio-wheel is unbeatable when it comes to keeping the water conditioned. My three most recurring annoyances which will prevent me from purchasing this same tank to replace mine which has died now:

1) The ballast on the light overheats and melts the plastic casing causing a bad smell and concern re: shorting. Marineland replaced once as a defective part, but the replacement had the same problem, and could not be replaced again because of warranty limitations.

2) The acrylic tank is packed into its box without protections, which means it comes out of the box scuffed up, which can never be fixed.

3) As other reviews have pointed out, the lack of a feeding lid is VERY annoying. There is a hinged access lid, but it opens up to the filer, not the water surface.

Sad that Marineland ditched its usual quality on this system.

SeaClear Rectangular Aquarium Combo (Blue)

SeaClear Rectangular Aquarium ComboPurchased this combo on Jan 14, 2009. The aquarium arrived within a week and was scratch free. It looks quite nice with rounded front corners. Bought a fluorescent lamp for the included hood but it would not light. Called the manufacturer (Casco Group) of the hood and was told they were having trouble with the ballast on some of these hoods and they would ship a new ballast right away. Two weeks later it had not arrived so we called again and got a different Customer Service Rep. Was told they were very sorry and a NEW HOOD would be sent out immediately. The next day 2 new ballasts arrived. Neither worked. We are now one month out and I do not have a light for the aquarium. Overall the set up looks fine, the size is neither too big nor too small, but without a light I am missing a part of the experience. We have called twice since being told the new hood was being shipped and can only leave voice mails. I will attempt to return just the hood to Petco this week and see if they can help secure a working replacement. Had the light worked from the outset I would rate this combo with 5 stars.
