We recently took our pet turtle with us on vacation. We purchased this as a travel tank. It worked very well. It was light weight and had enough room for him (he is still rather small). We had to change the water daily as there was not room for his usual filter. All in all a good buy. However it does seem delicate. I can imagine the thin plastic cracking if handled roughly, but we treated it with care and it worked fine.I use this to house bearded dragon eggs in my home made incubator. Works great as the vents allow humidity to go through with ease!Want TOM Critter Habitats Kreature Kingdom Lg Rectangle 14-1/2 x 8-5/8 x 9-1/2 3.6 gals Discount?

Fluval 88g-CO2 Bubble Counter - 3.1 Ounces
You do not need to have commercial tanks of CO2, a fancy regulator, or an expensive setup in order to have lush CO2-assisted growth. I use an old Gatorade bottle, some black airline tubing, Fluval's diffuser, and this bubble counter. I wasn't going to get a bubble counter but it was so cheap on Amazon that I went ahead and ordered it, and I am glad that I did! It provides another piece of equipment that prevents the tank from leaking back out the tubing onto the floor and allows you to see if your generator is still producing gas.
For a DIY CO2 generator:
1. Gatorade or other thick plastic bottle. Many people recommend 2-Liters. I think these are too big.
2. Fleischmann's Active Yeast, or some other baker's yeast. Not the Fast Rise kind
3. Airline tubing. CO2 tubing is really expensive and since you are generating your own CO2 for pennies, don't worry too much about gas escaping.
4. Check valve. Very important.
5. Plastic inline connectors for tubing
6. Bubble Counter
7. Diffuser
8. Silicone (if needed)
Drill hole in lid of plastic bottle. Affix plastic inline connector INSIDE the bottle with one side pointing down into the bottle and the other pointing up out of the lid. (if necessary, you can use silicone to get an airtight seal) Attach a small length of airline tubing inside the bottle. This length should be short enough that it will not dip into the Yeast and sugar mixture in the bottle. Affix another piece of airline tubing to the connector poking out of the lid. This goes to the bubble counter. Place the check valve between the counter and the diffuser.
The bubble counter will allow you to count Bubbles Per Second for your tank. (Various plants require different levels of CO2 in the water and are almost always measured in this BPS count.) It should have about an inch of water in it and be attached to the exterior of the tank. As gas is pushed into the counter, you will see a bubble form from the stem inside. It will pop and the gas will float to the airspace above the water level, and after enough pressure is built up, will begin pushing gas into the tank via the diffuser.
For this bubble counter, make sure that the intake and output valves are screwed as tightly as possible. I found a gas leak on the intake because I didn't have the tubing pushed down far enough on the stem.
The diffuser should go in the tank in a location that will provide for the maximum transfer of CO2 gas with the water. In my tank, I have attached it directly underneath the intake for my Fluval 305 filter. The CO2 goes into the filter, slowing through the media for a longer time of gas exchange, then hits the impeller as it is pushed back into the tank. You do not want to put the diffuser near the surface or around an airstone. In fact, you don't want to use an airstone for oxygen in the tank during your photoperiod. Oxygen bubblers cause CO2 to not be in the tank long enough to have a good gas exchange. (I use an air pump at night to make sure that oxygen levels to not drop dangerously while the lights are off and photosynthesis has stopped for the day. I turn off the pump about an hour before the lights to come on to allow CO2 to build back up in the tank and be readily available to the plants when the lights come back on) If you do not wish to have your CO2 go through your filter, put it in an area as close to the bottom of the tank as possible, with as little water movement as possible. You can hide the diffuser anywhere if you are using a bubble counter because you will still be able to tell if the generator is producing gas by looking at the bubble counter.
In the bottle, mix warm water with sugar, swirl it around until the sugar dissolves, then add the baker's yeast. The amount of sugar and yeast that you use will determine how long the generator stays charged. I have had bottles last two weeks, and I have had bottles last two days. Basically, you want there to be enough sugar to feed the yeast as it reproduces. More sugar means longer CO2 production. Keep in mind that a whole packet of yeast will be waaaaaaaaaaaay too much and may cause your bottle to burst.
After putting the lid with its attached line back on the bottle, walk away. It takes time for the yeast to produce enough gas to provide sufficient pressure. You will be tempted to open it. Don't. If after three hours there are still no bubbles coming through the diffuser, one of four things has happened:
1. You have a leak in your system (fruit flies and/or the smell of rising bread will tell you this)
2. You did not use enough yeast, your yeast was not active, or your water was too cold
3. You are impatient and still need to wait
4. You have water in your system and you will have to wait for internal pressure inside your bottle to overcome the water pressure from your tank (this is why I recommend the check valve)I love this thing. For the life of me, I just could not get my DIY bubble counter to completely seal. No matter what I did, it will spring a tiny little leak somewhere, thus preventing the necessary build-up of pressure. For the 5 bucks you'll spend on one this product, it's a no-brainer. It is way more attractive then an old jelly jar, bottle, or whatever you would plan to use as a bubble counter, it can adhere to the side of your tank with a clip or a suction-cup (both provided), and the aggravation you'll save yourself by not having to drill holes in a jar and seal it off with tons of silicon would alone make this product worth the money. It's small and can easily be tucked out of the way.
My setup:
DIY Co2
-2x 1 liter bottles
-Fluval Bubble Counter
-Feeding into a powerhead for diffusion
-1 teaspoon yeast, 2 cups sugar, 3 cups water mixture in each bottle
-About 2 bps

The round shape of this bubble counter magnifies the bubbles a bit to make them easier to see. Both a clip and suction cup are included for mounting, but neither work well. The clip is too small the fit on anything but a rimless tank and the suction cup will not stay stuck. On the plus side, the clamping hose barbs fit nice and snug.Overall this is a decent item for the price.
**Update**
The barbed fitting on the output had cracked causing my tank to empty itself over the weekend. I loosened the fitting to remove the hose and the barb snapped off completely. Changed my rating to one star and will be buying something else.

Build quality is excellent, it comes with a suction cup to attach it to the aquarium. No leaks and it does what it supposed to do.This bubble counter works well for a CO2 freshwater planted aquarium. Connecting it up is a simple matter, but mounting it takes a little ingenuity. Be sure not to connect it too close to your valve from the CO2 source, as should the water back-up too far your solenoid might get water inside, which could render it useless. Check valve(s) strategically placed will prevent this type of damage. It is made out of plastic. It's great for any size tank with a CO2 system, pressurized or not.Saturday, May 31, 2014

Algone Aquarium Water Clarifier and Nitrate Remover, Small
Just be patient..it takes time, and once it kicks in, you won't have to worry about algae again! My daughter has a 3 gallon freshwater fish tank with 3 fish that we set-up about 4 months ago. I didn't clean it for two weeks and suddenly we had algae. I cleaned the tank but was worried about getting the water clear again and while doing research, I found an ad for Algone. I ordered it from Amazon and put it in with the filter. The water seemed to be getting better, but was still cloudy. Cleaned the tank again 1 week after putting Algone in the filter and replaced it with a new packet since there was algae all over the first one. Changed out about 20% of the water. Next day water was looking better, the day after that it was suddenly really milky looking and we felt like we took a step back & then today, 10 days after adding the Algone to the tank, we turn the light on and the water is completely clear! I am talking sparkling clear. I don't think it's ever been this clear, clear. My daughter was actually a little freaked out and kept asking how the water got so clean, and all I could say was "I don't know, but I am keeping Algone in there from now on!"

I was skeptical about this product and the ingredients are proprietary so I really had little faith that such a small package in a 30 gallon tank would work. Yet other reviews on various aquarium message boards gave it high marks, so I thought I'd give it a try. I wasn't having a terrible algae problem, but enough so that the water just looked murky. PH and nitrates etc. were within range and I do regular water changes so wasn't sure what would help. Didn't want to add any harsh chemicals. Well, within two days my cichlid tank was crystal clear. The fish are happy and healthy. Can't ask for more!Read Best Reviews of Algone Aquarium Water Clarifier and Nitrate Remover, Small Here
ALGONE works just like the advertising states! I have two filters running my on 55 gallon tank and I put a pouch on each filter on my over stocked tank of rainbow fish!!! It can take couple of days to a week to work but once its working it works great!!! Well worth your money!!Want Algone Aquarium Water Clarifier and Nitrate Remover, Small Discount?
I've been happy using one small packet each 2 weeks in my filter to keep nitrates under control in a 29gal freshwater tank. Tank is heavily planted with schools of tetras. I have had ongoing algae problems and this helps considerably. The small packets are easy to get into my filter and don't break open. I like 'em.Tuesday, March 11, 2014

I ordered this with Exotic Environments Red Sea Hide-Away Aquarium Ornament and a keyboard. Both fish decor boxes mutilated, red sea decor cracked in half, while the outer box and keyboard box in perfect condition. Did the packer not notice? Or just not care?
This is pretty decent in my 10 gallon, however the paint job looks rushed on it. The clam specifically looks pretty bad, like a child painted it. For the price it's nothing I'm to surprised about. I personally won't order from Amazon Blue Ribbon pet products again, but this is nice and cheap if your willing to take the risk of their product quality control and poor packaging.

I was expecting the colors on that which should be bright, but it is not. My tank setup is very bright, has yellow gravels and orange-white plants. The background is bright green. This seems very dull infront of them. If the colors were what shown in the picture, it would have enhances the look of my tank.
It is still not bad, thats why I have rated 3-star + 1-star for Delivery ON-TIME.. Thumbs up for Amazon...

Impeller Assembly for Eclipse 3 Hood
I cannot say it is the core unit that is flawed here. If you look close you can see on the ends there are removable black rubber caps that act as friction and noise reducers. Yeah that is great, but every time I break my system down the rubber caps seem to be worn down or get damaged in the process. If these caps are not just right the pump is noisy. Ugh, i like the look of my Eclipse 3 Hood and the way it runs don't get me wrong.
I guess that is why impellers are cheap though. I will keep buying them regaurdless of this annoying minor flaw cause i like the over all product this is a part of.
I just wish the rubber ends were sold by themselves or that the unit came with a few sets of these.Came in 3 days, what a relief! Fish were without a filter & air (I have live-plants though). Quality was the same as the original one from Marineland. Can't buy these in fish stores anymore. Online shopping is so nice! Don't even have to leave the comforts of your home. EHEIM Fine Filter Pad (White) for Classic External Filter 2211 (3 Pieces)
hopefully this doesn't happen to the next person, but buyer beware. if amazon messes up, you're stuck with what they send you.Ive tried a lot of filters. The easy flow are simple and easy to change but my water was always cloudy.
The Eheim filter may be very well the only filter canister I will ever own.
Filter collects all the yucky sludge of your aquarium to help keep the water clear and sparkling.
The one down side is the cost. I think they are a bit expensive for about 3.75 a pad which bought in packs of 3 .... So I buy whenever I see a sale. Can't have too many in stock

biOrb Silk Plant Pack Medium, Purple/Green, 2 Pack
Buy biOrb Silk Plant Pack Medium, Purple/Green, 2 Pack Now
I decided to buy some fake plants for my aquarium since most live plants have a hard time living in the water I have coming out of my tap. These plants were very vibrant in color which only gets better once they're in the tank. And I LOVE the weights on the bottom they stay in place and don't disturb the substrate very much since it's nicely rounded. I only hope they come out with other varieties of plants so I can buy more! If you want any for the background of your tank however I'd definitely recommend getting the largest size, as the medium wasn't as tall as I'd hoped.Read Best Reviews of biOrb Silk Plant Pack Medium, Purple/Green, 2 Pack Here
I have a small tank (3 gal) and these plants fit perfectly in it. It's only about 12in tall but they fit great and float around gracefully near the surface of the water. My betta really seems to like swimming through them and resting on the leaves. They look pretty realistic in the tank to boot. The colors aren't so bright that they look fake. I also like the anchors. They did a good job making them look realistic as well. My gravel covers most of the base but a small section of it shows so I'm glad they paid attention to that part too. It just looks like a rock.Like others have mentioned, the picture is somewhat deceiving. The purplish plant is really basically the same size as the green one so if you're looking for two different length plants, you're going to be dissappointed.
Overall I really like these. They look great in the tank and my fish is a fan also. Can't do much better than that :)

Reef One Biorb Service Kit
Further, if you have live plants in your biorb, you will need to replace the charcoal with a filter media such as SeaChem's purigen. At $18ish / 100ml, this is still far more economical than using the OEM filter packs, and you'll be using a filter media that will not rob the water of the nutrients the plants require to thrive.
As far as the sponge part of the filter, just rinse it out in old tank water. Simple, economical, and gives you a sense of accomplishment.
BTWthat overpriced bulb is a simple JC G4 bi-pin base, halogen 5w bulb. No need to pay the premium for the reef one packaging. For that matter, the jackhammer airpump can be replaced with a cheepo $7 model from wherever as well when it quits.
Hope this helps others, I've learned along the way that owning a biorb needs not be an expensive proposition!Reef-One claims this filter needs to be changed every month, which is ridiculous. I think they lose a lot of potential customers this way. I rinse the filter out in old tank water during partial water changes, and replace the charcol they provide with a little charcol from a $5 jug purchased at PetSmart. I check my water quality (nitrite and nitrate) every 2 weeks and my tank is in perfect shape.

Have to disagree with the other reviewer here ... I purchased a Baby biOrb recently for my new Betta, after having my first betta living in an airless bowl for a couple years. I simply got tired of cleaning a stinky bowl every week. As a result, I went shoppin for a new tank with a bubbler and filter system and found the Baby biOrb.While I agree that the maintence costs are significant at $132/ year (if you need to change a filter every 4 weeks), the costs balance with ease of maintenance. Personally, my experience with cleaning the Baby biOrb was a snap with the optional suction hose. Took me fifteen minutes to clean the tank, drain the grimey water and add new water. Couldn't have been much easier. And, I am not sure how anyone could have a problem swapping filter cartriges unless they have motor skills issues.
I also built a noise dampening box for the air pump my only real complaint is that the "whisper quiet" pump sounds like a mini jackhammer after about five minutes.
Great product and looks awesome.

Excellent product, fits my bioOrb aquarium. Buying the 6 pack is cheaper, including S & H, than going to the pet store. The closest pet store that carries this item, singly, is 50 miles away from where I live!Want Reef One Biorb Service Kit Discount?
It irks me to pay $10 a piece for these kits, when I know I can refill them with 50 cents worth of charcoal myself and rinse the sponge. However, after doing just that for a while, I have switched back to the kits. It's worth the money for the convenience, and Spot (my goldfish) gets slightly cleaner water, which makes her happy. The 6-packs are cost-effective, and after the second swap, I forget about the cost and appreciate the ease of changing them out.On the other hand, the design and engineering of the filter pack is truly horrid (whether you use the kit or not), and the difficulty of getting the tabs to line up and lock in place makes every filter change a hassle. If you don't yet have a Biorb system, I would highly recommend you don't get one. You will be locked into a system of overpriced, yet poorly designed accessories. Too bad, because they are beautiful to look at.

This is the second and last time I'll buy anything from the misnamed "Elite" brand. This item FLOATS and emits most of its LARGE bubbles from its bottom vents (!) with three or four small streams of smaller bubbles coming from where all of the bubbles are actually supposed to come from. And, yes, I let it soak for way beyond the typically recommended 60 minutes before I used it.The other defective item I bought from them was a 4" air stone bar. It emitted bubbles from about 1" of its total length.
This company either never tests the air stone products it makes, has nonexistent quality control, or both.
