My dog loves the Nina Ottosson products! I can't say enough about them and that's probably why I own 8 of them!

I got the Casino for his 2nd birthday and he had it figured it out in no time flat but what's great is that I can change it up-so its something different everytime I give it to him. Personally if you can find somewhere in person to look at the toys before you buy (found them cheaper on Amazon) so you can see if it something your dog can do-so you're not wasting your time or money.

My Maltese love this toy. However, they figured it out quickly. More difficult than Twister & definitely harder to do than the Brick. It is amazing how fast they learned & were able to do the necessary steps to get the treats from the drawers. My Maltese weigh 4.8LBS. & 6.8LBS. & are 11 & 12 years very young, so any size or age dogs can learn to play.

LOVE all of the Nina Ottosson games. This is relatively more difficult than most, as it pretty much requires the dog to use a paw to slide out the trays. One of my dogs is more inclined to use his paws and figured it out within a reasonable time; the other is more "mouthy" and got a bit frustrated the first few times. But in the end, they both learned to love it.

One more general comment: Some reviews of the Ottosson puzzles are critical because they're not "durable" enough. In my view, these are NOT toys that are best left totally unsupervised unless your dog has a super-soft mouth and isn't too interested in chewing. Once the puzzle is "solved" and the tid-bits are all gone, they should be taken up from the floor the toys are plastic and are not meant to be chew toys.

My Maltese is still working on figuring this one out. I tied strings to the drawers he had trouble getting them open once I tied the strings on, he pulled them open immediately. Have yet to add the bones to the puzzle. He loves playing this.

New Life Spectrum Thera A Large Fish 150g

I have 3 fancy goldfish (2-4" excluding tail), and this food is a good size for their mouths. It is a cylindrical pellet with a 3mm diameter, and just a little shorter in height than its diameter. NLS Thera A comes in other sizes for other fish. It has a garlic smell when you open the jar, and the fish seem to smell the pellets as soon as they hit the water. They love it.

Basicaly what the title says. They say its a large pellet for large fish but id like to see their version of a large fish. Any un-eaten food will get lodged in the gravel and is only removable by gravel vacuum. Even a small ammount un-eaten will make the aquarium start to emit a sickly-pungent odor of garlic and fish water, absolutely depleting any carbon or chemi-pure in your system unless taken care of the same day you notice the smell starting to form. This happened only after 4 days with a very small ammount of food fed per day. My oscar absolutely stopped touching it and spits it out. The only reason why i give this product a 2-star rating is because my red-devil tank loves it. but keep in mind that tank has no gravel for the food to get caught in.

Exotic Environments Castle Fortress with Gargoyles Aquarium Ornament, 10-Inch by 3-1/2-Inch by 5-1/

I gave this product 4 out of 5 stars, because it is smaller than it seems and there's a few key aspects not mentioned in the product description, so read on.

The castle measures just over 5.5 inches in height, just under 8.5 inches in length and 3 inches in width (width measured at the bottom).

From the picture you can't tell, but the main two windows only measure 1/2 an inch in width and .75 in height, so only small fish can fit through. Also, the top of the towers have very SMALL openings, about the size of a dime, so again, very small fish might be able to fit through. The openings do not have sharp edges, so no need to sand them.

The overall construction is actually very good, sturdy and nicely painted. If you plan to mod it somehow, you'll need a precise and strong tool, I would guess some kind of Dremel attachment. It's made of some kind of hardened plastic.

I ended up not using this castle in my aquarium, because it looked too small in it. I have a 50 gallon, oval shaped glass aquarium, so it has more height than length. I hope this helps. Good Luck.

Mermaid with Dolphin Ornament - 3.5 in. x 3.5 in. x 5 in.

and this one is perfect. Our 55 gallon freshwater tank is in my 8 year old son's room. I have always been fascinated w/ mermaids and really wanted one for our tank. When I first started looking 2.5 years ago, most were just a bit too grown-up for what I thought should be in my kid's room. (this one is a replacement for my original one that ended up covered in black algae due to my ignorance now that I'm wiser = had to replace my original one). Its cute, holds up well as long as you don't try to scrub algae off of it (if necessary, rinse and use your fingernail or a VERY soft bristle tooth brush and brush GENTLY).

We purchased three of these mermaids about six months ago for a freshwater aquarium. All of them have paint flakes missing, and it really came off in areas where we used an old, soft toothbrush to clean them. We're very disappointed that the paint does not stay on better.

Sicce Green Reset 25 Pressurized Pond Filter with UV

I been looking for a new filter for our approx 1000 gal pond, and past filters had just been a pain, as they would clog daily and cleaning them was a chore. I actually had one that the seam in the mold split. I was debating on another $70 cheaper filter, but after seeing some videos on each I decided this one was one for us. It was well worth it.

The filter out of the box seemed very solid, I was impressed by well it seemed to be made.

I hooked it up in minutes and had it working. However the UV was not working, I figured it just came lose during shipping so I un-screwed 3 screws and sure enough it did. The best thing is there is a clear peep hole at the top you just look at the top of the filter to see if its working, great idea. After reseating it I have not had an issue.

Now after about 5 days my pond has cleared up, and I am very impressed, the water flow from my 800Gal pump is great, the ease of use and cleaning I am glad I spent the extra money on this, as it was well worth it.

Update...The UV light for what ever reason burned out after about 3 to 4 weeks since I had it running, (good thing

they had this nice "peep" hole so you can see it. I contacted the vendor and with in a couple hours they already indicated they would get me another one. This vendor is outstanding, for thier support and product.

By the way, even though the light was out for a bit of time, this pond still remains clear and the best its look since I dug it quite a few years back. The filter is outstanding, the service is outstanding. This makes me and my life very happy :).

I have two of these lights (48" fugeray), one for about six months now, and one for about a month or two. Both are working fine so far, on a heavily planted 75 gallon freshwater tank.

I debated a while whether to give it four or five stars, because indeed, there is a single power cord, which means you cannot switch from daylights to moonlights with a timer. You can use a timer to switch the light on and off, but whichever lights are on or off (day or moon) is up to you. However, this is clearly in the description of the item, so I don't think it is fair to remove a star since it is as described, and not a surprise upon receipt. Nonetheless, the single power cord is a pain. If you need a 48" light fixture, chances are you're a pretty serious aquarist, and you want to use a timer, not manually turn daylights and moonlights on and off every single day. Still, as far as I can tell, you can buy two of these lights, one just for the daylights and one just for the moonlights, and still spend less than you would on the competition. In addition, few LED lights use LEDs that are appropriate for plant growth as this one does. The light runs fairly cool, it is bright, slim, and overall I think it is a great purchase at a great price.

If you want to save some money and you are decent with DIY projects, you can easily install a timer on these lights. Much easier than most DIY LEDs out there, because you already have all the components in one package, except the timer. A quick search on eBay for "digital timer relay switch" should find you the right timer (about $10). Make sure it is the 12V version (even though the light power supply provides 15V, I've had no problems using these timers with it; the rectangular looking timers with a yellow tab on eBay). The timer and some wires is all you need (maybe a small enclosure box from Radio Shack to make it look nice). Installed between the light power supply and the actual lighting unit (you do have to open up the light itself to connect three wires or so), the timer will provide you with more than a dozen easily programmable lighting events, including time of day and day of the week. In other words, this timer will provide MUCH more flexibility than any other standard timer out there. The only drawback is that it will only switch directly between daylights and moonlights; but that's fine by me. Installed six months ago, everything still running smoothly, and best of all, by itself! (Also installed on the newer light, working fine now for at least a month.) FYI, I'm not an engineer or an electrician, or anything like that, so it's really not that difficult to do. As for being able to send it back for warranty work, that's up to you, if you're careful... Must I really say: "Do this at your own risk, I am not responsible if you screw things up."? Done.

I don't understand why Finnex didn't install something like that themselves, they could easily do it for less than $20 (I did), and I'm sure they would sell much, MUCH better with a built-in timer.

Died after exactly 3 months of use.

I like this light (which is why I'm still giving it 3 stars) and am working with the warranty on the fixture, but finding a new box and shipping this back isn't exactly cheap. Not to mention, my plants that were growing so nicely will now take huge steps backward. Just 3 months for an LED light fixture? And I've got the tank covered so this isn't a moisture issue. Pretty disappointed right now.

However, I'll get a chance to experience their warranty service. With good service on that front and a replacement/repair that lasts as it should I'll be back to bump this rating back up to at least 4 stars. No manufacturer I know has a 100% success rate on manufacturing defect and durability. So... we'll see!

1st... I'm a noob to reef tanks. That said... I started out a few weeks ago with an older setup that had 4x T8 VHO's in it. They blew after 2 weeks of use. Saw that coming though (little earlier than I had hoped). Anyhow... had a Coralife 4x t5 and Halide combo light for a 120g setup that I used while I shopped around. Saw this light and decided to give it a try (my reef is a 55g).

Pros:

-Runs VERY cool (heat free really).

-Good light output for a live plant or fish only setup.

-Gives a good shimmer in the water.

-Sits well on the tank. Not too high... not too low.

Cons:

-NOT bright enough alone for a reef setup.

-Does NOT have a way to seperate the moon lights for timers (on one power source).

-Switches are on each side of the light. BARELY accessable with my cover on top... but it does work.

I pared it with a Coralife T5 setup (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000HHQDKM/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00. $58 here on Amazon) and I'm very happy with the setup. Just under $200 for a NICE reef light setup. Time will tell though if these were good purchases.

While I am a noob... I have been all the way around the block now on lighting options in a short time on this tank so when I say it's not bright enough... I'm comparing it to my other lighting sources that I had/have.

All in all... this is a good light (again... NOT good enough as the ONLY light for a reef tank though IMHO). I think it's a little overpriced maybe... but not WAY off (compared to buying a light setup in a pet store... this IS a FAR better deal from what I've seen).

Como Aquarium Artificial Duckweed Floating Plastic Green White Plant

They are rather large so they are best suited for a larger tank. We're not talking about a Beta tank, here. 5 gallons at least.

They are made of stiff plastic and will most likely come to you with their white tendrils flattened, so they need bending.

It's a cool idea for larger tanks but they are a bit sharp and you would need about two orders to have a nice display in a 10-15 gallon tank.

I bought this to go in my betta 1 gallon tank. It is just enough to cover 1/3 of the surface area so not to interferer with feeding.I have a live Java fern and Java moss in the tank also. I like the shadows this adds to the tank. I am going to buy more for my 2 1/2 gallon tank. I have bought real giant duckweed but don't have enough light for its survival.

Very cheesy. I thought I would use these in my tank with other live plants but they looked terrible. Most of them don't float correctly and they get caught up on decorations. I wouldn't purchase them again.

Kent Marine Nano Reef Parts A and B

I love this mix, although you have to remember to put the B complex in 5 minutes later. I love the results and haven't had happier corals. Complete complex for a beginners tank, loved the easy application and indications. Super easy for beginners.

I can't comment yet on the product effectiveness, but shipping leaves a bit to be desired. Each bottle has a foil seal under the cap, but one of them was completely separated and the cap was not very tight. Whether this was due to the manufacturer packing, Amazon's shipping, or warehouse handling is unknown. There was a small amount of leakage and the solution dried into a white crusty wet substance on the bottle...kinda like condensed salt creep you would find on a reef setup.

I use this for both of my tanks.. a 28g and a 20g. I have never had an issue with it. I've read reviews that where negitive, and say to use higher priced brands.. I have sps, lps, nps, and softies in my tank and they all have good growth, my levels are always steady and within perfect range of where they are supposed to be. so I ordered this just to control the amount of air being pumped into my fishbowl (if the pump was going full plast the poor little guy would be sent whriling around the bowl). It works pretty well. The knob sometimes slipps off if you turn it too far and there isnt' anything to anchor the tube to anything outside the bowl. There are several control valves and an equal number of splitters to divide the airflow to extra bowls.I'd reccomend this only if you have two fish bowls or just want to regulate the air flow to one bowl.

I installed two airstones in my tank and could not keep them from popping up and whipping around, no matter how I tried to bury the tubing. I found this product and it works great. The suction cups stick to the side of the tank well and have not popped off yet. The tubing is held in place as well as the airstones. It also comes with valve controls which are great to adjust the flow of the air through the airstones. It was inexpensive and well worth the purchase.

First I have a Fish only live rock marine aquarium. 30 gallon. Ive got a fluval 304 canister filter and the prism skimmer. I bought this skimmer attachment because I wanted to remove the "scum" film from the top of the water. The item says it's a surface skimmer. I think that is stretching the definition of a surface skimmer. It draws water from the top inch of the aqauarium but it would be very difficult to get it to "skim" the surface all the time without constant adjustment. The problem is the height adjustment is mechanical. You have to move a lever and adjust the height of the surface skimmer, so after adjusting the surface skimmer to get a slight "waterfall effect" so that it is "skimming" the surface all is good until water evaporates and now not enough water is falling into the surface skimmer cup to keep up with the pump. I would have to top off the water in the tank and re adjust the surface skimmer cup everyday to get a true "Surface skim". I guess I will adjust it when I have time once a week to get the scum off the surface and then lower it the rest of the time so it will not starve itself of water when evaporation happens. It would be really nice if it had some type of flotation on it that would let the skimmer cup constantly adjust to the water level. It would be a 6 star if that was the case. Other than the adjustment issue. It seems to be built good and it fit onto the skimmer with no problem. I'm going to keep it and use it. I was not impressed with the options for surface skimmer intakes for the canister filter. They all stuck to the side of the aquarium with suction cups and well I have good luck with suction cups for about a week.

This could be a good product it says it floats and it did for awhile "moves in tank" so I suctioned it to the sides but the suction cups it came with tore the just aren't that great so if u have some fish friendly suction cups it may work good. It's a cool double decker fry tank but the second layer clip was broke assumedly due to USPS it did ship all the way from Hong Kong. Need one that hooks on the side

Mardel 5-in-1 Test Strips (Freshwater/Saltwater)

I love keeping fish but I am lazy. The constant test tube tests drive me crazy and my local fish stores say that it is the only way to go. Going against their advice, I've been using these strips exlusively for more than a year and they have been fast, easy and seemingly accurate, since my aquarium has been extremely stable. Initially, I would compare the PH readings with the test tube, and these strips readings were consistent.

I recommend these!

These strips are easy to use, except for the pH test. There isn't much difference between the oranges on the comparison chart for the pH and the pH strip color doesn't match anything on the bottle. I've been using a liquid pH test that seems to be more accurate (or at least easier to read).

Make sure to wait the full minute for the Nitrate test becuase the color takes a while to develop.

These strips are easy to use, but I didn't notice that they only have a limited shelf life and the following season they were inaccurate. I checked and they'd expired. The 100 count is probably more than you'll use in one year. But it you're aware of this they do save a lot of time. But the price is high for one season of testing.

The strips were a terrible buy. I thought they were working in the beginning, but every time I used a strip it never changed. The alkalinity portion of the strip would change to a color that wasn't listed on the bottle.

These strips scream efficiency, but I would suggest just getting the tube tests.

I have four established fish tanks. I use these strips weekly to make sure my tanks are not having any issues. I've been using these strips for 5 years and work well. Note that they have limited shelf life of about a year. Check the bottom of the container for expiration date. You can tell when they age because the pink test colors are faded. I was surprised to see other reviewers complain that these strips failed to change color. You can test these strips with household products. I also have test tube based kits but these strips have always agreed with the results. I have freshwater tropical fish of the more common variety and they aren't extremely fussy about the pH range or water hardness: cory cats, tetras, loaches, green spotted puffers, guppies, barbs, chocolate gouramis. If you have fish that require very exact water conditions, perhaps strips may not be for you. I find them to be an excellent product and because it's so quick and easy, I actually do test my water weekly.

This is a nice tank. It seems pretty solidly made, if a bit fragile (it is made of glass, after all). The major drawback is its lack of lid/cover. Since I have tropical aquatic plants and animals in this tank, it's pretty important to have a lid due to heat and smell. I'm going to get an acrylic lid cut to shape and size at a local plastics manufacturer, but I imagine that isn't an option for most people. In the interim, I have a rectangular piece of plexiglass sitting on top, and it kind of spoils the clean aesthetic effect. Still, it's a lovely tank, and I'm glad I bought it.

It is attractive and well made. How ever it holds only a little more than 2 gallons...NOT 3. Also can not purchase a lid for it.

The clarity of this glass is just crystal. Really. It looks as transparent as genuine crystal and the float is just flawless. It can be hard to see in the illustration but the curved front of the tank is beveled which makes the tank appear even more jewel-like and dressy enough to proudly display in the front office. It's is an impressive piece of glass work!

This is a great tank. Superb craftsmanship, and just simply beautiful. No rim so it looks nice and sleek. As to the comments it is not 3 gallons....kind of a fib. It is 3 gallons (or 2.96 gallons which is essentially 3 gallons) Non tempered glass so you can drill these tanks! Awesome, Awesome!
