Jardin Aquarium Fish Tank Cylinder Bubble Air Stones, 2-Piece, Blue

Jardin Aquarium Fish Tank Cylinder Bubble Air Stones, 2-Piece, BlueI haven't used these for the purpose I intended yet, but just testing them out shows they will be adequate.

These things will allow a ton of air through at a reasonable small bubble size, these are obviously no misters.

All in all seems like a good product, not much else to say, they are just air stones.

Seachem The Bag Filter Media Bag

Seachem The Bag Filter Media BagI just received "The Bag" 5x10" resealable media bag. I'm using it to hold Purigen, and it's going in my Brand new Fluval Fx5. Everything is great, The bag seems durable and none of the purigen spills out. Water flows through it rather easily too. My only complaint is in the description, both on the site, and on the box for the back it says, "...comes with a convenient resealable locking closure." I read this as it has a "Zip Loc" Type enclosure. Probably much more durable and strong. When I Opened it, it's even better. It has a reusable Zip-Tie. I'd never seen a reusable zip-tie before this product and It's really neat. Infact I want some just for my computer cords, and other organizational needs It'd be much easier than regular zip ties. lol

On the other hand I would -notuse this media Bag to hold other types of media, it's just overkill. You only need this bag if you are planning on using Purigen in it.

The best filter media bags I've come across in over 30 years. As a long time fan of Seachem products, it didn't surprise me that they would develop a media bag that surpasses all others. The fundamental problem with most filter bags is that the sides are stitched, this means that over time the acidic elements in the aquarium water along with the constant water pressure, especially in canister filters can result in burst seams.

Another problem being the sting type closures. These closures are usually cotton or a cotton and synthetic mix. The closure will break down at some point depending upon the water parameters in your tank. These bags are inexpensive and can be replaced but who really wants the extra burden of opening up your filter to check and or replace a media bag?

The media bag by Seachem is a 180 micro mesh with welded seams, these seams can last for decades the possible way they would burst is if you over fill the bag with far too much media. As for the closure, it's water safe plastic, which once locked in place isn't going to pop open and blast media into your filter and all over your tank.

Another benefit of "The Bag" is that it's immune to recharging media with bleach as you can do with Purigen one of the most advanced filtration media on the market today.Any other media bag would never hold up.The one complaint I have and this has to more with the Marketing of Purigen itself rather than the bag. Is that Seachem should do a better job making it clear that you must use at least a micro mesh of 180.

To use a wider mesh you'll end up with any very fine media such as Diatomaceous earth or Purigen pouring out of it like flour through a sieve.Yes, at $14.95 it's expensive, but if you take good care of it you'll never have to replace it. To find it here on Amazon for a mere $8.13 is an absolute steal. Considering how long this product will last it pays for itself, many times over.

I use them in all my filters and would recommend them to any hobbyist.

Buy Seachem The Bag Filter Media Bag Now

Seachem's purigen is so fine it is hard to find a filter bag it will work with. This one is well-built, comes with a decent tie, and is around the same price as other bags that don't tend to do the job as well.

combined with Seachem Purigen, my tank has been much more stable and therefore easier to clean, Not as worried about crashing the nitro-cycle.

Loving Pets Dolce Dish Dog Bowl, Small, 1 Pint, Pesto

Loving Pets Dolce Dish Dog Bowl, Small, 1 Pint, PestoBought two of these for my two puppies. The stainless steel bowls are removable from the plastic base for easy washing. The bowls are pretty study. The colors are pretty true to the photo. The brown paw and bone prints are a lighter shade of brown than shown in the photo, but still look very nice.

I bought these to replace my previous set which had a similar style. I wanted something which held the same size stainless steel bowl (the bowl size is about 5" at the top with the lip and about 3.75" at the bottom). I assumed these were either metal like my previous set (which rusted) or ceramic (could break). I was very happy when I received them and they're plastic! But if any guests come to the house, they LOOK ceramic. They also have a rubber ring at the base to prevent slippage. I really like the color, too.

I love the design of this bowl, but unfortunately it was too big for my 3lb morkie. I wish it would come in smaller sizes.

This is a good dog bowl. If you wash the outside in the dishwasher too many times, the paw prints do rub off. Overall it does the job.

Fluval Power Filter

Fluval C4 Power FilterI purchased the Fluval C4 about 3 months ago. Thus far it has kept my water absolutely crystal clear.

Overall: I'm very impressed and very pleased with this HOB filter. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a nice all-in-one filter with easy maintenance.

Here's a list of some nice features:

-Better use of the space available in the filter box compared to other HOBs Many other HOBs have dead space where there isn't any type of filtration happening. This filter has been effectively designed to allow maximum filtration in the space provided.

-Very nice all-in-one filter Mechanical, chemical, and biological filtration all efficiently incorporated into the filter box. The trickle chamber with ceramic media makes this one of the best biological HOBs out there.

-Still customizable Many people don't use carbon in their filters. The carbon slot is large and can be replaced with just about anything (e.g. more mechanical filter pads or extra biological media).

-Quality design & Easy maintenance All of the components fit snugly together, and it is very easy to remove and replace different compartments of the filter for cleaning.

-Cleaning indicator The filter has a built in cleaning indicator that pops up when the filter pads have become clogged causing the water level in front of the filter pads to raise.

-Flow regulator The flow regulator actually works! I've had many HOBs where the flow regulator is very crude and imprecise. The flow regulator on the C4 is VERY precise and easy to adjust.

-Extremely quiet

-Intake tube height is very easy to adjust Simply push up or pull down to get the intake exactly where you want it. No more adding or removing intake tube segments.

-The intake tube is black, and the filter is dark grey, which is much more aesthetically pleasing

Leave about 4" between the back of your aquarium and the wall to fit this filter on the back.

Hope this helped!

***UPDATE: 1/2/13***

I've had this filter running for 2 years now 24/7 and my above comments still hold true. I would buy this filter again if I was in the market for one.

It appears that there are several 1 star reviews on this filter now, the majority of which are due to the filter being broken upon arrival. Apparently the poor packaging makes these filters prone to breaking during delivery. It seems that most people get a product they are happy with, and an unfortunate few get a broken/defective product. Amazon has a great return policy and this should hopefully be resolved for any of those who receive a defective product.

the fluval c3 is a nice filter, as mentioned by many others, but i have a few issues with mine that i would like to point out. I had currently been using a whisper 20-40 on a 29 gallon, which was doing the trick, but wanted better filtration. the 5 stage c3 caught my eye, and it definitely is a unique filter all its own. here is a list of pros and cons i have made from my observations. please take note that these are based off of the filter i received:

first the pros.

5 stage filtration. 2 mechanical, i chemcial, 2 biological.

impressive design for a hob style filter.

filter rinse indicator on top of filter (mechanical section) which tells you when its time to rinse/change.

pulls apart easily for cleaning.

motor comes off for replacement(if you ever need to.)

in opposition to many other reviews, it is very quiet.

good craftsmanship, constructed nicely.

the concept of not changing all filter media at once is beneficial, and allows a more stable colonization on filter media.

then the cons.

maintenance. i seem to have to rinse the filter pad every 4 days or so. since so much is packed into such a tight space, be prepared to clean this one quite frequently.

the motor sometimes will not start up. i did however find a fix for this. stick a q-tip into the impeller to "jump start" it. not too big of a deal, but i would like it to start when i plug it in.

none of my local fish shops sell replacement filters for this model. i have to purchase them online, which is not a big deal if i order them ahead of time.

i started the whisper back up to over filter my 29, because i keep it busy (well stocked.) using the whisper has reduced time between maintenance on the c3, but it still likes to get dirty fast. the filter is nice, but im not sure i would buy another one due to the issues i have with mine.

I really love this HOB filter. Some may argue but I think this is the upgraded Aquaclear. They use the same motors as the Aquaclears and have redesigned the internals as well as the external look of the filter. They really thought this HOB filter design thorougly. It is much sleeker and attractive than the older Aquaclears as you can obviously see, but works as well or better in my opinion.

Everything is designed with ease of maintenance and performance in mind. To clean it is incredibly easy. Each compartment of filtration is seperate and can be taken out easily as needed for maintenace. You don't even have to turn off the filter to maintain it. If you want to clean the mechanical sponge (the only thing I clean really) it's as simple as pulling up the back compartment which is seperate from the other compartments. Unlike the Aquaclear which you have to take out everything on top of the sponge first to get to the sponge which needs the most frequent rinsings. This makes for much easier regular maintenance than the Aquaclear.

The mechanical filtration on this filter is also upgraded from the Aquaclears. The sponge has a material similar to the Aquaclear's sponge but now also has a tweak/improvment made to catch the tiny particles that float around in your tank. It is a two part sponge fused together which is a coarse sponge with a material similar to polyfil batting attached into one. The mechanical filtration even has a indicator that pops up when the sponge needs rinsing.

If you choose to use carbon (I don't I filled that compartment with more biomedia) you just lift out the integrated wet dry and pull out the basket that holds the carbon and replace. Drop the basket that holds the carbon back in and put the wet/dry system back on top it's super easy.

Now we get to the integrated wet dry system. The wet dry system needs the least cleaning and no replacement. The only part that could use a rinse once in a while is the pad on top that keeps detrius out. Maybe once every six months to a year you could lighly rinse the biomedia in the integrated wet dry. This is what makes the system AWESOME. It is the first true integrated wet dry system on a HOB filter! It works amazingly for biological filtration and can even be used effectively to reduce nitrates with Seachems denitrate! To me this is the best and most ingenious part of this filter.

The Fluval C series also has an adjustable intake tube that adjusts to any height you want without having to deal with extensions that you may have to cut to the right length or add on in specific increments. I have to add how QUIET it is. It is SILENT. Well... at first it was a little noisy. Nothing unbearable or out of the ordinary with Hagen HOB's. Though after lubing up the shaft of the impeller with a little fish safe silicone lubricant or even vaseline it is incredibly quiet.

I would not consider the dependability a factor/problem as they use the same motors as Aquaclears which have a reputation for reliablility. The only complaint I have is that they don't make it in a larger size that could be comparable to the Aquaclear 110. If they made a Fluval C5 model I would be all over it! I definitely recommend this filter for all of you looking for a great (the best) smaller HOB filter on the market today. For larger tanks though I would still have to go with the Aquaclear 110 for its power. Buy it, set it up, lube the shaft (for quietness), and let it do its job. You won't regret it. There is a great and complete review on Youtube for those who need a little more convincing and are seriously looking to buy one of these awesome filters.

I've used many power filters and canister filters in the past and was really looking forward to adding the Fluval C2 to my small 10.5 gallon heavily planted aquarium. I've tried many AC (AquaClear) power filters in the past and they were my go-to, but after discovering Fluval had their own offering I had to try it.

Since my tank is heavily planted, I did not use the carbon filter. Why? Because plants need carbon dioxide. With that said, if you don't use the carbon filter you basically have one step before you're ready to put it on your tank. Just rinse the whole thing and put the biological things into its basket. It's really a piece of cake. I added one extra step a few days after installing it and that was since I wasn't using the carbon filter I decide to open that bag up, dump the black stuff in the trash, heavily rinse it, and then put in my own biological substrates into it. I used my Eheim substrate and plopped it into the bag and voila, even more biological filtration!

Pros of the Fluval C2:

1. Awesome design with the water trickle and the whole removable cartridges for quick cleaning. The telescope design for the intake is really neat and something I've never seen before. This way you can get the exact height you want. The plastic parts of the filter also seem durable and strong unlike others I've tried.

2. Very flexible. As I mentioned, there's a whole extra compartment (if you're using the carbon filter which I recommend against... sure it makes things pretty but I recommend growing plants in your tank because they add a whole new element and are great for the fish and water quality) and you can add in your own substrate into that area. You can even opt to use your own substrate in the little biological basket instead of the ones they give you. If you want, you can use your own sponges and stuff for the mechanical filtration but I think the one they give will last a long time if you just rinse it. I also use a pre-filter (Fluval's own pre-filter sponge they sell for their Edge lineup) because I have Red Crystal shrimp and I don't want any babies to get sucked into the filter. The pre-filter I recommend because it'll prevent the gross things to go in the filter, but will also be trapped to the side of the pre-filter (giving fish and shrimp something to nibble at).

3. The water flow is very good and you can control it. I am using the C2 on a small 10.5 gallon tank filled with glowlight tetras and red crystal shrimps and I like to put the water flow to max during the day, then move it over to lowest when their lights go off. The extra flow I noticed make the fish more active (possibly more oxygen going through their gills?)

Cons of the Fluval C2 (the one caveat; read this if you get a noisy one!)

1. When I first got the filter I was pissed because it was indeed noisy. You could hear the movements of the spinning motor and I thought this thing was a piece of garbage. After 2 days of running it and listening to it (I keep my tank on my desk at my work so I sit next to it) I figured it would never be quieter and did some research online. Turns out this has happened to others. The solution? Lube up the motor parts! How? I used regular Vaseline (bought the travel size at my grocery store). Unplug and take apart the filter at a sink and have a bucket/large-cup handy. When you separate the motor from the rest of the filter you can remove the metal spinning thing. I went ahead and put a thin layer of Vaseline on the surface of that, but it was probably not necessary. The main culprit you want to lube up is the thin metal needle it attaches to. You could use a Q-Tip or thinly rolled up paper towel to get Vaseline around it. I also put Vaseline at the hole of the larger metal thing (the one you took off) and so when it was inserted into the needle the extra Vaseline would go over the needle. From there you could try out the filter at your sink (this is where you can put the intake into the large cup or bucket) and see if it's quieter. If it's still noisy, try again and maybe use more Vaseline. You can of course use better lubrication for water/aquariums but I read Vaseline is safe to use.

After doing this the Fluval C2 was really quiet and perfect! Hopefully you won't have to do the above fix, but given the pros of the filter I wouldn't let that you sway from owning this gem. It's a quick fix and afterwards you have a great silent filter!

I have the c4.

It's great and I have been in the hobby for over 30 years.

I am using it on a 20 gallon tank.

You can never have too much flow rate.

To slow the turbulence I use a Fluval Edge prefilter, the flow adjuster and an aquaclear 50 foam sponge at the water output.

Let me comment on a few negatives people have written about this filter.

1) The water in my tank is crystal clear and as Jack Nicholson and Tom Cruise said in "A Few Good Men" ...."It's that simple." "Are we clear?" "Yes, sir." "ARE WE CLEAR!?" "Crystal" ..... LOL,love that movie.

To those who said the water is cloudy, yes, it was at first. I think it was because of the C nodes. You need to either rinse it clear for hours before using it or just let the filter do it in the tank. It took about 2-3 days to clear up but once it did, the water in my tank is crystal clear. I have been running it for 2 weeks and without the charcoal. I replace it with the aquaclear Biomax to increase the biological media. The Biomax and C nodes' fine powder dust clouded the water but like I said, it's clear crystal clear now. Just let the filter do it's job and the water will be crystal clear in a couple of days.

2) My filter is so quiet that you don't know it's on. What I did was apply some vaseline onto the impeller shaft and into the hole of the impeller. I did this without hearing if it needed to or not. I just applied it before I used it. The motor has NO noise at all and the lid does not rattle. The only thing you hear is the water cascading out of the filter.

3) The self priming issue is that you need to have water in the filter box before you start it. Once there is water, it will self primes. It will take about a minute to self prime as it sucks up the water through the tube. To help the self prime and make it more efficient, I clogged the hole on top of the U intake tube. Now when you unplug the filter and replug it it starts right up without it needing to refill (self prime) the intake tube. If you do a water change and the water in the tank falls just above the bottom of the U intake tube inside the filter box you will need to refill the filter box otherwise it won't self prime. So add water into the box when you refill your tank and when you replug your filter, it will self prime.

4) Try to buy the larger filter (C4) if you can. You can always change the impeller to the smaller impeller if you feel the flow it too much or modify it like I did with prefilter sponge and aquaclear 50 foam. With the bigger filter, it'll clean more and hold more beneficial bateria. And if and when you upgrade your tank, you won't need to buy a new filter. The impellers for the fluval C series and aquaclear are the same. Matter of fact, the motors are the same for all fluval C series and aquaclear except for the 110 model. It's the impeller that determines the flow rate and they are interchangeable between models and sizes except the 110.

All the positives you've read about this filter is true.

It's easy to clean, the red tab that notifies you that your filter foam needs cleaning is great; you are not stuck with any proprietary media which usually cost a lot more to replace; the foam pad and bio media DO NOT need to be replaced just rinse the foam pad or bio media in used or dechlorinated water. They should last for several years. If you use activated carbon/charcoal which I don't, you'll need to replace them every so often depending on your tank load. You can buy any brand of activated carbon and put it into a nylon bag and it's save you money.

Try to use a prefilter. It's attached to the bottom of the intake tube. It helps to catch the debris and uneaten food before it goes to the foam pad keeping it cleaner. It'll also increase your beneficial bacteria load and your fish will love to peck on it for the uneaten food. The only thing is that you'll need to rinse it once in a while or it will clog up completely and slow the filter down to a trickle. Just rinse it when you do your water change.

Hope this helps.....may your fishes be happy and healthy

Update: Feb 22, 2013. The filter is still going strong. The reading of the water has been 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, and 5 nitrate with weekly water changes. It would probably be the same with a water change every other week. And this is in a very overstocked aquarium. The only thing I need to do is rinsed the prefilter with every water change or it will clog up and restrict the water flow to a trickle and the water to the trickle part of the filter will not get any water. That's how good the prefilter is in catching the debris and keeping the foam and biomax clean. The red tab pop up device has never moved and when I check the foam it is very clean but I do rinsed the foam every 3 months and LIGHTLY rinse/shake the biomax every 6 months in used aquarium water. DO NOT buy NEW foam or biomax. Just rinse them. They will last several years if not forever especially if you use a prefilter and the prefilter does not need to be changed just rinsed also. I had to clean the impeller just recently since it wouldn't start back up/spin. It had a lot of slime. I just rinsed off the slime from the impeller and shaft and reapplied some vaseline and it was of and running like new. The water is crystal clear also.

Instant Ocean Omnivore Marine Chips

Instant Ocean Omnivore Marine ChipsDid not know what to expect, dry fish marine reef food. That being said, my fish love it! Increases coloration in fish, does not foul water. Very pleasantly surprised in how well it works. I prefer my fish to get vitamins and minerals that are sometimes lacking in even the best of frozen foods. My fish devour it within 5 minutes, and it helps with their immune system too.

Edit 5/14/13 I believe feeding this food caused my Cyanobacteria outbreak. Stick with frozen, thawed and pored through a fine mesh net and possibly Ocean Nutrition pellets.

Experimentally switched to this food as a sample packet was supplied in a five gallon container of their salt I recently purchased. I am producing less skimmate and my water is maintaining good clarity after a couple of weeks without a water change. They advertise less waste due to the product's digestability which seems to be the case.

I like Instant Ocean. I like cleaner tanks. I recommend this product!

New Life Spectrum H2O Stable Wafers 250g

New Life Spectrum H2O Stable Wafers 250gI have several large fish in a 90 gallon tank and all the fish seem to really like this food. It's also great for my shovelnose catfish that only eats at the bottom of the tank.

I use 1-2 waffers daily in each of my tanks. A must if you want health shrimp, nerite snails, SAE's and cat fish.

Buy New Life Spectrum H2O Stable Wafers 250g Now

My cory catfish were losing all of their fins and no matter what I did and no matter where I put them, their fins would not grow back. Finally I met a friend who told me to try the New Life Spectrum H2O Stable Wafers so I did. This package is very big with lots of wafers,. I didn't expect to have to use them quickly, but boy was I surprised!

My cory catfish fell so in love with these that the line up every morning and can not wait to eat them. They gobble them right up and after only a few weeks, their fins have grown back after a whole year of nothing at all! I thought I was feeding them well with Omega One and other brands of wafers, but never did I have these kind of results.

They are so good that my cat tries to eat them too! He tries to knock open the container and cries to have some!

My cory catfish have very large whiskers again and are only missing a few fins between all of them now instead of all missing all fins. This is VERY exciting news.

And in the other tanks, the plecos wait to eat them and the little fish will all take turns pecking at these wafers until they are gone. I have to split them in half for one tank because the plecos will fight over them if I don't. There is not a fish I have that does not to nuts for these wafers. It cuts way down on food that I have to purchase as all of the fish can and will eat them and their coloring has deepened greatly. They are also much healthier than with any other food I have used in the pastand I have used quite a few brands.

I have been using algae wafers in my fish feeding routine for 15 or so years. I have found a little algae is typically very healthy for the fish not to mention the fish enjoy the tablets tremendously. New Life Spectrum is the brand I primarily buy from and the algae wafers are no exception. I trust New Life Spectrum and will continue to buy their products until I am given a reason to switch.

The wafers are a bit thicker than many of the wafers I have used in the past. The thickness makes the wafer harder to break apart but easier to keep whole when the wafer begins to soften in the tank. Both the omnivores and carnivores in my tank will greedily accept the wafers without prejudice. My current tank has some big cichlids and catfish and I have proudly watched them grow to almost unmanageable sizes. The New Life Spectrum Algae wafer has a good balance of nutrients and fish love to eat them, as long as those two criteria are met, I am going to use this product.

Pros: Nice nutritional balance, stable, appetizing to fish, great sinking ability

Cons: More expensive than other wafers, harder to break apart or crumble

Penn Plax Aqua Life LED Light

Penn Plax Aqua Life LED LightReal pleased with this small aquarium led light. Purchased for a 2.7 rimless gallon glass aquarium for my betta. The aquarium didn't come with a light and after searching found this light fit my needs. The only thing with this light is that it does not have an on and off switch, but I have several tanks and use digital timers for all my lights. The clip on is very strudy and strong and the led lights are bright. I believe there are 9 led lights total. For the reasonable price it is worth the purchase if you already have timers, if not you will need to plug and unplug to turn the light on and off. Again a nice little led light for very small aquariums.

I bought this product from Amazon.com few weeks ago and the result came out to be the "most" flexable LED Clip-On for my aquarium tank. I have 5 Gal Tank and it is used for nursey of my two Black Convict Cichlid. It is the best light for my tank and I thank Penn Plax for making such a bright LED light.

API Stress Coat Water Conditioner, 8-Ounce

API Stress Coat Water Conditioner, 8-OunceThis is just like the kind you can get at the store, only a lot cheaper, so it's got a one-up economically speaking.

This product always worked as as a dechlorinator. I never had an issue with my tap water once conditioned with this product. I have since switched to the big bottles of Prime though since I saw no value in the "stress coat" part of it. I did not see a reduction of "slime" or anything like that. Prime is a better value when bought in the bigger bottles.

Tetra Whisper Power Filter 20, 20-Gallon

Tetra Whisper Power Filter 20, 20-GallonI have had a bunch of whisper filters, and I loved every one. I see one guy managed to not be able to comprehend how to get it started...there's always one. Whispers are good filters, one bad review does not a story make, I highly recommend these filters based on twenty years of experience keeping fresh and saltwater reef tanks (but not for reef tanks, they have their own requirements and box filters won't do it) For freshwater tanks, these are excellent filters, ok that's basically it in a nutshell.

This filter keeps my tank crystal clear, and cost me very little compared to a lot of the other filters out there. Quieter than I expected for the price, and the filter cartridges are the easiest to change. Great buy!

When I bought this filter it was working perfectly and was really quite. I took my tank down and put the filter up for two months, when I set my tank back up and hook this filter back up it was extremely loud. I've tried jiggling the intake tube, pulling it up slightly and letting it catch on it's own instead of me forcing the impeller in place, still no luck. I don't know why this happened but the filter started off great. Even with the loud noise it still cleans the tank well.

This is a great little filter for my 10 gallon. I love the fact that you have a control on top even for this small of an filter. I turn it down while i'm feeding and then turn it back up when they're done eating. Nice little filter, the only thing that would make it a 5 star is if they would have put an extension piece for an option like the larger filters. It sits about 4 inches above my gravel in the 10gallon.

Aqua-Glo Fluorescent Bulb, 14 Watt, 15 Inches

Aqua-Glo Fluorescent Bulb, 14 Watt, 15 InchesNot much to say, it's just a good price for a replacement bulb for my fish tank.

It was the exact same brand that had burned out (after 7 years and a move to a different state) so it's not like i did a ton of research and decided this was the best.

I did notice, it was the cheapest for it's size and wattage on amazon, and it works so there ya go, buy it already

Working as expected. I am glad I was able to find this bulb online as my local pet stores stopped carrying them.

Lee's Vegi Clip, Clown Fish

Lee's Vegi Clip, Clown FishWhen I received it, I immediately wanted to put it in my saltwater fish tank. I grab a piece of seaweed and tried to clip it. The clip broke. The plastic piece holding the clip together and let the user attache the seaweed is made out of a weak plastic that breaks easily. Even if it doesn't break on the first try, it will eventually break with exposure to the salt water.

Amazon return is awesome. Full refund without needing to send it back. I trashed it right after I found out I didn't need to return it.

Even though the picture that is shown of this item is a vaccuum tube, the actual item you will receive is the clownfish veggie clip.

They should really fix this error as im sure its costing them a lot of business. I took a chance on it being the veggie clip and it paid off.

Thanks for nothing Amazon. You have the wrong d@mn picture posted on the ad. It cost too much to return a $4.00 item from kuwait!!! LOL Thanks for nothing. You must do better...

Petco Midground Plant Multi-Pack Silk Aquarium Plants

Petco Midground Plant Multi-Pack Silk Aquarium PlantsI have a 10 gallon tank, and the material is great for these fake plants, but the items are nearly too tall for my tank. It's a standard 10 gallon tank, and if you fill the water until it's one inch from the top, these plants fit comfortably, but I would suggest that you make sure that your tank will be able to accommodate the size of these plants. Overall, very satisfied.

Jardin Fishing Tank 2 Way Air Pump Manifold Taps Lever Valve

Jardin Fishing Tank 2 Way Air Pump Manifold Taps Lever ValveI am driving 2 sponge filters from one air pump. This was supposed to split the line and look nicer than the plastic manifold I was using. With only one valve open the air flowed fine. With both open, I didn't get any flow through the manifold. I went back to the plastic manifold. I tried it on multiple pumps and no dice. Don't waste your time with this.

These are perfect gang valves to use for any aquarium set up. They're metal which is a huge plus for me versus the usual plastic. Plastic ages and gets brittle, which means breaks far more easily than when new. Metal doesn't suffer from that problem, but can rust. I doubt these are stainless steel, but rather zinc plated or similar. However, put a check valve in line and they should never come in contact with tank water, only the humidity in the air.

As you can see from the picture above there is a black rubber plug on one end, this lets you hook up additional gang values if needed.

Why use these? They let you control how much air is going to any one thing. I'm using this on a 20g tall and a standard 10g tank to run a sponge filter in each. Due to the difference in depth of these two tanks, I have to limit the air going to the 10g so that both tanks get enough to operate.

Having a single air pump with multiple tanks is desireable to keep noise down. Start putting multiple air pumps in and you'll get a racket more than one already is.

I searched all the pet stores for an air valve that wasn't cheap plastic. After buying a couple of plastic ones that NEVER worked right I found this on Amazon. I was pleasantly surprised when it I opened the package! Heavy metal, precision controls, precise air flow...and the price was unreal! Local stores should take a hint and stock some quality like this!!

Aquatop CF300 3-Stage Canister Filter, 264 gph

Aquatop CF300 3-Stage Canister Filter, 264 gphI bought this filter because I originally had my eyes on the Cascade 1000. This filter has about the same GPH (265 vs. 264) for half the price. When I first removed it from the package I was greeted with a product that appeared to be used. There were some light scrapes, and moisture. Enough moisture that I actually found mold inside the canister. All the tubing, intake, outtake, etc. appeared to still be sealed though. Not sure if this is the distributor's (TruAqua), or the manufacturer's fault.

After cleaning it up it is working great though. I've had it running for about 5 hours now on a 55 gallon, with a sand substrate, and my water has cleared up a lot. It came with plenty of filter media to fill up the three trays as well. Plastic Bio-balls, Activated Carbon, Filter Cotton, and what I'm assuming is Ceramic for more beneficial bacteria to grow on. The pump for priming it was also nice, made it super easy to set up.

I highly recommend this if you don't mind receiving something that appears to have been used. Maybe I was just unlucky, but it is still a great bargain despite this.

:::UPDATE:::

It seems that the filter media isn't included with this system anymore. They updated pictures to show notes on the media saying that it's not included instead of updating the description.

:::UPDATE AGAIN:::

For media I've been using Marineland Rite-Size filter pads that one has to cut to the proper size. As well as activated carbon, and ceramic, but I just get whatever is on sale when I need more.

At the current price of $80 with no media included I can no longer call this thing a bargain. I personally purchased this for $50 with media included. When I wrote half the price of the Cascade 1000, I literally meant half the price.

Starting a new 55 gallon aquarium can be quite expensive. I wanted to do things right and not get 'soaked' in the process (sorry, bad pun!) After doing a great deal of research on filter types, I knew I wanted a canister. I had a bit of sticker shock while shopping around. Then I found this product!

My order was processed quickly, even delivered sooner than I anticipated. I had the unit put together and running in no more than 15 minutes. Getting it assembled was effortless. I was completely shocked at how silently it operates!

As I write this review, I am looking at my new little fishy family, swimming happily in their new home.

I highly recommend this product to anyone looking for great value, prompt delivery and a very effective filter.

My fishies thank you, and so do I!

The manufacturer's name who makes these canisters escapes me, but they label themselves as Sun Sun or Aquatop. Think of it as the generic version of EHEIM cause oddly enough all their media will work just fine with this. With that said, this has been a very affordable and helpful little canister. I bought mine on eBay (box said Sun Sun) and this one here (box says Aquatop) on Amazon. Honestly I wish Amazon had sold this before, cause it's cheaper here (on Amazon).

Works fine after 1 year and bought my 2nd one to replace my EHEIM.

4 stars because I forget which model from EHEIM will the media pads fit from. And because as explained the handles for the trays like to pop off (I find inching it from one side to the other works best).

Only other issue you may run into is if you hear a rattle or hum sound, it's the little propeller (I forget the name of it) that spins did "ware out" on one of these, but I replaced it for about $5 ... No big deal.

I setup the canister last night without too many issues. Initially it ran whisper quite but has since developed a vibration noise that I will have to figure out tonight. The media trays are a good size but they are made quite cheaply. The media trays are very securely seated in the canister and almost impossible to remove without damaging the popup handle on them. In fact both lower trays already had the handle pop off. I have to figure out a way to remove the trays without relying on the handle. I may need to grease the outside of the tray to see if that helps.

The media included is ample but I wish it came with a better mechanical sponge filter or foam batting for the lowest tray. Also it would be nice if the input bar and spray bar came with some external bracing as I am having a hard time getting it to rest nicely on the back of the tank.

But so far I am happy with the performance per price ratio

264 GPH?????? I'm replacing a Penn Plax Cascade 1000 on my 46g bowfront with this. Not for any reason, because the Cascade 1000 still works well after 6-7 years (gaskets are a little worn and tubes are filled with gook). To compare, the Cascade 1000 spray bar is longer and has more pressure coming out of it (Penn Plax is rated at 265GPH). The Cascade 1000 is larger, has a handle, and comes with all the filter media. This external filter is much smaller, has about 80% the spray output, and comes with white floss on the 3 provided trays, and a bio sponge on the bottom tray.

Next, the priming pump. Doesn't work unless you fill the filter up with water. After you fill the filter up with water, it works fine. The Penn Plax primes an empty canister.

Noise? Quiet as can be. I can't hear it at all. Penn Plax is just as quiet.

Hoses? comes with nice green (Eheim type) hoses, and not the cheap hoses that comes with the Fluval 306.

Is it worth sixty dollars? YES

Will you be happier with a Penn Plax 1000 for a little more? Yes, also considering the Penn Plax comes with the filter media.

Overall, it's cute, does a fair job, and is not too heavy to carry to the kitchen sink.

Do I feel safe with this unit? Yes. the connections are tight, and everything fits perfectly together.

Overall well made, but if you're looking for a lot more power, I'd choose the Penn Plax 1000.

Edit: to add, I think a lot of people are complaining about water in the filter when they received the filter. I found drops of clean water in the filter, and chalked it up as the company was testing to make sure the filter is in working order. Hopefully, someone from the company will respond.

edit: to add again-after changing the filter I noticed the canister can be assembled wrong. I know that sounds weird, but I couldn't figure out how to fix it until I turned the trays 90 degrees. if your canister makes noise, consider this because there is nothing to stop you from putting together the canister wrong.

edit: March 18, 2012the canister filter output isn't working. in other words, the canister is taking water in and not extracting the water. I do have the inline UV filter on the outtake, and this may be the problem. Today, I purchased the Cascade that I've been comparing it to, and am taking this as a loss.

Marineland Eclipse Seamless Integrated Aquarium System, 5 Gallons, Corner

Marineland Eclipse Seamless Integrated Aquarium System, 5 Gallons, CornerI have owned this aquarium for 3 years now. It looks great sitting on my kitchen counter. I could have been more consistent about cleaning the system (about 1x a month), but generally speaking the fish have thrived. Several mistakes I made include: 1) thinking that the bio-wheel needs to be occasionally replaced (don't go there) 2) leaving the light on too much which created an algae bloom, and 3) buying fish that outgrow this small aquarium. I made those mistakes in the first year. Since then it has been smooth sailing except for the light fixture burning out. The light switch is pretty cheap, so repeated use caused it to break. I rigged up another lighting system since I was not able to order a replacement part except for the whole lid unit (which costs as much as the aquarium), but it is not very satisfactory. I am breaking down and buying another aquarium just to get a functioning light. This time I am going to hook up the light to a timer and avoid overusing the switch.

This tank was purchased as an upgrade for my betta. I decided to send this tank set back almost immediately because I found the quality and design of the tank to be pretty disappointing...especially coming form Marineland. First off, the acrylic tank body scratches incredibly easily, especially compared to my other acrylic set by a different manufacturer. Even the foam packing material didn't appear to protect it well. The top and bottom of the tank were both lined with obvious scratches right out of the box! The filter that came with the set is made of flimsy plastic and doesn't sit well in the compartment designated for it. Nearly every time I opened the lid, the filtration system popped up because the cords got stuck in the hinge. The cords from the filter and light have to fit through a really narrow opening near the hinge of the tank. The tank comes with a clip to hold these, but it really doesn't help much. To add a heater, you must carefully thread the cord through a small hole on the opposite side of the lid and drop the heater through a narrow opening in the plastic that supports the filtration system, which is a real pain should you need to adjust the temperature or remove the filter for any reason. As for the lid, I don't understand why they didn't include a little feeding door like many other systems do. It is a hassle to open the entire top (especially if you are limited on space above or behind the tank) just to dump in some flakes. I did like the tank's aesthetics and corner shape when it arrived, and the quality of lightbulb included, but thats about it honestly. In my opinion, there are better tank sets to choose from...particularly if you are shopping for a Betta.

This is by far the best aquarium kit i've used so far. Ive had it for around 1 month already. The filter and bio wheel do the job with keeping the water clear and ammonia levels close to non-existant, respectively. Fish seem very happy and healthy. I was so pleased with this tank, i bought another one!

I've had this tank for 6 months now, and it's on the kitchen counter (in a corner) with 5 male guppies in it (one inch of fish per gallon) and have a couple of plants also. I set it up quickly and easily, and haven't had any problems with scratches. The light is bright enough to keep the 2 plants healthy as long as I planted them directly under the light which is near the front of the tank. The bio wheel is perfect-just don't rinse it, replace it, or let it dry out-ever. I thoroughly rinse the carbon filter every Saturday with tap water and replace it every month. 1/2 gallon water change every Sat. too (via a tank vacuum to churn up the rocks a bit-while avoiding plant roots). It's a 20 min. job.

The only thing I don't like about it is the lid isn't well designed for a kitchen counter with overhead cabinets. I wish the lid was a hinged 2 piece! I can't open it fully on the kitchen counter-even when I pull the whole tank to the counter's edge. (Or, at least they should put an adjustable prop up stick in it. So, I have to unplug everything and take the whole lid off-which is a bit tricky in the kitchen and annoying. They could have put more effort into cord management, too. The cords get pinched in the lid if you don't carefully guide them thru the small holes. My 5 gal dream tank would have those retractable cord roller-upper things in the lid.

But, it looks nice, and the fish & plants are happy.

Want Marineland Eclipse Seamless Integrated Aquarium System, 5 Gallons, Corner Discount?

I have owned this tank for three years now. I originally purchased this tank based on my experience with several of the large Marineland tanks which were phenomenal. The 5-gal system is nice when working, the bio-wheel is unbeatable when it comes to keeping the water conditioned. My three most recurring annoyances which will prevent me from purchasing this same tank to replace mine which has died now:

1) The ballast on the light overheats and melts the plastic casing causing a bad smell and concern re: shorting. Marineland replaced once as a defective part, but the replacement had the same problem, and could not be replaced again because of warranty limitations.

2) The acrylic tank is packed into its box without protections, which means it comes out of the box scuffed up, which can never be fixed.

3) As other reviews have pointed out, the lack of a feeding lid is VERY annoying. There is a hinged access lid, but it opens up to the filer, not the water surface.

Sad that Marineland ditched its usual quality on this system.

JW Pet Company 6-Inch Aircore Sand Airstone Aquarium Accessory

JW Pet Company 6-Inch Aircore Sand Airstone Aquarium AccessoryBury these under the gravel, so the light won't grow algae on the stone and clog up the pores.

It IS a porous stone, so you'll notice it'll start to crumble after 6 months or more. I dug one

up that was about a year old and it broke in half, but hey, it's a stone.

If you want one that lasts longer get a plastic air wall style bubbler...

She looks adorable in the diaper but also prevents accidents in the house with using a disposible liners in them.

I bought two sets, and hand wash them as needed and hang to dry. The service was quick and a fair price for the product and the colors are adorable for a female.

i ordered the pink/purple color for my little yorkie, but received ungly grey and black. other than the wrong color, the diaper works great. it's very small which fit my 2lbs yorkie perfectly.

I bought these for our very small toy rat terrior that doesn't like going out in the cold, so has some "accidents" in the winter.. unfortunately these are made from a very heavy, unflexible material that did not fit her little butt well at all, and did not stay on -when she walked across the floor they would slide down her back. Or she would rub up against a chair and rub them off. They may work for certain dogs that have the perfect body type, but we could not keep them on our little one
