So far so good.This UGF works pretty well and comes with everything you need to set it up.So far its keeping my 10 gallon tank's water nice and clear..Id recommend at least 15lbs of gravel (with a 10 gallon tank)to help the filtering process and to help keep your decorations stable.Im also running a second filter to help keep the debris down to a min.

After using "pump filters" for a number of years for my goldfish tank I wanted to try a more "natural" system. This under gravel type filtration system is simply brilliant.The water remains crystal clear with minimal maintenance. Excellent product, very well priced. Thank you.

The undergravel is possibly the most basic form of aquarium filtration. This undergravel does just that. It works. All you need is an air pump, gravel and that's it. Lay your gravel sloped, shallow towards the front and it will work. Hook up your air pump and enjoy. If you are setting up a new tank, keep in mind that the water may cloud up at first. After setting the tank up it may look fine and crystal clear. You go to bed only to wake up to a cloudy tank. It is not the fault of the filter. It may be new gravel that has not "cycled" with bennificial bacteria yet. You may have to use a bacteria promoter or a product like Tetra "SafeStart" which is available on Amazon or you can just let it cycle naturally to promote it's own bacteria bloom. The Lee's premium undergravel filter is effective and does promote excellent biological filtration.

This filter is pretty nice. I've seen so many cheap and flimsy ones, and this is made very well in comparison. I'd imagine that they all function about the same, but this should last much longer than the others.
