Glo T5 HO Electronic Ballast for T5 HO Fluorescent Bulbs, Fits 2 x 54 Watt T5 HO Bulbs

Glo T5 HO Electronic Ballast for T5 HO Fluorescent Bulbs, Fits 2 x 54 Watt T5 HO BulbsI received the unit and plugged everything in and it worked well! For about a month. Then one light appeared to only turn on 1/2 way, then both lights a week or so later. A couple days after that, the light would no longer turn on. When power was cycled, it started to turn on, then went off. I assume that the ballast blew out.

I retrofitted an old coralife fixture I had and the bulbs just barely fit. The two 56 watt T5 bulbs lit the tank beautifully, though, while it worked.

I will try to get a replacement and hopefully it will work better...

I have a 90gal saltwater reef tank loaded with a mix of soft and hard corals.

This was the best deal I could find on T5 HO ballast, so I ordered 3 sets.

Its been 6 months now with them running for 8-12hrs a day with no problems.

Very easy to install

Good quality

I purchased this about a year ago to make a home made aquarium light for my 75 gallon planted tank. The first unit I received emitted a loud 60 Hz buzzing noise from day one but did light up the lamp. I contacted Hagen who assured me that was not normal, and so I had the item replaced via Amazon as a defective unit. The replacement process was painless and the second unit did not share the same issue. The unit is quiet and doesn't produce a ton of heat. I eventually wanted to route my cords off one end of my aquarium rather than both and so I cut and extended two of the leads. I don't advise trying this if you are not comfortable doing so, or have to ask how but it worked for me. While I don't have a PAR meter it didn't cause any perceivable loss in light, nor did it result in any flickering or noise. The power button requires some effort to flip as it is under a plastic bulb, but as I use a light timer this isn't really an issue for me. Here is a video of the planted tank these lights power:

200W 200-Watt 110V Submersible Aquarium Fish Tank Adjustable Heating Pipe Heater

200W 200-Watt 110V Submersible Aquarium Fish Tank Adjustable Heating Pipe HeaterProduct was alright for a little while then it quit working an the cord wasn't long enough at all I had to use a extension cord to use it which is very unsafe for that type of product. Over all I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Nice heater, directions were all in Russian so that made installing difficult. This package took forever to get to my mail box.

This heater is crap, Quit working after 3 weeks. The power cord is way too short and you need a magnifying glass to see the temp. settings. would not recomend this heater to anyone. Not even worth sending back.

Chemi-Pure Elite - 46.98 oz.

Chemi-Pure Elite - 46.98 oz.We have used Chemi-pure for over 10 years and it works better than just activated carbon MUCH better!

We have a 150 gal with eheim classic canister filter and we put it in the filter and it makes the water crystal clear and sparkle.

The fish are showing better color using this. Highly recommend it!

I placed it in my 125G tank (The box says its for 175-220G) and the next day the water was crystal clear. My fish are very healthy and I don't have any issues so far.

I decided to switch into elite and after a month my tank started to smell. This usually means i need to change my carbon again. I only have 50 gallon tank and this should be more then enough for 1 month.

Snoozer- Pet Couch - Small

Snoozer Pet Couch, Small, Highland MaizeThe size that I ordered from their description was off by 2 to 4 inches on every dimension, and the quality was marginal at best.

I have had this bed for my cat before and she loves it. The only reason I am replacing it is my puppy ate the last one. It has high sides and is soft and comfy. Teething puppies will tear up the foam.

Buy Snoozer- Pet Couch - Small Now

This bed doesn't provide much support, and at 24 x 12 x 15 inches, is a quite small for my 11.5 lb. cockerpoo who can't stretch out in it. Even curled up, she completely fills up this bed. I bought it in hopes that she would sleep in it instead of trying to sleep on my bed. She seems to prefer the floor or rocking chair to this bed which she only uses for only small part of the night. Considering returning it.

Timber Hide-A-Way® Natural Wood Huts for Small Pets

Timber Hide-A-Way® Large Natural Wood Hut for Guinea PigsThe gerbil loves it. All the really special food gets taken inside for private eating. He likes the several exits we've noticed gerbils don't like to enter things that don't have another way out. He will also sit on top of it and ponder the world. This is gerbil number 3 the first two loved them as well. This one isn't chewing it up nearly as fast as previous occupants. Do get a couple, since eventually they get fairly chewed up.

I've had a few of these over the years, not because they don't last, but because the gerbils love to chew them, and they are sturdy enough that they are not chewed through. However, when I get a new set of gerbils, they get a new Timber Hide-A-Way. I've never had to buy more than one for each set of gerbils (and, in fact, could use the same one, but give them a new one anyway). They like to play in it and gnaw on it to keep their teeth short.

Buy Timber Hide-A-Way® Natural Wood Huts for Small Pets Now

It's the best chewable habitat I've seen. We had a different model our gerbil demolished -but that model was painted bright colors. I suspect it was somewhat toxic to chew on, though our gerbil survived.

This is unpainted and seems as safe a habitat as one could buy. Only 3 issues:

1. The label was a nuisance to remove.

2. It's tacked together, so hope the gerbil can figure that out.

3. It's made in China, so we can only cross fingers and hope it really is relatively non-toxic.

Update: Well, four issues. Our gerbil is a manic chewer, and he chewed into a tack on a similar structure. He broke a tooth, which the abscessed. He's now the 150 dollar gerbil, recovering post-op. This wood hut has similar tacks holding it together. If Kangaroo recovers fully, we'll cut this structure apart and build him something held together by string.

I had one of these when I had a guinea pig a few years ago. He loved the little wood hut.

It always stayed clean and he enjoyed nibbling on it. A BIG bonus is that it is very durable, and it lasted him about 5 years or so.

I would totally buy one all over again.

Want Timber Hide-A-Way® Natural Wood Huts for Small Pets Discount?

Highly recommended.

Previously I used cardboard boxes with sections cut out for entry and windows. My pig loved those and would immediately start to nibble on them. They were free and lasted about three months. I ensured that there was no ink, tape or labels on the boxes.

I purchased this recently, and my pig loves it, of course. He's already sticks his head out the top and the side window. I think that this is better for him, because it will help his teeth wear down better than a cardboard box. I don't see any dangers in my guinea pig using this.

The construction is very good, no loose pieces. It's also size appropriate. Great product, fast shipping and arrived in good condition.

Fluval Ribbed Hosing Bracket for 104-404, 105-405

Fluval Ribbed Hosing Bracket for 104-404, 105-405We recently bought a 55 gal tank off craigslist and it came with a Fluval filter, having one on our other tank we knew what was missing when we went to set it up. So rather then having 55gal of fish water shooting up the wall and onto the floor (yes that had to happen first before we decided this little guy was rather important) we did the mad scramble to find this part. this place was the cheapest (other then i needed it the next day so amazon made sure i paid for that convenience). I mean the part is what it is, it holds the tube in the tank nothing fancy no ponies will shoot out, your fish Won't dance because of it, However i don't want to kill my husband when i get up in the morning to find the living room flooded So i suppose it does prevent divorce and homicide.

I am a long time FLUVAL user. Have been using 205 for about 4.5 yrs. After it stopped working, I upgraded to 305 and have been using it for 6 years. Both models have been the work horse that keep my 70 gallon aquarium crystal clear for 10 years. I can tell you that while I was using 205, I constantly think about a better way to keep the hose neatly curled to the tank wall . . . I had a peace of mind for 6 years once I upgraded to 305 as it came with these brackets.

Well, I now upgrade from aquarium to outdoor 300 gallon fish tank. I bought Rubber Maid stock tank. Although I design a new pump and filter system that is adequate for the size and fishes. I continue to use FLUVAL 305 as a supplemental filter . . well primarily because I want to use the strong jet stream to keep that surface water moving. To my pleasant surprise, these brackets also fit with Rubber Maid tank. it just happened that I accidentally break the top cover of these brackets recently that I need to order the replacements (I tried different ways, but nothing work better than this bracket).

I found the replacement parts from PETSMART to be the best (price $6.99 each + shipment charge). Although it is for 304, but checking with Fluval.com, it appears to use the same ribbed hose size etc. Sorry, AMAZON sellers, I just don't understand why this simple plastic bracket will be sold for this quoted price here plus outrages shipping charge.

Bought this to turn my Fluval filter to make it clean two tanks instead of one. Everything works great!

Received my parts quick and I am happy with everything.

Lily glass pipes 9mm for aquarium + free sucker

Lily glass pipes 9mm for aquarium + free suckerI just received these in the mail and they are really good looking. For 18.00 (shipped) it's great.

I ordered the small (it's listed as lily pipe s) without realizing it, but luckily it is for my small 7 gallon tank.

I believe they have the large version pictured, so an accurate picture of the sizes would have been a little helpful.

The small (s) version comes with only one suction cup (when pictured as 2), and I was hoping it would come with 2, but I can live with it or just order some cheap clear ones off ebay.

I ordered these intending to use them with the EHEIM 2211 canister filter, and it doesn't look like this version of lily pipes is going to match the hoses that come with the filter.

a little more detail in the measurements in sizes would have been really helpful. So I will have to do some of my own testing of hose sizes from these to the EHEIM in order to confirm if it will work or not. I will definitely have to buy a different hose with a smaller diameter to fit these, though.

I will be ordering the Medium (m) sized lily pipes as they should be the perfect size for my 18 gallon tank.

I will definitely update this review once I have both.

The shipping wasn't extremely long, but it wasn't fast either. The packaging wasn't over the top (individually divided & bubble wrapped. No fragile or glass warning,) but it arrived in perfect condition, and you can't expect much coming from out of country, costing 18.00, and labeled in a different language

Zilla Light Incandescent Bulb

Zilla 09912 Night Black Heat Incandescent Bulb, 50-WattThey do provide heat but burn out very fast. First bulb 6 hours second bulb 24 hours.Have not tried third bulb.

I use this particular brand bulb for my evening lighting in several vivariums, and have used them for 18 months now. Recently I had a few go out, and it wasn't viable for me to hit the local pet store, so I grabbed them via Amazon Prime.

PROS:

* Great bulb for all day heat, or evening heat

* Excellent gentle "moonlighting"

* Quality, lasts a very long time

CONS:

* Ordered a couple, had one go out within seconds for no apparent reason (I'll bet it got knocked around in the mail). Might just pay off to order extras, you should have some on hand anyhow

OTHER:

* Amazon customer service is OUTSTANDING, they had a replacement bulb shipped to me the next day

* When installing these I feel it's best to leave no fingerprints or other body oils on the bulb, once it's screwed in. So use a soft cloth to tighten it, or once it's screwed in, wipe it clean

VIVARIUM HEATING INFO:

* Remember, proper heating for your pet (air and floor temperature) can mean the difference between not just happiness and stress, but proper digestion and life in general

* For many reptiles, floor temperature is most important, followed by air temperature. You'll need to measure floor temps to make sure it's within the proper range for your pet.

* One of these bulbs sitting on top of a 20L vivarium will heat the surface of a rock, which is 6" below the bulb, to about 98*. The floor temperature will be a little less. Use under-tank heaters for best results, such as Zoo Med ReptiTherm® Under Tank Heater, Medium

* Higher wattage means more output, it also means the closer an object or pet is to the bulb, the hotter it will be for them. Keep that in mind.

* Make sure your bulb is sized properly for your lighting enclosure, not only physically, but for the wattage as well. You don't want to put a 150watt bulb in a 100watt socket.

Buy Zilla Light Incandescent Bulb Now

It provides warmth, which is its main function, but I gave only 4 stars because calling it "Black Heat" is a bit misleading. The bulb looks black when it's off, but it gives a purple light when on. At full intensity, it can interfere with sleep. If you need true darkness, get a ceramic heat lamp.

Read Best Reviews of Zilla Light Incandescent Bulb Here

I purchased two of these lightbulbs, and wish I hadn't, as the first one exploded (for no apparent reason) about 3 days after putting it to use as a chick brooder warmer. Thankfully I was close by and heard the sound, as glass shards were all over the brooder. I found a bit of blood, but haven't found an injury among the chicks. I had it screwed into an appropriate holder, it wasn't being touched by anything, and had plenty of circulating air around it I have no idea why it broke so explosively. DO NOT BUY IF YOU VALUE YOUR ANIMALS. I have the second bulb in use currently, with strong, fine wire mesh completely enclosing it just in case, and a second heat lamp different brand bulb just in case this one breaks also. As soon as I can buy a different bulb this one is going into the garbage.

It was the right light for the job, until it burned out. It burned out within 3 weeks of purchasing. I was pretty upset because my turtles had spent a long time waiting for it to ship when our last one unexpectedly burned out. I usually love the rzilla products but for some reason this one was a dud.

New Life Spectrum Freshwater Flakes w/Garlic - 90 g

New Life Spectrum Freshwater Flakes w/Garlic - 90 gI love New Life Spectrum food. They don't load their products up with all that extra crap, like soy, wheat, by product etc. My fish go crazy for it and you only have to feed a little. The fish are getting more out of the food, and processing less so there is less waste in my opinion as well

This is an alternative way to soaking in garlic. The fishes love them. The details on this product is very easy to follow.

I did some research before buying this. I had been using Tetra products for decades but couldn't find them in my LFS so started looking online. Online ratings put New Life Spectrum products at the top of the list so I went for this. My fish love it but then they'll eat pretty much anything. I guess the proof will be in their longevity and lack of diseases.

Tetra 26170 Whisper Bio-Bag Cartridge, Large, 3-Pack

Tetra 26170 Whisper Bio-Bag Cartridge, Large, 3-PackFor the price, these filters rock! They keep my 28-gallon tank's water crystal clear and my fish thrive. I heartily recommend these filters to anyone.

It was a mild headache to find the right size filter cartridge. Tetra had released a new Medium and Large size from their previous release. I took a chance and this one fit my Tetra 10-30i filter. It works really well in trapping the excretions and more from my turtle. I leave it on for a few hours a day and the tank stays relatively clean. Though for the health of my turtle, I still change the water at least once a week.

Finnex 50-Watt Hang-On Digital Controller Aquarium Heater, Titanium Tube, 10 to 20-Gallon

Finnex 50-Watt Hang-On Digital Controller Aquarium Heater, Titanium Tube, 10 to 20-GallonActually, I'd give this 4.5 stars.

Keeps my 10 gallon tank within 1-2 degrees as advertised and seems sturdy enough to last a long time.

What I did not know from the product description and pictures on Amazon is that this unit also has a separate wired temperature sensor which also needs to be placed into the tank along with the heating element (but located far enough away from it so as not to be reading too high). So you actually have 3 pieces of equipment all connected together.

Also, the two suction cups on the heating element, while clinging to the glass with ease, tend to slide around with the gentlest of pressure. If you want to place your heating element just right you will have to be very careful not to move the cords or disturb anything that touches it.

Pros:

Solidly built

Keeps temp to within 2 degrees

No glass parts to crack

Separate sensor placed away from heater gives a more accurate reading

Digital readout of current temperature

High temperature safety shut-off feature

Cons:

Separate sensor is just another thing that will take up space in a small tank (albiet it is small itself)

Suction cups on heater slide on glass easily if disturbed

Main cord to heating element could be a bit longer

So far, this heater has been stable holding temps on my Eheim Aquastyle 9 tank (rimless design). Setting seems easy enough.

My only concern is that in my application the cable that goes into the tank for the heating unit itself is fairly thick and causes the glass lid for my particular tank to not sit flat. I've lost a couple of shrimp that climbed over the edge due to this. I'm in the process of creating a new top cover that will have a notch for the heater cable so that the cover can sit closer to the edge of the glass and hopefully avoid any more escapee issues.

I think the product could be slightly improved by using a flat power cable like the heater that I upgraded from used.

My situation is probably not common, so for most tanks this seems like a very good product.

Buy Finnex 50-Watt Hang-On Digital Controller Aquarium Heater, Titanium Tube, 10 to 20-Gallon Now

its been workin great and very easy to use, heater element is shorter than expected, I know it only comes with a 6 month warranty so we see if it lasts past the mark

I really like this heater. Its very short so it will fit in most hob filters and be out of sight.

I also like that it has a digital programmable read out, which makes it much easier to read and set the temp.

This worked great -for as long as it worked. Suddenly after 6 months, it burned out: The middle of the heating element is now black. Since it has only a 180 day warranty, we were out of luck. the manufacturer offered to replace component parts of it for a fee -but we would have to ship the unit back to them and we couldn't leave the tank without a heater. So we replaced it with a $10 heater that has a two-year warranty, so that heater could go out three times in a year and we'd still come out comparitively ahead. I'm extremely disappointed in this unit and manufacturer.

Tetra SafeStart Treats

Tetra 77961 SafeStart Treats, 30-Gallon, 100-ml, 3.38-OunceA little context, I use this site quite a bit and rarely review. i felt the need to jump in and supply some details about my experience.

We have a new 10g aquarium that we purchased 6 weeks ago for our 2 year old son's enjoyment. understanding the cycling phases that we had to go through,we entered the process with eyes wide open, at least we thought. We had a fish die about every 3 days and I purchased a kit to test levels and saw that we were off the charts. I wrestled with 50% tank changes and kept the tank very clean, as fish were still dying it felt hopeless. Our son grew frustrated not having any fish to enjoy, and our tank looked no closer to cycling than when we started.

Some research later, I came upon this product, why not give it a shot, can't hurt! It arrived mid day and i checked my levels before i put in the product and the water was clearly toxic. 24 hours later the tank was tested again and it had FULLY cycled! We took a sample in to the petstore to verify and they said the water is cycled and perfect for new fish. I am happy to report a perfectly balanced ecosystem becausse of this product.

I hope this post helps people decide to go for it, fantastic product, my fish thank you!

PS. We have had great success with our tank and have since moved to a much larger 26 gallon tank. I purchased this product to cycle it for us, and once again, within 1 day perfect ecosystem and no fatalities! You guys really did this right!

We moved my daughter's 7-inch goldfish "Willow" into a 55 gallon tank kind of on the spot. We were going on a 3 day trip away from home and realized the fish wasn't going to fare well in her little tank up in my daughter's bedroom without her daily water change. We had been discussing setting up a larger tank, but where it would go, how large, and if we would be adding more fish were in the debate and research process. Now with this "emergency" we made our decisions that we would be getting some more fish, and that goldfish needed large tanks for best safety for them. We decided on the largest tank we could find at the zero hour and worry about adding tank mates later.

After the trip I found that I had to do almost daily water changes and ammonia treatment even in the big new tank! I looked all over the internet and got educated on tank cycling. The problem is, we had already thrown out or let dry out all of the old media and had no bacteria to cycle the tank with. Information suggested Willow would be cycling that big tank for months all on her own. I doubted it would ever establish without killing her first.

Tetra Safestart has been the rescuer. It didn't work instantly, it took 7 days for all readings to come to .25, 0, 5.0 (ammonia, nitrite, nitrate respectively) but her water was about 68 degrees and our normal tap PH is 8.2. High PH and cold water probably slowed it down along with such a light bio-load. I did make the fortunate mistake of trying to lower her water PH by .2 which likely helped the cycling along.

The Safestart was added 17 days before I write this and the readings are still holding, the ammonia is actually a little less but not quite zero. Yes, I know I should vacuum more often. I have de*nitrate stuffed in the filters here and there to absorb nitrates. I haven't need to do water changes for any other reason but the PH levels since adding Safestart. 7 days after starting her tank cycle, I used the swish-ings from the filters to cycle a quarantine tank for the incoming new tenants. Their tank cycled even faster! That is enough to convince me that this bacteria continues to live, reproduce and re-establish itself. It's the right kind of bacteria, I highly recommend this product.

Buy Tetra SafeStart Treats Now

My tank had been cycling for about a month and the nitrites were ridiculously high and it seemed like no matter how many water changes I did they wouldn't go down. I ordered this product thinking that it could do nothing but help if it actually worked. I ordered the bottle for 70 gallons for my 40 gallon tank and used as instructed. By the next day my nitrites had dropped and by the end of the week they were zero. The next week I added about 6 fish and over the course of the week neither ammonia or nitrites rose. Its been about 2 weeks since I added those last round of fish and everything appears to be stable.I totally recommend this product to everyone who is a little impatient to wait for a full cycle.

Read Best Reviews of Tetra SafeStart Treats Here

Here is how we used this product:

1. bought a 20 gallon tank, set up with water, gravel, filter, etc. and let it run a few days while awaiting SafeStart delivery.

2. Ordered safestart 250 ml (good for 75 gallon)

3. Got the delivery promptly; the expiration date on the bottle was in a full year--menaing, the stuff was freshly packaged.

4. Got 3 platies, added them to tank same time as poured in 1/4 of the bottle (shook the bottle before pouring)

5. Fed the fish, tested the water.

6. On day 5 ammonia was rising to .5 ppm and no trace of nitrites or nitrates...so decided Safestart failed.

7. Reread the instructions on Safestart. It said add the ENTIRE bottle. so I shook the bottle hard and added the rest to the tank, plus washed out the bottle with tank water.

8. Tank water got cloudy, meaning bacterial bloom.

9. The next day ammonia and nitrites were 0, nitrates were 10ppm...

10. TANK IS CYCLED!

2 possibilities why my first attempt did not work:

a. Maybe there was not enough "food" for bacteria when I first added Safestart, and it worked better when there was ammonia present.

b. Maybe you have to add the whole bottle cuz bacteria settle on the bottom even if you shake the bottle...

Want Tetra SafeStart Treats Discount?

This bacterial supplement product is the ONLY one out there that actually works. It has REAL bacteria in it and not the dead stuff you find in most of these type of products. It is a pity that local fish stores or large pet marts push other products that dont work. They must get kick backs from them or something.

I have used this product after I had to medicate a fish tank (which destroys good bacteria)...when I had ammonia or nitrites spikes (even after I have an already cycled tank). This cured all problems within a day. This adds more of the good bacteria to your tank and literally neutralizes any threats. You dont have to use this all the time, like other bacteria supplements...just when you need it. Brilliant product!

API PH Up Aquarium PH Adjuster, 16-OunceGreat product! It does exactly what it says it will do. If you have a large tank or two (like me), you may not have time to do the monthly water change. It's great to have this product to adjust the water so it won't be too acidic. If the water PH is incorrect, some fish might start losing some of their scales and grow pale. Then you add some Ph UP, the water gets milky white for a while... like it's a smoke inside the fishtank. That's ok. It means the product is working!

I have 2 65-gallon tanks so I rely on this water adjuster all the time. And it works fabulously! If only I could find an adjuster for my life to do the same...

Good price on this large bottle, much better than the local stores. Definitely works as advertised, helps me keep the PH just right.

Good value for this size product vs the 4 oz bottle in my local pet store. Just refill the smaller bottle to keep using the squeeze-drop.

Works exactly as they say it should. I added a few drops to a bucket of water and tested to see the PH go up before using in a fish tank to get an idea of how powerful it is. A few drops can go a long way actually.

Quiet One Lifegard Aquarium Pump, 1664-Gallon Per Hour

Quiet One Lifegard Aquarium Pump, 1664-Gallon Per HourI am using this pump on my 90gal Reef/Fish tank.

When moving my previous tank to my new house I used this pump to pump the water from the street (32gal trash cans in the back of my Accord) up 12' to my house. This pump had enough to do it in no time! I also couldn't even tell the pump was on it was so quiet...

Once I installed it in my sump it was a different story... I used hard mounted PVC to the pump and it had a loud hum... Because it had been so quiet before I realized that it would be good to have a softer coupler (vinyl tubing) to isolate the vibration... Once I did that it was VERY QUIET!

Would recommend 100%...

Owned 1 month and it seems like a high quality product.

It broke after using it for about a month as a return on my sump. I had to pay to send it back I didn't like that, they didn't even offer to let me pay them for the rate they get so it was retail shipping for a bad piece of equipment. It's been more than 30 days since I returned it but I haven't received it back. Will NOT get a Lifegard pump again. PS It wasn't any quieter than the mag drive I replaced it with.

Fluval Spec III Aquarium Kit, 2.6-Gallon

Fluval Spec III Aquarium Kit, 2.6-Gallon, BlackI have had this tank running for about 10 days, and it's been excellent so far for my betta. The tank is mainly the same model as the Fluval Spec 2. This new version has a different LED light fixture that hangs over the lid and is not adjustable like the Spec 2 light. The small knob that tightens the clamp doesn't turn much but doesn't affect the light's performance. The 3-stage filtration is the same, and you may need something (spoon, fish net handle) to push the pump down into the compartment, but it fits fine once it's in (make sure to adjust the flow strength the way you want it before putting the pump in to avoid having to get it out again). The only other difference from the Spec 2 is obviously a bigger living space for tank inhabitants. The capacity rating is 2.6 gallons, but I found it to hold a little more, almost 3 gallons. I was interested in the Spec 2 previously, but didn't get it for either of my bettas because it's a little too small in my opinion.

As with the Spec 2, the Spec 3 filter pump's flow is adjustable, but still way too strong. Even on the lowest setting, it's much too strong for a betta. Fortunately this is easily remedied by inserting a tiny piece(s) of filter sponge into the nozzle. You will need something very tiny to jam it in with, such as a paper clip or pin of some kind. It will take some trial and error with different sized pieces of sponge, but it's worth it once you get a flow going that doesn't bother the fish.

If you have a tropical fish, you will probably need a heater. Obviously with a betta I needed one. I actually have 2 heaters in the back compartment of the tank, an 8 watt and a 10 watt, since one of them alone wasn't enough to keep the temperature at 78F or higher, especially since the weather is cooling down where I live. Also, depending on the wattage of your heater, you may have to move it from the filtration compartment to the other side of the wall into the living space of the tank (at least for a couple hours), since the pump flow might not adequately spread the heat around the tank. This will especially be true if you stuff sponge into the pump nozzle like I did to reduce strength of the water flow. Unless it's summer or you live in a very warm climate, I would recommend at least a 10 watt heater.

This is a great looking and well-functioning tank. The only negative issues for me are the excessively strong filter flow, which is fixable, and the difficulty of tightening the light fixture, which is a minor issue since a somewhat loose light still works fine and shouldn't be a problem unless you have pets or kids running around near the tank...plus the issue may only be with my unit to begin with. I strongly recommend this tank. I will update if I experience any problems.

I purchased this tank at a local pet store since I could not have it shipped to me, but I wanted to leave a review since I spent so much time on Amazon reading reviews to help me decide.

The tank is clean and modern looking, made primarily of glass with two small aluminum "columns" to cover up the corner seams. The back wall and filtration/pump compartments are made from plastic/acrylic, but they are nice quality. Plenty of room for what's included plus additional space for a submersible heater. The lid is just thin acrylic, and while nothing special, it is easy to take on and off and may even be optional if you aren't worried about your fish jumping out. It has an ample cutout in the back to allow for the cords to exit the compartments. Overall the quality of the tank is very good compared to what is usually offered for Bettas in a chain pet store, and I think if you are serious about the hobby it is worth the money and your fish will be happy. The included light is sleek and low profile, easy to install. Not adjustable, so what you see in the advertised picture is the only height the light can be placed at. I think the LED lighting is very nice, not too harsh, and I like that it doesn't heat up like incandescent lights do.

I have had this tank set up for just two days now, and my fish must think he's been upgraded to a 5-star hotel compared to his previous tank, which was an Aqueon MiniBow 1 gallon tank. (Which IMO was awful for Betta...the filtration "system" is terrible...do not recommend.) The Fluval tank is just under 3 gallons, and as long as you don't overdo the decorations, there is plenty of room for Betta to be comfy. Set up was simple enough, though many reviewers complained that the pump is hard to place. Yes, it was tricky but it was not impossible. Just takes a bit of patience and perhaps keep your fish net handy to use the handle. Don't forget to set the pump on the lowest setting using the slider before you place it down into the compartment. Once the pump is placed there is plenty of room in the pump compartment to place a reasonably sized heater. I went with the Fluval 25W preset heater just because that was what was available for this size tank in the store. It fits nicely into the compartment, though I recommend sticking it to the black divider since it would not stay suctioned to the back acrylic wall of the tank. Once setup was complete, I plugged in the pump and was happy to find that it is in fact nearly silent. I only knew it was on because I could see the current flow. If you are right next to the tank, there is a barely audible hum, but nothing obnoxious in the least.

The pump output line has an adjustable nozzle that has a fairly decent range of movement. Many reviewers commented that the current was too strong for a Betta, and in my case, I have to agree. It is not as bad as the MiniBow current, and the fact that it is adjustable is a plus. There were lots of suggestions on how to reduce the current, and in my situation, I bought a taller plastic swordtail plant from PetCo and stuffed some of the leaves into the nozzle opening as well as arranged more leaves around to break up the current flow. This worked like a charm without having to damage the air tubing or purchase any extra items. Other suggestions included stuffing some sponge into the nozzle head or installed an in-line ball valve to the air line. With my particular 'fix', there is still a touch of surface movement but not enough to disturb my Betta or sweep all of his food into the filter before he gets a chance to eat it.

Overall I am extremely satisfied with this tank. I don't plan to add any other fish or animals in with the Betta, so the size is perfect and it has a conservative footprint. If you are considering this tank, I strongly recommend it, especially over plastic or acrylic tanks. I will try to post some pictures of my setup ASAP. I hope this helps!

I got the white version. I wanted to set up a tank with brackish water for the little red Hawaiian shrimp. I laid the tank over on its side with the filter side down and had no trouble placing the motor in. I think for most fish that are not still water species, like an angel or a betta, the flow of the motor on the low setting will be just about right. If you want to decrease the flow some more, bore a little hole in the tube between the motor and the nozzle. This will harmlessly bleed off pressure before it reaches the nozzle. I used aquarium sealant to glue a two inch thick block of pre filter foam over the slotted filter intake. This will not be needed with most fish. The slotted intake is a good design. The little shrimp though are very tiny and could easily be sucked in, never to be seen again. The thick foam block that I added covers the slots plus a wide area around them. The intake flow seems as gentle and diffuse as an air driven foam filter. The water level in the filter is almost even with that in the tank, indicating no significant resistance to the inflow. I expect that the snails and shrimp will keep this pre filter foam pretty clean, but I can squeeze it out in place if it clogs. There is a small slot 2/3 the way down on the filter wall to let water enter a special area of the supplied filter block. I plugged it with sealer to keep tiny things from getting sucked in. I am impressed with the size of the supplied filter foam block. Properly cycled it should easily handle the light bio load that I expect to have in the tank. I have the tank heavily decorated with dead coral, barnacles, rocks, and aragonite sand. The current created by the pump can only be detected by the slight movement of the water on the surface where the nozzle is. It runs as quiet as a mouse p**ing on cotton. The lid will help with evaporation and keep most things from jumping out. The light is plenty bright to display the tank. I believe that it will be adequate to grow the hair like macro algae that I have in there. As I write this the tank is cycling with the algae and snails. It is as pretty as a picture. I would have gotten the Spec V, but my space was not long enough. I would buy this one again. It seems like a great little tank.

Loving Pets Dolce Dish Dog Bowl, Small, 1 Pint, Merlot

Loving Pets Dolce Dish Dog Bowl, Small, 1 Pint, MerlotI bought 3 different colors of these bowls, one for each of my dogs. It is kind of funny but each of them picked the color of the bowl that they eat out of. What we like about them is that the stainless bowl pops out for easy cleaning. The snap on rim keeps the bowl from tipping and spilling which eliminates a lot of messes.

This bowl is great for our Pug, she doesn't have to chase it all over like she did her last bpwl. It stays put very well. I love that the stainless dish is removeable and can be placed in the dishwasher. The only thing I don't like is that the bowl is so hard to get out of the holder. I have to give it all my oomph, then it generally finally pops and goes flying, clattering across the floor. I wish it was a little easier to remove.

I ordered this dish bowl for my dog who is so cute and she loves to eat all the time. They're great because when they eat from it the bowl stays in one place. I also love the design and color of it.

This was a good purchase. Not thrilled, but it is a dog dish. Our Welsh Terrier loves it, and that is the important thing.
