Azoo Replacement Pad for Mignon 60-Power Filter

Azoo Replacement Pad for Mignon 60-Power FilterVery cheap and easy replacement. Cheap, clean, does not make the water murky. Mollies eat it up and poop often.

These work perfectly as replacement filter sponges. And for me, they healed the gaping wound in my soul caused by the current shortage of Hostess Twinkie™ Snack Cakes

It came with 4 pack, handy and low price and it does the job. It works with Mignon 60 filter which is a mini and very quiet for even 1 gal tank.

The pads fit perfectly are easy to change however the price is a little to high. I will use a cut down to size filter pad which will be more cost effective, a cut to size Boyd chemi-mat filter pad would give better filtration for less money.

Novaqua Plus Water Conditioner

Kordon NovAqua Water Conditioner, 8-OunceI have to top off my Nanocube periodically and this is a great product for treating tap water... I've never had trouble with my tank chemistry while using this, and it really does a great job of binding with the chlorine and other chemicals and making the water safe...

Nova Aqua has other uses besides being an aquarium water conditioner. I use it to take the chlorine out of my swimming gear after water aerobics three days a week. Pop it in the washer with mild detergent and it helps keep the chlorine from fading your suit making them last a WHOLE LOT longer. :) I am sure it is also great for fish tanks.

Buy Novaqua Plus Water Conditioner Now

I interrupted the nitrogen cycle in my 55 gallon tank when I took out the under gravel filter and replaced it with a Fluval 305 canister filter with all new bio media. Needless to say I have over a dozen of my prize angelfish in the tank. Using NovAqua Plus and Amquel Plus along with frequent partial water changes to keep ammonia levels down during the re-cycling of the tank has not only worked, but the fish are growing like beasts and very, very healthy! This stuff is amazing. There hasn't been a single casualty, not a single sick fish, not even a stressed fish in the tank since I started using it! That says quite a lot especially considering we are talking about angelfish AND a tank that is still cycling! I would use this even with RO water. It is great... it not only removes chloramine and chlorine, but it also helps the fish with their slime coat AND the beneficial bacteria colony as well.

When I first started keeping goldfish, I mysteriously lost several fish. I know now I was making all kinds of mistakes common to amateurs. One mistake I made was to assume that all water treatments that claimed to make tap water safe would do the trick. After several of my kiddos died, I asked for help from the owner of my local pet store. This is not a Petco or a Petsmart, but a real mom-and-pop place. The owners really care about their animals.

The store owner told me that years ago when he was first starting out, his fish kept dying. He had a water sample tested independently, and the tester advised him that our local tap water was the second worst water sample he had ever tested. The pet store owner advised me to use Amquel Plus along with NovAqua. Since I have been using these products, I have lost no fish. Since moving to a different place (one with better water quality, I am happy to report), I have continued to use these products as they have been perfectly effective and reliable. During the move, in fact, my fantails became extremely stressed and began to show signs of "popeye." I gave them an extra dose of the NovAqua along with a wee bit of aquarium salt, and their condition cleared up quickly.

Take it from me: this product really works!

Mighty Massive Rabbit Dog Toy, Brown

Mighty Massive Rabbit Dog Toy, BrownThe manufacturer brags about how the product is made. Oh the attention they pay to the construction of the seams. How they protect them. I gave the toy to my German Shorthair Pointer. One head shake of the toy and stuffing was showing Upon inspection, the seam attaching a front leg to the body had already failed. It is a simple single stitched seam. Wow, what ordinary construction. What a weak seam. And on top of that upon further inspection the thread did not really break. The seam failed due to poor workmanship. These are dog toys intended for larger dogs, I suggest the manufacturer actually watch a variety of dogs play with them. This is not rocket science.

Bought the pig Mighty Massive Piglet Dog Toy and a rabbit from a local Costco for my two destructive chewers. My Pug and Pomeranian usually destroys most toys within a day or two due to their tug of war and sharp teeth. These have no tears or rips into the material anywhere so far.

Pros

Very solidly made. Stitching feels reinforced like advertised to withstand their tugging

Except for the ears most parts are sewn into the main animal so it will be less likely to be ripped off in sections.

Fur on fabric is a good material that it doesn't come off when rubbed or scratched like some other toys.

Cons

Heavy hard for them to carry far (might be better for larger dogs with bigger mouths)

Squeaker is at an awkward place so humans and dogs have a hard time getting it to squeak.

I would not buy if paying amazon pricing, but at the deal found at costco it would be better than any other toy from the pet shop for that same price.

Our 20 pound corgi ripped the teeth off within five minutes and that was where she started pulling the stuffing out. It's been less than an hour and there's stuffing all over the room and she ripped the hair off its back too.

Cat Mate 4 Way Locking Cat Flap with Door Liner Brown

Cat Mate 4 Way Locking Cat Flap with Door Liner BrownI bought my own house and put in this cat door because I was tired of closing my door umpteen times a day. I had been leaving the door pushed closed but not shut and my cat could pry or push it open. My cat learned quickly how to use the cat door and let me go about my business. I don't have to leave what I am doing to close the door. The loss of heated or cooled air in the house is significantly less than with the door ajar, not to mention the bug issue. The 4-way locking feature is a definite plus.

We've installed a few of these in several homes over the years, both the magnetic locking kind and the non magnetic kind. We have never had a problem with them. The installation is very straight forward and in the end you have a professional looking cat door that works very well. I have never had a problem with other critters. We did have one door destroyed by a friend's large dog that we left inside the house and who though he could get through the small hole in the door. I especially like that it has a rigid clear (tinted) door as opposed to translucent flexible flaps that some doors have.

I have never seen a better cat door.

Installed in a metal door -not for the faint of heart. A few anxious moments, but eventual success. Final result looks like original equipment.

Would have like some screws/bolts that went clear through the door to hold the two pieces together, but I'll worry about that when/if the provided pieces don't hold.

Three cats learned the trick in a day or two. Should have done this years ago!

This product is good and well designed. Putting it into a hollow door I do not recommend. I cut the pattern and found that I had no wood to hold the screws. I did purchase 2.5 inch screws with nuts and washers and used them to hold the sides together. Then I cut the excess off of the screws so the animals did not get hurt.

The problem here is me, but I think a warning should be in the instructions for hollow doors.

We have an older model of this door that works well, but on this version our cats quickly learned how to bounce the door when set to "in only" and they can then catch the edge and get out. Bad!

Exotic Enviroments Stick up Aquarium Ornament with Suction Cup Back "Australian Reef with Mushroom

Exotic Enviroments Stick up Aquarium Ornament with Suction Cup Back 'Australian Reef with Mushroom Corals'
  • 100% Safe Neoprene Suction Cup
  • Decorate with Dimension....
  • Add a realistic dimension to any aquarium with Blue Ribbon's Pet Products series of ornaments
  • Exclusive hand crafted designs
  • Suction cup mounts to glass and plexi-glass

I ordered this item along a similar product, Exotic Environments Stick Up Aquarium Ornament with suction cup back "Red Sea Reef with Brain Corals". Please note that the product featured on this page has a flat side that is intended to snug up against a wall or flat surface. Nice color and the suction cups seems to be pretty strong...it stuck on the wall of my tank without slipping even before the water was added. Keep in mind that these pieces are kind of chunky...almost as thick as they are wide. Wish they were a little larger and maybe flatter to cover more of the surface of my overflow box without sticking so far into the tank. Even so, they are a neat accent piece and I will probably be looking for a few more like it to decorate the back wall of my tank.

Nutrafin pH 3.4-Ounce

Nutrafin pH Adjuster Up 3.3 ozI believe the product works fine. I do agree with a previous review that the packaging is horrible. The print is so small you can't read it. I do also know that you have to be careful with adjusting the PH down too fast I believe I am able to control my application of the product well because it dispenses in drops.

This product seems to work faairly well. It is a challenge to keep the PH at a correct level in this area My main complaint was the small writing for the directions which made it difficult to read. using drops was easy to administer..

Designs by Nature 3 D Aquarium Background BJ051A 31.5"x 21.75"x 2"

Designs by Nature 3 D Aquarium Background BJ051A 31.5'x 21.75'x 2'Slightly bigger than tank but cutting it down to fit with a serrated bread knife wasn't too bad. Very little mess. My cichlids love it. It's so realistic that some of my cichlids have made some of the nooks into their personal caves even though I have plenty of slate caves for them. VERY VERY HAPPY

This background looks very nice after installation. My only complaints are a couple of holes in the background but that was easily concealed with black tape on the back of the tank. I think it's thicker than it has to be (this takes up significant square footage in the tank). Being thinner would be a good improvement and some of the background can flake off a little bit.

Overall, I would buy it again so I have to give it 4 Stars. It's better than spending a week trying to build one. I didn't have the time to do that.

This background was the finishing touch to my wife's aquarium. We had spent a couple hundred dollars on artificial coral and plants, this tied it all together. Trimming was accomplished with a small scalpel and straight edge and the installation took less than twenty minutes including measuring and final fitting.

Hagen Nutrafin Max Small Micro Granules, 2.82-Ounce

Hagen Nutrafin Max Small Micro Granules, 2.82-OunceI have a 29 gal tank with small fish tetras, corys, small gourami, rasbora, etc. They enjoy these micro granules more than any other type of flake or larger pellet. It is super fine, almost dust like. It would really only be suited for small fish, like what I mentioned. It is hard to come by in stores anymore, it seems discontinued in most places.

Highly recommend these for any small fish food need.

Coralife Energy Savers ACL76027 Pure flouorescent, at and Shutoff Kit

Coralife Energy Savers ACL76027 Pure flouorescent, at and Shutoff KitI bought this [new] from a different website and installed it per the instructions. It is intended to keep a birdbath full, and it seemed to work right away, but the next morning the float was under water, and the birdbath was overflowing. The problem turned out to be a bad seam [the float is made in parts and glued together], and it filled with water. I contacted the distributor, and they sent me a replacement which worked ok. For over $ [incl. shipping] though, this is not a good value, even though customer service was good. There are others out there that are less expensive and just as good if not better.

I have been using this for our RO-DI unit and it's been working like a charm for about a year. However, now it's not functioning anymore and I need to replace it. Perhaps for the price this should have been as long they would have lasted.

Aquatic Fundamentals 20/29/37 Gallon Aquarium Stand with Shelf

Aquatic Fundamentals 20/29/37 Gallon Aquarium Stand with ShelfThis aquarium stand works well. The construction is study enough for a 29 gallon aquarium and some books on the shelves. Very simple design, which I like.

Very well made and sturdy tank stand; I'm very impressed, specially for the price! Assembling it took about ten minutes tops, and was extremely simple.

I used it for my 25 gallon Aqueon 24" on the top shelf and also set my 3 gallon nano tank on the middle shelf with no problems so far! I couldn't be happier, and will buy again from the seller.

Potential buyer should note that the screws that hold the legs of the tank protrude on the top shelf , and might damage the bottom of a tank that is set on it. Likewise, the stand is NOT waterproof, mine bubbled up with in minutes of water being spilled on it!

Buy Aquatic Fundamentals 20/29/37 Gallon Aquarium Stand with Shelf Now

I like the open shelves, and it's sturdy enough to hold my ten gallon tank.

It is a bit wobbly, but this shouldn't be a concern at all if you don't have kids or aren't pushing up against it. Also, there are four screws that pop out a bit on the top shelf, for the tank, but I placed a towel between the tank and the shelf and it's covered up.

Good value, does its job.

Simple Solution Washable Cover-Ups, Medium, Pink/Purple

Simple Solution Washable Cover-Ups, Medium, Pink/PurpleI purchased these for my Am. Cocker Spaniel to wear while she is in heat. These are so cute! I like them better than a pair we got by Pooch Pad (also size medium). These (by Simple Solutions) are designed better, with a section of shirred elastic at the belly for a MUCH better fit. These are less bulky since they aren't padded (just lined), but if more absorbency is needed, you can use the liners they sell. My dog didn't really need padding, so I like this non-bulky, really "Comfy" style. The tail hole is just slightly smaller which is also better for my Cocker, but it would still fit any dog I think. The issue with the other brand was that the tail hole was so big that, well, her "girl part" stuck out some usually, which means leakage can happen. On the other hand, she does want access so she can clean herself (I know--yuck!). The Medium is a good fit for my slim to average Cocker Spaniel (about 21 pounds with about a 17-inch waist). She's only 9 months old, but I think she is done growing unless she puts on weight. The Medium says it goes to 35 lbs, but I don't think it would fit if she were that much heavier. It would depend on the breed though, but this is what I think for a Cocker. Disclaimer: I tried these on her, but since she is not in heat anymore, she hasn't actually used them yet, but I can tell we're both going to love them!

UPDATE: After almost 2 more years, these continue to be a great purchase. Very comfy! I think she actually likes wearing them!

My mixed breed, part Basset Hound female dog is around 16 years old and recently has become fecally incontinent. At first, I tried Pampers Cruisers and cut a hole for her tail, but the diapers kept sliding off.

These adjustable panties with velcro tabs by Simple Solutions have saved the day!! I now use Parents Choice (much less expensive diapers)on my dog and these panties keep the diapers on without a problem. I highly recommend these Simple Solutions adjustable panties for anyone whose dog suffers from incontinence! My dog and I are both happy!

TOM Aquarium Accessories Betta Security House with Lid - 4 compartments

TOM Aquarium Accessories Betta Security House with Lid - 4 compartmentsSo, I bought this because this was the cheapest one I found. I had a single betta to test it out, and everything went fine. Until the next morning he was over in the last compartment. He jumped over the two dividers, I was so mad because what if I had another male betta in the other compartments, my betta would have been dead. Then I decided that I would my betta out of the security house and put another one in his place. Somehow he lifted the bottom up and got out. So I had two male betta's in one tank, so scary. I finally got him out with no fighting. I am returning this product and getting a refund. I am buying another one which looks more secure than this one.

I'm so mad, this is a poor product the plastic compartment does not sit properly against the aquarium glass so there are gaps. I press the suctions cups as hard as a i could to eliminate the gap but over time they loose their suction. Needless to it is easy for fishes to escape which is what happened to mine. I have a 55 gallon fish tank and wanted this so i can start a female Betta fish colony, i bought 4 all female Betta fishes and wanted to put them on the Betta house before letting them out to the tank. The first night two got out, one killed the other one, so i had three left, the second night two of them got out again and another one got killed so now i have two left...........I'M SO MAD!!!!!!!! don't get this product bottom line it would not hold your fish.

Buy TOM Aquarium Accessories Betta Security House with Lid - 4 compartments Now

I bought this & removed the dividers so it was one large separate enclosure. I had my male betta in it with a tank full of females. He was happy enough while it stayed attached to the side of the tank (all of about 30 minutes). After that, the suction cups came disconnected and females came in while he got out. Luckily I was right there or it could have had a very poor outcome for all the fish. Maybe if you can find a way to keep the suction cups attached it would be worth it. Otherwise, don't waste your money.

I BOUGHT TWO AND WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY THEY DON'T STICK TO THE SIDES AND EVEN FOR THE SHORT TIME THEY DO THE BETTAS CAN SLIDE OUT. NEVER AGAIN

Want TOM Aquarium Accessories Betta Security House with Lid - 4 compartments Discount?

THIS PRODUCT SHOULD NOT BE USED AS A PERMANENT HOME FOR ANY FISH! However, for temporary separation from tankmates without the stress of being removed from the community tank, this product fits the bill!

I have been looking for a way to photograph my male guppies without removing them from their tank (thus stressing them and causing their colors to fade) and this is PERFECT for that use! I do recommend removing the "barriers" though, as they are useless and there isn't enough room in each compartment for any fish to be comfortable.

I also used this as a drop tank for my females (with all of the barriers removed, of course!) and it allows the fry to escape from their hungry mothers without confining the female in one of those miserable little "Breeder Nets" that seem to stress the fish. The water flow into the box is great and the slots on the bottom are large enough that food particles, waste and baby fish all fall through easily.

K&H 9000 Ice Eliminator BirdBath 50-Watt De-Icer

K&H 9000 Ice Eliminator BirdBath 50-Watt De-IcerIt finally got cold enough to try this out. So far, it seems to work very well. Temperatures have been in the 20s and 30s and it keeps a 12" circle of water ice-free. The birds have definitely been taking advantage of it.

It mentions this in the description, but I missed it initially, so I just thought I would reiterate that this heater is thermostatically controlled, so it only turns on when necessary. That's nice, as thermostatic plugs cost twenty bucks or more.

[UPDATE]

My circuit breaker tripped and the birdbath water froze. When I turned it back on, the heater thawed its way out of a solid block of ice at 5 degrees F. I'd say that it works pretty well!

I had procrastinated when it came to getting a bird bath heater. Winter came on later this year, but I had still for some reason waited until the bath was frozen solid to actually decide on what one to get. I was pleasantly suprised to find that by morning this little heater had melted all the way to the bottom of the bath. I don't have a bad thing to say about this product. The cord is a bit unruly, but I suspect that is the case no matter what heater I would have put in. Despite only being a 50 watt heater it has to date always kept the bird bath open, even on those nights where it got below zero and the wind chills were in the -30 range.

Buy K&H 9000 Ice Eliminator BirdBath 50-Watt De-Icer Now

When the temp went down below zero for 4 or 5 days in a row, the heater was able to keep a small area free from ice in the bird bath for them to access the water all the time. It is nice to see the animals getting something to drink when everything else around them is frozen solid.

As for my electric bill, I did not notice a difference when using the heater during the months of Jan or Feb. The 50 watt heater is enough to keep some of the water accessible, but not kill my electric bill.

Read Best Reviews of K&H 9000 Ice Eliminator BirdBath 50-Watt De-Icer Here

K&H Bird Bath Ice Eliminator This birdbath heater looks natural in the birdbath (unlike a coil) and can be painted if you want to. It's an energy miser at just 50 watts of power (others use 4 times more at 200 watts). At 11 cents per Kwhr., this heater costs just 13 cents/day or $3.90/month to operate, before considering the thermostat feature. The built-in thermostate turns this unit off at temperatures above 40 degrees. Your actual operating cost is probably $2 per month. That's a cheap price to pay for the entertainment of seeing birds year 'round at the birdbath. In the zero degree weather it still keeps a sufficient area ice-free, which is all the birds need. The birds seem to really appreciate it when there's no other sources of water. I've had mine for 4 winters now. I'm sure my 'bird-buddies' are glad I got it.

Want K&H 9000 Ice Eliminator BirdBath 50-Watt De-Icer Discount?

This is a good deicer. The size is nice and will fit in most bird baths. In the cold New England winters it does not put out enough heat to keep the entire bird bath free of ice when it gets really cold outside but usually at least half is ice free. I like the auto temperature sensor so that it turns off on the warmer days. The only downside to this product is the length of the cord. I would have to run an extension cord no matter how long its cord was but I would prefer it if the cord was a couple of feet longer. The birds certainly do appreciate having a drinking source in the cold weather.
