Nutrafin Master Test Kit, Contains 10 Test Parameters

Nutrafin Master Test Kit, Contains 10 Test ParametersThis is a nice kit, I really like the case. It does have every test you would need for a planted freshwater and a saltwater tank.

The case makes it nice and easy to test. You can use the case as a test tube holder while you add drops if you need an extra hand. The pipettes make it easy to get and add water to the test tubes. It's easy to read the results of the tests except for the pH. I did get frustrated with the pH test because some of the colors are so close it makes it harder to get an exact reading. But you can get it with practice. However, I have been having problems with my pH and was testing so much I just bought a HM Digital PH-200 Waterproof pH and Temperature Meter. So I use the kit for everything else besides the pH and will occasionally compare the kit pH to the meter.

The color charts for the tests are on the back cover of each individual test booklet. Each test comes with its own little test booklet that tells you how to do the test in multiple languages.

So if you have a planted tank or saltwater tank or just want to have all the tests this is a nice test kit. But if you just want a test kit for all the needed parameters for freshwater then all you really need is the API FRESHWATER MASTER TEST KIT

One thing that is annoying is the caps for the test tubes are loose and as long as you hold it by the top and the bottom of the tube it is sealed just fine for shaking the chemicals to mix them. But when you pull the top off it is very likely that you will get some of the contents of the tube on your fingers. The test tube caps could be designed a whole lot better.

This kit has everthing you need and then some, for aquatic plant care! Great price as each of these kits in the store will run you twenty dollars and up times ten. . . . you do the math!

This is my second one.... cheaper than trying to replace the tubes and reagents. It's the most complete kit I could find and reasonably priced.

If you are serious about your livestock and reef-keeping, this test kit is not good. It has a nice plastic case, and all looked great when I opened it up. I was excited to use it but colors are WAY off and near impossible to read for anything over 0ppm of the color chart comparisons on several of the tests (including NH3 & NO3). NH3 is almost worthless even for 0ppm. NO3 will help you know you have 0 or slightly more, but anything over that good luck in determining what your value actually is. Phosphates color chart is okay, but is low resolution (lowest comparison above 0ppm is .225 which is already in your danger zone). Some of the test results are not consistent (like CA I can test and get 500, turn around and a second test will give me 580. An old API I have more consistently will read like 480). I do not advise hagen kits to anyone and will not ever waste my money on them again. I may keep the case to store future kits from different makers though... but this was basically a $50 cheap plastic case.

Want Nutrafin Master Test Kit, Contains 10 Test Parameters Discount?

This Kit is ideal for any Aquarium lover, especially Salt Water enthusiast. It has all the basic test Kits you will need to water analysis. If you priced out buying each test from one of the other manufacturers you would spend easily $170 or more. Then you would not have a neat place to keep them all. Though the quantities of each test is probably less than what you would get from others. The only other test I had to buy for my Reef Aquarium is Iodide, Magnesium, Copper. I don't think there is anything else I need that this kit doesn't have. The Price is just Great at $81. Hope you find this helpful. Good luck with your aquarium!

Loving Pets Dolce Dish Dog Bowl, Medium, 1 Quart, Murano

Loving Pets Dolce Dish Dog Bowl, Medium, 1 Quart, MuranoThis bowl is not very heavy like the last stainless steel bowl that I had. That's a good thing! My dog is only 22 lbs. No reason to have a bowl that weighs half her weight when there is a rubber removable band around the bottom to prevent movement. The paw prints are a dark brown which looks better than if they would be the typical black color. Seems like sturdy plastic and looks really nice.

Impeller Assembly for Laguna PowerJet 1300 Electronic Fountain Pump, Laguna Original 3000 Pond Pump

Impeller Assembly for Laguna PowerJet 1300 Electronic Fountain Pump, Laguna Original 3000 Pond Pump Kit and the Water Garden Original 3000 Pond PumpWell, you can hardly complain about the product when you have no other options available to you :) Anyways, I have to replace the impeller about once a year and it is imperative that after you take the pump apart you clean it thoroughly before re-installing the new impeller otherwise, any debris that is left behind could shorten the lifespan significantly. I wish they would use a slightly harder more durable plastic on the actual blades of the impeller and the main shaft since that seems to be the part that brakes most often...until then, $20.00 a year to keep the pond up and running!

Several years ago I bought 2 Laguna 5 utility pumps for my fish ponds. They were amazingly inexpensive and did a bang-up job for many years. I recently moved and installed a new fishpond with a waterfall and attempted to use one of the old pumps. Sadly, it would not run for longer than 60 seconds and nothing I could do would fix it. When I tried to buy a new one, I quickly discovered they are no longer made, and an equivalent Laguna pump now cost over $200. While I was cursing Laguna for their greedy ways and desperately Googling for a reasonable replacement, one of my searches found this impeller assembly. While the description didn't actually list the Laguna 5, it did come up in the search and it looked like the old one. Considering how little it cost as compared to a whole new pump, I figured I'd take a shot. I'm happy to say that it worked like a champ. It's been happily pumping away for about 3 weeks now without a hitch.

Microbe-Lift TheraP Pathogen Controller

Microbe-Lift TheraP Pathogen Controller, 8.5-OunceI have been using TheraP for around 2 years after discovering it in smaller bottles at a local fish store (with a 75 gallon aquarium, I needed larger bottles and found the 16 oz size online). I use it in conjunction with another great product Special Blend. TheraP does reduce disease outbreaks helping to boost fish immunity. The Microbe-Lift products I use are all CHEMICAL free and 100% safe for my fish when used as directed. You will notice an odor right out of the bottle, but that goes away very quickly once you add it to your aquarium.

I have tried most Microbe-Lift products available for freshwater this is one of the must haves. Since I really liked TheraP and Special blend, I looked up the company online and found other great products they make (check their web site). Most of their products are available through various web sites.

Another plus, is the great customer service this company has. If you have a question about a product, you will get an answer from the company. I am always treated with great respect by their associates.

It is nice to see that both Special Blend and TheraP are available here at Amazon. I have added a bottle to my orders on occasion to bring me to the Free Shipping option (for other products or books I was ordering).

This product is definitely worth it to me. It helps keep the water and my fish healthy for longer time periods than without the product. I can definitely extend the time between filter cleanings.

I use this to put good bacteria into my tank and to avoid water changes. It dissolves harmful bacteria and creates the good kind.

(I let my water sit a few days which takes out the chlorine the natural way before adding it to the tank.) It also seems to be good for the fish and make them happy. Even yellow tubing will turn clear and the water clears up as well. After trying every chemical on the market that instantly killed my fish, this one is a life saver. You can go 4-5 months without water changes with a good filter and this stuff and just adding new water in as it evaporates. So far so good, and it's natural. (Yes it smells like sulfur but your tank doesn't and it will take the fish odor out of the tank.)

From the company's site:

Chemical free

Increases resistance to pathogens and parasites

Establishes and maintains symbiotic microbial populations

Biologically supports a healthy aquarium eco-system which results in a beneficial breeding environment

Stimulates fish's immune system

Promotes fish growth

Improves dissolved oxygen levels

Aids respiration and gas exchange

Oxidizes both ammonia and nitrites. Also reduces nitrates

Beneficial when overpopulation exists

Reduces environmental stress

Digests fish waste

Seeds and helps maintain biological filters

Compatible with most aquarium flora and fauna

Effective over a wide range of pH conditions

Will not significantly alter the mineral balance of the aquarium water

Eliminates noxious odors

Coaster Aquatica Magic Globe - Fountain WellI am a elementary school teacher and I love fish and always have fish tanks in my class rooms. I saw this very unique fountain aquarium and set it up in my classroom (with little help from the instructional DVD that it came with) and immediately it got the attention from all the kids in the class. We love this aquarium and the waterfall is very soothing in a way that helps me with my stress management. I highly recommend this product to everyone and especially to little children.

KollerCraft AQUARIUS AquaView 360 Aquarium Kit with LED Light - 3-Gallon

KollerCraft AQUARIUS AquaView 360 Aquarium Kit with LED Light - 3-GallonI got this little kit for my crown-tail betta Zurich. I think it's a fantastic little tank if you stock it correctly and know how to work with nano systems.

Granted for most if not all suitable fish you will need a heater, as the tank design causes anything on the rear wall to be magnified I opted for a small 7.5 watt under gravel heater, it works like a charm and my fish stays nice and happy.

Hydor MINI HEATER Aquarium Heater 7.5 Watts for Tanks 2-5 gal

I use this tank for a planted set up and could only be happier if it came with a small internal filter rather then the UGF, but whatcha gonna do? It's not a big deal to me since I'm familiar with them from previous years of fish keeping. I've posted a picture with more information on my setup in the photo section as well.

It's been running for 3 weeks and so far I have not had any issues with bacterial blooms (cloudy water) or regular cleaning and water changes. If you have any questions feel free to comment, I'll be happy to answer =)

Pros: This aquarium is great for a betta! My crowntail betta, Icy, loves having lots of room to swim around. Set up was very easy, no problems. It looks great and would be a wonderful night light with the beautiful color changes.

Cons: The plastic is rather flimsy, it's difficult to move the aquarium unless you remove most of the water first. The ornaments you can put in are very limited in size, because of the circular tank and the plastic tube in the center. My biggest disappointment and the main reason I'm only giving this aquarium two stars is because after only owning it for 2 months the 4 colored lighting unit went out. I would also like to note that this is not with full time use, the light is usually only on for 12 hours a day. I turn it off in the evenings. I've been trying to replace it for the last month, and have been unable to get ahold of anyone in the company. I finally found a form online that allows me to order a replacement bulb, but it's going to cost $6.00 plus $6.95 for shipping and handling and will take 3-4 weeks for delivery. $13.00 every other month is way too much for standard two month maintenance on an aquarium, plus the hassel of finding where you can even order a replacement! Very disappointed the light didn't last longer, my poor fishy has to swim in the dark until I can get the bulb fixed.

Buy KollerCraft AQUARIUS AquaView 360 Aquarium Kit with LED Light - 3-Gallon Now

DO not buy this tank! The led lights burned out in about a month. the lights are situated where moisture and condensation can get to them causing the housing screws to rust and let water in. the tank is also hard to clean because the HUGE filter tube is right in the middle. Inevitably the fish hide behind there and around the curve to where you can't enjoy them. The worst part is trying to get replacement parts. the sent an order form along with the aquarium but everything is so expensive.$7.95 for the light but $6.95 to ship ( c'mon man ). Good luck calling, they never answer there phone and NEVER return calls. On the upside it makes a pretty cool terrarium for exotic plants now ( which is why i gave it two stars instead of one ;) ) I suggest buying the Tetra Cube 3 gallon for the same price. The lighting is better and easier to clean. It has a real filter and not a bubblestone which caused too much disruption for my betta. I find it the perfect size for him, He seems really happy, but then again I am no betta mind reader. If you have a betta in mind then the Tetra tank is the way to go IMHO. It's the same price too! Don't make the mistake i did. And remember, these are acrylic tanks and will scratch EASY. be careful when cleaning...very careful.

I got more than I expected with this tank! I opened the box and it was well organized. The tank took me about twenty minutes to set up, add rocks, and water.

It came with the tank (obviously), the air pump, the ug (under gravel) filter, and the LED lights. Everything was a good quality and the tube has a fish protector so your fish can't go in and get hurt.

I did research and learned that ug filters aren't the most affective and best so I bought a second filter to add in, It'll keep my tank more clean.

The different color LED lights are beautiful! they obviously aren't as dark as the pictures shown, but they're so pretty!

I absolutely recommend this for people looking for a beginner tank. It's clear and it looks quite classy.

It also comes with a sample of water conditioner and fish food. :) Recommend this to anyone looking for a nice fish tank!

Want KollerCraft AQUARIUS AquaView 360 Aquarium Kit with LED Light - 3-Gallon Discount?

This tank is alright, I really loved it when I first got it, until certain problems came to play.

1: The pump it comes with is weak. You cannot put the air stone to the bottom without it stopping. I guess the water pressure is greater than the pump's power

2: Small fish can get into the cylinder tube where the air stone goes through (they provide a covering for the top of the tube, but fish still find their way in and the only way to get them out is by taking out the tube (and since its inserted into the ground filter you have to completely take the tank apart) or hope your fish is smart enough to swim out. I bought this tank for my baby Mollies, they arent smart fish

3: (AND THIS IS WHERE I REALLY GET UPSET) I've had this tank set up for about a month, the green LED already went out, and the individual colors are not as bright as displayed.

Marina Betta Kit Plastic Plant, Corkscrew Vallisnerialooks really cool in my setup white is definitely a nice color to add (black sand and blue background)

better than the variety at my local pet store

Great product. It has a tight spiral which I personally like the tighter look especially on smaller plant. Would work in smaller tanks, I used in a taller tank to vary height.

Hydro-Sponge Filter I--HS910 - Aquarium Technology, Inc.

Hydro-Sponge Filter I--HS910 - Aquarium Technology, Inc.Most aquarium filters now use a motor to force water through some kind of filter pad which must be replaced at intervals. However, before there were reliably sealed electric motors, most home aquariums moved water using the "airlift" principle, in which a rising column of bubbles pulled water through the filtering material. This is an elegant and just about failsafe method. Debris in the tank cannot ever jam the external air pump which feeds the filter, and if electricity is interrupted, the filter cannot lose siphon, it simply starts bubbling again when power is restored to the air pump. Many fish love to play in the rising stream of bubbles.

Hydro Sponge filters, first marketed in the 1990's, are a more recent application of the airlift. Hydro Sponge I is intended for aquariums up to 10 gallons. Made of dense, strong plastic with a weighted base which holds the sponge up away from the aquarium bottom, they dismantle easily for cleaning of the sponge. The pores within the sponge provides an enormous surface area for colonization by beneficial bacteria providing very thorough biological filtration. They can be powered by an air pump with or without an airstone (using an airstone will give finer bubbles and make less noise), or with an electric powerhead for those with larger tanks or who simply feel the need for more energetic water movement in the tank.

It is difficult to imagine such a simple device working well. Surprisingly, they are excellent, and can be used as the only filter in the tank for many applications. I've used them on tanks sized from 10 gallons up to 75 gallons, always with good results. The local fish store where I shop has an expensive trickle filter for their dozens of tanks, and every single freshwater tank also has a Hyrdo Sponge or similar sponge filter as well. Apparantly the sponge is doing something which the trickle filter doesn't?

Maintainence is as simple as the filter. When you perform your periodic aquarium water change, (20% every week) save some of the old water in a bucket. Separate the top and bottom parts of the filter and remove the sponge from the tank. Squeeze it out in the bucket. See all the stuff which the sponge removed from the water? Reinstall the sponge and refill your tank. Go have dinner with the money you saved not purchasing replacement filter cartridges.

In sum, a clever and elegantly simple device which works very well.

This review is for the Hydro I specifically, but it applies to all of the Hydro Sponge Filters.

The Hydro I Sponge Filter is the best for smaller tanks (5 or 10 gallons), just as its counterparts (the Hydro II, III etc.) are great for their respective size tanks. Other types of sponge filters exist on the market, but the Hydro ones are the most efficient because you can put an airstone down the shaft of the filter to get the water going through the majority of the sponge's surface. In addition, the sponge sucks up a surprising amount of debris and waste so it is good for a certain amount of mechanical filtration as well. As other reviewers explained, about once a month you simply squeeze the sponge "clean" in the tank water sitting in your bucket during the water change in order to ensure that you don't kill the bacteria by using chlorinated tap water. The water generally becomes dark brown or black, and you get a sense that you have really cleaned the tank well. (For the more squeamish types, the sponge smells like healthy earth so it is completely inoffensive. You can then use this water to feed house plants some nutrients, if you want!)

Pros: I am a great proponent of the use of sponges because I have never had problems with water readings as a result of using biological filtration. Sponge filtration is much, much more than a backup for canister or hang on power filters that clean a large number of gallons per hour. Biological filtration keeps the tank clean using beneficial bacteria and aerates the tank at the same time. Using a gang valve, you can aerate a little or a lot, depending upon whether the type of specimen you are keeping likes currents or calmer water. The biological force of a sponge filter is such that you can start a new tank by lifting a cycled and seasoned sponge filter from one tank and putting it into another. If you take some seasoned gravel too, you can immediately add a tankful of fish without worrying about ammonia spikes etc. Most importantly, I love sponge filters because when you are medicating your tank and have to remove the carbon from your filters for the antibiotics or drugs to be effective the biological filters continue to keep the denizens of your tank alive during this potentially disastrous time in your tank's life (eliminating parasites or diseases can last for up to two weeks). These Hydro sponges are soft, so amphibians or sensitive fish do not get roughed up when they brush against the sponge. If you clean your sponges regularly (once a month minimum), you will only need to replace the sponge if it loses its shape and no longer fits around the plastic rod. If you neglect cleaning, I would imagine that the sponge might get so gummed up with debris that it would no longer be absorbent and you would need to replace the sponge at that point.

Cons: The only disadvantage is the way they look--sort of like tiny little nuclear power plants in your tank--so you strive to find ways to hide them behind rocks, decorations, or large aquatic plants (or be creative and incorporate them into the decor by, say, having a theme like "post apocalypse" or "industrial age"!) Granted, I have tended to use a larger sized sponge than is recommended by the manufacturer, as I do not think it is possible to overuse sponges since the beneficial bacteria reproduce according to the amount they are fed. However, even if you get the proper sized sponge for the tank, they are difficult to conceal.

Overall, given the pros and cons, I love my amphibians and fish more than the look of their tank, so I avidly use sponge filters to keep them alive and happy. I like Hydro the best because of the possibility of using an air stone and because I like the softness of the sponge.

Buy Hydro-Sponge Filter I--HS910 - Aquarium Technology, Inc. Now

I bought this sponge filter for my angelfish, who were suddenly spawning every week. The babies were not able to survive if I left the regular filter on. I ended up having to move them to a ten gallon tank, and thus the need for this filter.

I have to say, I've never had a better filter. You attach an aerator line to the inside, and that's the only thing you need. The air bubbles oxygenate the water while they also work to draw water through the sponge. All the muck that usually accumulates pretty quickly in my tank was drawn in, and the sponge works to break it all down naturally, which is actually healthier for my fish and plants. And no babies were harmed by this little device. it's gentle, but effective.

And the best part is that you do not have to buy filters! Just rinse and squeeze the sponge under room-temp water for a moment and you're done. I'm definitely going to replace my old money-devouring filters in my 55 gallon tank with some like this. These are well worth buying, and actually pretty cheep considering it all. I advise anyone thinking of getting one of these to make the leap. You won't be sorry.

I bought this for my Axolotl tank as I needed a sponge filter so they couldn't get their little fingers or gills stuck in the filter uptake. I was very happy to find one at such a great price and with such great reviews so ordered it immediately. Upon arrival I discovered just how huge this monster is! I should have read the dimensions listed (though would have gotten it anyway) so I would not have been shocked by the size. A 4 1/2 in diameter takes up a huge amount of space in a 10 gallon tank (they are like what, 18 by 12?). Just a heads up for people looking at this product. Even with the huge size, this product seems to be working good and I have no complaints with it. I actually find the bubbling sound of the top quite soothing. :)

Oceanic 82105 BioCube Original Replacement Filter Cartridges, 2-Pack

Oceanic 82105 BioCube Original Replacement Filter Cartridges, 2-PackNot much to say it's a filter and it's an OEM part. The downside to the Biocube seems to be the filter. Many complain that it gets too dirty quickly and that is somewhat true. Back in the late 60's I used a corner filter with floss and charcoal. Nobody back then replaced the materials the just rinsed them off and back in it went. now a days it's all disposable and don't get me wrong once a month I replace mine but twice a week I rinsed it out and it's all good.

My aquarium eats one of these about every ten days. You can rinse/shake it out in a sink or bowl full of water drained from the aquarium but the cleaned filter will only last 3-4 days before clogging again. Couple of things to be aware of...a large part of your aquariums ability to remove waste revolves around beneficial bacteria growing in your filter. When you take the filter out, you remove a lot of organic waste from the ecosystem but you may also remove a lot of the bacteria that are clinging to the filter.

As such, when replacing the filter do not clean any other part of the filter assembly. Do that a week after changing the filter.

I also do keep the last "full" filter and after rinsing in drained water I tuck it on top of the filter mechanism under the door so it stays damp. When I do a water change I use that filter for a few hours after the change to catch all the junk that gets knocked loose in the water, then toss it and use a new one.

Nutrafin Turtle Clean Biological Habitat Cleaner - 8.4 oz

Nutrafin Turtle Clean Biological Habitat Cleaner - 8.4 ozIf you are looking for some magic solution to the smell of a turtle tank, let me tell you right now--it ain't out there.

BUT, this product definitely helps a lot when you put a little in every time you add some water (and water conditioner, of course!). It reduces the smell by at least 30-40%, I'd estimate.

It's not a perfect solution, but turtles are messy creatures and we love their charm and friendliness.

Get a good canister filter, some BIG goldfish, so big that your turtle can't eat them, to help clean the tank, do regular water change-outs, and rinse your filters weekly. That'll help more than anything else. Don't think that a little Bio-floss filter like you'd use for a fish tank of an equivalent size is gonna cut it.

Need a suggestion on filters? We like our Rena Filstar XP2 for the big tank with a red-eared slider and we are happy with our recent purchase of a Marineland H.O.T. (hang-on-tank) magnum 250 for the smaller ones. Every filter has its drawbacks so research carefully.

I've been using this for several months now and feel that it really helps keep down algae and waste accumulation in my turtle tank. I have 2 young RES and my tank stays clean for a longer time and has cut down on water changes. I recommend this product!

Plus, this is a great deal from Amazon compared to buying it from your local store. This bottle is larger and costs less!

This stuff works wonders on the Turtle Tank Smell. It will help you go a lot longer between full water changes. I have been using this stuff for a little over 5 years and my Turtles Carapace is between 6 and 7 inches so she produces ample waste. Every time I run out of the stuff my wife complains about the smell so I know it works. Also don't use gravel....Use river rocks it help the waste sink below and will dull your turtles nails a little.

If I had to make one complaint is that the 8.4oz bottle is too small.

Been using this for a few months, keeps water crystal clear. I have 2 red ear sliders about 5 inches in a 55 gallon tank. About 30 gallons of water, works great!

If you are an aquatic turtle owner, you know all about cleaning up after turtles. I own three adult YBS in a 125 gallon tank. My filter is a Rena Filstar XP4 made for a tank twice that size, and it still struggles to keep up with the waste these turtles put out. Before I discovered this product, I cleaned the filter every other week. Since using the Habitat Cleaner, that's gone to once a month. Sometimes longer, depending on how lazy I am.

There are basically two benefits to this liquid product. The first is that it drastically cuts down on the "fishy" odor coming from your tank. This is noticeable within a few days. The second is that it breaks down biological turtle waste (feces, for the less sensitive,) into an odorless uniform sludge. As unappealing as that sounds it makes your filter work better as the sponges and other media can capture that sludge, and it makes cleaning a much less horrifying process. When you rinse out your sponges you will not be assaulted by any unpleasant odor, it's akin to washing mud off a shoe.

I highly recommend the use of this product. I usually add a capful whenever I top off my tank.

Coralife Energy Savers ACL54090 Square Pin Bulb, 28w 6700k

Coralife Energy Savers ACL54090 Square Pin Bulb, 28w 6700kI've been using these Coralife bulbs for so long I could have powered Las Vegas for a day.

For some reason this one didn't last but a few months.

Typically I get years from a single bulb...

It's the right spectrum for my freshwater and the plants usually do well under it. This one died and I don't feel like forking over the cash for another.. going back to a plant-life-free tank on cheap flourescents.

Fish Bubble

Fish BubbleBeing the novice I was, when I was about 12 I "rescued" 2 bettas from a Pets Mart and put them both into separate, cheap, tiny little novelty tanks, and that's how they lived for about a year and a half until I bought my third one and put him into a 5 gallon tank. I instantly noticed the difference!

My 3rd Betta was flying all over the place, he was noticeably happier, responded faster (in a non-aggressive way) when I'd come near the tank, and he lived for a little more than 3 and a half years! My other two barely made it to 2 years. They were depressed, uninterested, slow to respond...everything you don't want your Betta to be. And once I moved them into larger 3 gallon tanks each, they perked up like none other!

Betta's need to be in 3-10 gallon tanks by themselves (5 or larger and you might be able to add compatible fish, though I wasn't willing to risk it). In the wild, they live in rice paddies which are thousands of gallons of swimming space and naturally aerated and filtered, and only live in "small puddles" for about 2 or 3 months (at most) out of the year during the dry season.

What's more, while Wild bettas may be able to take smaller conditions longer and survive better, the fancy bettas we see in the stores today are not nearly as durable or hardy and need more stimulation and space.

This "tank" has no filtration, has little space for the Betta, and isn't much better than the initial cup they come in. I'd use it for water plants; less cruel and easier to tend to, and it would look just as pretty!

For a Betta...no. It's just cruel to confine a fish, no matter how small, into that sort of an environment for extended periods of time.

No fish should live in a tank this small. There are many lower cost alternatives to "fish bowls" that in the long run will be less work and provide you and your fish a happy life together.

While I would never buy one of these for a live fish, making a planter out of one was an awesome idea. Originally I was going to hang it on a wall, but instead I have it hanging in a window and it looks great.

While these bowls are totally unsuitable for a live fish, there are many fun things you can do with them. Besides my planter idea, I'm considering getting a second and created an LED lamp, and I'm sure others have similar ideas for using such an inexpensive and remarkably sturdy thing.

my sons snail Gary lived in the bubble wall mounted fish tank for about 5 months then it apparently sprang a leak while we were away on vacation. no more Gary and a very upset Nathaniel (my son) so over all I'd say it was a flimsy piece of junk.

Deep Blue Nitrate Remover Pad 18X10

Deep Blue Nitrate Remover Pad 18X10I purchased this Deep Blue Pad a week ago and it has been running in my filter for 5 days. I didn't need to use the entire pad. I only used 1/2 of it. When I started the NO3 was at 200ppm. After 48 hours the nitrate level in the 125 gallon tank dropped to 160ppm. Another 48 hours and the nitrate was at 80ppm and today the tank is down to 40ppm. And most likely the lowest it's been in 2 years. This product works and reduces high levels of nitrate. I would recommend it to anyone.

This product sounded too good to be true. I cut pieces for both freshwater and reef tanks. After a week, the water chemistry remained unchanged. All the pad succeeded at was working as a mechanical filter.

This stuff really works. Keep in mind that overfeeding was really a problem. Water changes are still necessary, but my nitrates are acceptable for 2 months now.

This product really works. Don't expect overnight success. Nitrate removal is a slow process and takes time. The nitrate level in our aquarium was off the charts (above 150 ppm) and the water quite cloudy. I cut the pad to size and added it to the filter. After two days no noticeable difference. On the fourth day, the water started to clear. One week later crystal clear and the nitrate level was near zero.

Promptly arrived in new condition. I cut it to size to supplement an Aqueon filter cartridge in a tropical tank, as recommended to reduce nitrate level by a aquarium shop owner. Generally, the 10% water exchange, and filter changes bimonthly does reduce the nitrate level.

Laguna PowerJet 2400 Electronic Fountain Pump Kit

Laguna PowerJet 2400 Electronic Fountain Pump KitI just purchased the PowerJet 2400 and the pump cage was improperly assembled at the factory. The top was forced during assembly and broke a hole in the top of the cage. I spoke with a Laguna (Hagen) representative who expected me to ship the unit to them and they would decide the course of action. This is completely unacceptable as I need a pump now. Their attitude of "the customer is wrong until proven right" is not one I care to do business with. I expect to receive a non-defective product whenever I buy something and sure do not expect to pay freight to return their defective product to them.

10/18/2010 I patched up the broken portion and have been using this pump continuously for almost 2 years and it has functioned perfectly. The small holes in the cage do plug up with algae growing on the screen and in some particularly heavy growth periods it has to be cleaned frequently. I have compared several pumps and this is the lowest wattage pump for the flow rate I have found. Actual measurements even taking consideration of the power factor it draws only 83 Watts. I am completely satisfied with the pump and am considering another only this time the Max Flo pump for the larger holes in the cage.

I chose this pump because it is the direct replacement for the one I replaced in my small fish pond. The price was the best I found by far and I received the pump sooner than was expected.

biOrb & biUbe Aquarium Stand, 14" W X 27" H

biOrb & biUbe Aquarium Stand, 14' W X 27' HA great little stand for your biOrb, biUbe or Marineland Hex5 fish tank.

One important note however, the photo used doesn't accurately portray what you'll receive.

The upright column is actually a matte gray more akin to PVC than the polished chrome you see in the photo.

The back of the stand is actually composed of two flat black boards, not a solid piece as depicted above. As a result the chords coming down from your tank will be dangling visibly taking away from the slick presentation you're hoping for.

That said, it's still a nice little stand.

I paid for functionality, storage, and appearance; I received none of these. Like the 2011 review, what I received is not what is pictured or described. The stand they sent doesn't match that reviewer's description no gray or chrome all black. There is no storage space. The unit is just three planks (only 23" tall instead of the 27 advertised) made of sturdy wood (or maybe wood-like). These assemble in an H formation. There are also two disks to put top and bottom. The disks are not 14" in diameter as specified, but 13.75" and with the beveling there's less than 13" diameter of usable space. It's wobbles easily on carpet, tile, linoleum and hardwood. I will not risk using it for my Hex5 tank which had been it's intended purpose. I might consider putting a one-gallon aquarium on it if I didn't have pets, kids, or anyone who might accidentally brush against it and send my betta to an untimely demise. Good points: it arrived promptly, was easily assembled, is black and round, works well with my decor, and should hopefully support a glass or two, so I can at least use it as an end table. In hindsight that's too much to pay for a cup holder.
