I've had fish tanks for over 25 years, except for the past 6 years. For Christmas I purchase a new 37 gallon tank. I have always used an undergravel filter as a second filter with my other tanks in the past. I have never had a problem with maintenance or anything. I purchase this filter, but when I assembled it the flow tubes were way to short for my new tank. "No problem," I thought, I'll just pick up some tube and cut it to the link I need. After all, I've done this before. I went to 4 pet stores (1 being an aquarium store), plus looked online, with no luck finding more tubes. I was told that undergravel filters are outdated and almost never used anymore. So I can not use the filter. I sold it on Ebay and because it was a great price on Amazon, I made my money back.
The filter was good, easy to assemble. It probably would have been a good filter if I could have used it.
