I have been looking for aquarium filters for some time for a 6 gallon tank. But everywhere I went--I could not locate them. I was beginning to think that I had bought an aquarium that was out dated. Thank goodness I was able to find them on . I was able to change my dirty filter and it works fabulously! My tank is protected and I now have happy fish! Thanks again .

I often end up with 'inherited' pets. I've never been a big fan of fish, but my mom decided she was to old to keep up with the care of her two cory catfish, so I ended up with them. I prefer animals that can tell you when they are hungry; but decided to make the effort of owning fish as painless as possible for me and them.

I wanted a tank that required minimal cleaning so purchased the 10-gallon Marineland Eclipse, and some extra filters. I do love this system. About once a month, I rotate out about a quarter or 1/3rd tank of the water; and the filters do the rest. The tank stays clean, the fish seem to like the extra space. I'm very happy. It's made owning fish, mostly painless. Now if I could just figure out how much to feed them on the regular basis, I'll be set.

If you have a five gallon hex, this is the only filter selection you get. The length of effectiveness depends on the condition of your tank, number of fish you keep, etc. If you have a light tank load, you can rinse these at least one time and reuse. I am able to rinse after two weeks and replace after roughly four to six weeks. Use it much beyond that and you just make your maintenance and water changes more of a workload. As a point of reference I am doing partial water changes two or three times a week and am able to keep very clear water. Marineland is decent product line and I have had no troubles with these filters. I use in conjunction with a biowheel, which is crucial to maintaining healthy condition of your water. My only "con" is that you can only purchase in quantities of one or three. I wish there were a discount economy pack say of ten or twelve. Finding these in stock at your local store could be hit or miss over buying them through amazon. Keep your eye on the prices as I have seen them fluctuate. You should be able to get the three pack for eight or nine dollars if you get it at the right time. I've seen them go for over $11 for the same thing so if you get a good price and have more than one tank or just want to stock up and not worry about reordering, get them at the better price while you can.

Marineland cartridges are very easy to use. They leave the tanks clean and the fish happy. I use several different sizes for my several tanks. This review is for the size Z. I have a 5 gal hex and the cartridge cleans the tank effectively. It is a no mess no fuss filter set up. One just lifts out the dirty cartridge and inserts the new cartridge.I have fish, live plants, and snails in the tank. The tank needs a filtration system to remove the fish and snail pollution for lack of a better word. The water remains balanced with their use. So much easier to use than other types where one has to measure charcoal, filter floss, and etc. I suppose I shouldn't but I extend the life of them a bit by rinsing them out in between using a new filter. The charcoal isn't the same after the first use, but the filtration of particles remains good. I find them actually a lot less money to use than a regular charcoal, and filter media filter to use.

This carbon works very well and is highly activated. It provides sparkling clear water and superior flow rate, much better than cheap mega store charcoal products.

We gave this carbon a try in our aquariums. A friend works at a university and tested the water before and after using Kent carbon. We saw hardly any difference between the before and after tests for organic removal. The professor said that pelletized coconut carbon is not meant to remove the type of pollution found in aquariums. he said pelletized carbon is used mainly for air filtration, not water filtration. I have since switched to Bio-Chem Zorb. That resin-carbon blend proved to be very effective in my aquariums.

Finnex FugeRay Aquarium LED Light Plus Moonlights, 12-Inch

Fits perfectly on my 12" Marineland 2.5 gal. Very light-weight but a sturdy feel to it. Attaching the two legs was easy. You can slide them in or outwards to accommodate the tank rims.

There's a separate switch for the LED and moonlight on the sides. I wasn't interested in the moon lights but it looks very nice. LEDs are super bright, plants are growing like crazy!

I bought two of these to replace my old florescent bulb on my 29 gallon tank. They work well, light it more than adequately and the couple live plants I have seem to be flourishing. I bought them specifically to do more live planting, and hopefully they will do the job.

I really like these lights. They are very bright and the blue lights are great as well. The switches are easy to press, one side has the blue lights and the other has the clear lights. Easy enough to switch for my six year old and he enjoys turning them off for the night. Recommended.

Diatom Bag for Diatom XL Filters

Works as expected. Mine also came with the part that it attaches to which that sits the hole just above the impeller.

I have utilized this Vortex XL filtration system for several years, including use with an 80 gallon salt water aquarium. It has always performed very well. Attachment of the bag to the bottom of the pump can be a little challenging due to limited clearance. And I wish there was a little more space between the inlet and outlet ports to allow for a screw band clamp to secure the hoses (which may have been accomplished with newer models). But the entire filter package is easy to charge, easy to clean, and works great. I recently had to replace the bag as it had deterioriated at the junction of the plastic neck to the bag itself. But I had used this unit for a long time and feel this was a really inexpensive replacement. The price for the diatom bag was right, the shipment timely, and it arrived well packaged in new condition. As I no longer have an aquarium I have passed this filter down to my grandson for use in his two large aquariums. He is as pleased with its performance as I always was.

The fish feeder works great i was a little worried because it seemed cheap and there were no reviews on it but i was very pleased. my son was in the hospital so i was barely home except in the middle of the night to grab clothes. it not super load but if your across the room you can hear it and it takes a while to get use to the unusual sound for the house.

you can set how much you want to fall out and set if you want it to go off once or twice a day. how my tank is set up i had to leave the lid open to hook it on (uses a small plastic clamp to hang on, works well) for a normal square tank i would assume it works fine being hooked on to the open back area.

I was looking for a cheap fish feeder to feed my fish while I was away for two weeks on vacation. I tested it out ahead of time (didn't want to come back to dead fish) and it worked fine. However, it was impossible to put together. Maybe I'm more challenged in life than I thought I was, but the instructions were difficult to understand, the machine was cheaply built and the whole thing just seems cheap, but then again it is, so I shouldn't be surprised, and it would be unfair to rate it down because of that.

It does the job and feeds my fish. However, it makes a weird noise when it deposits food, and it's promises of keeping the food watertight and dry don't appear to be entirely true. All that protects the food from splashing or other elements is a thin strip of plastic that doesn't even appear to close all the way.

If you're looking for a cheap feeder just to keep your fish alive for a bit while on vacation, I'd say buy this one. But if you're looking for a long-term feeder, invest in something a little more pricey.

after playing with it for awhile, i noticed it dispenses almost nothing sometimes, then an overload others. Thats after i smashed up the flakes so it would go through better too. It gets the job done i guess but i don't know if i would trust it if i was going on vacation. Food could get lodged in it and then never come out. The directions are pictures with Chinese writing so i had to figure things out on my own.

The feeder works just fine. It doesn't look too big on the side of my little ten gallon, either. You put in the batteries, press a button and the drum with fish food in it rotates to release the food out of a gap. It will release food again 24 hrs after you pressed the button. The screw would go about half through before seizing up and stopping.

You can't even match up the size of a vinyl screw with the hole drilled in acrylic for it? I'll never buy another one of your products ever again. The only good thing about this experience with your product is that Drs. Foster and Smith will allow me to return it cost-free.

Everything that is supposed to eat these things will eat it but it made the whole downstairs of my house smell horrible. I thought I had a major problem in my 40 gallon breeder until I figured out these wafers were the problem. I tossed some in at night and woke up, went downstairs and halfway down I could already smell it. I did a 20% water change and it was gone withing a day. Took me about a month to finally realize what the problem was.

My plecos this particular brand of wafers. Almost as much as they enjoy zucchini slices. I have noticed that unlike some algae wafers on the market, these don't cloud the water as much or promote tons of alea to grow.These also seem to improve the coloring of my plecos, that are dark chocolate with tan circles, making them look bolder and healthy. These seem to promote growth....mine are approximately 8 in and in really good condition. The only drawback is that my goldfish, that is about 1 foot and a half, loves them too.

Petmate Walkabout Retractable Belted Leash for Dogs up to 110 Pounds, 16 Feet, Large, Blue

I ordered the Petmate Walkabout retractable leash (pictured) to replace an older one that finally broke after 5 years. I specifically ordered this one because the description said it was the older model, just like the one I had, which was wonderful. The newer models have gotten awful reviews, mainly because they have issues retracting, and are not as strong as the older ones.

You can imagine my surprise and disappointment when I opened the package and found a newer model with a tape like lead, which IS NOT WHAT I ORDERED. Just from looking at it, I can see it is not even close to as strong as the other one. Since Amazon does not provide a customer service agent to talk to, I don't know exactly what to do. If I return, how do I know that my replacement will be like the picture and not another of the same newer version.

I would really appreciate any feedback from customers that have had this same experience or can lead me in the right direction. Thanks!

Bought one of these to replace a similar Walk About that used chord instead of the flat tape.

Although the tape seems to be fine the recoil spring is way too weak. This causes the tape to stay

out in the elongated position when it should be retracting. The dog then gets tangled in the tape.

Walk About should go back to the prior stronger spring in the older chord model.

Will not buy this brand again unless they make the spring retractor is stronger!

It is supremely irritating on a walk, where frankly the retractable capabilities of this leash are questionable AT BEST. My dog is constantly getting all tangled now, because the leash, when it retracts, does so at a super slow rate. In fact, now that it has gotten chilly, to downright cold, the leash retraction has gotten even worse if that is possible. I would never recommend this leash to anyone else, nor will I ever purchase from this brand again. If I could have given this leash 0 stars, I would have.

I purchased this because the old one broke. The older version of this leash was much sturdier. This new version, though lighter, does not have as thick a cord and also the "retracting" does not work as well....somehow it's slower. But all in all it is a very acceptable leash to walk your dog with and seems very capable of controlling my 65lb lab.

I usually never write reviews but based on how much this impressed me when I first turned it on and the fact that there are almost no reviews for this light anywhere on the net, I decided to write one. I have a 10 gallon reef tank and until now, never had good lighting for it. So, I have been researching a lot the past couple of months on different lighting because I am starting to add more and more corals to my setup. Man is this light bright and very beautiful. The strip of white LEDs with the strip of blue LEDs brings out a lot of color on my fish and corals...especially my star polyps.

I have uploaded some pics that I took with my zoom. I was hesitant at first because the pics just don't do it justice.

Granted I just received this light today, but I would recommend this light to anyone with a small reef tank.

I will add some notes in few weeks to see how my fish and corals react. I am also very interested to see if my green bubble tip anemone will react positively to it too!

Satisfied with the light for the price although a bit more blue than I had expected.

Pros 1.) affordable 2.) LED

Cons 1.) the adjustable "legs" that the light sits on are notably cheap and did not fit my 30 gal. cube aquarium (19" but I had hoped there would be an adequate range of adjustment in the light. 2.) the power cord is SHORT. I can't picture the advantage of such a short cord and it did not really work for my set up.

Overall as long as the two cons don't worry you this would be a good buy for the price.

Great constuction and pricing. Similar set-ups online require piecing together the lights, ballast, and switch. That alone will run you $120+.

The aquarium (Fluval Spec V) looks great under the new lighting. The corals seem to be taking to the light, but there has been an adaption period. The stock light wasn't too bright, so transitioning to this beauty was a shock.

Very impressed with the sleek look and construction. A steal for the price.

I bought this light to put on a 10 gallon nano reef that I am setting up. This thing is great. I put it on the tank and couldn't believe how bright it was. It lights up my entire living room. I don't think there will be any issues with putting coral in this tank. There are tons of LEDs in this fixture. It feels like a really solid fixture, not flimsy like some reviews of other LED fixtures that I have read.

There are a few things that I am a little disappointed with, but this is more my preference and nothing to do with the light. First, it doesn't come in a 20" model. The 18" works great on my tank, but it rests on the hood instead of on the tank. For most people this is probably not an issue, but I would rather something that fir the tank. Second, I would prefer to be able to control the whites and the blues seperately. Again, this is not a deal breaker and for the price, it is excellent.

I have only had it for about a week and I am happy with it. I will try to update this post after I have had it for a little longer.

Aquavista 500 Wall Mounted Aquarium with Tropical Water Background

First, I would like to say that if you are considering buying this product, you should read this. I was very mislead by the youtube videos, and all the product reviews on this product. I have had this product for over 6 months. Let me explain to you, my story.

1. Purchased Product, Received Product fairly quick. Missing Mint Cloth, Screws & Hardware, also the entire lightning balast system /including bulb.

No problem? Just exchange it right? Wrong. 2nd Product Received with the same accessories missing plus a plastic part on the aquiarum cover/lid was broke off. And instead of the aquarium saying Aquavista (under where the frame goes, it said "china" embedded in the plastic.)

Hmm.. I think to myself.. This can't happen a third time can it? Why, Yes it can! It came from china. Same missing accessories: Screws & Hardware, cloth, lightning ballast system + bulb. Wow, Right off the bat someone would rate this a 1 star.. Not me, I'm willing to give it a shot!

I call Amazon, they told me to contact Aquavista. Aquavista Customer Service Support was very nice, they sent me Lightning Ballast + bulb that i had to install / + free filters.

After setting up this aquarium, i had bought my own pebbles / Rocks. ( this will become a nightmare as small rocks will fall in the filteration area and become stuck). I followed the manual, waited to put fish in tank.

I have had a horrible time with this tank, I have to clean this tank at least once every week otherwise the tank becomes filthy and fish start dying. I have had horrible, horrible experiences with this tank. Here's one to mention. One morning, GloTetra Disappeared. Hmm.. Where he go? Called aquavista. They told me to check behind the aquarium background. (was really fun trying to take this off after setting aquarium up.) Long story short, in the bottom right side of tank, theres a small hole (between black filter cover and background in corner of tank) where little fishies can get through. SO, Mr. Fish was stuck behind the tank. Long story short, becasue i had to bend background alittle to get fish on other side, small rocks fell between the plastic and background to where the picture would not fit the way it should. Had to take the entire tank apart, fake aquarium plants, small ship, fish, rocks.. everything. This was truely a nightmare. This didn't happen once, but three times. Once with a albino frog (didn't have to take the tank apart because he was easier to get) and also a neon tetra who is decaying in the bottom of the tank under the black filter. Oh yes, this causes disease and all fish will die, Except my Pleco + Frog. I have bought a water testing kit before all of this happened, and the ammoneia levels were extremely high. (50-100% water changes + cleaning of all objects/rocks) per week. To top things off? If you accidently overfill the aquarium with water (there is a meter) water will drip on your floor. But one time dripped on the right side instead of the left side. This caused the LCD touchpad + Screen to short out. Aquavista customer server was extremely nice, and sent me another one for me to replace. I paid $ 140 160 for this product and felt that I extremely over paid for cheap china plastic and poor quality. Poor Filtration in a 5.5 Gal = Death to all fish (cept pleco+frog or other high immune system species)

I would not have gotten this product if I would have known all of this could happen. It's truely a beautiful tank when it is lit up and turned on. Then the beautiful moment is ruined by fish who sink to the bottom of your tank lifeless and dead. Go to your local pet store to buy an aquarium worth spending this much money on.

Looks really nice, It's definitely the vocal point of the room. The only draw back is that it's a little noisy when the filter is running.

I have had no problems so farthe temp seems pretty steady. Came with a little clip for the cord; it stays under the gravel and hasn't cooked anyone/anything yet!

I bought this because the 15 watt version heated my 6.5 gallon tank an average of 12 degrees warmer, rather than the "5 to 10 degrees" promised if you have a tank that's the recommended 5 to 10 gallons for that size. However, the 7.5 watt version makes barely any discernible difference in temperature 1 to 2 degrees at most! I really don't see how there's this much difference between the two, but clearly, their recommendations are off for both of these. I'd use the 15 watt one for no less than 7 or 8 gallons, and the 7.5 for no more than 3 or 4 (I tested this 7.5 watt one in a 4 gallon bucket and it raised the temp by about 5 degrees there.) Overall, a good product, with really exaggerated size ranges.

I got this pump because I have a 39 gallon reef tank and it just didn't have enough flow, I already had a 950gph and on the other side a 750gph, both were from petco and I cant remember the names, anyhow the 750 was just not strong enough to reach the other end of my tank and I was getting foam build up on one side of the tank due to the still water on that side, and the 950 was doing just fine. So i got this because it was cheap and I thought Id give it a try and it was awesome. Stuck in the tank, plugged it in and it was easily reaching the other end, very happy with the product and the suction cups stick very well, I highly recommend this power head for 40 to 65 gallon tanks.

Ya, it's too much for a 29 gallon. My fish look like they're at an amusement park on a water ride. It was the same price for this one as it was for the one with half the gph, so silly frugal me, I bought this one thinking my tank could handle it. My fish can only swim on one side of the tank now hahahaha. I think what I'm going to do is put this one in my sump and get a smaller one for up top. Whoever said this is good for 50-90 gallon is probably right. I'm like Captain James T Kirk & Mr. Scott on Star Trek, MORE POWER!!! lol This will blow your anemones and corals right off the rock if you're not careful & one is probably enough I think.

Edit: I don't like complaining, but I took away 1 star. The only reason I did this is because the cord is the shortest cord of all my devices. It's really short. It's so short, I have to buy an extension cable exclusively for this item. They could have added a few more feet and it would have been "acceptable".

it is a low cost powerhead that met all my needs. I have it in a 20l and thot it might be too much, after moving my mushrooms around to where they are happy all is good. Does a great job of keeping waste out from behind my rocks and havent had a problem at all.
