Perfect-A-Strip Incandescent Light, Black, 12 1/2"

No surprises here, good for a 2 1/2g or a 5 1/2 gallon with a glass top. It has one socket, which I use a Compact Fluorescent (CF) bulb in to maximize efficiency and still provide good lighting. I am actually using this to supplement a Perfecto 20" Fluorescent strip, which by itself, barely provides enough light for a 10Gal with live plants.

Pros Works as it should

Cons Has an old-style small black turn switch, as opposed to a push button (like the other Perfecto lights), which can be annoying to use at times.

This tank light fits my 2.5 baby fry tank extremely well! I love it! I use the Aqueon brand "Colormax" color enhancing mini compact florescent (for saving power and better lighting) bulb ( 6"L; 10 watt lamp) and it works beautifully! The colors are extremely vibrant in the tank and I don't mind that it has a turn style black knob on the side. This also comes with a little strip "stand" thing (not sure what to call it" that's a few inches long (it that), to hold the light in place. Make sure you figure out where you want it before gluing it, and I guess I was too impatient for mine to let the adhesive (comes already on the "stand") completly set, so mine ended up sliding, but this won't happen if you let it set like the instructions say. haha! oops? ;)

I was going to go for a desktop lamp...which would looks bulky and big behind my rack shelf. Plus it won't even fit...

Put in one of the CFL light bulb from walmart fish department and the whole tank light up very nice. Gives my tank a very nice and natural look...mine is on a timer.

It comes with a sticky pad to place ontop of your glass lid so the hood stay in place....awsome!!

I knew it was going to take a while to ship from overseas, but it was worth the wait. They are a little softer texture than the one that came with the pump. Make sure you soak in plain water for a least 24hrs before changing out. Easy to cut and replace. This is great sand for burrowing creatures, I was able to put this right into my water because it's in a new tank. This sand is very find, it's almost like silt or clay, so it's very messy at first. When you first add it, be careful of it clogging your filters, fans, and power heads. It will also take a couple days to settle. Once it does you'll need to clean your glass, but be careful not to stir up too much sand.

This item is listed as a 20 lb 2 pack, but it is not. You just get 20 lbs for the price. The sand itself is a great white color, with very fine smooth particles. VERY FINE. Seems like it would be great for sand sifters and things like that. It does say there are live bacteria in it, but I can't speak to that since I put the sand in my upgraded tank with my pre-cycled live rock.

Can't say too much about it becuase if your system takes this filter pad sleeve, then you have to buy it. And the pad does what it is suppose to do. I was surprise at how the price has gone up in recent years for this item. That is why I recommend washing the pads and reuse them until they begin to fall apart. The best way is to take it outside and use a strong stream of water from a garden hose. The water from the wash can also help your plants grow better.

I agree this product is gooey, and sinks to the botttom of the tank. However i have feed it to my betta fry approx. 1 month old fry andthey have doubled in size. Their color has really came out also. I challenge anyone to just try this food for any fry and see how it works.

The packets are gooey, sticky, and just sink to the bottom as a clump of mushed up worms. Expensive as well. I went to Petsmart and bought an entire can of dried bloodworms (intact!) which hydrate in the water and look real anyway, the fish love them. Even my freshwater puffer will grab them as they float by.

BiOrb 15L Flow Aquarium, Black

When my two boys asked for betta fish, I started looking into desktop aquariums, since I didn't want to keep fish in tiny bowls. After a lot of debate, I decided on the Biorb Flow 15 and ordered two of them. Wow, are they pretty once they're set up and all decked out with plants and accessories! I originally thought our only option would be a cheap-looking old style aquarium, but the Flow is so cool looking, it actually adds to the decor of their rooms.

But pretty is only good if it works, right? Set up was a breeze, really couldn't have been simpler. I bought Hagen 25 watt mini heaters for the tanks since the Biorb heater kit is so expensive, and they work great. Clamped the tubing with paper clips to minimize the flow of the filter (bettas don't like to be tossed around) and was pretty much ready to go. A few days later, we brought home our fish.

In the first hour they were out of the bags, we had a disaster. The Biorb ceramic media is very large, and if you aren't careful to lay it properly, you can wind up with some fairly large gaps. One betta went exploring down in the media and got wedged in the corner of the tank, between the media and the glass. I got him out, but he was pretty shell-shocked. Fortunately, he recovered within a day and is doing fine.

I worried about the size of the tanks, since they're on the small side, but these little guys seem very pleased with their new homes. I've added lots of plants, grass rings, Feng-shui pebbles, topiary balls, and leaf hammocks, so they have numerous hiding places and things to swim around and investigate. I think the lighting is just fine, and the opening is more than big enough to do whatever you need to do in there.

The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is the price. After the initial expense (which isn't small), you pretty much have to purchase all Biorb accessories if you want them to work with the tank. And they're pricy. It took three packages of pebbles per tank to get the look I wanted, three topiary balls apiece, two grass rings, and three plants (each). At Biorb prices, that's a chunk of change. But I'm not sorry, because they look great and our new little friends seem to be thriving!

Cons: Poor lighting. (very small LED light that only lights the middle of the tank not the sides at all.)

You need to remove the light in order to get into the tank which makes it near impossible to see what youre doing inside the tank.

The small opening also makes it extremely difficult to catch fish in even a small net.

I could go on and on but honestly I've given this tank enough of my time. Save some money and frustration, if you're looking for a nano tank, and buy a fluval chi or nano.

It's really am attractive tank and has room for a few plants and a fish. If I was going to have more than 1 fish I would def get the 30. Cons: the "corners" can be annoying to the eyes, the instructions say not to cover the filter base-it gets very dis colored so you're pretty much forced to buy a cover or go against the instructions and cover it with rocks.

I just have a Betta fish in there and it seems to be a perfect fit. The light is plenty bright for me and I don't mind the size of the opening. The only downside is the little pump that comes with it is kind of loud. According to the website it will get better with time and I also clipped the hose so not quite as much air is pumping through...this helped. It is a great aquarium if you want something compact and light...it is plastic and plastic can scratch, though.

Bought these mainly for my catfish, but we have a goldfish community tank as well and they go crazy for these! They pounce on it immediately and nibble away until it's gone. Good food and makes for an active fish tank show.

This is the best heater for any tank (sized appropriatly) using a canister filter. Simply split the return line and install the heater. No extra equipment in the tank, no electrical connections in the tank. I noticed some reviewers are complaining of fittings being too small. Pay attention to what you are ordering! There are two diferent 200 watt models; one with 1/2" (12mm) fittings and one with 5/8" (16mm) fittings (all measurements are for inner diamenter). My canister uses 1/2" line so the 1/2" fittings work perfectly. I imagine the same thing is true for the 5/8" model.

Stopped working after about 8 months. Temp in tank dropped 12 degrees to room temperature. Took me a couple days to get a new one, so thats a couple days my fish were too cold and unhealthy.

I recently set up a 25 gallon rimless cube tank. I wanted to minimize what was hanging on the outside of the tank so I purchased this Hydor. After a long search it seemed Hydor was the only game in town for a inline heater. Well, it's great! Takes a few minutes to connect and that's it. No leaks, no fluctuations. I have it connected to my Eheim Ecco. Working for a month now in an unheated room and it is dead accurate and does not fluctuate. As some others noted it does make an audible click when it turns on but mine is inside a cabinet so it really is barely noticeable. Less than the click of a pen. And if it wasn't for that I'd have to check to even see if it's on.

Have had the heater for almost a year now, and so far it works great for my 40 gallon tank. Only complaint is that it turns on and off very frequently (about every 2 minutes) with an audible click that can be quite a nuisance. Also, its exquisite sensitivity, which makes it turn on and off so frequently, makes me worry that it might wear out before long.

I have gone through 3 of these heaters in the last few years. I was attracted to the design, and Hydor is about the only company making inline heaters.

Unfortunately I had all three fail. Two failed silently (stopped working, temp dropped on the tank) and the last one failed catastrophically and cooked everything in the tank.

Since I don't want to lose all my fish and shrimp again, I have gone back to the Eheim Ebo Jager in tank heaters. I have never had a problem with them. The only reason I changed was the slick design of the Hydors.

U.P. Aqua Co2 Reguator w/double gauges

Have a 50g tank with a few plants in it and some shrimp. I was having issues with plant growth so decided to go with a Co2 system. First I tried the one that the local petstore sells, that uses super small co2 tanks (like co2 pellet gun size) and noticed I was using almost a tank every 2 days. Returned that fast. Went with this and a 5lb co2 tank from a local gas supplier. LOVE IT. have it set on timers running 13 hours every day and it works flawlessly. Also with the 5lb tank setup the needle has barely moved in the 3 weeks I have been running it. Very cost effective.

Great product. Works well and looks pretty flashy. Only issue I really had with it was the connector threads were a little loose and had a hard time tightening them with the alan wrench. Even with teflon tape I still had a leak between the connector and regulator until I finally found a regular wrench and tightened it to almost the point of stripping the threads.

Luckily I have a paintball adaptor screwed into it as well so I'll never have to mess with looseing and tightening the connections on the regulator again, will just have to screw a new tank into the adaptor.

Oh, one other thing, there aren't any directions, so make sure you research before you put together. You'll want to have the on/off valve 100% on when attaching a new tank or else you're going to have an impossible time with it and make sure you can screw it fast or else you'll lose a lot of your CO2.

Bought at 6 months ago it came with the tank as a kit. Aqueon T8 17W 24" bulb in All-Glass hood. Turned on/off once a day, run average 6 hours max. Thought bulb had gone out (after only 3 months). Finally just bought a new one, but apparently it's not the bulb!

We have our entire aquarium system on UPS (uninterpretable power supply), so it's not a household current surge/valley issue, just poor quality. Have had 8 aquariums in about 40 years, and many units outlasted the aquariums. I never even gave the quality of hood lights a thought until now. Very disappointed.

Won't be trying this brand again anytime soon. You really do get what you pay for.

The reason I bought this is the previous one broke. The plastic hinge mount for the front of the lid is not very durable so I'm afraid this one may not last that long either. Seems like a design flaw to me. And at $50 a pop to replace the thing, I would like it to be designed a little better than this. But all in all, I like it while it works.

I definitely notice a difference in water clarity after I put these in my 75 gallon tank it is much improved. Be sure to rinse these first though as they have alot of dust you don't want in your tank. They don't last too long I change mine out monthly but the cost versus gain is good. My ammonia and nitrate/nitrite levels stay lower and more stable.
