This net does what it is supposed to do, and once it's set into place, it is alright. But setting it up is a little painful. You insert the plastic sides, then pull the net tight and tie the string around the top. To secure it to the side of the tank, you use metal arms and bend them over the side. During this whole process those plastic sides you inserted are falling out of their hole (they do not click into place). But to look on the bright side... it works, it will fold flat when I'm finished with it.Read Best Reviews of Marina Net Trap, Fine Mesh Here
This worked great for a 5 inch fish that was injured by getting stuck in a sunken ship. The product is easy to assemble and clean. Great price too! Shipped on time with no issues.peni would recommend this to other customers, because i assembeled in less than 1 minute (LITERALLY) and it looks pretty good, except i was a little scared of the plastic rods breaking while assembling, but no it didn't so i am pretty glad with my purchase, i bought mine at a local pet store and it costed me about $6 a little more expensive than amazon, but i'd rather pay 50cents than wait 5-8 days for it to be shipped, i haven't used it yet, but i've already assembled it, the only bad thing about this item is that is has 2 metal hooks that you can easily bend to hook over your fish tank, not suction cups , so if you have a closed top fish tank like i do it won't close dow perfectly but oh well, not a big deal at all, a pretty good size no super big, and not super small, just right for my new baby guppy fry!!! have about 50 of them!!! the net also feels really soft, hope it stays that way for a long time!!

Marineland PA11486 Canister Filter Bio-Balls PC 160-360, 90-BioBalls
These bio-filter balls have lots of surface area for bacteria to colonize, much much more than ceramic rings. The surfaces, both outside and inside, have a slightly rough texture which is important since the bacteria will have something to cling to. The multiple channels provide a lot of water flow that allows nutrients to reach and support the bacterial colonies.
The only complaint is that some of the balls are not fully formed. The plastic was not fully injected into the molds which reduced the amount of surface area and is not textured. They still work and won't be seen while inside a filter.
Not all bio-balls are created equal. I originally purchased some other (cheaper) bio-balls but it had a noxious smell so I immediately returned them. It used low quality plastic that leached toxic compounds into the air and water (which may be carcinogenic or mutagenic to your fish), did not have any texture, and had a design that limited water flow. These Marineland bio-filter balls, however, don't have any smell, appear to use quality plastic, are lightweight, are textured, and support large bacterial colonies.
If you are deciding between these bio-balls or other ones, I recommend choosing Marineland. You'll be getting a quality product that you'll know will be safe for your fish.
Edit: 03/13/13
These bio-balls float. Depending on your filter setup, you may need some kind of enclosure like a mesh bag to keep them in place or they will float to the surface. This bioballs are great for cannister filters, you would thnik that 90 bioballs are to much, but they are really small in comparison to the standard size, so they are great because they give you a huge surface to the bacteria grow and doesn't ocupied a big space, in cannister filters this is quite an advantage.

I love balls.I do not trust sintered glass or ceramic biomedia claims about each piece having the surface area of Brazil. Water and oxygen won't flow through these microcrevices and nanoholes after the biofilm covers them up, so you really only have the surface of the object itself. These seem to work fine for all my tanks I have them in Fluval 305/6 filters on heavily planted and VERY overstocked tanks with 8 to 10 times the tank volume moved per hour. They don't clog, they are always covered in lovely disgusting slimy bacterial slick that never goes all death-stinky, and the water is so clear you would never know you are looking at a fish toilet.
But do please pay attention to what you are buying. They usually tell you how big they are, so read and don't be surprised.
It would be nice, though, if they would give you the VOLUME of balls, as I doubt anybody is looking for a specific number of balls, just enough to fill a filter basket that can hold [this much] balls.
Balls.

I had the hardest time finding the size of these bioballs because it doesn't say it anywhere, even on the Marineland website. Turns out they are the small kind, a little over 1cm in diameter and to be used for the Marineland canister filters. They are pretty decent, though I wish they could have molded in a different color plastic because with a light color plastic you can actually see the film of bacteria on them.Lee's Pet Products ALE16035 Rigid Tubing for Aquarium Pumps, 5/8-Inch by 3-Feet

This is a great travel cage very light weight and easy to fold and store when not in use. It folds almost flat so we can store it in the vehicle handy whenever we need it. The foremost reason we bought it is because it was mostly made of mesh. Our dog overheats easily so we wanted a cage that would allow air movement. Plus, he can see out in all directions. Mac is a 45 lb English Setter and we have always cage crated him in our van when driving. Our large cage is perfect but he has a tendency to lick the metal grates even if we spray some Bitter Apple on them.
The "Its a breeze fabric tent crate" is large, easy to assemble and he can't lick the sides.
It stands up to a little weight being put on it and is very cool and open to air flow.
The sand color is nice but it is going to get dirty. We might consider getting the green and black versionLight weight and easy to use. Would have perfered a darker color so it would have been easier to keep claen.
All Glass Aquarium AAG29030 Versa Top, 30-Inch
As always, I know I can rely on All Glass Aquarium products to be well made!
It fit my 20 gallon long aquarium perfectly, and looks terrific! I got this for my 29 gallon tank and the glass part fits perfectly, however the clear plastic strip that attaches to the glass is about an inch to short from reaching the back of my aquarium. I called Aqueon and was advised that the brand aquarium that I have(Top Fin)was the reason it did not go all the way to the back. He said I could order a universal strip from smithandfoster.com and it would work. For now I put a piece of black electrical tape over the gap. Other than that I am happy with it, it looks so much better than the hood that came with the aquarium. BTW Aqueon was the only brand glass hood the store sold, you would think they would sell there brand glass hood to fit there aquariums so there customers could avoid this issue. I gave it 5 stars b/c it is no fault of the manufacturer.

I needed a dog bed on my screened porch for my 125 lb. dog. This works very well. The padding is quite thick, does not compress too much, and it is large enough that he can lie on it in many different positions. He must like it since he uses it every day when the weather is not hot. I have not washed the cover or filling yet, but I love the fact that even the filling can be cleaned. The filling needs to be rearranged after the bed is unpacked when it is received so that there is not a thin spot where the bed was folded for shipping.Read Best Reviews of Big Shrimpy Original Faux Suede Dog Bed Here
My digger schnauzer loves this the most out of the three terriers. Soft and plump we ended up buying two. He's about 22 pounds and fits nicely on it. If this bed can hold up to him, I'm sure it will pass a normal, sweet sleeper no problem! Very sturdy but very comfy too. This seemed liked the perfect bed to me. Thick, washable cover, comfy...but my dog would not go on it for some unknown reason. He had recently been skunked and the bed he had was not washable. (He still smells slightly 2 months later, even after multiple baths with Pantene and vinegar). His old bed had to be thrown out. It was really stinking up the place. I sent this bed back with no problem and tried a different one that was cheaper but had less padding and did not have the same quality as the Big Shrimpy. Doggie dearest wouldn't go on the new one either, but I kept it in frustration. Now he sleeps on the cheaper bed all the time. Dogs have a hard time accepting new things into their environment. I probably just should have kept the Big Shrimpy. He would have gotten used to it eventually and it's a much better quality bed than what I bought.AA Aquarium 3 Watt Mini Green Killing Machine Internal UV Sterilizer-AAUV3W
As such, green water has become an issue when it never was before.
The pressurized CO2 goes a long way to adding to this problem, and I wish that the companies that sell pressurized CO2 systems to fishkeepers and aquascapers, would tell their customers to expect that the additional CO2 in an aquarium also results in more nutrients and green water.
And moreover, that adding a uv sterilizer to an aquarium is the only sure way of getting rid of both green and murky water.
I have been using the AA Green Killing Machine Mini 3 watt unit for the past few days, and in conjunction with my Vortex D-1 diatom filter, the Mini has my 20 gallon aquarium's water sparkling.
The Killing Machine is cheaply made, however, it is very well thought out, with its integrated adjustable powerhead and separate plug for both the powerhead and uv sterilizer.
This means that once you have removed the green water from your aquarium, you can turn the uv sterilizer portion of the AA Mini off until the water starts getting murky again, in order to conserve its bulb.
And you can continue to use the power head portion of the Mini to circulate your water.
I also like the fact that the Mini is fairly compact, unlike the 9 and 24 watt AA Green Killing Machines; both of which are much larger and appear ungainly in an aquarium.
Overall, this is a worthwhile product that does its job at a very affordable price.
The replacement bulbs are expensive though, given that you also purchase the housing unit for the bulb as well as the bulb itself, in order to have a tight seal.
With the wires on the Mini in your aquarium, you want to make certain that the water seal is perfect.
Moreover, even though AA says that the bulb on the Mini is only good for 3 to 6 months, if you only use it from time to time, you may get several years out of it before having to replace the bulb.
Given the cost of a powerhead that circulates 100 gallons of water per hour, The AA Mini is a bargain, with both a powerhead and uv sterilizer in one compact unit for about the price of just a powerhead.
It is also nice to be able to unplug the uv sterilizer while being able to keep the powerhead going all the time.
I usually just pour a small amount of plant fertilizer in front of the AA Mini's powerhead and it circulates the liquid fertilizer better than just pouring it into the tank itself.
I highly recommend this product. It is a very good value.UPDATE 8/13/2012: I'm upping my review to four stars. I'm giving it more stars because the vendor corrected the product description (see below) and what is listed now describes a very solid product for what it's supposed to do. I'm not giving it five because the two plugs are actually kinda annoying. If the amount of plugs isn't a concern for you though you should DEFINATELY buy this product to control algae. Simly stated it works!
I actually like this product quite a bit. The unit is compact, quiet, and keeps my tank water clear of algae. And yet I gave it only two stars. Why? In the description it says "Requires no tubing; Has one plug to operate both the UV sterilizer and filtration pump." Well, they're half right. The unit has two plugs, one for the pump and one for the UV sterilizer bulb. I ordered it because I only had limited plug-ins available and didn't want to clutter the back of my tank with yet another extension cord.

This machine cleared my 10 gallon tank within 5 days. I turned it off and the water has stayed clear over a week. Before using this, my 6 week old tank had turned green and was hardly getting better despite more partial water changes. At the greenest, one of my two goldfish got sick and died. I know algae generally aren't harmful to fish, so I wonder if there was a bad bacteria also. This machine supposedly also reduces bacteria in the water. Either way, it looked too green. I avoided anti-algae chemical treatments because have live plants. My only complaint is that I can't find anywhere to buy replacement bulbs. The bulb is estimated to last 3-6 months if constantly on, so hopefully if I only have use it occasionally, it should last much longer. We had a fish tank for 2 years but one day the water turned green and looked like green koolaid. After changing the water we had a few fish die but the water was clear. Then the green started coming back about a week later. I got this thinking if it saved just a few fish in a water change it would be worth the price. We have a 30 gallon tank and after about a week the water was clear. Ones the water cleared up I stop running it 24/7 to try and save the UV bulb. The only problem I have seen in the few months I have had it is the water flow speed nob is stuck and will not turn.

I can't complain, after about 5 days my fluval chi is crystal clear, finally! I replaced the old light on this tank with a much brighter one and ever since the algae has just taken over ( as well as the plants ). I wasn't too happy about how big this thing was, it kinda freaked the beta out putting it in my 6.6 gallon tank but it was worth it as the water is crisp and clear now. Kind of pricey but well worth the convenience of not coming home to a cloudy green tank and doing a water change every few days.Fluval E Electronic Heater
Longer version: Anyone who is serious about tropical/saltwater healthy fishkeeping should take their water temperature very seriously (unfortunately, it seems few do). In my experience, there are few well-made, reliable heaters out there regardless of how much you are willing to pay (my kingdom for a decent/reliable heater I'd always say!).
I used Hagen/Tronics for years and found them to be the best money could buy...(and they were competitively priced, about 40 bucks for a 200W submersible). Another reason I liked the Tronics is that I have heater guards that fit them (another often overlooked concern in my opinion). Unfortunately, they quit making the Tronics and eventually my backups were gone. I have since been on a very frustrating journey... I've tried all kinds (including recently Marineland Stealth and Hydor....which I was told were some of the better ones out there...they sucked... 2 Stealths failed closed (overheated, thank goodness for my close monitoring)--The Hydor could not maintain temperature (wild temp swings)....everything else I looked at and read about seemed like more of the same chinese junk. Although I'd read about some reliability issues, I was about to pull the trigger on the very expensive JBJ True Temp Digital controlled heater....when someone suggested this one.
I will update this review once I've logged some hours...but I'm very optimistic about this model!
NOTE: Some seem to think this is not Submersible...though not documented clearly and implied otherwise, it IS FULLY SUBMERSIBLE (see my response to the previous post).
Update: 2 years later and both units are going strong...highest recommendation.Have this heater now in my fish tank for about a year. The heater itself has a glass housing. The outer casing visible in the picture is plastic. That's great to avoid any fish getting burned by the heater. Target temperature adjustment is straight forward following the instructions. I strongly doubt that any fish could change the adjustment (done by the little red lever which, granted, is in the water as well) as I had read somebody else posting. I use the heater fully submerged.
One thing to be aware of is that the heater needs to be in "flowing" water when being mounted vertically. Otherwise the built in temperature sensor will get triggered and report an error (rising warm water will create and "overheat" condition which switches off the heater). I don't have much water flow in my fish tank so I decided to mount the heater horizontally an inch or two above the gravel. Works perfectly this way.
The best part of the heater is the color coded built in temperature display. As long as the water has a temperature within one or two Fahrenheit of the target temperature the display is green. If the water temperature rises the display becomes red (while of course also displaying the exact temperature as a number). If rising an additional few degrees the display blinks red. Similarly if the water temperature goes below the target range the display becomes blue. This way one can quickly check that the water has the right temperature.

I recently upgraded my 55 gallon aquarium heater to the Fluval E Series 300w. It does an excellent job of maintaining temp and comes with a tough exterior cage (prevents disasters). I really enjoy the temp display screen, but some might find the bright light a problem at night (if you're looking for a dark room). I've bought several heaters over the years, from different brands, and this is by far my favorite.Read Best Reviews of Fluval E Electronic Heater Here
I've used at least 6 brands of heaters over the years, and this Fluval wins hands down.1) nice looking
2) plastic sheathing guards the fish. They like to lay on it.
3) temp gauge is ACCURATE! The display says 77.5 and my $$$ insta-read BBQ thermometer says 77.5.
(the reason i say this is that oodles of cheap fish thermometers _vary_. Test it with a reliable thermometer.)
4) cheap on black friday.
5) not all that long. Usually the higher the wattage, the longer the thermostat. The 300 watt fits in my 23 inch wide 25 Gal just fine. I like to put mine horizontal. Its so nice looking you wont notice it.
6) heats QUICK. A 37 gallon cold tank was 77.5 the next morning.
7) temp display is not at all bright so its not going to light up the room at night.
8) thermometer measures the temp of the WATER, not the heater glass like most heaters. Its surprising to learn how temps vary in your tank. Temps at top vs temps at the bottom. And the glass skews things even more. Measuring by water temp fixes all of those variables as long as you have water flow.
I liked this heater so much, I ordered a second one from amazon at regular price the next day.
Haven't had any problems with low-flow. The manual states that the heater can be taken apart and cleaned if it ever needs it.
EDIT: Just ordered a 3rd. The price keeps going up! Still amazed the display says 77.5 and another therm says 77.5. Exact.
I see the other semi-favorable reviews. Not sure why my 2 tanks are so exact when others fluctuate. I do have the glass top and plastic guards cut snug to prevent heat loss / evaporation... maybe that's also a requirement ? Maybe you are using a cheap therm. from petsmart ? I have a mercury one and its are so far off, its crazy.
UPDATE: its been 1 year and now one isn't heating right anymore. Its on 79.5 but the tank is at 75. Unplugged it for a couple hours and it reset itsself a bit better. Im getting a new one just to be safe.I was looking for a more reliable heater than those I had over the years. The 5 year warranty and favorable reviews on the E300 seemed to fit the bill. The product has been very disappointing. I have a 180 gallon tank that has 2 canister filters; one filter has a 220watt in-line heater. I have always used a second heater to heat this tank, which is in a room that sometimes drops into the low 60's. The filter's heater in combination with a second 250-300watt heater has always done the job nicely. I have primarily used submersible titanium units. The last one lasted just over a year and then failed. That's when I decided to go with the E300. The product does have some nice features. The traditional glass tube is encased in a plastic slotted enclosure. That makes it safer especially with larger fish like my oscars. It also boasts sophisticated electronics with a very nice digital display window which shows current water temperature in large easier to see digits. The display glows green when temperature is within 2 degrees of the setting, blue when more than 2 degrees colder, and red if water temperature exceeds the heater's setting by more than 2 degrees. Now the negatives: The heater is not submersible and the manual calls for a 20-30 minute power off before removing or placing into service. That's not a big deal unless you do frequent water changes like I do. The heater requires placement in a current of water like the outflow of a filter. This apparently is required to dissipate the heat and allow the electronics to do their thing. If not so placed the digital display will constantly flash "LF" for low flow. Unlike conventional heaters, this one curiously does not have an indicator light to actually let you know when it is heating. That proved frustrating in trying to deal with the next point. The most disappointing aspect of the E300 is that it has proven to be a much weaker heater than any similar wattage one I have had before. As soon as I installed it, it became apparent that my secondary heater was working much harder than usual. The Fluval was in the blue mode so it should have been turning itself on. Without any indicator light, I had to wonder if it was working at all. I could only tell in complete darkness when I could see the glow from the actual heating element. To my surprise, it would glow for about 30 seconds and then go dark for over 2 minutes and then glow for 30 seconds again. This was while the water temperature was several degrees below the set temperature on the heater. I had to wonder if this was a malfunction. I called Hagen (Fluval parent company) customer service and was only told generic stuff: unplug and let it sit for 20 minutes then restart it, make be sure it's clean, etc. When that didn't help, I used their on-line help. They were very prompt in answering my emails but never addressed my question as to whether these 30 second bursts of 'on' with much more 'off' time in between was normal. They did offer to exchange my heater. I paid for shipping it to them and got a new heater within the same week. While without it, my other heater easily kept my water temperature at a steady 75 for several days. I put the new heater in, and set it for 78.5 and later 80.5. I didn't change anything else, basically asking the E300 to raise the temperature a few degrees. The best it can do is increase the temperature to 76-77 degrees, constantly showing it's blue display to confirm it is incapable of reaching it's setting. Doing my sitting in the dark observations, the 30 second pulses are identical to the first unit. I can only conclude that the 300 watts of claimed power are drastically restrained by fancy electronics that seem designed to give pulse heating. Any other similarly powered heater would stay on until much higher temperatures were reached. (I used to have discus in this tank and easily kept 84 degrees.)My next heater will likely be a titanium submersible.
