I have owned two of these model pumps and both have died for no apparent reason. I use them to pump water during water changes and they are not on consistently, each time they died after about 3 months of intermittent use. When plugged in they make no noises or attempts to turn. Maybe they work well for people who use them in a different way, but for me personally I'm going to steer clear of Quiet Ones in the future.Read Best Reviews of Quiet One Lifegard Aquarium Pump, 296-Gallon Per Hour Here
Either I got a defective unit or the description of it's performance is misleading. I wanted to use it as a replacement pump in a fountain. It's described as 6.1' max head height and 296 gph. My fountain is about 4 feet high and uses 1/2 diameter tubing. No water came out the top. Placed the pump in a pail of water fully submerged and had it set to max flow. It only pumped water to a height of about 6 inches. On the Lifegard website more detailed information is given and it says it pumps a max of 175 gph at a height of 4 feet. So I'm unsure what the issue it is, but it fell woefully short of the performance described by the manufacturer and interpreted by me.On a datasheet on their website another set of figures is given for the 1200. It must be flow rates with head heights converted from metric because feet are listed with fractions of a ft. In any case it says flow rate of 0 (zero) gph at 6.1 ft. That's a lot different than what's printed on the box! But that I can believe, zero gallons at 6.1 feet.

Great buy Item came on time and is running as told. I would buy lieguard products again as they seem to be in tune with what a reef tank needs.Monday, November 24, 2014

My original fish tank was bought as a kit and it was difficult to find the exact replacement lamp sold separately. After purchasing this one, which is meant for a 10 gallon tank, I was a little disappointed that it didn't sit in its 'footing' properly on the hood-it is a bit long. However, it does work and is functional and doesn't look too out of place, so overall I am pleased.Read Best Reviews of Perfecto Reflector Fluorescent Light Strip 20in Bl Here
Arrived quickly with no problems. The light itself is exactly what you'd expect--fits nicely. It is plastic, but well-represented in the picture. The bulb shines very bright white fluorescence, so just be aware that it may make some colors look washed out in your aquarium. Overall, though, I am pleased with this purchase.Want Perfecto Reflector Fluorescent Light Strip 20in Bl Discount?
Fish Mate 2000PUV Pressurized UV+Bio Pond Filter
I also bought the Fish Mate 4000 Pond Pump 1000 gph which is just fair. It makes a very noticeable humming/vibrating sound and the flow is not as strong as I'd hoped after the filter was attached.

After my old canister filter died, I started looking for a new filter for my 75 gallon tank. I have some great big old goldfish and they are messy.Over the years, I've discovered that pond equipment is generaly cheaper, better designed, and more rugged than aquarium equipment. This filter is no exception. Since it's pressurized, it can go below your tank. I added a Little Giant 1000gph pump and some simple plumbing with 3/4" flex tubing and some valves (all from your local big box store) and I was good to go.
The backwash feature is GREAT. You don't need to tear the whole filter apart to clean it. You can just backwash the muck out into a bucket. The way it works is kind of silly the filter comes with a screw-on cap to keep over the backwash port. Even when not in backwash mode, water will come out of that port without the cap on. I just permantently attached a 3' piece of hose with a valve at the end. When I backwash, I can just open that valve and let the muck run into my bucket.
The other thing I did was to intall a T and a valve in between the pump and the filter. I put a quick-disconnect garden hose connection on there and I can use a garden hose running over to the sink to drain and refill the tank. The pump pushes water out to the sink and I can use the water pressure in the house to reverse the flow and refill the tank. No buckets!
After a month, the tank is crystal clear and I'm just thrilled with the filtration capacity of this unit.

We purchased this pond filter in late 2008, and as of two years later it has just simply stopped working. We fortunately did not have the same issue as previous reviewers (cracks which lead to draining of the pond), but overall this unit is not worth the money. For $200+, you can most likely find a better filter that will last more than 2 years.Want Fish Mate 2000PUV Pressurized UV+Bio Pond Filter Discount?
I like to use this Pond Filter because it is easy to clean. I had another filter before this one and it was very hard to clean. This filter also keeps my pond clean.Marineland NW1000 Natural Wave Pump Timer

little to no instruction, difficult to mount. Its a power strip with 3 live and 3 "wave maker" type timers. If you use it with cheap powerheads I guess you will be fine. I used it with 2 maxi jets and one hydor 550. The maxi's stood up to the hard start/stop but the koralia must need a more conditioned current. I now have the hydor pump controller with 2 hydor 750's and 1 550. I only used this for a month.Read Best Reviews of Marineland NW1000 Natural Wave Pump Timer Here
This wavemaker does just as it says, switches upto 3 powerheads on/off from 20 seconds to 3 minutes. It does have a problem with hard starts, makes the powerhead rattle slightly but nothing to bad. I recommend this for anyone who doesn't want to spend a ton of money for a wavemaker.A must have for your tank!! Save $$$ with the wave cycle unit!!
