API Algaefix Marine, 16-Ounce

My reef tank is 13 years old and I've been battling long hair algae for the past 5 years because of the phosphates that accumulated over time in my deep sand bed. I tried everything: low nutrients, high magnesium levels, granular ferrix oxide, lettuce nudibranchs, and just about every other technique known. Algaefix is the first thing I that worked to dramatically decrease the hair algae! After about 4 treatments of Algaefix, the hair algae started turning brown and falling off. It killed about 90% of the hair algae, and then my skimmer increased its production exporting the waste. Now my rocks are almost completely clear and I can see the purple corraline algae instead. At first I was worried that Algaefix might harm some of the rare corals and creatures, but so far I haven't seen any bad effects on the other inhabitants. It doesn't affect the coralline algae either, only kills the nuisance hair algae. This helped me regain control in an old well established reef tank. First, of course, try normal best practices such as keeping low nutrient levels. I highly recommend this product for winning the war on hair algae when nothing else seems to work.

I experienced the algae bloom to end all green algae blooms in my high light tank. Tried everything the experts said to try to eliminate the problem. Nothing worked.

Algaefix worked as advertised. 3 doses killed it dead with no harm to the fish or plants in the tank.

NOTE: Killing the algae won't do any good unless you eliminate the cause. In my case it was too much light in the tank.

I bought this product in haste not noticing that it was for marine/salt water aquariums, I contacted the manufacturer to ask if it would be safe for fresh water tanks too. They responded yes it is and follow the directions on the label.

I'm not sure why the other reviewers are using AlgaeFix MARINE on their freshwater ponds but maybe thats why they are having issues with fish dying. I was able to rid my tank of algae in 10 doses following the directions to the letter. Please note this does not work on ALL types of Algae, if you have Bryopsis please see my other review on Kent Tech M which does work on Bryopsis.

This product arrived the next day after i ordered it. FAST. Used it twice a week as instructed. Took 3 Months to clear out the algea. It did work though.
