Laguna PowerFlo Pro Biospheres Filter Media, 300-Pack

There's not much to review here. This product is just a box full of 300 spheres that are intended to be put into an aquarium filter. I didn't count to verify the quantity, but it seems about right. The approximate volume of all these balls packed together is 765 cubic inches of media or 3.312 gallons. (a box 8" by 8.5" by 11.25")

The manufacturing process seems good and all of the balls appear to be properly shaped; I didn't find any deformed, misshapen, or broken spheres yet. As for performance, that's really up to how you install them. For the nitrification bacteria to work, the microbes need oxygen and a supply of dirty aquarium water. If everything is working correctly this reaction will happen in the filter: ammonia ==> nitrite ==> nitrate ==> nitrogen. During use, these balls need to be rinsed off every now-and-again, just be sure to wash them in old aquarium water (not in city tap water because the chlorine will kill all the friendly bacteria).

I say 5 stars out of 5 because the price is about average and the quality is good.

Not a remedie. This is the cure for pond algae and unwanted chemicals. I have had my 2500 gallon pond for 3 years. I have the top of the line filter with ultra violet light filters and the works. I even have an activated carbon chamber. I will tell you, all of them combined, could not do what these biospheres did. Do yourself a favor and put an end to your misery. This is it.
