Nylabone Dura Chew Plus Wavy Bone Chew Toy

Our dog is a very powerful chewer, and destroys nearly every toy we throw at him. So we got a Nylabone Flexichew he went through that faster than we liked. So then we got this Durachew version, hoping it would take him a little longer to get through it. It did last longer, until he managed to bite off a piece about the size of a jelly bean that became lodged in his bottom tooth. What an ordeal to remove it!

Only then did we look at the official website, where it states somewhere in the middle of a wall of text that this product is intended only for teething puppies and not for fully grown dogs. It does not say this anywhere on this site or on the packaging itself.

At first we were happy that our dog liked this toy and happily shaved away at the nylon, but we're sufficiently scared of the Nylabone product line that we'll stay away from now on. Do not recommend for powerful chewers.

My dog is an aggressive chewer...nothing lasts but nylabones. I liked the toy but my dog still prefers the wishbone and circle ring to this toy.

Okay, so my boy loves ALL Nylabone toys, but this seems to be his favorite lately. The only problem, as with all Nylabone toys is that if you have an aggressive chewer, the ends tend to get sharp quickly and could be dangerous. But in the picture it seems like it would be way bigger than what it actually is, just take that into consideration. then again he has a 49 gallon tank so pretty big, it would easily be the center of attention in a 15 gallon or so. Hydor 75w Hydrokable Substrate Heater, 25' - for Aquariums 32-53 gal

This heater does at it is supposed to--heat via substrate. My big complaint is that it did not come with nearly enough suction cup attachments. I have a 55G tank and looping/winding the cable the way you're supposed to only half the tank was secured. It was basically impossible to find other suction cups for it. I had to order them from the company at a pretty ridiculous price--and even then predictably some of them didn't hold well. Fortunately they really only had to hold a couple minutes until I could get the sand/clay over it and then the weight of the substrate holds it down.

46 bow...with an internal heater working with it...78 is max temp. It is not adequate without assistance. If you want this as your main heater...try something else!

DrTim's Aquatics Ammonium chloride for Aquarium

You have to add more than twice as much than the dosing instructions to get to desired ppm of ammonia.

I applied this to my fish tank and it seems to be working as intended. I tested the water parameters and the instructions on the bottle seem to be on par; 1 drop for every gallon. The only complaint I have is how it was packaged and shipped. The bottle, itself, is inside a sealed plastic bag. Upon opening the package I found the bottle leaked into the bag. Everything was contained though, so for myself it was not a deal breaker.

This is a wonderful product and I love all of DrTim's products but the bottle that it comes in needs to be changed. The bottle arrives in a plastic bag inside of the shipping packet, when I pulled out the plastic bag almost half of the ammonia had spilled out into the bag. I was disappointed as it is a wonderful product and I will think before ordering this again if I run out before my tank is cycled.

This piece has an odd odor inside. As I cleaned it for my tank I noticed the paint was coming off the underneath. Each time I scrubbed more came off. I left it a few days, wet it and scrubbed again. More paint came off and the odor is till there. Since this happens with clear water, I decided NOT to put it in my tank. I fear the finish will come off slowly and pollute my tank and fish. I ordered two, so now they sit on my shelf.

I bought this for my 55 gallon tank, and I thought it would be perfect, but it is a bit smaller than what I expected. If you had a 20 gallon or a ten gallon it would be a perfect size.

The detailing is good, and it is hallow. If you don't want to worry about gunk inside all the crannies simply fill it with silcone. It came well packaged and quickly.

This is the email I sent to Eshopps about their poorly-made product:

I purchased your model WD-125CS from Drs. Foster and Smith. I'm returning it as soon as possible. I cannot tell you how disappointed I am with your product. For the money I spent, I would expect clear, illustrated installation instructions. The deal breaker for me was when "the long vinyl screw" would not even fit into the hole at the bottom of the "clear overflow box" to make it parallel to the tank to which it was attached. The screw would go about half through before seizing up and stopping.

You can't even match up the size of a vinyl screw with the hole drilled in acrylic for it? I'll never buy another one of your products ever again. The only good thing about this experience with your product is that Drs. Foster and Smith will allow me to return it cost-free.

Carib Sea Ecco-Complete Live Freshwater African Cichlid Sand 20 lb

I chose this specific sand because of several factors. The price was comparable to other sands and gravel (minus play sand, of course). It claimed to come packed with live, good bacteria to help with cycling. It requires no rinsing. It buffers the pH, and it's an attractive sand.

After reading all that, I thought it would be the perfect choice. Both processes of rinsing sand and cycling tanks are not things that I ever look forward to, so I was very excited when I found this sand.

The tank has been set up (with sand) for a month now. Initially, the tank was quite cloudy for maybe five days with an old filter running on it. The claim "doesn't need rinsing" led me (and probably many others) to believe that the product wouldn't create a cloud-fest in your tank.

The live bacteria claim is a joke. The tank still isn't fully cycled. I should have remembered that the bacteria requires aeration and a source of ammonia to stay alive, or at least refrigeration. Not going to get much of that packed in a water-tight bag.

The pH level is fine, but I can't say for certain that it's the sand doing it. I have tufa rock in the tank as well, and I've heard that water in my area is naturally higher in pH.

The sand does look nice, and after the tank is established, it's not a bad product. The few mbuna that I have in there now love digging out pits between and under rocks. But the product's initial claims are a little far-fetched.

I used this stuff to replace some crushed shell substrate in an mbuna tank. I love the look but, for me at least, it didn't live up to its billing. It had no buffering effect in my tank. My tap water is 7.2-7.4 and, after several days, the new substrate had no effect. So it didn't replace buffering chemicals. Second, the bag says no rinsing required. That may be, but there is a lot of sediment that will take a few days and a couple of water change to work out.

I have also noticed that my water is slightly more cloudy after replacing my old substrate with the Carib Sea. However, that may be due to fact that the old substrate had mature bacteria colonies and the new does not. Even though I have extensive biological filtration with a fluidized bed filter, it may take a while for the new substrate to catch up.

One other note: with sand like this, fish waste tends to accumulate on top of the substrate rather than sinking as it would with gravel. The bad news is that because this product is so light in color, that looks bad. The good news is that it is easy to remove with a battery vacuum. Vacuuming every day or two probably contributes to better water quality than does cleaning the gravel every week or two during water changes.

When the instructions to this sand/substrate say to wash until cloudy (not muddy), they really mean to wash it until CLEAR water is the result. This will still result in a cloudy tank for a few days even with agressive filtration with lots of good charcoal. The end result is a lovely looking bed of sand in the tank. Buffering is not great, but I am content with the water we naturally have at my location: basic enough for cichlids. The caution: When initiating a tank, try to have the same water conditions as the store, then slowly introduce fish, then make any changes towards having a more natural water type for your fish. If you introduce poorly managed fish into a well managed tank, one is likely to shock the fish and kill them.

Occasionally you find a bargain. This is one if you are looking for a light for your salt water refugium with the color spectrum and power to maintain a healthy mat of de-nitrating macroalgae. It's a power compact fluorescence lamp with a 26 Watt combined 10,000K + actinic bulb with a mount that should clamp to the side wall of the majority of refugiums. The lamp rotates on the supplied mount so that you can swing it out of the way to harvest algae as needed. Replacement bulbs are available through Amazon and likely others. It's the perfect size for an Aqueon model 3 sump.

This is a top of the heap light. Price alone makes it nice but the light is great for a Nano tank.The construction is Well put together,you wouldn't want to drop it on the concrete but. It comes with a well made Bracket for direct mount on my tank. I did reverse the bracket to make it sit over my tank and not hang over,it adjust but not enough for my 1.5g .The bulb is very nice white and Purple spectrums And is a regular screw in socket. The blue leds might not be enough for much of a larger tank but that is the only flaw I see.

This light produces a good amount of lumens for it's size. I am using it on a 3 gallon glass aquarium, and tue emerged carpet of hemianthius callitroiddes is filling in nicely.

I bought three of these lights to replace an LED that came with my Marineland Half Moon 20 aquarium. The LED did not supply nearly enough light for freshwater plants to grow or probably even maintain life. As soon as a I hooked these attractive looking little lights up, I started to notice immediate results in my plants health. They cast a very attractive light and the moonlight LEDS look very impressive at night. My plants and I are very happy and satisfied with these great little lights.

This lamp seems to be designed reasonably well for use with a refugium as I'm using it. The strong point and the weak are the same thing; its the bulb. The bulb has one of the best light output ranges on the market that I could find for my saltwater refugium. It's a little weak in intensity for me so I'm using two lamps. The bad part is that these bulbs have a questionable life span. I've replace two of these bulbs so far, one lasted about a week and the other burnt-out as soon as I turned it on the first time. I'm still running these lights in my system and the replacement bulbs have been working for about two months so far. I'm hoping I just had a bit of bad luck with the first two bulbs.

I should note that when the bulb burnt-out, I made a claim for a damaged item and the seller gave me no problem with a replacement.

great product, this is my second one attached to the wavemaker in my 28 gallon JBJ nanocube . just the amount of current I was looking for to prevent dead spots in my tank without blowing things around too much.
