Carib Sea Geo Marine Saltwater Florida Crushed Coral 10 lb

I was having PH crash problems in my fish tank when we moved to a town with a different tap water supply...for some reason I couldn't get my goldfish water to maintain a PH above 6.4!!! My poor babies :( I tried every chemical known to man, and it's a miracle my fish survived. I finally found a website online that suggested coral as a PH buffer. I put about 1/4 c in a hanging mesh bag into the water and keep it there 24/7...and now the PH is 7.4. I have a 14.5 gallon tank. I heard that mixing the coral straight into the substrate causes nitrate issues down the road when it breaks down, which is why I keep it in a bag. I can't support whether that is true, but my method has worked just fine so far, and I've replaced it once in the last year. I highly suggest trying this if you have the same issue like me!

Tetra Whisper Power Filter 60, 60-Gallon

I have a 65 gallon tank which replaced a 20 I had owned for 3 years. I had the appropriate Whisper filter on that one so I got the larger version for this one. There is no such thing as a silent filter (unless it is in another room) but the whisper does a good job of keep noise to a minimu. If you have your water level right, you do not hear the waterfall effect that others have addressed.

Also, I replaced the additional media in the filter with a better mesh to control phosphates and (hopefully) cut down on algae, and there was plenty of room for this material along with the bags and charcoal.

I had looked at the more expensive cylinder filters but after assessing the cleaning problems, the leaking problems and the overall work involved, I chose to stick with the Whisper and spend my $$ on new fish and decorations!

Works great. Handy slide in filter cartridges for easy and quick changes. Adjustable flow rate. Extra tubing for water intake inside tank. Super quiet! A quality product.

I have owned a whisper filter in the past and find them a superior product. So I was not hesitant to buy this one. The whisper does work better than most standard filter systems that come with aquariums these days. So thats why after 1 month I ditched the Aqueon filter system that came with the tank I purchased and switched to the Whisper filter. The only thing I would say that is negative is the sound... it isn't a whisper at all.. more like a water fall in your house. So if you find the sound of running water irritating this isn't the system for you. I find it soothing so it isn't a problem.

I've been using Whisper PFs for all my aquariums for over 20yrs and have never been disappointed by them. As with any filtration, you should always get a filter that's rated higher than what you need -for example, if you have a 60 gallon aquarium, the filter's MINIMUM GPH (gallons per hour) rating should be no less than 50 GPH -because all filters lose filtering capacity over time as media gets dirty and/or loses effectiveness. Aquariums housing particularly messy and/or big fish need filters that can turn the water volume over at least 3x per hour -for example, a 60 gallon Goldfish aquarium needs a filter capable of no less than 180 GPH. It's for this reason that people have issues with filters not keep their aquariums clean.

Whisper PFs are exceptional! Very well constructed and most are very quiet. The Whisper 60 is the biggest model and is also the noisiest of the bunch. They're not insufferable, though, but you can hear them working compared to their smaller cousins. Usually the noise is caused by impeller assemblies not being seated properly and/or air being trapped in the impeller compartment. Should ALWAYS add the impeller assembly into the motor housing after adding water to that compartment so air doesn't get trapped inside. The cover tends to rattled from the vibration generated by the motor, but putting a rock or something like that on top of it eliminates that issue.

The Whisper 60 has a 2 compartment system which makes these filters extremely versatile! Using the filter pouches, you can add any media you want. I always keep one side stuffed with blue bonded media and sponge type media for beneficial bacterial to take on biological filtration which keeps the water crystal clear even with no chemical/mechanical media in use. The other compartment is used for chemical and mechanical filtration. Keep in mind that carbon by itself isn't 100% effective in keeping aquariums clean, so the carbon packets that come with the filter media for these filters isn't particularly useful -especially since there is so little of it. I used PhosPure & Sea Gel and have also used Diamond Blend in the past for media.

To sum up, these are excellent filters and pretty quiet when setup & maintained properly. I've had 5 of these 60's so far and never had an issue with them. I also have the Junior and 30 model in operation currently. My 300+ gallon planted Goldfish aquarium has two of these 60s keeping it crystal clean.

This filter is great!! I just got it set up and running on my 60 gallon tank. Tetra 26331 Whisper EX Carbon Filter

I purchased these filters for ease of use, because I need someone to watch my fish while I'm away. Just pitch it and install the new one. The only reason I only rated this filter bag a 4 is if you don't mind taking a few minutes to pour in the charcoal and rinse, the box of 12 un assembled filters are about the same price as these 4. These ones are custom cut to better fit my filter 'holder', but the un assembled ones are more squared off at the bottom. They don't fit quite perfectly, yet they still work just fine.

Use this filter since i bought a 20 gallon hexagon tank.Does a great job for what i want.

Wholesome Hide Premium USA Rawhide Retriever Roll 10-11"

First rolled hide that hasn't given Moose explosive poops. So good there. He is able to completely consume one 9-10" roll in one day. So bad there. At least I think he's not getting toxic waste. But he is a compulsive chewer at 7 months, and I'm saving the kitchen cabinet fronts, table edges, legs, chair feet and any book or paper in the room from being shredded.

My dog is an enthusiastic chewer, and this is about the only thing that she can't devour in a single sitting. One of these rolls lasts her about 10 days, sometimes a couple of weeks.

She has never had problems digesting them, never had an upset stomach and wanted to eat grass after munching on them. (I cannot say the same about other brands of rawhide.) These are a bit more costly, but I think you get what you pay for: in this case, problem-free American rawhide manufactured here and safe to give to your furry friend.

None of the chain stores near me seem to carry the Wholesome line. Fortunately, Amazon sellers do.

I wanted a product that was made in the US rather than China. Most raw cow hides come from the US and are shipped to China for processing. Rawhides produced in the US generally should be fresher and not packed in crates and preservatives for months. I have a higher level of confidence there are fewer harmful chemicals if any when made in the US and with this brand. For our 5 month old German Shorthair Pointer puppy this product can outlast her need to chew. I like the roll better than the bone style. With the wrapped style, she was able to rip the wrapped ends off quickly and I had to watch her carefully to make sure she did not ingest large pieces. I am sure a larger dog could quickly devour one in a setting, but for our 30 pound dog it is lasting a good while. I will most likely reorder this product again.

I don't think there is a perfect chew toy for dogs, but this one is working out for her.

This company makes great products. The beef is from US processing plants, is clean and carefully rolled. The listing does not permit you to identify which retriever roll this is. It turned out to be SSP025 which Is 10 inches long but weighs only 4 ounces. My Bernese Mountain dog went through it in 10 minutes and nearly choked to death on the end. The retriever roll I had expected is number SSP 014, which is also 10 inches long but weighs almost 10 ounces. This one lasts my big dog at least a week, and often more and is much more suitable for medium and large sized dogs. Unfortunately the vendor's product listing does not permit identification of the roll's true size. My one star rating refers to this small roll only, and it's inappropriateness for larger dogs, which is purely a function of the poor listing description, and not the quality of the roll itself. If the larger roll was listed I would rate it five stars.

These check valves do what they are supposed to do, prevent back siphoning. They also seem to remain clear over time, unlike the more common and more expensive type which seem to "clog up" and restrict the air flow somewhat as they age. Some of them have untrimmed thin bits of plastic at the nibs, but it doesn't affect their function so it's of no importance to me.

These blue vlaves are just over an inch long and one side clearly has the work "OUT" on it.

This is my first time using a product like this. I tried to look thru it and it appeared like a dark gray rubbery shield is inside the unit. I blew into the air IN side and air passes, and you can hear a flexible manifold flap open. I definitely feel this adds some resistance to the air flow though. I tried my hardest to blow into the OUT side and nothing at all came out, so I expect this will work.

I also purchased Como Aquarium Y Shaped Clear Plastic Airline Air Tubing Connectors 10 Pcs from the same seller, to cut down and share the flow from my powerful air pump. Hydrofarm AAPA15L 6-Watt 15-LPM Active Aqua Air Pump with 4 Outlets because some reviewers said you can split the air.

With the use of these Valves, I my not be able to use the Y connectors, if there is any reduction to the force of the air. Hopefully this will not harm my pump. I am new to all of this and will report if I actually have any problems, but everything looks good and since there were no reviews yet, I wanted to report what I see for other newbies who were wondering.

I am not aware if there are other manufacturers or these or how the quality compares.

Buyer beware, this light fixture has a serious design flaw. The manufacturer states that it is a 48" fixture, but they don't mention that the power supply plugs into the end of the fixture. This makes the overall length of the lighting fixture more than 49 ", too long to fit in an enclosed canopy! If you have any type of enclosed canopy on your 48" aquarium this lighting fixture will not fit!!! I. Had to go to RadioShack and buy a replacement power supply, one with an elbow connector, in order to fit the fixture inside the canopy.

I bought the bed for my Standard Poodle because she is showing some signs of age and stiffness. I put her new bed in the spot her old bed was and her old bed in a location near the new one just to see if she really liked the bed. She laid in the new bed as soon as it got out of the box. She is eight years old and still very active, but I decided to go ahead and buy this bed because she started limping more on her left front. She has always had occasional problems with the foot and usually overcame the problem on her own, but recently the problem has not gone away without the use of joint tablets. Even with the tablets she still limped a little bit especially in the morning so I purchased the Snoozer Memory Foam Luxury Pet Sofa. She now moves freely. I haven't used this for freshly hatched/laid fry yet, so I can't comment on that.

However, I've used it to separate my betta from the rest of the tank while he was getting over some fin issues which worked great when I didn't have my spare tank ready to quarantine him just yet.

Now, I'm using it to grow out some little fry until they're big/fast enough to join the rest of the tank. I love how it provides good circulation despite not having suction cups to hold it steady, it's very stable floating around. I can also stick it to the side of the aquarium by just pressing it against the walls of the tank. I also like how I can put riccia in there to give the fry cover while not having it mess up the rest of the tank. It's extremely clear and easy to clean, unlike those cheaper mesh breeders.

Does NOT work for gold barb fry. They swam right out through the vents and became lunch. Lost them all. Slots WAY too large for barbs.

This worked great for OB Peacock cichlids. Female OB's mouthbrood their fry until they are a fairly good size. None fell through the vents. This was a great find for a holding/delivery tank. Two deliveries produced over 30 healthy fry. This is a great way to breed hard-to-locate fish for a show tank. Fry food falls through the vents to the lower fry chamber. Side vents allow good water flow.

I used this in my 5-gallon aquarium as a sick bay for an African Dwarf frog with some little plants/decor added for him to hide in and it worked well (until he became healthy enough to hop over the top back into the aquarium). (Side-note: the decor can't be heavy or it will sink the breeder). I also used it to segregate my betta fish from my frog so he can eat without the betta stealing his food and it was a great size for that purpose. It fits in my 5-gallon aquarium. I took all the inserts out so it was just a clear box and it was a good size for a sick bay, although I wouldn't keep a fish or a frog in there for more than a few days.

Digital Aquarium Terrarium Thermometer ST-3 Black

I bought two of these, and they work well, but there is a 1 deg F difference between both of them, so I am not sure which is right but if one degree accuracy is good enough for you this is a perfect little product at a cheap price. BTW it seems to take at least one minute between samples so dont expect sudden changes if you put it in the palm of your hand or in ice water. Thats a good quality if your using it on Aquariums or anything involving live animals.

Item is calibrated to show the temperature to .1 degree. When tested against my thermocouple, however, temperatures varied in 20 tests everywhere from 8 degrees low to 2 degrees high.... Of course I didn't get the thermocouple til about a month after I got this item, but I got the thermocouple because of the erratic numbers this was displaying, thinking I had a serious thermostat malfunction. Thankfully it didn't cause any damage I couldn't repair (Fortunately I had been trying to calibrate a setup, so nothing was actually being effected by the temperature). I guess if you're using this as a backup or for one where +/5 degrees doesn't matter then it's great, but if you need at least semi-accurate readings, this thermometer is NOT for you.

I bought 4 of these little units. One for use as a temperature sensor for my truck. As it gets colder I like to know what the temp is when I'm driving.

I should have started by saying that I ordered the 4 units at 6:51pm [pst] and received them just 2 days later. Great company, great deal, fast and attentive shipping department. I will now look to their company first when shopping.

I have 2 units checking the temp in 1 small space and they are only off by 00.2 or 2 tenths of a degree. Pretty darn good for a $5 item.

I've had this item for about almost a month and to me it's great. I turn it on in the morning to check the temperature and then also check it at night. So far the temperature it's telling me is pretty good. My temperature reads between 77.5 79.6 and everything in my tank seems to be fine. My fishes are active and my plants are doing well. So I would say that this thermometer is working the way I expected it to work.

I recommend this thermometer to anyone that is looking for an affordable digital thermometer. Definitely better than the floater thermometers.

Well, its very accurate. I'm planning on using it for the leopard gecko I'm getting in a few days. (My first reptile ever!) I actually bought two for both sides of the terrarium. When I put them next to each other one said 75.4 and the other said 75.8 so...awesome. Plus its cheaper than the rest of the products like this and it works better than the rest (judging solely on the reviews of other products like this one) so I'd say its worth the money. My only complaint is that the suction cup is not the best. When I put it on it fell within 30 seconds so...not so awesome. I guess I'll tape it or something. Also, if its worth anything, the cord is pretty long I think. But keep in mind that this is the first time that I've used a thermometer like this. Hope this helps. :)

It started rusting a week after I got it. I am extremely upset and would not recommend it to anyone.

TOM Stellar Air Pump W-40 - 40gal to 55gal tank

I have this pump on my 20 gallon long aquarium for the 2 under gravel filters. It absolutely pumps the air with no problem whatsoever. Very strong. It is noisy though. It does seem more like white noise but if you are looking for a whisper quiet pump then this wouldn't be the one.

The cord is long and it was a piece of cake to set up. The one I received is all black. It is not like the picture so if you're expecting what's in the picture, I have to assume you will also get a black one. (I prefer black so I was fine with it)

I recommend this pump for strength.

This is hands-down one of my favorite air pumps. I use it to operate the box filters for two 29-gallon fish tanks in my basement fishroom. The pump is fairly quiet, very powerful, and very sleek in its design (mine is black, not white like the picture). It's also a wonderful option for supplying air to multiple tanks, as its air output is strong enough to split with a gang valve.

Prevue Hendryx-Clean Life Flight Cage

I have two of these cages which I have had for a couple of years. They replaced some older metal cages. Even got rid of a fancy wrought iron beauty because it was messy and inconvenient to clean.

The food dishes are easy to access. The apron catches seed and feathers. The bottom tray and grill slide out easily. The smooth plastic coated bars wipe off easily. I use cage wipes made especially for bird cages and paper towels, and I am done cleaning the cage in no time.

For the benefit of the birds' feet, it is best to remove the wooden dowels that come with the cage and replace them with perches of varied diameters such as the rope perches, concrete perches, and natural branch perches.

Make sure to place the perches such that the bird can fully extend its wings for exercise.

According to most animal rescue groups, the cage size is suitable for one budgie (parakeet). However, I have used one for a lovebird and one for a cocktatiel which other sources say is OK as long as the bird has time outside the cage.

This is really a nice cage. I've got 5 finches in it and they have lots of room for flight. It's an attractive cage and I'm fairly satisfied with it, however there are definitely drawbacks. The two little doors for the water and seed are very low and I can only reach a small distance in the cage through them so that leaves me opening the 10.5 x 11.5 door. No matter how hard I've tried to keep my little finches in, they escape. I've even created a flap to roll down on this large door. I cut a perfect circle in the center of the flap so I could get my arm in there to rearrange items in the cage and clean it. Still, one of my finches got out. I wish there were more small doors up higher and on the sides. I may even have to purchase another cage because of this.

The metal bars seem pretty sturdy and the tray does slide out nicely. I like the two handles at the top so I can hang this cage. I have three dachshunds and dachshunds will kill anything they can get a hold of. So I have to be very careful.

Edited to add: Well I woke up this morning to one of my waxbill finches flying around the room. I had to hurry and get our dachshunds removed from that room to catch the little guy/gal. I studied the cage and realized the space between the fronts sides and back, on each of the four corners, leaves a large enough gap for the waxbills to get out. I've temporarily used 1/8" white ribbon to lace the four sides until I get another cage. My waxbills are quite a bit smaller than my zebra or spice finch, so I'm going to put this fairly expensive cage away and order the less expensive one here on Amazon that is built for finches, the 30 x 18 x 18 cage from Petco. I'll keep this more expensive cage though, perhaps I'll find a use for it someday.

Doors are easy to open and close to access bird. Awesome amount of space for 1 parakeet--we are considering adding a friend and there will be plenty of room. Color is true to description and sides are helping to keep some seeds and feathers contained. Bottom tray is easy to remove and change. Plenty of room for toys. Plastic food cups are holding up fine. We have had it 1 week and so far we like it!

Great-really-great cage. Extremely easy to keep clean & it does a great job keeping the surrounding floor clean. Its easy to clean up...even under the pull out drawer, because the cage grill floor can be pulled out separately or with the pull out cage floor drawer. It just has one problem the only access door is about 1 foot high and almost as wide as half the front of the cage., This is a great option for cleaning BUT--if you have skitterish birds, the large door is an invitation for them to fly out of the cage and have you chase them through the house for an hour to catch them.

I wish the manufacturer would make a smaller door within the large access door so you have a choice as to which size door you need to use at the time of cage service. It really is a major problem and has discouraged me from buying this wonderful cage for my other birds. My 2 love birds are very calm and never try to escape when the huge door is opened, but I can't trust the budgies to just watch calmly when the whole wide world is given to them through that large opening. I intend to cut an opening in the cage and make a smaller door somehow, so I only have to open that large door for cleaning...and then hope for the best from the potential escapees.

I'm really disappointed in this cage.

For $80.00 I expected something a little more heavy duty.

It is a nice big cage and I would love the seed catcher and how the bottom is set up, but the wiring for the cage is a joke. Very flimsy. I don't see this cage lasting for any amount of time. And to be honest there was no way I was going to let my cockatiel in there, because the door and top parts to snap together quite right his weight of less than a pound would make the cage sides move, and I'm positive he would get his feet stuck in between and cut.

I'm going to send it back and keep looking for something more sturdy, this is just disappointing.
