I bought a package of six filters when I set up my new aquarium. The water polishing pads clear out a lot of the fine debris that the coarse mechanical filter will not stop. A bonus: when you clean the filter, rinse and squeeze out the pads (do not wring them) and put them back in the box. They will keep working and your water will look great!

These pads do a good job of collecting finer particles that will pass through the other media filters. These pads are also good for assisting in the creation of a bacteria colony which helps in the nitrification process. Use these for every filter change.

I bought this product. Because i wanted my tank water to be crystal clear, it did this well as lon as i changed out the paddes weekly(which is a little expensive).
