I've been using these for year, but the quality isn't as good as before. One package came with bags that weren't sealed on one side.

I have used Bio Bags for years in my fish tanks and here lately they have changed the mesh pocket I suppose to save money but it does not last near as long as they used too. When the main system burns out I will not be replacing it with a Whisper for the simple fact of the changes with the filters.

It is totally wasteful. After a month or two I usually clean the filter cartridge.

This bio bag is unable to be reused. It simply tears apart after I rinse it off to

use it again. This maybe the only brand that makes you buy cartridges over and over.

This is the best way to purchase UN-assembled filter bags.

MY ADVISE: I add extra carbon chunks because the tiny bag they give you barely adds an inch to the filter bag I fill the filter and it really keeps water clean. You can buy filter carbon seperately here on Amazon.

My maintenence routine: I change the filter about every 2 weeks, clear off any algae from the glass of the tank with clean material or papertowel, sometimes I remove/refill about 1/4 of the water in the to freshen the water.

I combine both products (listed above) to fill the filter bag, rinse with to remove any charcoal carbon black dust (instructions advise to do that) and put in the filterbag into the filter. Takes less aboout 15 mins and really keeps the tank clean.

Zilla 11521 36-Inch Desert 50 UVB T5 Fluorescent Bulb, 21-Watt

They really good for UV. They however are not very bright in the visible spectrum.

I'm very disappointed in these UVB bulbs from Zilla. We purchased 20 two bulb combo fixtures from Zilla which have one Daylight bulb and one UVB bulb. Within about 3-5 months all of the UVB bulbs had burned out. Most burned out within 3 months, two bulbs just finally died this past week (at the 5 month mark). The daylight bulbs have lasted longer, only one of them has burned out so far. I would personally not buy this product or recommend it to others.

This package arrived and i could immediately tell that the bulb box had been opened and re-taped at the bottom. There was also the unmistakable sound of broken glass. The inner bulb box packing material was missing from the one end I opened. I didn't look any further because upon opening, bulb/glass powder floated out and pieces of bulb were visible down towards the bottom of the box.

I have no idea whether this bulb worked well or not since it was not 36' and wouldn't fit in my fixture. This bulb is about 32 inches long and 1/2-3/4 inches in diameter, so make sure it will fit your light fixture before you order it.

Hydor ETH 200 In-Line External Heater 200w 5/8" hose - Original Eth 201

I have a tall 29 gallon that had a typical submersible "stick" heater in it. The problem inconsistent heat. No matter where you put that stick, the temperature in the tank will vary as you get further away from the stick, and will vary a lot from top to bottom. I had to set it to 82 degrees to get an average of 76, and the furthest corner was usually closer to 72.... that's a HUGE variance which is bad for the fish.

This heats ALL your water every drop passes through this heater (about 6 times an hour if you have adequate flow through your filter).

I put this in my output line, set it to 78, and within 1 hour got a reading of EXACTLY 78, no matter where I put the thermometer in the tank. I will never go back to stick heaters again.

HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION!!!

Bought this heater for use w/ a Fluval 305 canister filter on a 45gal corner pentagram community tank. The old glass tube heater's thermostat seemed to stop working (maybe because I let the water level drop a bit low), and I came across this inline model while looking for a replacement.

First off, the heater is much larger than I expected. It was too long to install above the filter yet below the tank in my stand (while keeping the required vertical positioning), so I had to move the tank away from the wall in order to install it in-line on the return hose behind the tank. Since it's also pretty fat (much thicker than the hoses themselves), the tank now sits a few inches from the wall instead of almost right up against it. The Fluval 305 filter also uses the ribbed hoses, which I found out after purchasing the heater are not 5/8ths, but 3/4" themselves. A few posts on the net said connecting the ribbed hoses directly to the heater would result in leaks. I ended up buying a couple of the rubber Fluval hose ends, which just push on to the ends of the cut ribbed hose, and so far, no leaks.

Once installed, the heater seems to work well, but the temp setting on the dial doesn't match the 2 thermometers in the tank. The thermometers both read ~2 degrees higher than the dial. As long as this remains consisant, this isn't a big deal. The ambient temp in the house will be as low as 65, but the heater doesn't seem to have any trouble maintaining the tank at 78.

It is nice to be able to not have a glass tube heater showing in the tank, though. Makes for a cleaner looking setup.

My first fish was a little crazy and used to swim frantically around the tank banging into the walls. Turns out he smashed the glass heater and the rest (along with the fish) is history. Went to the "in-line" heater version after that and this heater works great. Use it in a 30 gallon, acrylic tank.

I bought one of these to use with a Fluval 306 canister filter and 50 gallon tank. Connecting it to the filter was not straight forward since Fluval uses ribbed hoses. I ended up using a clear 5/8" PVC hose from the filter to the intake of the heater and then used the rubber connector and the ribbed hose on the discharge to the tank. So far in nearly 6 months of use this has worked flawlessly with no leaks.

I can't say enough about how well the heater works as far as controlling the tank temperature. I have a digital thermometer and it never fluctuates more than +/.1 degrees no matter what the room temperature is. You do hear a slight click when the the heater turns on or off which means they use a mechanical relay to control the voltage to the heating element. I like this as most heaters use a solid state relay (think transistor) which is usually the reason heaters fail in the "on" state and fry the tank, SSR's almost always fail "on".

If you have a canister filter you can't go wrong with one of these heaters.

I have this installed on the output of a Fluval 206 canister filter. Keeps the turtle water at 80 degrees effortlessly. The outside of the unit does not get very warm, so it is not a problem having it rest against the aquarium background. The tank is a 55 gallon with about 40 gallons of water in it. I took about a foot of the black flexible Fluval tubing and put a rubber end on it with silicone, then covered that with heat shrink tubing. It attaches firmly to the compression fitting. I had a clip that slides over the tank rim, so attached the heater to that with a cable tie. It is very lightweight. Love it!

I got two of these river rock bags to place in a large glass hurricane together with a candle. They work perfectly. While there were a few bigger rocks in both bags (approx. 2.5" to 3"), the majority are around 1.5", give or take. All of the rocks were intact, none broken. Their polish is nice and natural looking, not overly shiny.

This isn't a bad price for 2 pounds of rock, the only real problem i have is the size of the rocks are very inconsistent, some are large and some are very small in comparison. Not a bad buy I would buy them again.

Came a day before its estimate which was good. Smelled very plasticy however so I washed it thoroughly. My betta seems to enjoy it though!

First impression: Just purchased this plant for my 2gal betta tank (Aqueon Evolve2 tank). It takes up about 1/6th of the overall space, leaving enough room for the betta to swim around, but also hide within its branches. Very pretty blue and purple colors under the white and blue tank lighting. Would highly recommend!

Snoozer-Luxury Lookout I Dog Car Seat - Medium/Anthracite

My 5 lb. five month old puppy loves it because he can look out the window both in our house and in the car. He uses it as a bed in the house as well. I am ordering another one so that we can leave it in one of our cars. We got him used to it by leaving it in the house next to the window before we used it in the car. He took to it right away in the car because he was used to it in the house. It is obviously not as safe as a child's seat, but it is much safer for everyone rather than just having him "loose" in the car.

I bought two of these car seats for my 13 lb Bichon Frise and my 9 pound Maltese-Shih Tzu mix. The Snoozer Luxury Lookout gives them the perfect boost so that they can stick their head out the window and stay aware of all of the sights and smells going on around them! I am not too fond of the harness strap that comes with the car seat and the overall build of the seat is nice, but doesn't exactly say "I paid $150 for this", but what can you do? Cobalt Aquatics Algae Wafers, 6-Pound

The fish only ate this after getting very hungry. They got used to it after a while though. It really messes up the tank if they dont eat it right away, but in fairness, so does any fish food.

I bought these because my large placo and silver dollars and corydoras go through a lot of algae wafers and the little packets in the stores didn't last too long and were expensive for what you get. These are a much better deal, and the fish are doing fine with them. I divided the bucket up into small zip baggies, returned them to the pail, and keep the pail in the freezer for freshness, bringing in a baggie as needed. I am very pleased with this product.

Green Killing Machine Internal 9 Watt UV Sterilizer with Power Head

I was happy with this unit, seemed like a sane and useful design, however it failed at around 4 weeks of operation. If I am able to get warranty service, or otherwise the issue resolved I'll update this review but right now I can't recommend it.

At 4 weeks or so the control box red light went out which should indicate the UV lamp needed replacing. That's terrible but I wondered if that might not be just a defective light, etc. I just went ahead and purchased a new lamp, figured I'd use it in the long run regardless, however the control box indicator light is still out so that's not it, apparently the 'control box' has failed. I'm attempting to get warranty service from the manufacturer because I'm over the 30 day return policy.

I took a chance on a relatively new vendor and I'm glad I did. Hats off to the Umbrella Group. Everything went smoothly and the product was delivered in good shape and on time.

I'm very pleased with the unit. I needed a UV filter for a smaller tank with a hanging filter (so an in-line wouldn't work) and was very happy to find this at a great price. It's whisper-quiet and includes a power head for great circulation.

Two small words to the wise:

1) The product is a snap to set up if you're a little mechanically inclined because the instructions that come with it leave something to be desired. The illustrations are microscopic and the text says to see illustrations that don't exist.

2) Make sure you look at ALL the photos before you decide to put this in a smaller tank (20 g or less). It takes up more room than the main picture might lead you to believe but is rated up to 50g.

With that said, I would heartily recommend this to anyone who's ever dealt with an algae bloom (or anyone who doesn't want to).

Other facts: Plug and play, doesn't make a sound, looks difficult to set up but isn't. The water flow is slow, suppose to be that way for max "killing" power and efficiency. Doesn't shock me like the other products have. Built solid, no signs of electrical leakage or water leakage anywhere. Mount the control box on the OUTSIDE of tank. Instruction manual does leave out a lot of info, but who's really an idiot anyway? If you can keep fish alive, let alone Kois, you're not the average Joe Schmoe that needs step by step guidance anyway. Seriously!!

Two of my kids tanks turned green while we were away on vacation. I think our neighbors overfed the fish. The Green Killing Machine 9 watt worked wonderfully for the first three months I owned it. Water was crystal clear, and even if the submersible part of the unit was big and bulky it was worth disguising to have such a trouble free aquarium.

Then, despite weekly routine cleaning and maintenance as suggested per the manual, the charging unit stopped working. Only it didn't just short out. It fried itself and burned so hot that it melted through the plastic housing before I caught it. I don't know if and when the little red light went out; it's simply not something most people check on a daily basis. What I do know is that the problem could have been seriously compounded had the unit continued to smoulder.

Based on the potential for danger and the fact the unit eventually stopped functioning beyond repair, I can't recommend it at all.

If you've tried cutting back on feedings and are still battling phosphates in your tank, I would definitely recommend this cheap and effective solution.

I run this media in a HOB aquaclear filter on my 120 gallon reef tank (with no other media to prevent Nitrate spike) and my phosphates are now undetectable. I knew it could not be real (in a freshwater tank especially), but it looked genuine enough to catch my interest for a few minutes. Lee's Protein Skimmer Counter Current, Medium

Do not let the bad reviews fool you. Protein skimmers are not electronics gadgets or any advance technology, so why are the average skimmers on the market running for about 80-100 dollars? I read a few reviews about Lee's protein skimmer and the results were mixed. I nervously decided to give it a shot and when I received the product from "petsolutions" I realized the poor quality of the product. The piping and tubing does not fit tightly so it takes a while to get it right. I ran one aerator and split it into two lines but realized after a day that the skimmer did not produce anything. Then I experimented around and surprisingly I began to have bacterial/junk products in the collection cup.

HERE IS the SECRET-

your going to need to buy two aerators-

1) for the current going down

1) for the Lee's wooden bubbler

Then your going to need to turn on the down current line first and let that run for about a minute to create a down current.

Then you turn on the wooden bubbler line and create an upward current.

This will basically cause the downward current to meet with the upward "air pockets/bubbles" to meet and any molecules will be trapped within the aure bubbles and rise to the top of the canister and into the collection cup.

It will definetly take a few tries but BOTTOM LINE THE PRODUCT DOES SKIM!!

I have a 30 gallon tank with 2 clowns, 1 spiny box, 3 anemones and the only running on a hang on filter with the skimmer and my water quality is crystal clear.

I took a stupid risk with the skimmer and I actually got it to work and I hope the best of luck for others.

I was a little hesitant about buying it because there were mixed reviews about the item. It is easy to setup and once you follow the directions ON THE BOX it will remove the toxins from your water. I had it running for about 3 hours after receiving it and there was already brown mucky skimmate in the collection cup. The trick is to have the downflow on first before turning on the airstone so the bubbles mix more with the water. Also there is a line telling you where the bubbles are supposed to be, and where the water level is supposed to be. I highly recommend this product.

Very easy to set up, started working for me almost immediately, need to order a separate air pump, I only use one pump (Tetra whisper for 40 gal) for my Lees skimmer and it works great. Simple technology with almost no moving parts to worry about breaking. Would definitely recommend for a starter skimmer. I have it in a 45 gal tank and it does great!

Pieces are loosely assembled and took some effort to get the skimmer properly placed in tank since pieces did not fit tightly.

Loving Pets Dolce Dish Dog Bowl, Small, 1 Pint, Espresso

I bought 3 different colors of these bowls, one for each of my dogs. It is kind of funny but each of them picked the color of the bowl that they eat out of. What we like about them is that the stainless bowl pops out for easy cleaning. The snap on rim keeps the bowl from tipping and spilling which eliminates a lot of messes.

I have a 15lb Boston Terrier and this bowl is great for the food; however the water bowl has to be constantly filled up.. Would be nicer if it was a bit bigger. Construction is good and is definitely a high quality piece. Would buy again.

Made from cheap plastic. The outer plastic bowl broke within a day. I would rather pay few dollars more and get a good one from other places. Also, the water dish was very small. May be suitable for small pets. Definitely not for medium or large ones.
