I just received this light for my tank on Friday. Very disappointed in the quality of the light fixture. The bulb connections are very poor and I had difficulty getting the lights to light. After much twisting of the bulbs in and out I finally got all four bulbs to light but not without sparks on one of the connection and then the unit starting to smoke and make crackling noises. As soon as I placed it on my tank the white bulbs went out again. After tinkering with them they came back on. Then the atinic bulbs went out. I decided that this light is a fire hazard and went back to my old light. I will be returning this light to the Seller. In addition, you have a separate plug for the fan on this light which I think is dumb. The fan should come on automatically with the light and go on a off with the heat of the light. Yes, this light was cheap but I once again, I got what I paid for. A piece of junk. I just wish there was a review from Amazon on this light so I would have known. So I am putting one on now for future buyers.

ok so i set up this light today and i thought it was good at fist until i got my hands wet. i dipped my hand in the tank the took them out and wiped them with a paper towel so the were just a little wet but not dripping or anything then i touched the top of the light and got a really bad electric shock. it really was bad because if im am also ever leaning over the lght or anything and its not wet if it hits a sensitive nerve like in the elbow or finger tip it hurts to much to even touch it. its like a fear not. its worse then getting shocked by a wall outlet because it just stings the whole body. also the fan is very loud and never goes off and its on a separate plug so it has to be on a timer. other then that it works.

If you need something quiet, look elsewhere, the fan in this thing is pretty loud. Other than that, I had great PAR values coming from this light with ATI and Geissman bulbs in it. Grew out all types of corals, but probably not as fast as they could have.

GloFish Aquarium Kit with Blue LED Light, 5-Gallon

This is a wonderful little tank. we decided that we wanted to get a few fish, so we looked into options for a place for them to live. The first idea was a cute little led colored bubbler tank, but they topped out at three gallons, and we wanted the fish to have a bit of room. The normal everyday 10gal tank was out of the question, because we live in a small apartment and barely have room to move around as it is. After a bit of research into tanks we decided to go with this one as it has the nice led lighting, room for a small fish to move around, comes with a filter system, and wasn't really heavy. The only place we have to keep a tank in on top of a folding wire dog kennel that our cute little dog lives in, to much weight and we would not only be out a fish tank, but be shopping for a new kennel.

A tank of this size means you have to be careful of which fish you choose to live inside it. Anything that grows to a large size is out of the question, the rule I found out is 1 inch of fish per gallon of water. That means if you get fish an inch long you can put five in this tank without overloading it. If you wish to have more fish, you should get a larger tank. So this limited the choices of fish a bit.

We ended up going with two of the fish the tank is named for glo-fish (one pink one green), and since it was on sale a little fiddler crab, (everything said we should wait on the crab as it takes awhile for the tank to grow the right kind of bacteria, but he is so cute we got him anyway) then we stopped at a pet store named for fish and picked some tiny neon tetra's and a couple zebra danio's. all the fish lined up nose to tail might be 4 inches(if you pull hard on each one as you measure), so with the crab (that does morning exercise), we are right at the limit for this tank.

Little tanks mean more cleaning as there is no space for anything to hide. The fish eat, that means after the food is processed thru the fish it has to go somewhere, which means you have to get that back out of the tank. Plus new fresh gravel tends to cloud the water (something else I just learned), so has to be clean often. all this leads to every other day cleaning for the first month of ownership I am told. I didn't know it was going to be so much work to keep the little tank going, but its really not that hard to clean if you get a gravel cleaner (available at most pet stores for around ten dollars). It takes less time to clean the tank, than it does to pre heat the oven. I know as she was starting to make diner when I got off work and turned the oven on to pre heat, before it was ready for the food to go in the tank was cleaned and ready to roll. This all means that its not much of time consuming task to clean up.

The fish seem very happy, they zip back and forth and dart thru all the decorations (not included with the tank but easy to find), and the crab climbs into places that make you wonder how it could possible get there. Its a very relaxing thing to have in the home as I find myself watching the little fish darting around instead of watching the television so much. Plus feeding time is allot of fun as the fish get to be really active trying to get all the food for themselves (they hate to share).

For those of us out there without allot of space and with a desire to have little finned creatures zipping around in our homes, I highly recommend this tank.

For those out there with more space I would say find something a lot larger and fill it with fun things like little freshwater sharks.

My mom got this tank for my son for his birthday to replace a cracked aquarium that had held a betta we got the aquarium and started putting it together. There was a small piece of the base broken on it but I figured it's ok no big deal after all the aquarium is intact, the light is amazingly bright and the betta was loving having more room to swim but then I plugged in the filter and the filter started to pull him to it. The filter is way too powerful for a betta so currently it is a 5 gallon fish bowl with a pretty blue light. This is a beautiful tank but I will be replacing the filter because if the betta gets stuck to it it will kill him and I don't want to explain that to my son.

I purchased this for my 13 year old daughter for her room. She had been begging for a fish tank and I needed one she could take care of by herself, this is such easy care it came with everything vital needed. I got the rest of the plants and things at petsmart because the price was lower and the fish at a local pet store, her tank is so cute. I have to say the fish HATE the light! They hide whenever it is turned on, there is no way to adjust the brighness if it and to be honest she didn't care for it either because it was so bright. All in all the price on Amazon is $40.00 or more cheaper than anywhere else around so it's a GREAT buy. Oh, one other downside, since it was for a girl on my end and it being in her bedroom...she does her hair, alll the time and she HAS to leave the room to spray perfume, hairspray etc due to it having a completley open top. I can see that being a problem for other families so consider that when you purchase it, and where it will be placed with other pets and or children.

I have been through quite a few heaters in my time, maybe a dozen. I have had expensive and cheap heaters.

I have been using this for a month now and it's great and keeps consistent temps. The digital readout is accurate as compared to my old fashioned in tank glass thermometer.

The thermostat takes a minute or two to learn probably have to use the manual to at least double check if you are using the one button properly like I had to (I hate having to read manuals). So setting it up is a little clunky initially, but overall not too bad.

The heather itself was slim for a 300 watt heater, and aluminum was the only choice for me as I have a 8" Red Severum that could break a glass one. It comes with a suction cup, but my tank has issues with suction cups. I was happy to see that with a little wedging, the heater set nicely on the bottom of the tank where I need it, with no suction cups.

The wiring is a bit clunky as there is one wire for the thermometer and one for the heater. The thermometer probe must be away from the heater for an accurate temp and so the thermostat can adjust properly. It's a necessary evil for these type of heaters with the external thermostat.

These are hard to find for a good price. I was not familiar with this brand, and with little feedback as to quality I was hesitant. This heater is running strong and accurate, all I need is for it to last and I am a happy camper.

4 stars because the wiring and thermostat setup/adjustment could be a bit easier.

Would I buy it again? You bet, but ask me in a year as well.

This heating unit worked great for the first few months. In fact it worked so well that I didn't bother to hook up my Apex Jr controller immediately upon switching to it because it kept the temperature so consistent. Then one day we had a 5 hour power outage. After power came back, I waited a half hour and then reset the GFCI to make sure I didn't have to worry about any surges; the thermometer acted just fine as it warmed my tank back up. Upon arriving home a week later from a work trip, I found many of my corals starting to bleach. I figured it was the stress from the previous power outage, but as I went through the motions of testing my tank, I decided to plug my Apex Jr back in and tested the water temp again. Turns out the water temperature was a full 10 degrees over what the heater was showing. I then tested the water temperature with 4 other methods and they all reported the same thing, my tank temp was 88 degrees!

Upon reading further, I found out I wasn't the only person to experience this issue. I found a few others that reported having the exact same problem. Stay away from this thing if you aren't looking to boil your fish!

This has grey and brown paint on it. When I initially cleaned it (before use) in my sink, I noticed the paint coming off. I used a scrub brush and most all of the paint came off, turning the water in the sink cloudy. After several scrubbings and changing the water, it quit shedding paint. Didn't look as cool following the paint removal. It's been in my aquarium for several months now, and no paint issues tank and fish are fine. I's collected its own natural "patina" from algea, etc, and now looks fine (about the way it did with the paint). Has a hollow upper portion and my Dinosaur Bicher and Brown Loach Eels reside in there. My plecostomii like to hang out in the sheltered mouth area. It's a good decoration just be sure to get all the loose paint off prior to use. I'd recommend...with caution.

I love the way this thing looked in my tank, but had to remove it! I took it out to as I was cleaning the aquarium and noticed a stong chemical-like odor coming from it. I have a lot of experience with aquariums, and of all the strange smells I have encountered this was different, bad... and unnatural. :( Very sad cause it looked awesome, now it's on our bookcase...

I use this as the main decoration in my 5 gallon tank and it looks great. I haven't had any problems with the paint peeling off either. You can see the gray putty that was used to glue the two pieces together, but once it's in the water it blends well.

I hate medicating a Fish tank but sometimes you have to. I had a Flower Horn Cichlid develop an eye infection that turned into Pop eye. This helped get him better and today he is fine. The product I received is NOT the one in the picture. The one pictured has organic looking bottom, and looks like a one piece design that's very 3 dimensional. But the one I received has a very industrial cheap end of plastic mold bottom. Worst, it's not one piece at all, it's just 2 totally separate flat pieces, that does not even clamp together or anything. I'm just too lazy to return it. DO NOT BUY THIS JUNK. Noway is this worth 6 bucks, maybe a dollar it's OK. 2 mold stamped flat pieces of plastic is not worth anything.

Just purchased this small round cage. It's a great deal and turned out pretty roomy. I'm not sure if it was intentional, but it came NOT as a light green color (as pictured). Instead it came with a yellow base, and a red hanging hook. I picked this particular product mostly because of the green color. I was pretty disappointed that the product description failed to mention that the colors would be random.

This is the first time I have used this type of pond cleaner. It's very different from the liquid cleaners. The tabs "bubble" a lot and copious amounts of yucky green algae surface to the water so it's easy to scoop out with a net.... I would recommend turning the hose on in the pond after the tabs dissolve & let the green goo run out with the water. The liquid cleaners just clean without the mess but both most likely have different merits.

The product worked very marginally, it really did not clear the algea from the pond, maybe in tropical climates the dosis should be higher, but in my case it did not worked at all.

First I have a Fish only live rock marine aquarium. 30 gallon. Ive got a fluval 304 canister filter and the prism skimmer. I bought this skimmer attachment because I wanted to remove the "scum" film from the top of the water. The item says it's a surface skimmer. I think that is stretching the definition of a surface skimmer. It draws water from the top inch of the aqauarium but it would be very difficult to get it to "skim" the surface all the time without constant adjustment. The problem is the height adjustment is mechanical. You have to move a lever and adjust the height of the surface skimmer, so after adjusting the surface skimmer to get a slight "waterfall effect" so that it is "skimming" the surface all is good until water evaporates and now not enough water is falling into the surface skimmer cup to keep up with the pump. I would have to top off the water in the tank and re adjust the surface skimmer cup everyday to get a true "Surface skim". I guess I will adjust it when I have time once a week to get the scum off the surface and then lower it the rest of the time so it will not starve itself of water when evaporation happens. It would be really nice if it had some type of flotation on it that would let the skimmer cup constantly adjust to the water level. It would be a 6 star if that was the case. Other than the adjustment issue. It seems to be built good and it fit onto the skimmer with no problem. I'm going to keep it and use it. I was not impressed with the options for surface skimmer intakes for the canister filter. They all stuck to the side of the aquarium with suction cups and well I have good luck with suction cups for about a week.

I think the bubbler part does an ok job of producing bubbles when plugged in but the bright lights can't be turned off and

my glofish doesn't like the lights. He will sit in one place and not move until the lights are off. So, I turned it on it's side so the lights are facing out of the tank and I actually think it's bubbling better b/c it's closer to the filter now. Wish I could turn the lights off but will work ok this way!

I recently set up a new, 5 gallon, aquarium without a definite idea about what fish I would like to have. I bought an inexpensive kit that contained the aquarium, filter, hood, lights... basic stuff. I set it up and let it run a few days and then headed to the fish store and got 4 Glofish. So cute!, but I didn't have a blue light to show off their colors. I found this bubbler yesterday and I think it works great. It is a little bright, but you could bury it in rock a little to subdue the brightness, or just not plug the a/c into the wall. The bubbles are great, if you want fewer bubbles buy a gang valve, which will allow you to adujust the amount of air going into the bubbler. All-in-all, I think the light creates a nice glow on my fish (the yellow/green fish glow best), and the bubbles add plenty of oxygen to my tank.

Product adds a nice LED bubble effect to GloFish aquarium. Bubbles are a bit strong for my little tetras in a five gallon tank and there is no off switch for the LED light that is emmitted from the bubbler. I just use a timer so I'm not bothered with turning it on & off.

It is inexpensive. There is no tubing or pump for the bubbler, so you are getting the LED disc only. The biggest problem with this is that the beam is very narrow, almost like a flashlight beam, so don't expect it to light up your tank. I surrounded the disc with rocks, then put a crystal my daughter had in her rock collection on top of it. It looks very cool.

I have a cat that insists to be let outside either by "begging" or just bolting out the door when the opportunity arises. He must also have a dog collar as he will intentionally snap-off and hide the cat collars. (and for the "Judgy-Bears" in the audience, no one makes Tigger do anything but he does not realize that he must carry his license and vaccine tags at all times. He has also been wearing a dog collar since 6 years ago when I finally bought a leather collar and trimmed it to fit him after he "lost" his 4th set of collar/tags the same day I purchased them. He is fine in his dog collar.)

As he does not make decisions based on how much sunlight there may be, I always feel better if he has a reflective collar. When I first saw the Lazer Brite brand of collar, the store did not carry the smaller dog size. I was happy to find the 8-12" version on Amazon but I am disappointed that this brand opted to make this size collar so incredibly narrow (and I fear Tigger will be able to break the collar's small buckle). But I am very happy with the reflectiveness! His last collar was a KONG for small dogs (5/8" wide) with reflective strips woven in but they were very small and hardly picked up the light. This collar is highly visible (and the skulls and crossbones are pretty bad-ass and compliment a cat that will chase the neighbor's large dogs out of our yard).

I will update on durability once the collar has received more use (or Tigger has disposed of it).
