I had to replace a 10 year old aquarium heater, and on the advice of a pet store owner, he pointed me to this product by Petco. I have a 55 gallon aquarium, and he recommended the 300 watt size as it is efficient and will maintain a consistent water temperature no matter what the air temperature. I have found his advice to be trustworthy and true. I placed the heater in the middle of the aquarium (on the back wall it attaches with two suction cups), set the thermostat for 76 degrees, and I have not had to touch it since. It is the best heater I have had for my aquarium. It's slim design makes it less noticeable. Due to its overall length, it cannot be used in shorter walled aquariums. It will heat aquariums up to 90 gallons. The price was great too. I am sold on this product and give it 5 stars.konedog
