I have three of these 24" units over my 72" long 125 gallon tank.

They are great for my purposes of growing plants, but I will give the pros and cons as I suspect that the negatives may outweigh the positives to many people.

Pros:

Great lighting that makes the tank and the fish look gorgeous!

My tank is freshwater, and I can grow any kind of plant I want with these lights! I also credit Purigen and Sea Chem fertilizers for my success with plants).

As my tank is filled with new growths of easy plants that tolerate less light but flourish in higher illumination like java moss or hornwort almost every week, I routinely produce new plants for my other tanks with standard T8 lighting.

Cons:

Because these lights are bright, they run hot, making the fan on the fixture loud. One of my three lights routinely gets stuck in a noise pattern in which a hum developed near the fan vent which is on the top of the fixture and keeps getting louder and LOUDER. Although I can quiet the light by (gently) thwacking on the fan, I doubt that this is very good for the light in the long run! The noise overwhelms any noise coming from my Eheim and Penn Plax canister filters, so if you are noise sensitive forget these lights unless you are good at fixing this type of thing.

There are TWO light bulbs on the fixture, and a replacement light bulb for these fixtures are quite expensive, so you have to shop around in order to spend a bundle on a light bulb.

Again, the look of my planted aquarium and the production of plants outweighs these (admittedly big) negatives to me, but you must decide for yourself.

I needed a light fixture of this length for a project. The fixture had to be of good quality and very reliable-no funky power failures or over-heating. This unit has performed flawlessly. It looks great and works great. NO problems. Buy with confidence.

I had to replace a 10 year old aquarium heater, and on the advice of a pet store owner, he pointed me to this product by Petco. I have a 55 gallon aquarium, and he recommended the 300 watt size as it is efficient and will maintain a consistent water temperature no matter what the air temperature. I have found his advice to be trustworthy and true. I placed the heater in the middle of the aquarium (on the back wall it attaches with two suction cups), set the thermostat for 76 degrees, and I have not had to touch it since. It is the best heater I have had for my aquarium. It's slim design makes it less noticeable. Due to its overall length, it cannot be used in shorter walled aquariums. It will heat aquariums up to 90 gallons. The price was great too. I am sold on this product and give it 5 stars.

Aquatic Fundamentals 50/65 Upright Gallon Aquarium Stand

It's holding a water filled 50gal tank with plants,three ornaments, 50lbs gravel, and filter. No wobble,and looks really beautiful. The assembly was fairly easy. The parts were labled, and the instruction sheet was easy enough for me to follow. I was dissapointed that there wasn't a shelf in the unit, or a back board, which I think would have enhanced the structural integrity. I am still pleased with the unit and would recommend it to anyone looking for a large tank stand.

A word of warning! It was not easy to assemble. For someone who has not put together furniture before, the directions were rather baffling. Once I sat down and slowly figured it out, it made perfect sensebut it did take a great deal of effort on my part. If you are not good at assembly, beware!

This stand is holding my 50g freshwater tank with 40lbs of sand and decorations. It does its job and looks nice and clean. It shipped with a little scratch. If i noticed this scratch when i was building it i would have pointed the scratch inward for none to see. my 4 foot aquarium is longer than the stand but it is appealing. Overall i like it.

Oceanic 36011 BiocubeMini Ultraviolet Sterilizer, 5-Watt

I've struggled for years to control the algae in my 14 gallon saltwater Oceanic Biocube. Keeping the tank light off, removing 1/2 the bioballs and replacing them with live rock rubble, installing a protein skimmer, and doing weekly water changes (25%) helped control the algae, but didn't entirely cure the problem. After much reading on various aquarist blogs and forums, in my quest for a solution, I purchased the Oceanic Mini Ultraviolette Sterilizer. I wasn't sure that 5 watts would be strong enough for my tank (9 watts is said to be better), but it proved to be just fine for my small tank. Once I got the hose cut to the correct length, the Sterilizer installed in only a few minutes with the use of tools. I've had the Sterilizer installed for nearly a month now, and the tank water is crystal clear. The fish seem much happier too, since they no longer need to live in the dark. I read that the UV bulb needs to be changed every 6 months to retain effectiveness, so I'll be sure to do that. If you struggle with algae in your tank this Sterilizer is a worth buying because it works as promised.

A friend had told me that ultraviolet sterilization was the only way to get crystal-clear aquarium water. He recommended a $50 Fluval sterilizer that I could only find online; I didn't want to wait so I bit the bullet and picked up this model at a local pet shop.

I grimaced a bit at the $89 price tag but I was desperate: My 30-gallon tank was so murky from a stubborn bacteria bloom that I couldn't even see the back of it.

The following day I noticed a BIG difference. Five mornings after installing this sterilizer, I had CRYSTAL-CLEAR water!

I couldn't be happier. Get this, plus a small submersible pump for around $15, and you're in business. You don't necessarily have to have a Bio-Cube; my sterilizer and pump are simply hanging by their cords in the back of my regular tank, behind some plants.

This is a great compact effective sterilizer for nano cubes up to 29 gallons. It's crafted specifically for Oceanic/Coralife Biocubes, but includes a universal adapter for other nano cubes. If you have a Biocube, this will hook up to existing pump. If you don't have Biocube, then you need to have a pump. Recommend Cobalt Aquatics MJ1200 which is original Maxijet still built in Italy. Works great and has kept my saltwater crystal clear. The biggest mistake that many people make is to run cheaper sterilizers on 24/7 basis. This will only result in burning out bulbs quickly, but you don't really need round the clock sterilization. I run mine for only 24hrs weekly and is effective. The more expensive high-end sterilizers ($200) have better build quality and can handle being run 24/7. Keep this mind when using any inexpensive sterilizers and you'll be alright. Keep an extra bulb on hand too.

Acurel LLC 100-Percent Polyester Filter Fiber, 8-Ounce

I use Filter Fiber to polish the water now and again. It did a good job. Is cheap and easy to replace. The only issues is now and again a little piece will escape in your tank. No matter how much you compact it. Still it's worth it to polish the water. I'd recommend getting filter fiber in sheet form that you can easily cut and place in your filter. That way you won't have to worry about compacting it or any potential pieces floating out of your HOB filter.

If you prefer this form, it is a quality product.

This is a really great filter material for your aquarium. The bag they send you is really big. It should last a long time.

My dog is a very heavy chewer. He has only pushed the squeaker up inside this toy so far...he's had the toy for 3 days now. This might be a new record for him to not entirely destroy it!! Very good toy for powerful chewers.

My greyhound (RIP) loved squeaky toys, and for her it was all about removing the squeaker, but this toy held up to her gnawing. There is very thick rubber around the squeaker on the bottom of the toy. She was never able to get it out. My new pitbull girl inherited the toy and she has carried it around, chewed on it, but it still squeaks! And there aren't chunks missing from it. I had purchased KONG Goodie Bone Dog Toy, Medium, Red, and it holds up, but but not really a fun chew toy, it is good for sticking treats in. This bone Nylabone Dura-Chew Double Action Combo Bone Chew Toy, Souper was a waste, she chewed all the green rubber off in an hour and doesn't touch it now. Finally this toy Kong Genius Leo Treat Dispensing Dog Toy was good for a few sessions, the neck was chewed off, and the little flaps holding the treats in were delicately chewed off.

This freaky squeaky is a funny looking toy, good to throw and have your dog chase. And it is a good price. I would buy it again, but so far I don't have to.

The toy was a big hit with our boston terrier and lab, german Shepard mix. The toy was a bit smaller than what I expected, I will choose a bigger size next time! The squeaker lasted about a week, but in our house, that is a long time. Even with the squeaker not working, the dogs still love to chew on this toy!

There's not much to review here. This product is just a box full of 300 spheres that are intended to be put into an aquarium filter. I didn't count to verify the quantity, but it seems about right. The approximate volume of all these balls packed together is 765 cubic inches of media or 3.312 gallons. (a box 8" by 8.5" by 11.25")

The manufacturing process seems good and all of the balls appear to be properly shaped; I didn't find any deformed, misshapen, or broken spheres yet. As for performance, that's really up to how you install them. For the nitrification bacteria to work, the microbes need oxygen and a supply of dirty aquarium water. If everything is working correctly this reaction will happen in the filter: ammonia ==> nitrite ==> nitrate ==> nitrogen. During use, these balls need to be rinsed off every now-and-again, just be sure to wash them in old aquarium water (not in city tap water because the chlorine will kill all the friendly bacteria).

I say 5 stars out of 5 because the price is about average and the quality is good.

Not a remedie. This is the cure for pond algae and unwanted chemicals. I have had my 2500 gallon pond for 3 years. I have the top of the line filter with ultra violet light filters and the works. I even have an activated carbon chamber. I will tell you, all of them combined, could not do what these biospheres did. Do yourself a favor and put an end to your misery. This is it.

first off, there is a Freshwater version which includes 2 6500k bulbs vs the marine model that comes with the actinic the previous reviewer didn't sniff around!

i have a FW planted tank, the coverage is good, the lights are bright (not sure of the quality) and easy to set up.

cons:

1. only 1 plug for both lights. not a big deal, but if you have an algae problem, sometimes lessening wattage can help but turning off bulb. there are switches though, so i guess that would work.

2. No fan switches. the fans are mildly loud brand new, and i guarantee you after a couple of months they will start howling.

3. end caps are NOT water proof, or even water-resistant for that matter. really strange to not include this feature. sure it comes with a replaceable acrylic cover, but to think its not in a humid environment is ignorant. no way would i put this on a marine tank.

Received the light in good shape, but wish that amazon had recommended that I purchase the optional legs ($8) to be able to mount it on top of my 46 gal bowfront tank. Also realized that it should have clearly stated that this lighting configuration is for saltwater aquariums, NOT freshwater. Good general design, although I'm not sure why the fan is only connected to one of the two light switches?? Doesn't seem to be a problem so far... we'll see whether the bulb life is impacted. Had it for a bit more than 2 months with no problems, other than needing to swap out the actinic bulb for a 55 watt daylight (6700 K) bulb. Plants none the worse for the experience, but the algae got a bit out of control as a result. (Hint: both 55 watt and 65 watt straight 4 pin bulbs will work in this fixture.) It can be used for freshwater, but you need to change the bulb that's included.

Lee's The Ultimate Gravel Vac 25' Kit

I have three (soon to be five) tanks, and after setting up the third I quickly realized that lugging buckets for all of them twice a week just wasn't an option. I purchased the Lee's gravel vac and haven't looked back since! It is wonderful, and works perfectly. It is true that the plastic adapter that it comes with must be replaced, but $6 and a trip to the hardware store solves that issue. It hardly makes the product "useless", unless you're ridiculous enough to toss it over such a small issue. The lower price point more than makes up for the small fix.

It is an identical product to some of the pricier ones (such as Python), but works just as well. I would highly recommend it to anyone with multiple tanks or with large tanks who is tired of hauling buckets!

Great tool for cleaning/refilling, I use it on my 10 gal tank and it working great, also used it on my beta tank. I would recommend it to anyone looking for an easy in tank maintenance.

I ordered this product mainly to clean my 95 gallons fish pond. It does a great job. For my fish tank though, the tube is too long for the kitchen sink water pressure. I've had a python for 5 years and was stupid last time I put it away and didn't make sure all the water was out of it and behold, mold! I was looking for something fast on here (since I have prime) and not overly expensive. Lee's was always at the pet store so figured I'd try it. I've used this same gravel vac for about 15 years before the plastic became brittle with age and had to be replaced. The hose is long enough to reach from our family room to the basement sink through an air vent. The only problem I've experienced is that the valve that is used to regulate the water either to the sink or to the aquarium leaks some making it a little inefficient. It just takes a little longer to fill the aquarium.

When I started to use these as a boots to the growth of my vegetation, I didn't realize that it could help that much. I had all kinds of algae growth in the tank.

Let me 1st start off by saying techically the light is a 5 start product! I have NO problem with the light, works perfect with my MH fixture. The low stars are because the person(s) who is packaging these puts the light in a long box, tapes it, and shipped it, WITHOUT ANY packaging material (no paper, no foam, etc.). Of course, when you ship a light bulb without any 'cushioning' it arrives broken in pieces. My order was for ONE bulb, but they had to re-ship it 4 TIMES because it kept showing up broken because none of the packages contained packaging.

1st buld shattered NO packaging (amazon re-shipped)

2nd bulb shattered NO packaging (amazon re-shipped)

3rd bulb shattered NO packaging (amazon re-shipped)

4th bulb arriced undamged still NO packaging (LUCKY)

I'm a prime member so all these were shipped 2nd day so this process took a little over a week to finally get a undamaged one. However, if you are a normal member and pick the free shipping and keep getting broken lights this could be a month process (depending on what Amazon would do for you) I provided feedback on the shipping (lack of packaging) on every light but it did not make a difference. I even called Amazon (reps were great), but they said it would take a couple weeks for them to make contact with the warehouse to straighten it out.

I hope Amazon has or will correct this issue soon as they light is great and at a great price. If Amazon address this issue (and lets me know) I will be more than happy to up my stars to 5 for the actual product.
