I stopped using carbon in my tanks, as I was tired of paying twenty or thirty bucks for a couple pounds of carbon. Then, I saw this and thought too good to be true, but if it does not work I am only out 5 bucks. Well, it works! It has only been in my tanks for a few hours and the water clarity is already amazing. Also, that slight odor that even a well cycled and maintained tank can develop is fading, gotta love that!

Update: I used some of the carbon in my newt tank, and have seen a huge increase in their activity level (never seen newts this active). They apparently love the improved water conditions.

Also, I tried a little in the cat's litter box, and was very happy with the results. Bottom line. . . it is good stuff!!

I use activated carbon in my aquarium filters and in my koi pond filters as a chemical filter to help clear the water, remove odor, and remove ammonia and nitrites. Hagen Marina Naturals Foreground Silk Plant, Small, Red

This is a foreground plant. It is a really pretty red color that looks great in the water. I bought two for my aquarium. I like the shapes of the unique leaves; they look real. The colors are vibrant but not so bright as to look fake. I would love to someday have real plants, but until then this is the best choice.

I have a 25 gal freshwater tank which I decorated with 12 silk plantssmall, med and large sizes. I arranged the plants around 2 black lava rocks and added a blue background. The colors of the plants look nice with the black rocks and the blue background. The plants fan out from either side of the rocks and sway in the water.

The colors of the plants make the colors of the fish stand out more. Plus the fish seem to feel more secure because they can hide among the plants like they would in the wild. They search the leaves and under the plants for missed food. There are lots of little areas among the plants for the fish to explore and hide. As a pet owner, My little guys seem relaxed and like having these silk plants in their aquarium.

I am happy with these plants. I like the way they add color and texture to my aquarium and my fish like having a more comfortable home.

I like all the Hagen silk plants we've gotten so far. They have nice coloring and they're very soft for your little fish. And so far they stand up well in the water.

This plant added so much life to my tank. its soft for my betta.

Some of the plant released some of the silk but only a little, a week after using. One thing I dont like about it is that all the leaves are really clumped together and wont separate. I dont like how they are arranged.

This is currently in use in our fry net for hiding space. I like that it is silk so there are no sharp edges or corners for the fry to hurt themselves on. It does sink to the bottom without any gravel/sand/rocks so that is a plus. It has a very natural movement to it, but a very unnatural look. I would not suggest you purchase this if you want a "natural" tank.

Aqueon Goldfish Granules

As other reviews have indicated, advertising these as "slow-sinking" may lead to some false expectations. My goldfish has been dining on a mix of these, flakes, and the occasional fresh veggie bit since she came home from the pet store, and seems to get pretty excited about these. I'd say she finds them more exciting than flakes, but still less exciting than fresh peas. She doesn't always notice them before they sink, but seems to like to nose around in the gravel a lot during the day for missed bits of food, so I think they all get eaten sooner or later as long as I don't overfeed. I personally prefer them to the flakes because they don't crumble apart in my fingers like those do, so they aren't as messy.

I bought these granules to give my fish a little diversity and they really love it. They are getting so big, i just wish they would make a larger Granule. But it is a good product, not just for Gold Fish, but for bottom feeders too!!

These are called "slow sinking" granules. If you think rocks float, then perhaps this statement works for you. I don't think it really matters (the fish will eat food from the bottom), but if you're going to advertise that (and ONLY that) on the front of your product, you should probably make sure it's true.

To clarify, these granules do NOT sink slowly. They drop to the bottom immediately.

The granules are smaller than I expected. They are tiny spheres, slightly larger than a mustard seed (perhaps the same size).

The 5.8oz. container seems to be the best size (it's not so tiny as to seem a waste of time, but not so large as to become comical).

In theory, it would be much easier to feed than flake food, but since the fish wouldn't eat it, that didn't matter.

This filter is great, versatile baskets inside and super easy to keep clean without damaging the love bacteria inside. The only downfall is the pipe used... It's ribbed and therefore needs special connectors. If you want to add an inline reactor or a uv filter you either have to use different pipe or get your hands on there special connectors... I scrapped the pipe and when to a flexible tube with more versatility.

Within two days the fish were happy again, I did loose one of my pink kissing fish though. However this is not a complaint against the seller or product, just a hint to anyone else make sure you wash and rinse the product before you put it in the tank!

The description is right on with this decoration. I have a tall fifteen gallon tank from petco and it fits perfect. The only dislike I have is that the right side tower doesn't have an escape so any food can get caught up in there. Two Little Fishies NPX Bioplastics, 400ml

These bio pellets will create a huge bacteria bloom if you are not careful. Also if the reactor is not large enough for the entire package of bio pellets, don't worry, even less is enough for a lot of systems. Make sure to leave enough room for the circulation of the beads once the powerhead is turned on. Anywhere from an inch to half an inch between the moving beads and the mesh screen inserted to keep the pellets from exiting. (Mesh Screen is an optional purchase or from a hobby store). If no room is left then the pellets will eventually clump and the bacteria will not be as efficient as if the pellets were circulating. When initially startup allow the bloom to take over 3-4 days at the most and make sure you have a large amount of carbon in use and the outlet of the bio pellet reactor next to the inlet of the skimmer so the bi-product made from the pellets can be skimmed and removed.

Aquatop Red Devil Hang-On Canister Filter RD-30G

I bought this filter about 2 weeks ago because I was looking for the cleaning ability of a canister filter and the ease of filter maintenance of a hang on the back filter. This filter was very easy to set up and all the media comes with the filter. The compartments will make adding the media that I desire, down the road, a snap. Priming the filter the first time took me a few tries but once I realized you have to make sure the top seal is very tight I was good to go. Because this is a new filter design from Aquatop I did call their help line to ask a few questions about the filter and they were easy to reach, kind and helpful on the phone. Water flow seems very good, even after 2 weeks of running. The filter runs so quiet I was not sure it was even on until I saw the water flow. I would say this is a perfect filter for a 20 or 30 gallon tank.

I have a lot of experience with filters and fish. I usually use a canister filter system but this time I had a small (20gallon) fish tank so I decided to just use a Hang-on-tank filter. I went through about 4 of the crappy filters with the spinning wheel and where you load cartidges from the top. They are horrible and costly. This filter works perfect and is a true (small version) canister filter. You can setup your own media the way you like it. Buy this and do research on how to properly setup media in a canister filter and you will never have a dirty tank. Of course, make sure you are using it with the right size tank

Fluval EDGE Pre-Filter Sponge

A lot of people make homemade prefilters, but many of them just look like crap. The Fluval Edge looks great, fits perfectly, does the job well, and is only about $3 or so, depending who you buy it from.

UPDATE: I am not using this prefilter in my main tank anymore. It is great for a fry tank or a shrimp tank where you don't want them to be sucked into the intake, but it just reduces suction and flow too much. Large debris particles were not being removed from the water. I am now using some mesh from a media bag, secured with some rubber bands, which improves flow and will still keep even my small Tetras from being sucked up.

As a fishkeeper, I have quite a few guppies that are constantly reproducing, which in the past has led me to purchase a sponge filter that takes up quite a bit of room in my tank.

The small size of the fry also forced me to turn off the hob filter that I was using at the time, in order to prevent guppy fry from being sucked into its intake.

Then I saw these Fluval Edge prefilters online, remembered reading that the Fluval Edge 6 gallon aquarium uses an Aquaclear 20 filter, and decided to purchase a few of these prefilters to install on my guppy tanks.

They have worked out extremely well, reducing the amount of detrius in my Aquaclear filters, while being much quicker to clean.

You simply slip the prefilter off the intake of the Aquaclear filter, rinse it under some filtered water, and reinstall it. The entire process takes less than a minute.

As such, this author highly recommends the Fluval Edge prefilter for use on the aforementioned Aquaclear hob filters.

The pre-filter sponge is useful when you are breeding small shrimp and fish, as this will stop them from being sucked into your filter.

The foam flows very well as long as it is properly maintained. I find that I need to rinse out the foam because it collects a lot of fine particles especially after a water change where debris in the gravel gets kicked up into the water. I would not recommend this if you are not prepared to rinse out the sponge regularly

Having this sponge on helps keep the main filter pad from getting dirty as fast, and is simple to rinse. I enjoy the reduced costs/wastes associated with replacing a dirty filter pad

I kinda messed up on this one, save some cash and get the three pack for 50 cents more! I accidentally clicked on the single and got this one. Imagine my dissapointment when I opened my package and saw only one... $3.49 for this little prefilter is rediculously expensive, its just a small piece of foam for god's sake (thats the main reason I gave this 3 stars)! It is really really tiny (this is the other reason I gave it 3 stars), I expected it to be a little bigger well much bigger. But if this is the size your looking for it is a good product and fits well on smaller HOB filters with a 1 inch lift tube. At least the box was kinda nice for $3.59... Outrageous!

MR. Aqua Plastic Check Valve

I've had these blue check valves for air pumps on a 46g and a 24g Nano for 6 months. these check valves DO have an arrow for easy setup. I haven't had any backflows after 6 months. The product works as advertised, and they are the best looking check valves available IMO. They especially look sharp on my aquarium with the black tubing.

The air valve that you receive does not have an arrow on it, therefore, you have no idea which way to place it on your tubing. Also, all packaging and writing is in Japanese. Not helpful, and not a good product.

We got this cute little bubbler after seeing the video review. He is such a cute feature in our 12-gallon fluval edge aquarium, and our two boys (5 and 3) love it. He bends (at his leg joints) up and down as the bubbles escape his jaws. His little arms also move with the current as he bobs. Between the traditional sunken pirate treasure chest bubbler and this dinosaur, I just couldn't resist the dinosaur. He's unique and fun. You will need to supply your own air pump and tubing. As other reviewers have pointed out, you will likely need a regulator (an adjustable valve) if you want to have some control over how frequently he bobs up and down. The platform is a bit hard to keep concealed by the aquarium pebbles, especially if the air flow is too strong causing him to shift as he blows bubbles. But if you've regulated the flow to create a slow bob up and down, there's no shifting. For our little tank, home to a few tetras, it's just the right amount of movement and activity, and the right size feature.

We were really stoked to get this adorable Trex, unfortunately it was a huge let down because after a couple of weeks the air was leaking out of his arms so the head did not fill and release. So we would cut the airflow then he would start working again. But after only a couple of hours he would drop and not refill. They need to seal the arms and have them move from an outside part, the holes that the arms are plugged into are what is leaking the air. It was also sort of a pain to have to buy an air pump for this guy, it does not come with one.

Rosewood Colourburst Floral Amazon Butterfly Leaf Ribbon, Blue

This plant is perfect! I Love the color, it brings so much life to the tank. The movement of these plants is beautiful, but because it is so soft and tall it doesn't really stand straight up. It becomes kind of vine like, and moves around a lot.

Perfect for my needs, because I have a lot of driftwood in my tank to hold it where I want it. This is my turtle's favorite plant as well, he has made his "den" underneath it. I am switching to all silk Vibran-sea plants in my 55 gallon turtle tank, and I think I'll end up with 2 extra-large, and 3 large to give it a full effect.

Very flimsy. From the day I placed it in the tank it fell over and and has not moved since. It is sitting at the opposite end of the tank where it is out of the water flow, so that is not the cause. It is basically a trash collector for food bits and algae. Next tank cleaningin the bin it goes.

First off let me say this, this picture does not do this product justice. The product that I received clearly does not look like the picture. I was happy with this product at first, except that it didn't stand up right, the plastic was a little flimsy and would not stand up straight. I solved this issue with a small plastic rod and zip-ties to hold it in place. The biggest issue came a few months later when I saw that my filter were picking up little blue filaments. The silk plants do not last and the blue stuff goes into my filters. One last issue I had is these plants are pretty hard to clean. Perhaps I'm not cleaning them correctly, but if algae gets on them they are there to stay. They are pretty to look at in the water, but not worth the trouble. I'm going to stick with plastic aquarium plants from now on.

I really liked the way this plant looked when I got it, it looks great in the water and moves around like a real plant would. I am disappointed because it has stained a lot. I've tried cleaning it, to no avail. I've read that you shouldn't use bleach to clean anything that will go back in an aquarium so it seems that there aren't too many other options. Nice looking plant if you can figure out a way to clean it.

Picked up two of these Vibran-Sea tall silk plants paired with one medium and they fill up my 75gal tank perfectly. I've had to clean them once in the last six months due to algae buildup. Just lightly scrubbed them under warm water and let them sit in water with bleach. Cleaned them off with declor and other recommended chemicals to neutralize the bleach and they came out with no discoloration or fading. I've got a 175 gal filter on the tank and it does have a tendency to blow over the plants and move them slightly, but this could be because I use a sand substrate. Very vibrant colors in the purple and blue, I'll be sticking with this company to purchase any more plants in the future for my aquarium needs.

The Nature's Miracle Urine Destroyer product works AMAZINGLY well! I have an incontinent dog who "leaks" whenever she falls asleep or lies down to relax. I rescued an entire couch from the brink of destruction by saturating the cushions in this product and leaving them to dry out in the sun. I've also used this product with great success for spot cleaning my carpeting. It's more highly scented than the original Nature's Miracle formula, but in my opinion the scent is very fresh and pleasant, and dissipates over the course of a few days, leaving very little to no scent...and no urine smell, either!

Unfortunately, the power sprayer stopped working about 3 minutes into the job. However, when I contacted United Pet Group (through the Nature's Miracle website) they happily sent me a new sprayer within a few days.

After reading the other review, this product seemed like it might be a miracle product. I'm afraid it wasn't true for me. I ended up having to throw my beautiful 5 x 8 area rug in my living room away. I was so upset that this didn't work for me. It started off good and only got better! I was in need of an aquatic thermometer for my turtley awsome dudes! Green just happens to be my favorite color so when I came across this product I thought I would give it a shot. I have never had any problems with the product slipping from the hole as said in another review. The thermometer has been great; accurate and reliable since day one. It even comes with a replacement battery for when the battery goes dead.

The product works great just like it is suppose too. One flaw that I found was that the thermometer likes to float out of the hole that keeps it attached to the suction cup. Turtle tanks can get dirty, and a little slimy (even though I clean mine every week). The slime build up makes it slippery inside of the hole and the thermometer wants to come loose.

Alright so I just ordered this because seeing as am getting 2 baby turtles I need my water temp. to be correct. I gotit after reading the mixed reviews, it sounded like something I needed and it was digital.

Mine came early, but the reason why I have a problem with it was because it was supposed to come with a battery...it didnt at all. I ordered a replacement, and that one was also without a battery.. Maybe 3rd times the charm, I am a huge fan of zoomed, but this product is pissing mee off.

At the moment, I still dont know how it works seeing as I cant use it.

Ok, so i didn't buy this on Amazon, but i bought it locally at Pets-mart and wanted to warn everyone of my experience with this product.

When i first got the thermometer back in December 4 months ago, it seemed to be working, and i was able to hold my tank temp around 78F. Then the tank temperature gradually started to get colder, so i thought one of my heaters started going bad (although they felt warm when i briefly removed them from the tank). So I ordered a 150W heater from amazon and installed it. I set-up the heater and adjusted it to 80F and left it overnight. When i checked on it in the morning, the tank had went from 64F to 68F... so I left for work hoping it just needed more time to reach temp. When i got home the tank was only at 72F and over the next day or so it didnt move. I temporarily pointed a space heater at the tank to augment the deficient heaters, but the temperature barely went up. I decided to clean the tank that weekend and im glad i did. When i removed the thermometer and set it on the table next to the tank, the temperature reading showed 40F!!! I replaced the battery and same issue. My basement is around 65F, so that means i probably had my tank at 95F+ for 4 days! So far my turtle seems to be ok, but I'm lucky i didnt kill the old guy.

If you decide to buy this product, make sure you have a 2nd temperature measuring device in the tank. I'm starting to get the impression that ZooMed stuff is junk... the floating turtle platforms are another example.

These are great to have in my aquarium tool box. They fit well in my tupperware box, and are nice and thin and light. They come very sharp, so trimming plants is no problem. I've never wiped the water off of them after using, and so far, not even a tiny speck of rust. Great item for such a great price!!! The shipping however, was not the fastest. It was not a problem for me as I was just setting up my planted tank, so I didn't need to do any trimming for some time. Great product though!!!

Nice, sharp, well made, sturdy scissors. We are looking forward to using them in the fish tank to trim our plants.
