I have used this on both fluval 404 and a 204 lines. It is easy to use, and you will be amazed at the gunk you flush out. I run the brush through, then run some water through the filter in my sink.

Once I detached the hoses, but that was such a pain, I didn't do that again.

I'd highly recommend this if you have fluval filters. AND, I'm sure it will work on other canister filter tubing as well.

I can't really tell if water flow is better after cleaning out the tubing, but I'm sure it is improved as well, and that can only be good for both the tank and the canister filter.

I've owned a hydration pack for years and the knew the hose was getting dirty. This brush, although softer than I hoped, works very well to clean out the dirt/gunk buildup inside the hose. It's not long enough to completely push through, so you'll have to go from both sides.

I've only used it once, but it seems sturdy enough for repeated use over years. Hopefully the plastic cord doesn't crack/break

I was a bit skeptical about this product at first but all doubts were removed as soon as I used the brush. I cleaned out my aquarium hoses and filter head and now water is once again flowing through my system beautifully. The reason why I gave this item a 4 out of 5 was because the brush wires are wrapped around a metal head which cannot go around sharp corners. I was still able to get into every nook and cranny so I will definitely be buying another one of these in the future.

For the past few years I have been using a Fluval cleaning brush to clean the tube hoses for my canister filters.

When it comes to cleaning these hoses this brush works well.

I have also used it to clean the straight parts of the intake tubes on my power filters. However, I was looking for a tube cleaning brush that would be able to reach into the 90 degree angles of the U-portion of these tubes, which is next to impossible to clean.

I thought this brush would be able to do so, however, the metal wire which contains the brush bristles is too long

to make the 90 degree turn.

So I am still searching for a tube cleaning brush which can travel through 90 degree angles.

For the money, this is a nice cleaning brush.

This brush does what it is supposed to do, snake it's way through a fish hose to clean out the gunk. Sure, it does that, but this product could be better

There are barely any bristles on the brush. This means I have to go back in and out often to get a good scrubbing.

Unwinding the body (the white plastic part) is a pain and since it keeps wanting to go back to it's default shape, it is a pain to feed this through a hose

I found that the body would bend often and instead of the brush continuing down the hose, the body was just bending into the house and the brush wasn't moving. Taking it out some and trying again eventually worked.

Honestly, I haven't seen anything that is quite like this. If anyone knows of a similar product that is better be sure to comment. But for now, it does what it needs to do but it takes some work to get there.

I have tried the "made in China" replicas of these filters before and they only last one month before you have to throw them away as the blue floss material rips apart from rinsing. But with the real deal Marineland filters, I have been able to rinse them out and re use them for as long as I want. Well worth the money in my opinion.

HDE LCD Fish Tank Thermometer

I saw this thermometer going for $1.00 plus about $2.50 shipping on a popular bidding website. I didn't really trust it to be a real thermometer at that price. So, I looked it up on Amazon.com. For the less than $6.00 including shipping, I decide to pay a couple of bucks more from Amazon and try it. It came in the mail this afternoon.

When I pulled the thermometer out of the package it was set to Celsius. I switched it over to Fahrenheit and it began reading about 82º in my house. I know the air temperature is around 76º. I waited for five minutes as it drifted further and further down but it never got down to what I believe the temperature actually is. It settled in around 78º. I figured a 2º variance isn't bad. Then, I put it in the fish tank. It immediately dropped down to what I believe the temperature of the tank is, according to the cheap floating thermometer I have in the tank. Given that it's designed to read water temperature, that was good enough for me.

I put it on the tank I plan to use it on and I'm looking at it now. The suction cups are powerful, one for the probe and one to attach the thermometer to the tank. I like the digital read out because it's much easier to read than the colored water in the analog thermometers. I can glance at it from a distance and know the temperature of the tank. Not such a big deal right now in summer. But, it'll be great to know in the winter. I now trust that it's fairly accurateaccurate enough anyway.

There's an on-/off switch on it. I'm not sure that's necessary. These type of devices should run a long time on the watch battery it runs on. The battery is replaceable. Turning it off is difficult. The switch recesses and has to be pressed way in and held in to shut it off. At first I thought the switch was broken. But, I used a pen and held it in and it went off. Turning it on was much easier. There's no risk of turning it off accidentally.

I'll report back if/when it breaks. I think with things like this if they work out of the box, they'll work for a while. There are no moving parts. So, I think this is a great deal. It's got to be as accurate as the $3-$4 floating devices you buy at the Local Fish Store. And, if you want, you can hide the display completely, camouflage the probe and make it virtually invisible.

**update**It's been over six months since I bought the first of these. I now have four on four different tanks. They have been rock solid reliable and the temperature reading seems to be accurate matching the set point on my heaters. I am extremely happy with these thermometers.

After getting tired of squinting my eyes to see the temperature of my alcohol thermometer in my reef tank I decided to try a digital version. Like the other reviewer mentioned my digital LCD thermometer arrived in the mail with the power turned on. No big deal. I wish the suction cup holding the probe was black instead of clear like the other reviewer mentioned because a clear suction cup submerged under water appears white. No big deal for me either as I hid my thermometer probe & suction cup behind some live rocks. So far everything works great as I just turn my LCD thermometer on occasionally to check the temperature of my reef tank & then turn it off. Sometimes I just leave it on longer as I still maintain my alcohol thermometer on the other side of the aquarium that I can occasionally still read when it isn't covered by algae. Occasionally I noticed that the thermometer turns on by itself, but that is no big deal to me. Recommended as it generally works great & you can't beat the price considering most digital aquarium thermometers that I see in local stores costs so much more.

Update 4-2-13. I been leaving my LCD thermostat with the power on for the last month & had no problems with it so far. No problems with it turning off by itself. Been so reliable that I removed my standing thermometer.

I guess I got a defective one. It's stuck with a reading H (degree symbol) F. Tried powering off and on to no avail. Also, impossible to take battery out. Didn't work for me so I can't recommend it.

The HDE aquarium thermometer fluctuates too much to be of any use. The temperature updates about every 30 seconds. Mine has varied from 64 degrees to 110 degrees (really?) within a matter of minutes. In this case, the old adage applies...you get what you pay for.

Obviously, no plant that one buys as a decoration for an aquarium is going to look "real", but for the price, I feel that these were exceptionally low quality. They look very waxy, and are easily knocked out from underneath the river stones holding them down. I bought several Tetra products when I first got my turtle, and my opinion is that they're more "starter" items than well-made, durable items. Maybe they would work very well for fish, but if you're shopping for an aquarium for an aquatic turtle, I would choose better brands because they just aren't up to the job.

This was a neat product. Don't be surprised when you dump it in if you see white dots go everywhere. It spreads little tiny things throughout the tank (like smashed vitamins). The fish go crazy and eat bits and pieces of it. It does eventually disappear and you won't notice it afterwards. At first though you go "What in the..." Grin. But, the fish like it so that's all that matters.

This is by far the best product I could have purchased for my discus aquarium. Heals little nips and cuts they can get from getting scared and running into something and overall my discus look more vibrant and healthy than before I started giving it to them. I mix it in with my own homemade fish food and they eat it up. Highly recommend.

This product was recommended since i purchased the Pondmaster 2920 20 watt UV pond water light clarifier. Unfortunately I took for granted that this was actually the correct replacement part since all documentation seemed to match and it was "recommended". It was about 1/4" too long, and when trying to screw the housing cap back on it shattered the bulb. Glass fragments got stuck in the necks of the unit itself and I was unable to get them out. The instructions were simple and easy to follow. The timer is very accurate, It hasn't lost or gained any time in two weeks.

Adjusting the food amount takes some time, and occasionally isn't consistent and will dump a little more than you want. All in all it's definitely worth the money.

The unit is easy to program and works well with pellet food. It's less consistent with flakes. I recommend testing it over a piece of paper a few times to fine tune the dispenser adjustment.

Also, make sure that the unit and its mounting clamp is suitable for your tank. I had a little difficulty finding a spot that cleared my lights and I had to come up with a temporary cover that allows the food to drop. The food is released through a trap door and I had to lower my water level a little bit so that it didn't sweep through the water on its way around.

Another word of advice: throw the included batteries away and supply fresh ones. Mine died during our vacation and I came back to some pretty hungry fish.

Except for the battery issue, I am pretty happy with the performance.

You have to do a test to see if quantity is enough and if not use the repeat option per feed or add more feeding schedule time.

It could have been useless for me if I didn't have the old one which I use as a spare parts. I reused the vise from the old to the new feeder, thanks is fits. If what I have described fit your aquarium, this is a Great auto feeder. The larger size is AF-2005D and the mini size is AF-2009D. If you need the larger one then search for it. The food drum container is enough for two weeks dispensing I believed, the large size is really large than the mini, good at least for a month.

I purchased 2 of these units the displays are hard to read seems like some of the voltages are off when weaker batteries are in displays are good. As long as you can read the display the units work great it's hard to read with new batteries. Also remember to set the arrows one or two of them to set the cycles if not units will not work. Good for cheap.

Spirulina Discs Fish Food

I have guppies, apple snails, pond snails, and shrimp. I feed a different food each day of the week. My creatures love this product. I actually bought it for the bottom feeders, but the guppies go crazy over it too. It sinks to the bottom perfectly and before long the fish find it and go crazy. The snails are next, and the fight ensues. The shrimp usually like to wait until things have died down, but sometimes they will sneak in and try to grab some bites before the others have cleared out.

They are good sized pellets for my 10 gallon community. My only complaint is the dispenser. The top slides around to reveal an oddly shaped hole which is too small to easily extract a disc. It's very annoying. I'd really rather just open the top and get one out.

So I tapped on the sipper tip a few times with my finger and no water was coming out. I kept doing it, and still no water came out. I had to flick it a bit to get the bubble out, but as soon as they started using it again another bubble would form no water would come out.I've now had to place a small dish of water inside their cage to keep them hydrated. This is very frustrating and its starting to look like I'll have to buy another sipper bottle, hopefully one that works.

These don't take up so much room in the tank. I can change the lid to a different spout if I want to.

We moved our little hamster to an aquarium tank because she wanted to chew the wire cage and keep us up all night. So we bought this water bottle for her tank. It attached easily to the inside of the tank, although I think I should have put it up higher then what the directions said. She had trouble at first using it, because it's not at an angle but straight up & down. She had to lean her head to the side and kind of hold on to it to get any water out. It seemed to work okay, but sometimes dripped. But then one night she used it to climb out and escape (we have a reptile screen ontop) so now we place a heavy painted rock on top. About a week later she chewed a hole the size of a dime in the water bottle! And yes she has lots of chew toys. So now we have a tiny water dish in her cage, but she often gets her bedding in that. So I'm again on the search for a aquarium water bottle, hopefully glass.

Lee's The Ultimate Gravel Vac 25' Kit

I have three (soon to be five) tanks, and after setting up the third I quickly realized that lugging buckets for all of them twice a week just wasn't an option. I purchased the Lee's gravel vac and haven't looked back since! It is wonderful, and works perfectly. It is true that the plastic adapter that it comes with must be replaced, but $6 and a trip to the hardware store solves that issue. It hardly makes the product "useless", unless you're ridiculous enough to toss it over such a small issue. The lower price point more than makes up for the small fix.

It is an identical product to some of the pricier ones (such as Python), but works just as well. I would highly recommend it to anyone with multiple tanks or with large tanks who is tired of hauling buckets!

I've had a python for 5 years and was stupid last time I put it away and didn't make sure all the water was out of it and behold, mold! I was looking for something fast on here (since I have prime) and not overly expensive. Lee's was always at the pet store so figured I'd try it. I've used this same gravel vac for about 15 years before the plastic became brittle with age and had to be replaced. The hose is long enough to reach from our family room to the basement sink through an air vent. The only problem I've experienced is that the valve that is used to regulate the water either to the sink or to the aquarium leaks some making it a little inefficient. It just takes a little longer to fill the aquarium.

Typically these lights last for over a year, although we replace them more frequently as recommended. This one burned out in only 4 months.

When we inspected the burned-out bulb more carefully, we could see how poorly this light was put together. It's not surprising how quickly it burned out.

This light is too expensive for the horrible quality. We've had many aquariums, both fresh and saltwater, for over a decade, and this is single-handedly the worst aquarium product we've ever purchased.

Excellent in bringing out iridescent colors in freshwater fish and for growing plants. I wasn't sure how this would pan out for a freshwater aquarium since the reviews I read discussed its use in saltwater set-ups, but I have to say I'm glad I took a chance with this 6700K lamp instead of going with the 10,000K "daylight" replacement lamp.

I am using the light on a 55 gallon hex aquarium with a canister filter system. I have a freshwater set-up with Discus, assorted tetras, swordtails, Chinese algae eaters, mickey mouse platys and several varieties of plants.

I've been using the lamp for a couple of months now and my plants are healthy and growing well. The fish seem comfortable with the intensity of the light and I have to say they look fantastic as the lamp really brings out their colors. I bought a Rio 3100 pump to power my Pro Clear Aquatics 175 wet/dry filter and it's just about perfect for that application. The pump is designed to run submerged so I just placed it in the sump where is sits on it's suction cups. For the inlet I installed a 90 degree fitting to prevent vortexing and cavitation of the pump because the water level in the sump is only about 4 inches deep. Then I come right out of the top with a hose for the return it's very simple.

The pump is nice and quiet. I did have a little noise at first but I think that might have been some residual air that took a few minutes to get through the system now, while not totally silent it's still nearly inaudible. Also, under my sump I placed a couple of pads made from some closed cell foam and the whole thing is inside of a cabinet which helps to make it even more quiet in the room.

The pump draws less wattage than any other pump of it's size that I could find, only about 75 watts. We will see how it does over the long haul but I've had great results from the other Rio pumps I've used in the past(Rio 1100) for other purposes.

The pump is not expensive either and that's another plus and thus a great value.

The light is very compact and bright. Unfortunately the design is cheap and LEDs are not cooled properly. Even if you power it at the lowest voltage rated (10V) and the strip is mounted on flat conductive surface, the LEDs will dim down very significantly after a few minutes of turning it ON. If you try powering it at 24V, LEDs will dim dow to about 10% of the initial light output in less than 30 s.

I have an Red Sea Max 130D and wanted more of the blue actinic look for when the main compact fluorescents were not turned on (the standard moon lights that comes with the tank are two wimpy small blue LEDs). This light bar fits in light housing perfectly! I had to wire it to a DC wall adapter, but even the most novice electrician can do this (some electrical tape, wire stripper, scissors, and crimp connectors some shrink tubing if you want to get fancy) and then screw the two mounting brackets in to the metal light deflector. I bought this toy the same time I bought the Googlie Rocky Rabbit toy but for a smaller breed dog. She loves rolling Googlie Stella Squirrel throughout the house. Again, it takes a strong bite on "Stella" to get the squeaker to sound. But once my dog found the "sweet spot," the squeaking persists! The most vunerable spots for chewing and destruction are the legs, ears and tail. The durability and quality of tough material is excellent. Again, I bought these Googlie toys for their comic character and shape. These toys are the first things the pups take from their toy basket.

I think we own 5 or 10 of these "Googlies" by now and we love them (Oh, and so does the dog!). They keep Duke entertained for hours on end because of the unique shapes and the squeaking, I think. Plus, we like them because of the neat characters! I definitely recommend checking out a Googlie or two for you and your pet!

Mesh is not fine. Purigen falls right out. The only product with fine enough mesh is Seachem's The Bag 180 micron mesh bag.

This is just a fine mesh bag with a string attached (not a drawstring) to tie it closed. It is sized correctly for the stated filter and includes enough extra length to make tying off easy.

These bags are just what they say they are. They close with tie strings. I put SeaChem Matrix into the bag and put the bag in my HOB filter box. Works great keeping the media all in one place.

the holes are too big; will not hold purigen. fine for just carbon or large media. Weak, tears over time. i will not be purchasing again.
