As an avid fish keeper of both fresh and saltwater tanks I have learned over the years to only trust RO/DI water as my base water. However, shrimp require certain parameters to flourish which are unattainable in RO/DI. The instructions on the bottle are a little vague so I simply use my TDS meter to take the water to around 190-210 TDS for water changes (About 2.5ml per gallon). My Crystal Red shrimp SS+ grade are currently loving the water! Will update once the breed!
I think this product just hardens the water, but it does so effectively. The instructions say how much to put in, but they don't say how much per quantity of water... so you'll want to do some tests before subjecting your shrimp to the recommended dosage. Hope that helps.
