Mini Heater - 10 Watt
If anyone doesn't know what I mean by the "pump compartment of the tank" just look up some of the Fluval aquarium filtration systems and how they are built in to the tank.
Hope this helps ! For me this heater is PERFECT !!!I bought this heater for a 2 gallon tank that houses one Betta fish. I live in Southern California, so the ambient room temp is around 70 degrees, but wanted to get the water 6-8 degrees warmer for his comfort. I bought this heater and thought with its claim to hold a constant 78 degree temp I'd be set. I left for a weekend and when we came back the water was 90 degrees! (Thankfully our Betta appears to be alright) I definitely do NOT recommend this heater. It's far too hot for a small tank.

I live in Northern California and just got a betta a few days ago as a christmas present. He's in a one gallon tank for now. I noticed the next morning he was not moving and thought he may be cold. After googling and realizing they are supposed to be kept between 70 and 80 degrees, I freaked out and bought this heater from a shop around the corner (it was the only one they had) along with a thermometer. THEN I decided to read the reviews on amazon. I panicked after seeing all these terrible reviews and didn't know what to do. I didn't want to boil my fish but, now that i had a thermometer, i knew my fish's tank was 58 degrees! I figured he would prob die from freezing before i could get another heater so i just held my breath and plugged this one in and went to bed.Next morning he was 74 degrees!! YAY! All was right with the world. I worried about him while at work but came home and he was still at 74 degrees! I think this product works just fine if you actually live in a cold climate. If you live in San Diego, well then you probably don't need a heater in the first place. We got this heater because our betta fish, Marco, needed to be warmer. We plugged it in and went to the zoo. When we came back, Marco was laying on the ground dead and the water was at 92 degrees! Marco was my favorite fish!

Laguna PowerGlo Mini Pond Light Kit

These lights work just fine in my 10 x 8 koi pond. I placed them in the middle at the bottom. I pointed one at each end and left the one in the middle shine up to the top. Not to bright but just enough. For the price you can't beat them. Even my fish like them!Read Best Reviews of Laguna PowerGlo Mini Pond Light Kit Here
I purchased these lights less than 6 months ago and one by one, all the lights burned out. I'm going to have to contact Laguna to get them replaced. Also the cord connecting the 3 lights is way too short to accomplish anything fancy in my small 1000gal Koi pond!Love this light set up. I have it in a very small pond, 50 gallons with shower fountain. It looks like hot lava! This would not be for medium or large ponds, unless you just wanted to highlight a waterfall or small fountain. The lights are small and so is the distance between each one. The price you can't beat, but I wish it was a solar unit. We're going to put it on an outdoor timer to save on energy though the night.Thursday, June 19, 2014

These replacement pads are at least as good as the originals, and fit the filter canister perfectly. If you're careful when cleaning them, they will last for several yearsWant Tetra Clear Choice Biofilter Replacement Pads Discount?
It's a good product; the carbon filter always seems to break down a lot sooner than the pre-filter. You have to take care when cleaning the carbon filter as it will break apart if cleaning it with too high of water pressure, use the lowest water pressure that you can use possible to extend the life of the carbon filter.Sunday, June 1, 2014

Great product!! Skims very well. It takes a little while to break in however. Instructions are horrible. But would recommend to others! It skims like no other . It just need a drain line on the cup.it fit perfectly behind my aquariumI bought this protein skimmer for my 75 gallon tank because I do not have enough room in the sump for one of the in-sump skimmers (I have since turned my sump into large refugium that only houses the heater and GFO reactor). I know that it says it needs to have at least 2 days to break in, but it was pulling out a dark, thick skimmate from the first day that it was working. I chose not to use the sponges that came with the unit, but I still do not have any issues with microbubbles going into the main tank. It is fairly quiet, and I would say VERY quiet compared to the other skimmer that this replaced on my tank. It is strong and durable with a very powerful pump. No leaks and no issues thus far. I am very pleased with this skimmer and I would recommend it to anyone who has a tank 100 gallons or less who does not have enough room in the sump for a comparable sized in-sump skimmer.Saturday, March 15, 2014

This product does what it says and breaks down solid waste and makes your filters last much longer. It doesnt take much either, good product. This Waste Remover works wonderfully, it is somewhat pricey but if it works then stick with it. I use this weekly to supplement my bacterial load in the gravel, to break down the waste and uneaten food particles. It can also be used directly in your filter housing to keep the build-up in check, especially inside the tubes and connections.Thursday, January 30, 2014
Petco Bookshelf Freshwater Fish Aquarium
The tank LOOKS much bigger than it is because of the length, and it also has more surface area than many 6 gallon tanks. The surface area is important for gas exchange, so this is a big plus.
The bulb that comes with the tank isn't the best for live plants, but it's a size and type that is readily available at any big-box DIY store. I replaced the original bulb with a 6700 Kelvin (daylight) one for about $7, and the tank looks much better for it. The plants are much happier, too!
The only flaws are that the plastic is VERY easy to scratch, and the tank tends to leak from under the top trim. Lift the trim off the tank, lay down a bead of silicone sealant and replace the trim this will stop the leaking.
Overall, this is a good deal and a very nice tank. I would recommend this to a friend.Shipping time: Great as this arrived aprox 4 days from Amazon purchase date
Packaging: Everything was either boxed or plastic wraped or both.
Dimensions: as it is 24 long by 8 deep and 12 high, it has alot of floor surface area. This was ideal as my tank inhabitants are bottom dwellers. MUCH more space than other small gallon/desktop tanks.
Price: Super for what you get. I did add filter media (5-10 gal sponge and white ceramic bio)from my local pet shop, small heater, bubble wand and my own decorations.
Cover and light: There is a small lid for feeding in the front. The clear acrylic topper has lots of punch outs for addition needs ( like air tubes and heaters). The light works just fine and has a bluish glow. This is easily upgraded.

First off, this is a good tank. Well packaged, good construction and components. Very attractive, excellent shape for 6.5 gallons. Looks bigger than it is. The acrylic is nice and sturdy and in my experience was not easily scratched. The filter seems to work well, pretty quiet and can be dialed from low to high depending on your fish needs. The light works fine and the hood has a convenient door for feeding the fish. In order to access the inside of the tank, you must first lift off the light fixture and set it down somewhere. Then underneath there is a clear plastic lid that your remove and set aside and then you can access the inside of the tank. I recommend this tank as a good value and it's unique dimensions for a small tank are very attractive. Don't plan on putting much in this tank however, at 6.5 gallons it is only suited for maybe 1 betta and a bottom dweller or two.Read Best Reviews of Petco Bookshelf Freshwater Fish Aquarium Here
I received this tank as a Christmas present for my betta. I really adore it! You can't fill it up above the rim because the rims actually pop off. Because there isn't an actual seal the water leaks right out if you fill it above the rim. While it's slightly annoying, I appreciate that in the future I could run this as a rimless tank if I could furnish a different sort of lighting (the rim is required to support the light fixture). It's difficult to find nice rimless tanks in this price range so I'm pretty happy about that. While my betta lived in a 10 gallon tank before so this may seem like a downgrade, he actually has much more usable space and loves to zoom from one side of the tank to the other. :) The dimensions are just lovely for bettas and really pretty much any fish. It has the same proportions as a 20 gallon long, just mini. I put it side by side with a 10 gallon tank and it's 2-3 inches longer, but of course much shorter and thinner.
I cant comment on the filter because I just used the filter I already had running in my 10 gallon-an Aquaclear 20.
There was some cloudy-looking whitish substance on the glass when I filled it up (it wasn't visible when the tank was empty) [***EDIT: I figured out what was going on with that-I was using a sand substrate and the residue from it left a film on the walls of the tank. I discovered this once I used the same sand in a completely different, old tank I had lying around and the same thing happened. So this is NOT the fault of the manufacturer of this aquarium.***] but it rubbed off easily with my finger. I didn't rinse the tank, though, so that might have prevented it. Once I removed the cloudy-looking stuff the tank is crystal clear. It is acrylic so you should only use micro-fiber on the outside and an algae scrubber made for acrylic on the inside-glass scrubbers WILL scratch this aquarium. Luckily there are products on the market that remove scratches (I can't vouch for their effectiveness, though, as I haven't used them) if you have a slip up. I really like that acrylic tanks like this one have no seams on the edges like glass tanks do, where they were bonded with silicone.
Also, this is a bowfront tank but because it's so long the bow is very slight, so there is literally no distortion. Which is awesome.
The light fixture isn't the best. At first it kept going out and turning on again like the bulb wasn't staying in correctly. I haven't had a problem in the past couple days though. I'm also going to change the bulb to a daylight bulb (6500 K) because it is better for growing plants. I really like the fact that the piece supporting the light is clear throughout, because it allows you to stick another light fixture behind it (I will post pictures explaining what I mean by this) for greater watts per gallon (only important for live plants). The second fixture I used, which is the same size as the one that comes with the tank, was for an 10 imperial gallon tank (this is about 12 US gallons, but the proportions are different for UK and US tanks).
Overall I am very very happy with this tank. Best gift I got this year. :D
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I think I figured out the deal with the hood/light. When I changed the bulb I realized that the one that comes with the aquarium is a few centimeters smaller than a standard 15 watt, 18 inch florescent bulb. If you buy a new bulb it will have a tighter fit (but not too tight--the light it comes with is too loose) and it will stay in place better. It kept turning off on me because the old bulb would slip slightly out of alignment. I have no idea why they would include a non-standard size bulb in what appears to be standard size hood, but that seems to be what's going on. A new bulb (which can be easily found at Wal-Mart) does the trick. [EDIT: Two weeks with the new bulb and no problems at all. It cost me $8 at Wal-Mart, but cheaper ones can be bought if you don't have live plants.]I purchased the Petco Bookshelf aquarium through Amazon and I am THRILLED with it. I did it in an Asian theme and it is beautiful. Aqua colored gravel, a pagoda, bridge, bamboo and grasses. My blue Betta thinks he is in heaven! I love the long syle of it. At 6.6 gallons, it gives fish lots of horizontal room to swim the whole length of the 24" tank and plenty of room for plants and decor. The flourescent light brings out the colors of the ornaments and makes the betta glow with beauty. The pump and filtration system work nicely and my pump is quiet. It was shipped VERY quickly, I got it within 2 and a half days, and it came double boxed. Inside the main box it was packed really nice. The tank itself was inside a plastic type bag to help minimize scratches. For the price, it is better than anything I have seen at local pet stores. I'm thinking of getting another one I like it so much. If you are thinking of getting an aquarium, don't let this one pass you by. I think you will more than happy with it. Thanks for reading my review and hope it helps!

biOrb Life Aquarium
UPDATE (1 Year): Just wanted to quickly update my experience with these tanks. It has been a year since I bought them and my fish are healthy and still no loses. I am still using the supplied air pumps with out any noise problems. If you are careful you shouldn't have to worry about scratching the acrylic, my tanks still look as good as the day I bought them. Only drawbacks are the small feeding holes and you can only get one hand/arm through the top of the tanks when setting up and cleaning, this can make it difficult when trying to reach the bottom of the 16 gallon tank because of how tall it is.I have had this this fish-tank (the 8gal Bio Life) for a few weeks now.
I added the ceramic media, and conditioned the water with Stress Coat and Stress Zyme, Installed the filter which was a breeze! and let it run without fish for over a week so the tank could settle.
I also made sure that the temperature was stable for the fish that I wanted to keep. I live in Jamaica, where it is mostly warm, but we have a air-conditioner in the living room where the tank is so it can get a bit cooler than normal.
All other water parameters were good, meaning Ammonia, PH, Nitrate, and Nitrite Levels were all good.
Now it was time to add the fish, Not to overload the tank, I am starting out with a group of 4 Neon Tetras (I will add 4 more in a month to make it a school). I know they are not the recommended starter fish for a New Tank, but I thought I would give it go seeing that all tested conditions were good.
I have to say I was a bit worried at first with all the information on the Net saying how hard Tetras were, and that you definitely need a heater etc. etc., I has been over a week, and I am glad to say that my fish seem very happy, and tank is doing fine! and without a heater. I even grew some brine shrimp to give them a treat, and they ate them readily!
I really love this tank it is not only beautiful to look at, it is so convenient in every way! Here are my Likes and Dislikes:
Likes:
Beautiful A Work of Art
Convenient Adequate Filter System So Far
Convenient Feeding Hole.
LED Lighting to mimic real light situations and saves energy.
It's Acrylic which is stronger than glass! Also, not many people realize, but Acrylic does not Conduct the Outside Temperature to the Water inside the tank very readily because Acrylic is a poor heat/cold conductor. So it keeps your water at a more stable temperature than a glass one. (see for yourself, place ice inside a glass, and place some in a plastic cup which one can you feel more cold on the outside? The Glass of course.
Comes Complete with almost everything that you will need to start (You will still need a Net, a fish tank water changer/cleaner, and more fish food and water conditioners, and replacement media)
Note: To save on buying replacement filters, buy just one more Replacement Bio-filter, and some Bulk Activated Carbon Pellets, and Some Diamond Blend or other Ammonia Removing Product. So when you need to change the filter you can, rinse the sponge filter in some of the tank water removed (not to kill the good bacteria), and replace the carbon and ammonia stones with what you bought, and you can vary the amount of each depending on your tank conditions.
Dislikes:
LED Light should have a 24HR Moonlight setting
Could have a diverter air valve inside so that you can connect other air stones, etc, without having to push an air line through the top.
Overall I really like this tank, and thinking of buying the 16gal.
I will followup this review, as I have the tank longer if anything out of the ordinary happens. After purchasing the biUbe 9 gallon aquarium for a bedroom (and loving it) here on amazon.com, we decided to get the biOrb Life 60 for our living room. I would say it's an in between tank (better than those little Sponge Bob tanks but not as good as a regular 20 or more gallon tank with optional filtration). The upright design makes it a perfect addition due to limited amount of space. We set it up as a small freshwater tropical tank for some Glofish. It fits nicely in the corner and is the first thing you notice when you walk into the room.
The tank comes with everything you need to set it up. If done correctly, it makes a beautiful aquarium for our small tropical fish. I like the upright design of the tank and the fact that it is flat (as opposed to the biUbe which is round and distorts my fish) so you can see the fish clearly.
Pros:
Nice upright design for those looking to save space and can't fit a long rectangular aquarium.
Comes with everything you need to get started. Directions are clear to follow.
The light is nice and bright just like the fluorescents you see in those nice big tanks.
Cons:
Overpriced. I brought mine on sale, and though I love the look of the tank, I think they are way overpriced.
The air pump that comes with the tank makes a buzzing noise and doesn't last long. I use mine as a spare and purchase a Rena 100.
It's acrylic which maybe stronger than glass, but scratches very easily, so be careful when maintaining.
There is a limited amount and types of fish you can keep in these.
So basically, if you have the room to fit a big tank in your house, than get a bigger cheaper one (the bigger the tank, the easier it is to maintain). But if you are like me and don't have a lot of space and would like to keep a small amount of fish in a designer aquarium, than the biOrb Life is right for you.
UPDATE: After having the tank for a couple of months I wanted to update my experience with this tank. The one complaint I have is the top of the tank. The opening is a bit small which makes it a little hard to do regular maintenance and leaves little room for any added filters and such (the little opening in the light fixture is just big enough to fit the cord from the heater). I added an internal filter for some extra filtration because I like to over filter my tanks, so my light fixture doesn't fit perfectly in the opening due to the extra cord coming out of the tank (no big deal though). Also, because of how deep the tank is, I find siphoning the bottom to be somewhat difficult. This is something I can deal with. Other than that, so far so good.

PLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS TANK. Save yourself some grief. We lost so many of our beloved fish in this tank and we're experienced fish keepers. This review is for the 16 gallon tank but, I'm pretty sure it applies to the other sizes.
Pros:
Great looking tank. That's it.
Cons:
Inadequate filter system
Inadequate lighting system
No additional filters, lighting or feeders in the market that are made specifically for this type of tank
Very difficult to balance the tank due to all of the above
Our experience:
Plants wither and die.
Fish are unhappy and we lost a lot of fish due to difficulty in balancing tank.
We bought a standard tank and transferred the other fish and they are thriving in that tank. The standard tank has been low maintenance and the fish and plants are thriving.

My African cichlids(30 or more) are 6+ inches. They have been fed with New Life Spectrum Cichlid Formula 1mm for years. After seeing them worked hard to pick up small 1mm pellets and NLS came out with 2mm size, I wanted to it a try. Big mistake! These 2mm pellets are hard like rocks and my fish ate a few because they were hungry but ignored most of them. What a waste! After trying these 2mm for couple months, I had to go back to 1mm pellets. I gave a almost-full-5-pounds bucket to a friend and his fish also refused to eat. I bought this bucket from Online Pet Discounts fullfilled by Amazon. I'm not sure it was manufacture(NLS quality not consistent) fault or someone else(packed wrong pellets) but the 2mm pellets in this bucket were not the same as the 1mm pellets.Read Best Reviews of New Life International Spectrum Medium Fish Formula Sinking 2270g Here

Buy Finnex 300-Watt Hang-On Digital Controller Aquarium Heater, Titanium Tube, 80 to 100-Gallon Now
To my horror, I came home last night to a 96-degree reef tank. The heater failed in the on position. I lost 1 fish and all my corals. Just got done scrubbing the dead stuff off my live rock. My suggestion is to think twice about purchasing this one.Finnex HMO 300 Watt w/ Memorized Digital Controller Aquarium Titanium Heater (80 100 Gallons) My Finnex HMO 300 Watt Titanium Heater was inaccurate and seemed to me to be unreliable. The Finnex registered 77 deg. F, which was > 2 deg. higher than the 3 thermometers in my tank. Those 3 agreed among themselves within 0.2 deg. F. The heater responded poorly, or not at all, to my efforts to raise the temperature in the tank. I did not want to risk using the Finnex Titanium in my tank and discarded it. I have a 75 gal tank with two Eheim filters (with no filter heating elements). I had removed the two other heaters from my tank. I have had tropical fish tanks since the early 1940s.PaulThis heater is Terrible! I don't even want to give it one start but you cant give it negative stars.
I bought 2 of these. 1 for my 46 gallon tank and one for my 72.
In both cases the electronics where you change the temperature malfunctioned.
In one case it was not dangerous. The first case it just stopped showing the temperature. I could not tell if it was working since there is no light on the heater itself the only way I could tell if the heater was working was the press the up or down button and wait and see if my temperature went up or down. I did not want to Cook or Freeze my fish so I tossed that one out.
Yesterday the 2nd one malfunctioned and it could have been bad if I had not been at home.
I was in the kitchen cooking when I head a loud POP then a hiss from the fish tank. As I got closer to the tank I got a faint smell of smoke. Further investigation lead me to the heater and once again the plastic device used to turn the temperature up or down. The numbers burnt out again but this time it was very hot. I unplugged it. When I put it to my nose I could smell burnt electronics.
I originally wanted to buy the JBJ true temp 300W but I cheeped out. I will not make the same mistake twice!
