EcoPlus 2 Air Pump, 2 Outlets
It would be nice if there was an easy way to attach an inlet tube to the intake on the pump to draw dry air into a high humidity environment from outside of the humidified zone in my application.EcoPlus 2 Air Pump is a great little pump. It has no problem supplying air to the 2 plastic air stones in my 60 gallon aquarium at a low setting. It is very quiet with very little vibration.

OK for the price.came fast and works great ... its alot bigger then it looks in the picture also you can ajust the noise level with the bubble controlHaving dual pumps works very well for my aquarium (100 gallons). Plus it runs very quietly and I can adjust the airflow which I really like.Thursday, September 11, 2014

A&E Cages-Penthouse Dome Top Cage - Large
Buy A&E Cages-Penthouse Dome Top Cage - Large Now
This cage has instructions that are poor at best, written in chinese. A total of 7 Instructions connect ABCD, Screw EFGH to bottom, scrdew top panels left and right, attach 4pcs seed guards. Sounds simple doesn't it. Picture is bearly discernable, a jumble and one sided. Some of the items are not even accounted for in the picture. Some of the screw holes don't line up causing the screws to strip. After construction it looks good, will have to wait to see if it lasts. It has 4 access holes, but only 3 bowls and holders. Bottom has two screw holders on each side, haven't figues why they were drilled out, or what they are for? Called A&E company, they don't seem to know either. Paid $16 more for the cage from A&E than Amazon, orry I didn't get it from AmazonRead Best Reviews of A&E Cages-Penthouse Dome Top Cage - Large Here
The breeder I'm getting my baby Conure from recommended A&E cages. I was looking a lot at Prevue because they seemed to have a large selection. This cage is AWESOME! It's huge and a very strong quality. It came 2-3 days after I ordered it with FREE shipping. The boxes were fine no damage. My husband put it together in an hour-he said there weren't directions which I find hard to believe BUT he still put it together and he is not that handy ;) I love that there is just one big door in the front and the latch is the best I've seen on cage. The color is lovely, its super spacious, basically I think this is a great cage with a GREAT price! I would highly recommend this cage for your bird.Want A&E Cages-Penthouse Dome Top Cage - Large Discount?
I've bought A&E cages, and they are pretty decent for Chinese cages. One of my cages arrived with a broken latch, and they replaced the part free.Heavy duty wire, solid assembly hardware and nice design. The fit and finish could be better, but then the price would be a lot higher. I have two macaws (which are hell on cages), and an African Grey, and the cages work out nicely.
Recommended.

Exo Terra Turtle Bank Magnetic Floating Island
My turtles love the different height levels on the rock. I would highly recommend this product. My small slider loves this dock. The magnets are strong enough on my 10 gallon tank and even worked on a bowed plastic tank with a two inch gap of air between the plastic and the dock. I love being able to adjust the position of the dock without putting my hands in the tank by simply sliding the magnets around the glass. I plan on purchasing this dock again, perhaps in a larger size as my turtle grows.

My turtle and fish love this thing. The fish chill underneath in the dark, the turtle has no trouble getting on it, which is incredible considering the fact that my turtle is a little slow in the physical ability department, ie., she's a klutz. It stays in place through my extra thick plexiglass tank. We all dig this basking platform. Well worth the money. was very satified when i got my large bank, it looked great and my med size red ear slider was enjoying it. but then it started to sink. the plastic cracked around the magnets, allowing water infiltration as it ages. we've only had ours for several months of joy before we are shopping again for a real solution. very disappointedWant Exo Terra Turtle Bank Magnetic Floating Island Discount?
my turtle is a baby, less than 2 inches and my tank is 10 gallon. the rock is made of high quality material, it floats on top of the water and the magnets (outside of the tank) are what's keeping it in the corner and not drifting off.again, my turtle is small so i can't say much how stable it is under some weight but no complaints so far. when he grows i will be buying the next size rock (i have the 'small' now)

Fluval Biomax Bio Rings - 500 grams/17.63 ounces
Because these are so textured and allow for full water flow through colonization is very fast and you'll see the results of this product in fewer ammonia spikes as well as more stabilized water parameters. At this price they're beyond a great deal, plus this item is Prime eligible so add free shipping to boot.
My suggestion is to order more than you think you'll need remember to rinse them in aquarium water not tap water. The same applies to filter maintenance always rinse any filter media in water taken from the tank the filter serves. This protects all the healthy bacteria while getting rid of the gunk. Using tap water will kill your colonization on contact.
Although Fluval states to replace these every six months, I can assure you after 40 years of keeping fish this only to sell more product. In fact ceramic media will last almost indefinitely so there's rarely a reason to replace them. They're also great for seeding a new aquarium filter and shortening the cycle period.
Next to the eheim splintered glass spheres this is one best media you can use a great product at an incredibly deep discount.I use this in several filters, not just in the Fluval canisters. It is great bio-material. I DO NOT change it out on the 6 month recomendation that is on the box. This will last much longer than that. I simply rinse once a month and keep it running through. I will remove any broken or crumbled ceramic rings, but those are far and few between.
Great stuff!!!

I've had my tank up and running for a month prior to buying the prefilter media, bio media, and filter floss. Before I installed these, my water was fairly clear, just a little cloudy, but nothing that I would have worried about. However, after I put this in, my water was crystal clear. I've never had a tank with water so clear. It's quite amazing. I have a fluval FX5 filter with the prefilter media and a bag of carbon on the top rack, 2nd shelf has 2 boxes of fluval bio media, and 3rd shelf has the filter floss with 2 boxes of biomedia. That's what it took to fill my filter. I found it was cheapest at the time on amazon. I have a 125g tank with a walleye and a couple dozen feeder fish (so a fairly messy bunch of fish). I highly recommend this stuff. Works great (been using this for 3-4 months).Read Best Reviews of Fluval Biomax Bio Rings - 500 grams/17.63 ounces Here

This is what you want for a canister filter of any brand. You don't need to replace them, I've been using the same batch for 10 years and they don't disintegrate. If Hagen told you they lasted forever that wouldn't be good for business. Bio balls, bio floss and lava rock are the most popular alternatives but the cylindrical shape of these keep the load from clogging with detritus. Good for big tanks with messy eaters, like large fish or turtlesSunday, February 16, 2014

Aqua-tech Power Filter for 5-15 Gallon Aquariums
In response to other reviewers who broke theirs or felt it was too loud, you must prime it. If you do not fill the filter basin with water it will chug along really loud and eventually burn out the motor. Probably says that in the instructions..I started up 2 10-gal tanks ( 1 for each of my kids) about a month ago. One tank I had already so I just bought the Aqua-Tech filter from walmart and the other I got as a basic kit from Petco which was Aqueon brand. Everything else in both tanks were identical including the plants, rocks and fish. The Aqua-Tech 5-15 filter has kept the tank crystal clear since day 1 and the fish are healthy and active. The Aqueon tank had so much trouble the first couple weeks the fish were dying and I could never get the water as clear as the other tank so finally to end my frustration I just went and got another Aqua-Tech 5-15 filter for the 2nd tank and it's looking so much better!
I really expected the Aqueon filter to work better since it was from a "pet" store but I think for sure the Aqua-Tech filter is better!

I have a 10gal triple divided male Betta tank and I'm using 2 of these with good results. Since I have dividers, I wasn't getting the filtration that I needed so I picked up another one and my problem was solved. I have both of them baffled since Betta don't like strong currents. And also got a Fluval pre-filter from petsmart covering the intakes and they still do a good job. As another review said, you must prime the pumps or you'll destroy the motor. Yes they are kind of on the cheap side, but if you do your weekly water changes like you should, you should not have a problem with these. And they are not loud at all.Read Best Reviews of Aqua-tech Power Filter for 5-15 Gallon Aquariums Here
I am rewriting this review since I returned my earlier purchase (which did not work same model and brand) and exchanged it for a new one, hoping it was some sort of mechanical defect or broken part. It seems I may have been right (though I am not entirely certain). The first one just would not work at all. The second one took about as much coaxing as the first, but it did, in the end, start working. I almost couldn't believe my eyes after my titanic battle (which I lost) to get the first one running. I was all but convinced they'd designed a filter that does absolutely nothing.
If you want a filter that's easy to start (just plug it in and go) then don't get this one by any means. The filtration quality is decent for the tank sizes it is recommended for, though for divided tanks, I would recommend having a separate filter for each section. The blue part of the filter (the thing you replace) seems far superior quality to some other filters I have used for smaller tanks. This system also has a component that does NOT need replacing (some kind of BIO-filter where bacteria is intended to grow, I believe). You may notice some Wal-Mart brand activated carbon on the shelves near these don't buy it. The packaging seems to indicate the carbon is a necessary component, when in fact it is contained inside the blue filter cartridge. The only way you could use it is to buy a media/mesh bag and fill it with carbon, then slide it down inside the filter somewhere.
Another reviewer posted that they have to reset the filter every time the power goes off, and I can attest to that. The only tip I can give for how to get this thing to reliably start up has something to do with the impeller and its assembly. I found that you can pull the assembly up a little bit by putting your finger under the assembly more in the center of the reservoir (as opposed to the sides) in between the bio-filter and the cartridge. That's the only decent place to lift up on it. When you lift up (with it already primed and then plugged in) you will hear a grinding as soon as you hear this, shove the whole assembly back down, hard. I think one of the impeller components can spin freely when it's not supposed to (not the impeller itself, but something else). This "jamming" action seems to have jammed that component into its proper place since as soon as I did that, it started working. This must be done EVERY single time the power goes off or you unplug it.
Note: When working, it does take about 20 seconds for the filter to work up to full capacity (with water spewing out at the normal rate). Apparently it can also be baffled by moving the intake tube up and down. However, I am unwilling to try this due to the touchy nature of the impeller assembly. I just know that if I do, it will stop working and I'll have to get it started again.
Overall, I'm not sure it's worth the hassle, but based on some other reviews, and for the price, it is a fairly good filter.

I got this filter in a 5 gallon tank kit for my betta fish. I fallowed the directions and set up the filter. You must pour water into the filter before you plug it in or it will be very loud and you can burn out the motor. It states this in the directions. If it is ever unplugged I pour water into it before i plug it in. It keeps the water very clear. It is so quiet that i often check and see if it is still working. it has a strong current off the top so I had to baffle it with an old water bottle. So far I have had no problems with it. I would update this review if anything happens.Monday, November 4, 2013
Aqueon Flex LED Aquarium Bubble Wand, 14-Inch, Blue
But like any hobby as long as your interest is there things tend to grow and change for the better. That said I've found one of the most inexpensive and creative way to make subtle to dramatic changes to most any tank is by using up lighting as the old saying goes "lighting is everything"
When Marineland came out with their LED wands I had them in many tanks in different numbers and colors, mostly the Lunar blue and white. The wands were just ok as they have a tendency to release and float to the top and the LED bulbs are quite dim.Enter the Via aqua wands much better. They're weighted and have stronger suction cups so they stay put, the LED bulbs are brighter but the air tube is rather weak and thin and like the Marineland they clog easy.
When I came across these bendable Led air wands by Aqueon I could just imagine the possibilities, circles, half circles, quarter moon. Building multi layered air columns and so on. My hunch was right and these wands are sensational.
The build quality is the best yet so far the main tube is stronger so you can feel free to bend these into virtually any shape you like. The outflow is generous and creates a wall of bubbles in an even beautiful flow. The main housing is a pliable rubber and each LED is incredibly bright, It's easy to adjust this by adding a lamp dimmer if you want a nice range of adjustment to the brightness. I would say this applies really only to the white as the Lunar blue has a much more softer hue and is closer to a true Lunar blue as you would find with over head LED lighting systems that offer this feature.
Bending these around your tank decor adds tons of visual appeal as well as great extra oxygen via the increased aeration one of the best things you can do for your fish.
I'm running a bunch of these in different sized tanks from 55's to 125 and up and find them to be a wonderful addition to every single one of them. I think any hobbyist will love these.
5 Fins Up!Our tank looks beautiful. It is a planted tank with white rocks, blue and green glass discs, red rock hiding places. We just wanted more of backdrop. This bubble wand really did the trick. Blue lights with bubbles create a backdrop and set off the fish and plants more than ever! My only complaint is that at the furthest end if you turn the amount of air down, some of the holes don't let bubbles through. So a low setting isn't really ideal, so we just keep it on a medium setting and it works great!
Buy Aqueon Flex LED Aquarium Bubble Wand, 14-Inch, Blue Now
Obviously, you can find cheaper bubble wands out there that probably aerate you water just as well. but this one is unique in that it is bendable and comes with LED's to light the bubbles. I use it in my 10 gallon tank, and my only problem with it is that if you turn the air down power, the bubbles don't disperse evenly across the wand. If I keep the air at full blast, the bubbles look great and disperse perfectly, but it's a bit too powerful for my fish. The LED's are pretty nice, but I only turn them on once in a blue moon really. Overall, it was a good buy, but unless you can keep the bubbles at full blast it may not have the visual appeal you're looking for.Read Best Reviews of Aqueon Flex LED Aquarium Bubble Wand, 14-Inch, Blue Here

Tetra Usa STS25907 4-Piece Interlock Stone, Large
I purchased 2 sets to build a small platform for my 18month old eastern spiny softshell turtle. The "stones' are lightweight and smooth so they won't scratch your animal. The idea is great you can configure the stones for the space and the animal. It is compatible with the reptofilter and the prodcut can be used in wet or dry environments.
Cons: pegs stick out, float. Not enough holes in "stones" limits
configurations, costly to build a large enough structure.
The set comes with 4 "Stones" one large, 2 medium one small and have 1,2, or 3 holes depending on stone size which limits configuration. The pegs stick up above the stones even after snapping off the extra and they float. You have to buy lots of sets in order to get a large enough build to make it useful. It would be nice if the manufacturer offered sets with all one size "stones" i.e. 4 large stones.
User Suggestions: For dry environments manually cut off the pegs a little shorter than the top of the stone so they don't stick up. For wet environments ditch the pegs and use aquarium safe glue for a permanent set up.

This product made my 36 gallon freshwater tank crystal clear when nothing else would. The product, however is a little noisy. If you place the pump a little lower than the top of the tank it is a lot quieter. Has been working for about three months now without problems. The instructions could be better it was not clear how low you could place the pump in the tank. Good product; would buy again.Read Best Reviews of Aquatop UV Sterilizing Pump with UVP9 and 9W UV Here
JBJ sold their line of UV Sterilizers to Aquatop and there have been nothing but improvements on an already outstanding productWhat had always put me off about UV systems was the need for power heads, pumps, tubing , plumbing and the overall hassle of installing one not to mention the expense.
This little gem bypasses all of the above in one self contained unit. No hoses or tubing to run and no extra pump to buy, everything is pre built into one sleek, all inclusive unit which you can literally take out of the box, attach inside your tank or sump, plug it in and that's that.
What U.V sterilizers do is pull in water which flows past an encased in clear quartz tube but is exposed to UV light, which kills 99% of harmful pathogens. Humans can't see U.V light and it's dangerous to look at directly hence the bulb which is more of a tube encased in a quartz sleeve is covered in a black plastic case.
A little violet light lets you know the unit is working. As the water is exposed to the U.V harmful microscopic organisms that pose a threat to marine life or cause cloudy water are destroyed.
Most UV systems, including this one boast a 99% kill rate but keep mind enough good bacteria that colonize and lives in your filter and tank substrates aren't effected so the delicate ecosystem of an "established" tank remains unharmed.
The first time I installed one of these I had thought the water in my tank was clear however the following morning after I had installed the unit the water was so unbelievably crystal and pristine that had it not been for the aeration it would have looked like my fish were floating in air.
I have these in every single tank and they're marvelous.
PROS
1) Strong pump and outflow 211 GPH this is the same for all three units which range from tanks up to 40 , 100 and 150 gallons. I keep mine above the water line and get great aeration and surface movement.
2) Excellent build quality, the unit is surprisingly heavy and well made
3) Excellent kill rate
4) Maintains crystal clear water quality my fish are significantly more lively, vibrant and their overall appearance and health has improved.
5) Water parameters remain stable.
6) Effortless to install. This unit really is "plug and play" and can be installed and used right out of the box. Remember to check the quartz sleeve inside the unit for any damage prior to set up.
7) Good clear instructions and toll free support from the manufacturer.
8) Very affordable. Especially when compared to similar UV systems costing hundreds more and that's without the add-ons like a pump, power head, tubing, etc.
9) Bulb replacement is needed once a year, pre filter sponges (one comes with the unit) should be changed monthly or bi monthly depending your tank conditions a pack of three is around $8.00
10) Kills 99% of disease causing pathogens
I have these in all my tanks, from 40, 55,70, 125 and a soon to be 180. I buy the 13 watt rated regardless For a difference of a few bucks it's worth the upgrade.
* Note although humans can't see U.V it can damage our eyes. Never take the cover off and look at the UV light when on.
** When the violet light is flickering it's time to change the bulb.
** Never use a UV Sterilizer in a new or still cycling aquarium, these are for established aquariums only.
A 5 star product!
Want Aquatop UV Sterilizing Pump with UVP9 and 9W UV Discount?
Combined two tanks into a new 40 gallon breeder tank three weeks ago. The water had stabilized but several weeks into the new tank process, it became cloudy and turned dark green. After a 20% water change, I added the Aquatop UVP-9 and within 24 the water had become crystal clear again and the green is fading fast. I used the silicone tubing that came with it and the addditional aeration has really energized the fish! The sponge inside the housing will be an additional area for biological filtration and is easy to access. I am still using the two old filters from the old tanks, but next time I'll probably cut to the chase and use one of these all-in-one units as the main filter for a smaller less populated tank.
[UPDATE] I recently ordered a second one of these units for a different tank, but couldn't seem to get the aeration to work. I wrote to Aquatop customer service and they sent a quick reply that solved the problem: It seems that I had screwed the blue tip down too far into the housing... It is actually adjustable! By backing it out about a half turn, I now have a great steam stream of aeration!
